Three Brothers Bakery

Normally Three Brothers are a 5 star all the way except yesterday experience. I went in after work to get a poppy seed roll and the young man behind the corner picked it up with his hands about 5 times and put on the counter about 3 times and on the scale once and than proceeded to put into a box. OMG! GERMS!!! I could not believe my eyes on how he was handling the food with no gloves. When I said no thank you and walked out.

The reason why I gave it two stars is purely based on who I am. I felt that my cookies were way too dry and wanted a glass of water after two bites. I like my cookies more buttery and moist rather then dense and thick. But my mom loved the cookies and said she would be back. So nothing wrong with Three Brothers, just not my type of bakery. :)

I’m a sucker for bakeries, as I love carbs in sweet, baked form. However, not all bakeries are created equal, but this one is one that I will definitely be returning.
Came here mainly for the gingerbread man, since I had heard many good things about it. My Jewish friend even told me that the gingerbread man is still made from the original mold that the bakery used back in the day when they first opened (According to the 3 brothers website, the bakery opened in 1949)! But of course, how can you go to a bakery and just get one gingerbread man? I decided to also try a jumbo cupcake as well. After 5 minutes of agony in front of the cupcake display, I settled on the carrot cupcake. They also had snickerdoodle cupcake, Frapuccino cupcake, red velvet, Italian crème, and double chocolate that caught my eye.
Mustering all my self restraint, I drove myself home and took a picture of my gingy and the carrot cupcake before I pounced on them (normally, baked goods would be consumed immediately in the car, but good thing I live close).
Gingy: YUM! The texture was softer than I had expected (for some reason I imagined a crunchy gingerbread man), but the flavor is spot on. The best part is it that it even leaves you with the spicy aftertaste of ginger, which is amazing. Very moist, and goes well with an unsweetened beverage such as milk/​tea/​coffee.
Jumbo Carrot Cupcake: Thumbs up! Moist and fluffy. They are also not kidding when it’s labeled «Jumbo». Although half the cupcake itself is the frosting. Frosting is very sweet, but that’s expected. The cake itself is on the sweeter end, but very good. I also love that you can taste (and see) little shreds of carrots and that there’s pecans.
My husband also loved everything. Will definitely be coming back. Snickerdoodle, Frappucino, red velvet and Italian Crème jumbo cupcakes see you soon!

Lovely old-​fashioned bakery loaded with a bunch of wonderful baked goods. Im assuming this is the original location. We used to have one many years back in Sugar Land. Its too bad they closed down. Was quick and convenient back then. The young folks working at this location are quite friendly and patient as well. They are ready to assist you when you want to make an order. This is the place you want to go if you’re picking up something sweet for guests arriving to your house. Or maybe if you’re headed to their house. There is something for everyone at Three Brothers Bakery. The pound cakes are good. So are the danishes, croissants, and cookies. Oh and loads of colorful decorated cookies tantalizing for a child’s imagination. I used to be that kid. The environment is a bit old and dark looking from the inside. But I usually make a quick to-​go order and decide on what I want. I definitely recommend coming here early in the afternoon when products are freshly baked and fully available. Nice place to drop by if you’re around the 610 S Loop.

Spent $ 150 for a kids bday cake. I brought them the decorations. They did a mediocre job and the frosting is so sweet it is not enjoyable. Go to whole foods or somewhere with more options. Never again…

I ordered a Dairy Free cake from 3 brothers for my sons birthday and it was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! My husband and son tried the dairy free gingerbread man and the snicker doodle also and said they were awesome. We will definitely be repeat customers. Thanks 3 Brothers for a great job!

This is long over due, a few years back we ordered a birthday cake for my mother’s 50^th birthday. The staff was just perfect! They were so friendly and helped us find the perfect cake. The visual we had of the cake didn’t even meet to what the final result was. The cake itself was so beautiful. The inside was just as perfect!

