The Radney Day Spa

This is the home of the $ 100 manicure pedicure. I too purchased the daily deal for this offer. I would never come back here without a certificate but I did love my experience. I liked sitting in the room by the garden. I thought that was very relaxing. I also liked that the room was not a row of chairs with multiple people having lots of conversations. The atmosphere was a lot more relaxing. Overall it is a nice break from my usual place. Just can’t afford $ 100 a trip.

So I purchased a LivingSocial deal for hair services from this place. The reviews weren’t QUITE as bad back then — before they went on a deal-​selling splurge apparently — so I thought it was a good buy. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I haven’t even gotten to use my deal. Why? Because their stylist went on «emergency family leave» for almost a month, and at no point in time did the salon have ANY idea when she would return. I called several times a week and every time I got the same response — yes, she’s out, no, we have no idea when we can help you, we’ll call you when she gets back. I finally asked them to issue me a refund because I was sick of waiting. They told me that they would call LivingSocial, work it out, and call me back. Two weeks later — no call. This place is unbelievably terrible when it comes to service. I’ve finally given up and just recently got a full refund from LivingSocial (thank God).
Based on the recent reviews, it looked like I saved myself a load of trouble!

I had purchased one of those deals online for a facial at Radney Day Spa. I checked out their website and realized how pricey their facials were compared to other places. At the time, I thought this was awesome because the online deal offered a major discounted rate compared to their full priced facials.
PROS:
Walking towards the front door, the place looked cute and charming. The staff in front seemed nice as well.
CONS:
When I called to set up an appointment, the receptionist told me they were completely booked for the week I requested. She asked for my name and number then asked if she could call me back, which I was totally fine with. Never called me back.
A month later, I called back and was able to get a day and time with no problems. On the day of my appointment, I was on time until I missed a turn and had to do a massive u-turn…through traffic! Unfortunately, I was a little over 5 minutes late. As soon as I got in the room with my facial lady, she made sure to call me out on my tardiness and that she had other clients after me. I apologized anyway because she made me feel bad. Also, she mentioned the deal I purchased had already expired and doesn’t know why they are still accepting them. She was wrong because I checked as soon as I left from there and saw that it did not expire until a whole month after!
FACIAL:
For the price they charge is not worth it, it was not even relaxing. I’ve been to less expensive spas with better aestheticians, equipments, and overall experience. I know most spas want you to try and purchase their products, but I felt like I was in the room with a sales lady almost the entire time.
I thought it was a little strange that I was fully clothed with jeans and a blouse under the sheets, even if it is just for a facial. Most spas at least provide a robe or an elastic towel headband. With that being said, I noticed afterwards that my hairline was sticky with all of the products she had used. During extraction, she did well on obvious spots like pimples, but I noticed I still had lots of clogged pores afterwards.
I was truly disappointed and do not plan on ever coming back, save your money for a better experience elsewhere ladies!

Well, first thing’s first — do not read reviews once you have already purchased a Groupon/​Living Social as I did! It made me very nervous about going here.
I also feel this is extremely overpriced since the mani/​pedi combo was normally $ 100. I almost wonder if they raised it up to get that much for their Living Social deals since they have done several of these. I also saw that a facial is $ 95, so I just can’t believe a mani/​pedi could cost more normally.
It also took me a long time to get it, and I have a pretty flexible work schedule (can take a lunch anytime) and only live about 10 minutes away. However, they do not stay open past 6, and they allow 2 hours for a mani/​pedi (it did not take 2 hours for mine). The place is weird with all these little rooms as it looks like a converted house. There is a garden to look at while you get the mani/​pedi, but there are just 2 pedicure chairs. So, when I finally got an appointment after 2 months of trying and asking for my certificate to be extended so I could get in, I was shocked that I was all alone in there. There was calming music and a decent view of a garden with birds and plants. My manicurist was nice, and the service was fine. I just think my experiences with walk in places are just as nice, if not better.
I probably would not go there again since it is so expensive, but also because I like to look at my feet and say, I think I’ll go get a pedicure in the next few days instead of guessing 2 months before hand and trying to time it all like I had to in this case.

I do not get facials often, but when I do, I go here. I’ve never had a bad experience! Carol is wonderful, and I recently had an excellent facial with Elena as well. The facial with herbs is amazing; it really does keep my skin clear. The best thing is that I know that everything they put on my skin is so safe it’s edible — even the skin peels. My mother-​in-​law visits every time she comes to town for deep skin treatments. She says she can’t get the same quality anywhere else. Yes, the prices are a bit steep, but the quality is top notch. I recommend this place to my friends.

I recently came here to use my mani/​pedi spa deal that’s originally priced at about $ 100. From the advertisement and original price, I was expecting an over the top experience. I was excited for months, waiting for my rose petal/​cocoa mani/​pedi.
When I got there, I was taken to a nice little room with glass windows viewing a small garden. So far, so good. As I was sitting with my feet soaked in water, I was told they were out of rose petals and if lavender was ok. Not thinking I had much of an option, I said ok. nothing about cocoa was mentioned.
I’ve had plenty of mani/​pedis and the entire time I was hoping for something extravagantly different about this one, since its highly priced. After my hour «spa» treatment, I definitely felt like it was not worth it! The end results of my nails were done as well as I would’ve done it myself!
I wouldn’t suggest going to radney day spa for a mani/​pedi.

