Fusion Academy & Learning Center

Our experience with Fusion Academy Huntington Beach has been excellent. Our son has been attending for two years and he loves it. It is an alternative school in that they teach one on one. It is a unique school and very expensive so if your looking for your child to attend most likely you have a very specific reason, but if it is the right fit, it is worth it.
It has a sort of liberal arts college atmosphere in terms of teachers and scheduling classes. Their teachers go above and beyond and are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. I cannot say enough about how engaging and caring the teachers are, stellar. They will adjust the curriculum to keep your child challenged, Our son has taken state and private school tests outside of Fusion and has received above average scores.
The staff is super open with communication, updates all the time. If your child is interested in a particular subject they will run with it. There are clubs, charity work and extra curricular activities. There is also a student ambassador program.
The classrooms all surround two open larger rooms that are supervised with a computer lab/​library/​study area. This works really well in that after a class is over the student has a ‘study’ period were he or she can choose to be in the quiet study room or the social one. Everyone is interacting and its just a really uplifting atmosphere. If you need space and quiet time you can get that too.
It is also possible to take just one class, that is what we did at first, to sort of try things out.
The only con I see is the high price tag (but honestly they go above and beyond in every way in my experience).
Also I want to speak to some of the negative reviews just because we have had such a different experience:“buying a diploma” — I suppose if your child is completely unmotivated then you could be ‘buying’ him or her a diploma but I think that can happen at any school.
«teachers are young and inexperienced” — Most of the teachers are young but incredibly motivated and knowledgeable.
I can’t speak to the teachers salaries but I want to write that they deserve high compensation.
Lastly it is not a place that ‘fixes’ kids. Its a place that gives them a kind space to grow. Whether its for middle school and high-​school or just for one semester, Fusion, in our opinion, is worth checking out.

The concept: provide an alternative to public school education. One on one teaching.
The practice: catering to rich parents who think they can fix their kids if they pay enough. $ 40+ per year. $ 3,700 per 20 sessions. (40 min classes)
— Fusion caters to their customers at the expense of its teachers. They all work part time. They are all young and very inexperienced. High turn-​over. No benefits for teachers. Most work under 30 hours.
— They cover 185 days worth of lessons in 40 sessions. Novice teachers trying to teach a year’s worth of lessons in ¼ the time.
— the only positive is that students get a lot of attention. Very expensive attention.
If you’re looking for strong academics then look someplace else. This for-​profit is focused on money not pedagogy.

Words can never describe the love we have for this school! Our daughter attended Fusion so she could fulfill her passion of graduating early from high school and taking a Gap Year. Our daughter was a straight A student, taking advanced classes. Fusion accommodated our EVERY need and our daughter took Honors classes in physics and Calculus, even taking Calculus C. She completed her Junior AND Senior years in 1 year. She was accepted to every university she applied to and will be attending CU Boulder for Engineering in the Fall of 2015. Upon graduating she has traveled to South Africa, Fiji, New Zealand, and India. The education she has received from her Gap Year is irreplaceable, and could never have been possible without Fusion.

My daughter started attending Fusion Academy in Huntington Beach when it first opened almost four years ago and is now in her senior year. She was bullied in a traditional school and was laughed at in class when she asked questions. Her self-​esteem was so low when she started at Fusion. Within six months her confidence and self-​esteem rose to an all-​time high and has remained that way since.
Fusion focuses on the whole child. The teachers adapt their teaching styles to what works for each student. The student has no fear of asking questions. All homework is done at the school so the stress of homework at home is non-​existent. They also care about improving confidence and self-​esteem. My daughter now feels she can accomplish anything. She is also getting almost straight As and has done college prep courses so she is ready for the college of her choice.
The best review I can give is directly from my daughter. «Fusion is an extraordinary school with many qualities that both I, and other students, love. The best part about the school and what makes it the supportive, fun, and most of all educational place to be, is the teachers. All the staff at Fusion, from the substitutes to the administration, are always there for the students if we need them. Never is there a time when I feel as if I can’t go to them for advice or moral support. The teachers always push us to be the best we can be, and if something in our life is bothering us, they reach out and attempt to help. The best part about going to Fusion is knowing that I can be in an environment where I have so much support and have teachers that actually care about what I learn and how I feel. They focus on me as an individual, and if the learning methods they teach me aren’t working, they shift gears and try a different way. Every teacher cares about every student, and every teacher is there for every student.»
In regards to the review by a past employee — «Consumer O». How dare you. The students come first. If your first priority was to make money (and not help students succeed) you shouldn’t have be employed by any school. You have no knowledge of how the students feel.
These kids are receiving the BEST education in the world. I would know. My daughter has been there since 8^th grade. And the cost is small compared to the rewards she has received.

Wow where do I start with this place?
I have never seen a school that operates like Fusion. One on one learning!
First I love the welcoming environment. Signs for new kids, gift bags and personal attention. It’s not the private part either. it is who they hire here. Everyone is passionate and helpful. There is a genuine love of the school and the kids.
We came one year ago and met Hojiat who is the kindest most compassionate educator. He walked us through the steps and we were sold.
School has been a pleasure. Did you read that? PLEASURE. Learning and loving the learning. Something lost when we started no child left behind. Teachers who love their subjects and the personal attention to the course according to the student.
Is there work? Of course. Lots of projects and learning. If you ask teachers for something they will work with you to accommodate. Yes folks teachers who want to make learning fun and useful.
This place makes me want to work here!
I know that they saved one high schooler and that is what it’s all about.
