I gave them another chance but was a little disappointed again. Still have very slow service and just okay quality. $ 9.50 for two shirts and tie.

i will not be coming here again.
i brought in my JCrew peacoat (i mention the brand to show the value of the item) that i vomited on (it was my wedding on SATURDAY, dont judge). the majority of the stains were on the inside lining, only some on the outside. i brought it in a garbage bag on MONDAY (bc they are closed sundays). i told them the situation, they said they would need to clean it with water. thats fine. they take my name, and schedule me to pick it up THURSDAY.
I come by on FRIDAY… the coat had not been cleaned yet bc they forgot to get my phone number. the tag on the coat said dry clean only so they needed to call me to approve the cleaning method. seriously?! so the STAINS HAVE BEEN SITTING FOR 1 WEEK.
I come back in another 5 days. the coat is clean. but it looks like they rubbed sandpaper all over the outside. you know how peacoats have a smooth twill finish? mine is all pilled up now and looks like felt!
I asked how they cleaned the coat? THey dont know bc someone else did it. You can’t ask your staff? No apology to forgetting my number, no apology to letting those stains sit for +1 week. No apology for how they ruined the texture of my coat.
i said you wouldnt have to be so rough cleaning my coat had you gotten my number the first time around.
I am very disappointed at the lack of customer service, lack of care of clothing.
My husband stopped coming here years ago, I should have listened to him.
You get what you pay for.

I have been to this place twice. I have had bad experience both time. As you can see from other reviews as well, customer service is bad here. First time, they forgot to return a shirt and I had to go back to get it. Thats no big deal, stuff like this happens. Second time, the owner charged me $ 30 for 5 shirts and a pant claiming that I had asked for dry cleaning. I didn’t ask for it. Its not the charge but rude behavior of the owner that really bothered me. There are plenty of other dry cleaning businesses around. Save yourself some time and money by not going here.

The customer service is extremely mediocre which is a shame because they are so close to midtown.
I have never had an issue with getting my things but every time I drop off my clothes I feel nervous because their system doesn’t seem very reliable.
The prices are not great for what they do. I tried to have a pair of pants hemmed about an inch there and they wanted to charge me $ 15. Yikes! If you are in a pinch and need clothes dry cleaned quickly I would not recommend them. Sorry Up-​to-​Date! Their management needs to step it up. I’m sure there is a lot of business in the area and it could only get better if they improve.

This place is not organized at all. They have no electronic ticket system. This leads to the employees to failing to give you all your clothes when you come to pick them up. The employees are not apologetic when they neglect to give you all of your clothes.

they did an exceptional job on a peacoat that I couldn’t get stains out of. this is my usual dry cleaner and I’ve never had a problem.

Up-​To-​Date Cleaners used to be my go-​to place for dry cleaning. I thought it was shady that they never provided a claim ticket, but I never had any problems with them… UNTIL I DID.
The first time they lost all of my dry cleaning and denied ever having it, I was done. Not only did they first try to give me someone else’s dry cleaning (who had my same last name and first initial), they then claimed, FIVE MINUTES LATER, it was «absolutely impossible» that they could’ve given my clothes to someone else by mistake. Somehow I didn’t believe them.
DO NOT trust any dry cleaner that cannot be bothered to provide a claim ticket!

I love Unilocal,but I have never taken the time to log in and write an actual review. I will write a quick tip here and there, but never go to the actual web-​site to review. My last experience here was so horrendous that I couldn’t resist.
I have been coming to this cleaners for about seven years. They have lost a couple things, put creases on pants when asked not too, put way too much starch on items I have asked for no starch, etc. Even though they were expensive, I still continued to come and felt like their mistakes still outweighed the poor quality I have received from other dry cleaners in the area. That was until this last trip.
I like high-​end items, but rarely splurge unless it is on sale. I made an exception when I fell in love with an emerald green cowl-​neck sleeveless silk shirt I saw at Neiman’s. It was over $ 100, but I couldn’t resist because it was so beautiful.
I took it in with my usual dry cleaning to get it cleaned before I wore it for the first time. When I went to pick it up, I saw there were several spots on the front that looked like starch or water. I pointed them out and the girl told me that they hadn’t been able to get the spots out and they had been there when I brought it in. I explained that the shirt was brand new, with tags when I brought it in and there were no spots. She took it back and said they would see what they could do.
I came back two days later and the spots were gone, but the shirt had several snags and strings that had been pulled from the front and were hanging down. I pointed this out and was told that because of the spots, they had to clean it extra hard which had caused the snags. I asked to speak with the manager and she said he wouldn’t talk to me and also advised that it was in my best interest not to speak with him because he has a very bad temper. After I asked her to please go back there and ask if he would speak to me, she came back and told me he would not come to the front, but did say that the manager would give me $ 25 to replace the shirt. Since I had just purchased the shirt, I happened to still have the receipt with me and showed her it was going to take a LOT more than $ 25 to replace it.
I asked to speak with the manager again and she went back there to ask and upon her return, told me that he wouldn’t come speak with me. I could see him through the glass just standing there with him arms crossed just staring at me.
At this point I was VERY upset and felt helpless. I had no choice but to leave. This happened a couple weeks ago and I am still stunned at the managers lack of respect to a loyal customer. He literally was looking at me and laughing as I walked out the door defeated.
I will NEVER go there again and have been spreading the word to all my friends to not use them. Please do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else if you want your clothes to remain nice and to be treated with even the tiniest bit of respect.