Can be a little pricy but for the cakes you are getting it is definitely worth it. Cupcakes, bagels, and cakes are all delicious. I believe it is all made from scratch on location. Go give it a try!

My favorites are the vanilla petit fours, mexican wedding cookies, and every cake they make.

I hate to give a legendary culinary landmark such a low mark, but I have to comment on the flippant and rude shop boy that was manning the register on this day of Sunday, 29 November 2015 at 4PM. I also work in customer service mate, and I’ve had long days of outright rudeness from the lowest forms of humankind. So wipe that smug look off your kisser before someone decides to sort out your face for you. I still gave a dollar to the tip jar out of habit, all I got was an eye roll and not a breath of thanks. I was too happy to let him ruin a fun Sunday with the Texans win.
Verdict: I hope for that young man’s sake he’s not working the next time I come round, because I won’t be with a pre-​schooler with sensitive ears.

Not a fan of Three Brothers Bakery! I use to hear people say they had great desserts but when I visited, I was extremely disappointed. The experience was soooooooooo bad, I can’t remember what I had. I assume I just blocked the memory out of my mind. I would rather go to HE’S Bakery!

I grew up eating Three Brothers gingerbread men, hamentaschen and challah. My family moved away from Houston decades ago, but whenever I go back, I stock up on gingerbread men and stash them away in my freezer. I can’t help it. Nothing compares. Even looking at pictures of them makes me happy!

At $ 7.95 for a delicious sizable Apple cinnamon coffee cake, you really can’t go wrong with three brothers. I brought it to work for my department one morning, and it was a huge hit. I’m pretty sure I gained a thousand cool points that day and the acceptance of all of my peers. Instant popularity I tell ya!
I also tried their famous big gingerbread man whose belly is adorably covered with sprinkles ($ 2.95). It was good but could have used maybe a bigger kick of spice. Bit on the bland side. The coffee cake is definitely a better steal.

Bobby at three brothers took such good care of me! Making my friends the most amazing cake for her birthday and even delivering it to me! The cookies he brought we some of the best I ever had! Omg! Thanks so much for making her birthday memorable! To me the is the best bakery Houston has!

I’ve heard about this bakery from a co-​worker and saw their other locations in passing. Decided to hop of the bus and give them a try. So far their chocolate croissants are the BOMB! They also have a good assortment of sinful treats to fit anyone’s craving starting from dog to adult. I have not tried their other locations but I like this one. Small and quaint.
BTW the Chocolate Croissants are hot in the streets of H-​town so they go fast…

I’m going to preface this with saying that I am not a sweets lover.
I run often on Brays Bayou often and always passed this place. By the looks of it I thought «who in their right mind would go in this place». So of course I had to try it out and I was BEYOND impressed. This minute I got out of the car I could smell the sugar, and it was delicious. The place was pretty busy. Always a good sign, I don’t mind waiting for good food. The employees were very friendly, answered every question I had with a smile and were very patient while I made every careful decision of cookies I was getting.
I got about 8 cookies, 4 different kinds, of course I had to try all. They were all fabulous, moist, fantastic flavor.
Also, this place was spotless, carried a large variety of baked goods and also a few gifts and greeting cards.
I will for sure be back, probably tomorrow to pick up goodies for an event!
The ONLY downside is now I have to avoid going in everyday when I run past it! What a struggle.