As many others have stated, this place is supremely overpriced, which means that I too had a discount coupon that brought me here. Through Groupon I received a rather large discount on a rose pedicure and cocoa manicure. I waited for a while to call and book an appointment and by the time I did the next available appointment was a month and a half away. I thought this might be a good sign of how wonderful they would be but then reconsidered when I realized they are really open during normal working hours… I suppose the regular River Oaks crowd might not have the same «normal working hours» as me…
Alas, I finally had my appointment. I was ready for some serious pampering — remember that the regular cost of this organic manicure and pedicure would be $ 100; it had to be good…
When I arrived at the spa I was the only customer in there. I was whisked away to a back room with a pretty view of the gardens. As my services began, I was offered tea or water (nice touch!), but then told that though my Groupon was for a rose pedicure and cocoa manicure, they didn’t have any rose so I would have to have lavender… I’m not a huge lavender fan but at this point my feet were soaking, I was on my way to relaxation and so I acquiesced. The lavender didn’t really smell very strong and actually just consisted of little flower pieces that continually stuck to my toes and hands.
My other complaint on the experience was the nail technician wearing gloves the entire time. Now I understand that I wouldn’t want to touch nasty feet skin on skin either, HOWEVER, wearing the gloves the whole time really takes away from the end parts of the manicure and pedicure — the lotion, massage, etc… It’s a personal preference on my part that after I have thoroughly soaked and been cleansed, the gloves go…
Now on to the positive, the nails did come out very nice. $ 100 nice? I’m not so sure… I think I’ve gotten just as good a mani/​pedi for 25 bucks… I probably won’t return but the experience overall was satisfactory.

I have only been here using Groupon/​BuyWithMe coupons, as their prices are absolutely ridiculous!
My first encounter with Radney Day Spa was for a mani/​pedi which was absolutely divine! The girl did a great job and I toughly enjoyed myself.
Rounds 2 and 3 for a facial (yes only one service!!) were absolutely terrible!
I bought a coupon to get a facial done. I made my appointment for 3pm on a Saturday. When I got there, I was told that Carrol was running about 15 minutes late. Fine, they let me know up front But I did tell them I was supposed to be somewhere at 4:30. At 3:30, she comes out wither client and she comes over and tells me that she is sorry for running late and she will be with me momentarily. Fine. She proceed to help the woman with various products, and applied makeup for her. Well, it was 3:50 before they took me back into the room, Carrol still working with the woman (remember, my appointment was for 3pm). I put on the wrap they gave me and laid down on the bed and waited, and waited, and waited! Finally at 4:15 I got up and left. As I was leaving Carrol came over all concerned as to why I was leaving, and I explained that I needed to be somewhere at 4:30, and now I had neither a facial nor any makeup and would have to go home to get the latter.
I came back this past weekend to try to redeem the coupon again, as I had PAID for the services already. My appointment was with Elena, who was on time for the appointment. WHEW! (Although should I be giving them points for being on time. me thinks not!) The facial was going very well, until she began the extractions. I know it is common practice to use a needle to assist, but this was ridiculous! When I left my face had cuts and scratches ALL OVER! And, when I got home i noticed that there were many pores that were still clogged!
My facial was 5 days ago and my face still is shredded to bits! One of the scratches she left is also now infected, and quite painful.

Not sure about the other two reviews, but I had a great experience here. The owner was very friendly and did a great job with my pedicure. I would definitely go back.

Worst mani/​pedi experience ever!
What was supposed to be a nice relaxing couple mani/​pedi turned out leaving us rattled up and swearing never to come back.
It started out nice with massage chairs and hot tea. That lasted about 20 minutes. Until the lady started asking personal questions about religious beliefs and political opinions. Maybe she did it out of curiosity but she talked on and on and by the end had insulted not only our religion but a couple of others as well. If you don’t get it, don’t choose it! It was very unprofessional. She kept talking even after she had taken off her gloves and was through with the pedicure! Everyone is entitled to their beliefs and it even entitled to discuss/​debate it, but a spa is not the place to do it.
We politely thanked them and left. Truth is, we couldn’t get away fast enough and by the time we were so rattled up by the time we got into the car, we had forgotten all about the nice massage chairs.
Furthermore, their products were old, my nails have bubbles. The painting application was not consistent. And I was bleeding twice by the time she was done with my cuticles. I better not get an infection!
Don’t be fooled by the mercedes and BMWs parked outside, this place is just an overpriced mess!

I’ve never had a worst manicure in my life. I can do better myself, and I’m not that great.
My friend purchased a 90 minute mani/​pedi spa thing for us, which is just supposed to be a fancy mani/​pedi with all the works — massages, special creams, parrafin waxes, etc.
The lady was meticulous and obviously trying but just didn’t know how. My feet were not properly rid of the dead skin, and spent a majority of the pedi attempting to clean the edges. DUDE, IT’S NOT THAT HARD.
As for the mani, the ‘massage’ lasted for 10 seconds. Together. I had to ask her to clean under my nails, which were obviously dirty but she claimed that she didn’t do it because «she didn’t see anything». Oh and the cuticles. I had to ask her to remove them since she seemed like she was ready to start painting on dirty nails, with thick cuticles still in place. Her response for that was «we don’t do that anymore since it’s thought that the cuticle protects the nail bed, but I can do it for you if you’d like.» I told her to do it. She completely jacked up my cuticles and they were not cleanly removed. Which obviously resulted in inflicting some pain as well. I was obviously unsatisfied, but she was blind to how jacked up my cuticles looked. The paint job itself was just as equally bad. Uneven, and missing part of my nail bed. In her attempt to ‘clean the edges’ she also wiped into my nail bed but apparently thinks that is normal. I had her redo a nail for that reason, and she couldn’t find the problem and redid it only to jack it up again.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC. I thought it was my particular manicurist, but my friends’ was just as unhappy with her lady.
NEVER EVER going back. I will stick to my $ 25 mani/​pedi over at the kirby nail salon. I had no idea a mani/​pedi could suck that badly. I have a newfound appreciation for the better salons.
