Washington Heights Veterinary Clinic

We’ve been taking our animals to Washington Heights since we first found them when searching for a new vet for Jerry, our senior Poodle with multiple health issues. Dr. McAdoo was noted to have a special interest in some of the diseases that affect senior dogs, so we started going to her. We were very impressed by her knowledge, thoroughness and balance of management. She always explains everything and places the utmost importance on quality of life. Unfortunately, Jerry is no longer with us, but we have three poodle rescues (two with special needs) and we are still very happy with the clinic.
Because of our seniors and special needs pups, we are pretty frequent flyers and have had the occasion to see most of the other docs there. We have most recently been seeing Dr. Pilgram a lot, who I can’t say enough good things about. She is knowledgeable, caring and takes so much time explaining everything and discussing all the options. The techs are also really good, especially Chava (probably spelled wrong) who always remembers our pups. The front office staff is friendly, helpful and responsive, which is a great improvement over where we used to go.
They are a bit pricey, but they seem rather comparable to most of the other places I’ve gone to. Plus I’d rather pay a bit more with them than shop around to save a few bucks. One thing that I don’t care for and seems to be a trend in other clinics as well, is the practice of conducting the exam in the back. I am not a huge fan, as I like to observe, and it often times triggers something for me to ask. That is just my preference. Overall, though, I am very happy with this clinic and always recommend them.

I plan on writing a testimonial after our baby Ron has been relieved of his skin problems. Before his wrist injury we saw zero results after visiting so many local area vets and even some in San Antonio. We gave up hope. After visiting Washington Heights Veterinary Clinic we were given hope again. He grew hair again in so many places they said he would not. I have nothing but good things to say about the front staff, the techs, and most especially the Veterinary Doctor who gave the special care Ron had received. They are so sweet to him. This is the 11 week care he received. You can tell by the super hero pictures they gave on his cast they really care about every patient that comes in. These tough little guys are stronger than we think. Thank you Washington Heights Vet. Ron loves you!

I don’t have enough positive words for this clinic. It is the best in the Houston area. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, patient and kind. She answered all of my questions thoroughly. Dr. Hipke is AWESOME! I am relieved that I have found a very professional vet clinic.

I have two particularly skittish rescues: Bandit and Davy Crockett. One of the technicians spent 5 minutes sitting on the ground with my pups feeding them cheese and other treats to help them acclimate and feel more comfortable.
I love this clinic because they truly care about my pets. I can’t recommend this place enough!

I love them! My dogs are very special to me and I couldn’t have found a better Vet clinic! My Apollo, Xena, Yoda and Ruby are always well taken cared of and treated like family. I also love that they always give you an estimate so you know what you are working with. You are never «shocked» with the prices. The staff is also very knowledgeable and always very sweet and helpful and the clinic itself is very clean!

I was just in earlier this week and once again Chava is a rockstar employee. I’m guaranteed a smile and a good laugh when I’m there, but more importantly he has a very visible concern for the well being of my furry kiddos.

I love this place. Our pup Stan is a real nervous little guy, he’s a rescue and sometimes it takes him awhile to get comfortable with new faces/​smells. The team here is very patient, which is key for Stan. They aren’t too difficult to get appointments with, their mailed reminders and emails help us to book in advance. They don’t push their products on us but make recommendations as needed. We also use them for boarding if we have to travel for work and he can’t come along. I feel at ease knowing he’s with a professional team if something were to go wrong while we’re out of town. I will say they are not cheap– but you get what you pay for!

The staff is really friendly and genuinely caring. I am extremely comfortable leaving my dog in their care, and I can tell my dog is too as he never panics when we go. Dr. Hipke is fantastic, she’s helping to ensure my dog meets the requirements of moving to Hawaii without being quarantined, I felt like she went the extra mile a couple of times to make sure we were all set.

Took my Corgi in today as a new patient. I was very impressed everyone was very nice and welcoming throughout our visit. I even overheard them with my dog and they remained just as kind behind closed doors. Additionally, the office was cleaner than most health care offices I’ve been in!
I noticed other comments on some of the prices, as my pup is too scheduled for a dental procedure that isn’t going to be cheap. Dr. Pilgram and her staff took the time to educate and help me plan ahead. I do believe you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t chose healthcare based on prices for myself, so nothing less for my pup. For that 5 stars, highly recommend thus far.

This vet is great! You are greeted with a smile and a doggie treat! Dr. pilgrim is so kind and really cares about your pet. she takes time to explain everything and she even goes over the price so your not shocked at the end of the visit. They are very nurturing to my dog and I (and my baby) don’t get nervous when they have to bring her back for weighting and things.
The only reason it’s 4 stars and not 5 is the price! Yikes! They wanted to charge me $ 650 to remove a baby tooth that hadn’t fallen out. I love my dog more then life but come on. We went to a small town vet and they did it for $ 50.