Three Brothers Bakery has, conveniently enough, 3 locations in the Houston area: on Washington, in Memorial and the original location, which I visited, on Braeswood. If you have lived in Houston for any length of time and you haven’t yet heard of Three Brothers Bakery, then listen up! There is a story here and the story is good!
The tale of Three Brothers Bakery began in Poland. In 1932, during a bakers’ strike, two of the three brothers, twins Sigmund and Sol, began working at the bakery at the tender age of 10. When they were 19, Sigmund and Sol, along with the rest of the family, were interned in a Nazi concentration camp. On May 8^th 1945, the two brothers, younger brother Max and their sister were liberated from the camp as the SS fled.
On May 8^th, 1949, the 3 brothers, Sigmund, Sol and Max opened the first Three Brothers Bakery in Houston, Texas. They struggled at first, moving the bakery from Holman Street to Almeda in 1954 and finally to South Braeswood in 1960, where I stand today.
Three Brothers Bakery is so rich in history that you can feel it within the walls of this heavenly aroma-​filled jewel which definitely adds to the experience here. You can taste the tradition, love and passion for baking in every single bite.
Although I am usually out eating at restaurants and sipping wonderful craft beers, today I find myself in this landmark Houston Bakery with a nice, cold glass of whole milk. Facing me is Bobby Jucker, son of Sigmund. Bobby, a jovial and charismatic man, is a 5^th generation baker. He has story after story about events that have taken place in the family bakery. Three Brothers Bakery has been no easy business, but it’s apparent this family works hard and does it the right way, no doubt the main reason for their success.
You know my love for desserts right? Well, Bobby put it to the test. As you can see from the photography, Bobby laid out a spread that allowed us to try almost everything they offer here. As it would take me days to give a detailed review of everything we tried, below is a list. I have never in my life even dreamed of eating so many baked goods in one sitting! But, I loved every sweet, delectable bite!
We enjoyed the following goodies, which you can see pictured above… Ginger Bread Man, Hamantaschen — Chocolate, Peanut Butter Cookie, Chocolate Pecan Drop, Cheese Pocket, Apple Turnover, Cherry Danish, Almond Sticks, Hamantaschen — Poppy Seed, Chocolate Brownie, Snickerdoodle, Black and White Cookie, Rumballs, Chocolate Ripple Fudge Jumbo Cupcake, Chocolate Dipped Macaroon, Two Petit Cakes Plain Bagel, Onion Pocket, Sprinkle Cookie, Lady Finger, Chocolate Éclair, Challah Bread and finally the Corn Rye Bread.
Doesn’t sound like much if you say it fast… Ha! It’s hard to pick a favorite as all were totally delicious. But the Ginger Bread Man, Cherry Danish, Chocolate Éclair, Onion Pocket, and Cheese Pocket, as well as both breads, were big stand-​outs. Did I just relist everything I tried? Well, I could have, like I said it’s hard to choose.
Three Brothers Bakery is a family institution and a sweet part of Houston’s history. Not only is it a highly acclaimed, award-​winning bakery that has been featured nationally on numerous magazines and television shows, but the owners are good people who have struggled through generations of adversity. They say nothing good comes easy and that is true here. Well, at Three Brothers Bakery, they have worked hard to make it easy for us to enjoy top-​notch baked goods!

After having a negative initial experience, Three Brothers Bakery offered to make me another King Cake, free of charge! This time I went with the plain King Cake, no filling. I thought it was better than the cream cheese King Cake and I appreciated the gesture on the part of the company. The cake was delicious and is such a nice Mardi Gras tradition. Not only does it taste good, but it looks good too! The green, purple, and yellow Mardi Gras colors on the cake along with the beads and other decorations, make things about as exciting as it gets when it comes to cake!

If you have a sweettooth this is your spot… Also, if you are looking for a cake or dessert for any occasion they have you covered… This is a local family owned kosher bakery that has something for everyone… Their cupcakes are way better and more moist than other places… I love their Black Velvet Cupcake… Oh sooooo good… By far the best bakery that I have been to so far in Houston

I found this place because I needed to pick up cookies for the office and they weren’t too far from the TMC.
What a selection — it took me a minute to take it all in. Everything looked delicious from the cookies, to cupcakes, cakes, breads. you name it and they had it.
It was a little on the pricey end. I wanted to get a dozen cupcakes for the office, but at 3.95 a pop -, I just couldn’t make myself pay $ 50.00 for a dozen cupcakes (I don’t care how cute they are).
Service was good and there was parking right out front so you can easily pop in and out.