The resolution to this review is that I went back on Monday to pick up a suit and a tie I had left on my last visit. They could not find them! They looked and said someone would call me on Tuesday. No one did.
Tuesday evening I went again, still could not find my suit. «someone will call you tomorrow» but again no call!
Wednesday I called them and they had found my items and said they had tried calling me all day (no calls on my cell phone)…
Will not return…

Where I go and I will continue to go

A decade ago, I always use to drop off my items here and everything was great. That was before I found Hangers (they closed) and eventually Twin Oaks (which I use today).
Lately, I don’t know if the owners changed or what; but on the two occasions that I used their services… the service was terrible. The first time was when my girlfriend brought a dress in to get dry-​cleaned. She pointed out a stain and asked if they could get it out. If not, then DON’T bother dry-​cleaning it. The lady behind the counter told her they would try. So when she came back to pick it up, the stain was still there. Mind you, they dry-​cleaned the dress w/​o informing her of its still existence. She pointed it out again… letting the staff know that it is still there. She gave specific instructions that it should ONLY be dry-​cleaned if the stain could be lifted. They apologized, took the dress to reattempt, and told her to come back. Second time around, the stain was still there. They said they couldn’t get it out. When it was time to check out, they charged her dress for the drycleaning. Ummm HELLO, what were the instructions again?! Seriously, there’s a lack of communication up in this place. Eventually they didn’t after we stated our displeasure.
The second time was when I brought in my pants to be dry cleaned. Since I was going to be out of town in two days… I made sure to ask if they can get it done by then. «No problem», the girl tells me. I come back and only one pant gets done while the other comes up missing. NO Effin Way!!! It so happens to be my favorite pair of Prada slacks. You gotta be kidding me. The entire staff goes scouring around the back looking for it. I can see through the window of them going through each item, in each basket, one by one. Nothing came up. They go through it again and again. NADA! It was gut wrenching and irritating all at the same time. They asked if I could come back the next morning, I told them I got a plane to catch. I wasn’t gonna leave until they find it. Poor girl, I could see it in her eyes, she didn’t know what to do or say. Luckily they somehow somewhere found it all wrinkled. Supposedly it was stuff in the dirty basket somewhere in the back. Like the first incident, they comped the dry-​cleaned pants.
It’s unfortunate… the price is great, and its right down the street from my house. I don’t need any freebies. Just get ‘er done!

Best dry cleaner I’ve found in Midtown/​River Oaks area. Staff is friendly and I appreciate how they launder and dry clean onsite. Price is extremely reasonable as well.

I had a pair of suit pants altered here (lengthwise) and one pair cleaned. They did a great job and I had no problems.
My only complaint is that it cost a little over $ 20, which is ridiculous to me since dress pants cost $ 40 in the store.

They’ve been in business for 100 years. A pretty impressive feat.
Service is always super fast and with a smile. Alterations are inexpensive and of high quality. If you ask for heavy starch your shirts will come back like cardboard — just the way they should.
Of all the cleaners I’ve used in Houston, Up-​To-​Date has been the best.

Stayed open an extra 5 minutes when I was running late! Friendly staff! Clothes always spotless and pressed neatly!

On Friday, I dropped off a pair of shoes to get new heel tips. They were ready by Wednesday and cost $ 9.70 to repair.
While I haven’t worn them outside yet, the job looks pretty well done. I would return again.

I just picked up my first order at up-​to-​date and I’m only withholding that fifth star pending additional evidence. My boss, who dresses well and wouldn’t tolerate someone messing up his threads, recommended Up-​To-​Date. Prices are about as cheap as I’ve seen – six dress shirts for $ 9 and change without a coupon. No issues whatsoever with this first order, starch level was as requested, no broken buttons, no wrinkles.
I don’t take much to the cleaners other than my dress shirts – fortunate to work in a business-​casual office. I do have a pair of pants there now, so I’ll let you know how that works out.