I just don’t get warm fuzzies here. We’ve been dog owners for 30 years in 5 cities, so I have bonded with quite a few vets /​techs. I took 2 healthy dogs in for annual exams; they got rabies shots, and I picked up 1 dose of flea meds and 6 doses of Trifexis. The bill was more than $ 600!!!
I was 15 minutes late, partly due to the trains in the area; this was my second visit. I was a few-​minutes late the first time, too. It seemed the staff needed to punish me. The exam was conducted in another room (because me watching would slow down the process???), and the consultation was hurried. There were mistakes on the invoice; I was charged for medication and services we didn’t receive.
Just not a comfortable place for me and the ‘kids’.
Two strikes.. .. they might be out.

This place gets pretty busy. Sometimes they need more than 2 people up front helping. Usually first thing in the morning, lunch & evening rush hour are the peak times. The clinic is very clean, & everyone I’ve met is really nice. My dog goes to Dr. Case. She’s great, explains everything well & is very nice. Once I had an emergency & Dr. Case was off so I had to see Dr. Pilgrim. She was nice but I felt like she was trying to up sale me on everything.

Pricing is reasonable.

Do not go here! After calling Wash Heights Vet Clinic about our puppy having some problems, we went there to see the doctor as recommended. When we got there the woman at the front desk (she was young — middle aged 20’s-30’s, blonde) informed us that although we called, her information was simply a recommendation and that we were not going to be able to see the doctor because we didn’t have an appointment. Luckily we were able to visit a Vet that cared about the health of our puppy and put the process aside to help us.
If you care about your pet, avoid this place.

Extremely professional and thorough with my dog. They were not trying to push any products on me, and they truly cared for my dog. We will definitely be coming back!

Great staff that is competent, helpful and above all caring towards your fur baby and his or her needs.
Both the vet tech and vet were thorough and insightful, having recently switched vets due to service I was relieved by the professionalism and intelligence this office possesses. A knowledgeable front office staff goes a long way and the interactions with every member of this team was amazing.
I’m so thrilled I made the switch to this office.

I have a 6 month old kitten that I have been taking here from the very beginning. Dr. Bannigan and all the staff have been absolutely amazing.
Sterling Archer was found at a park, he was a couple of days old and I was a new kitty mom, so I asked a lot of questions and worried about everything, but Dr. Bannigan was always very sweet and had no problem answering all of my questions and making me feel like Sterling was in great hands. She even calls to follow up after his visits.
The front of the house staff is great as well. They like animals, like any person working at a vet should! They call to remind you of your appointments and when I ask for an estimate, they are always upfront.
I recently moved to Dallas for work and had to take Sterling to a new clinic for his last rounds of shots. He’s very feisty, but, from the moment we walked in, he was very uneasy and the technicians were just not gentle at all so he was very frightened and reacted very aggressively, something that I’ve never seen him do when I took him to Dr. Bannigan.
Today I took him to a different clinic to get neutered. But I just can’t shake this feeling of not knowing how well they’ll treat him!
So, if you are looking for a clean place with outstanding, pet loving people, and you wanna have peace of mind knowing that your pet is well taken care of, go here.
I even considered bringing Sterling with me when I go back to Houston so that they could continue caring for him, but that would be very stressful for him :(

Come first see style. I understand that may work for others, but sitting in a waiting room with a puppy on a leash is torture.
First, I was able to make an appointment! The places is updated and clean. My appointment started on time, and after visiting with the technician about all of the options for my pup, I was given an ESTIMATE before moving forward with the appointment! An estimate? I was pleasantly shocked. A place that doesn’t love seeing the color drain from your face after giving you the bill? And this is why I’m «home»!

As a first time new kitten owner, I was unsure where to take lil Pancake. Unilocal never fails me so I turned to a quick search online. I was impressed with all the great reviews Washington Heights Vet Clinic got, so I decided to give it a shot. I made an initial visit appointment with Pancake and we were able to get in that very week.
Everybody was very friendly and helpful. The service is excellent, and the coolest part is their online records system. After giving them my e-​mail address, they sent me a link to sign up online. As soon as I logged in, all of Pancake’s information was already populated with her past appointments and medical records. They even send out e-​mail reminders, which is great for all the paperless tech-​savvy pet owners out there.
I’m very confident Pancake will always be taken care of when she visits the doctor. I know she’ll be in good hands here!
