Allstate Insurance: Michael R. Gordon

I called in to get my car and home covered, couldn’t have gone any smoother. I wasn’t on hold forever and everything was clearly and descriptively explained to me. The agent that assisted me was Joyce, very nice. Glad i choose this location.

My most recent business with Mike Gordon’s Allstate office was to pay a bill that was imminently due; since I wasn’t sure it would get through the mail in time, one of the employees (Brandon) assisted me to pay over the phone. This is consistent with all past times that I chose to call in a payment to the office, to be certain that it would go through on time. I was asked if I wanted the receipt mailed or emailed to me. Excellent customer service last week & all prior times too! Please post this & also show my November review, so that your readers will have a balanced view of this business.

I signed up for insurance through Mike Gordon’s office. The staff there are friendly, informative, and professional. I was unsure of what policy would best fit me, but they were patient and helped me decide without any pressure. I am very satisfied with my experience at this office. I highly recommend to others.

The Short Version:
This office charged me for services I did not receive. It took 5 months and countless frustrating interactions with this office to receive a refund. I never received communication from Mike himself.
The Whole Story:
Working with Michael Gordon’s Allstate agency was a pleasant experience… Until I needed to cancel my policy.
I called in December and canceled my commercial policy effective January 1^st. Despite my cancelation, I was still charged for the month of January. That’s where the fun begins.
When I saw the charge, I called the office right away and they seemed happy to correct the situation and said that they made sure my policy was «actually canceled» this time and that I would receive a refund check in the mail.
Three months go by, no refund.
I call to follow up, and I am told that the billing department sent out my refund check «that day» (which, in hindsight, seems a bit too convenient) and that I would receive it by the end of the week.
Three weeks go by, no refund.
I make another follow up call and am told that the billing department needs to be contacted and that Michael Gordon will personally call me back the next day with an explanation. A day goes by without a call, so I call the agency shortly before closing. I am told by the representative that my phone wasn’t receiving calls (really?) and that an email was sent (which we later discover was to a misspelled email address, despite updating my contact info several times). I am now told that a check was not sent, but that my credit card was credited three weeks ago. I checked all debit and credit card accounts, and no such credit exists. I am told I will be contacted tomorrow. Here’s hoping.
*Update*
Despite being told previously that my card was credited three weeks prior, the next time I was contacted I was told that the billing department was unable to credit my card at all. They said they would cancel the original refund check (assuming there was one) and send me a new one. I did eventually receive my refund in the mail, 5 months after the office charged me for services I did not receive. I will be taking my business elsewhere when I need commercial insurance in the future.
