Sudden Impact Collision

ZERO star, scammers. Admin fee’s, storage fee’s, fresh air fee’s (u get my point). All I did was drop the car off so the shop and the insurance can agree to the total claim amount being paid and I had to pay $ 400.00 out of my pocket for these fee’s. Is everyone a scammer in Vegas? BE WARNED OF SUDDEN IMPACT, bam your smacked !

ZERO STARS PLEASE. DON’T BELIEVE every positive review on Unilocal.I made that mistake by taking Farrah’s review as proof of good service. But it ain’t her fault.
I came to Sudden Impact to see if they could touch up some very minor knicks and scratches from normal wear & tear… typical freeway front bumper and hood stuff.
Guy Mahaffy is the owner. He greeted me and told me that they could make the car look better than new for the «small price» of $ 1234.00. He said that it was because he should repaint all the affected surfaces no matter how small the scratch happened to be… this was to ENSURE UNIFORM COLOR and prevent future variations in the clear coat or base paint.
Once I signed the work authorization, communication with Guy was almost ZERO. When I called to check up on progress, he was nowhere to be found, only his office worker answered if anyone at all answered the phone. At one time, he even told me that it would go a lot faster if I quit calling him… as if he was the one actually doing the work on the car. That comment came on the first day after I dropped off my car. The rest of the time he was either «running errands» or going to the courthouse, or out of the office.
The first time I get the car back, the painted panels were a shade darker than the rest of the car. It turns out that all the work he quoted me on was not done correctly. Instead of properly sanding the surfaces down to get all the original clear coat off the panels, they sanded it lightly and then painted over the original clear coat with barely enough paint to cover the surface. Result? Visible new paint pigments suspended between the old and new clear coat… looked like white dirt stuck in the clear coat. And of course, the clear coat was a little yellow so it made the panels darker than the rest of the car.
I tell them to do it over. Guy says he wants me to be happy. Tells me to bring it back Monday and they will blend it and I can pick it up Tuesday. I write them a notice forbidding them to blend since that means they would use their wrong paint technique on my original panels adjacent to the freshly painted ones. I drop the car off on Monday, along with the letter. By 6pm, I do a surprise drive by to take video and photos… what do you know… they disassembled all the trimmings to get ready to paint on my original panels which did not need to be painted. The Latino worker even told me that Guy instructed them to paint the doors and fenders. Strike 2. The worker told me while I was recording this with my iPhone, that he never saw any papers warning them to leave the original panels alone… I placed three copies of this notice — one on the windshield, one on Guy’s desk, and one with his office manager. At this point I am frantically trying to reach Guy to get an explanation.
I decide to get my evidence ready and prepare for a possible lawsuit. I know he will lie through his teeth so I video record every single visit with his workers. Keep in mind, his workers barely speak any English let alone read vehicle specific paint procedures for newer model BMW’s. Only one worker could speak English and he worked on the body repairs, not paint.
I talk to the office worker and remind them that they are expected to pay for the car rental since it is their fault that I have to rent a car. They guy says OK.
So I get a call that my car is ready at the end of the week (not the next day as promised)…AND that they would not pay for the car rental. I go pick up the car. I see all kinds of residue clear coat spots here and there. I show Guy the spots. Guy finds every excuse in the book… from tree sap to bird droppings. He even said, «I find it funny that you immediately walked straight to that part of the car after you arrived.» So now I am the bad guy who wants to rip him off apparently. Even with all this evidence on video the dude lives in some fantasy world where he didn’t do anything wrong. The worst part… the rear panels STILL are a tad darker than the rest of the car. The car looks a little better than last time… but you can still see a difference in color. The newly painted left mirror has heavy clear coat drip scar on the bottom from poor painting technique.
So I talk about the car rental. Guy has the nerve to ask me to call him after the weekend on Monday to see if he can get the price lower and he will split the rental. Now if this guy doesn’t think he is responsible to for the car rental when it is completely his fault… what use is it to waste time haggling with such a monkey for partial payment?
The money is a minor inconvenience, I will live. What is more grievous is the stress I endured for 2 weeks not knowing what they were doing to my newly bought BMW convertible. I thought it would be a simple job,…it turned into a big waste of time and money and a nightmare.
You have been warned. If you ignore this warning, you deserve what you get.

A handicapped buddy of mine went out today and was unable to get a handicapped parking space because one of these Sudden Impact Collision wrecker trucks with flames all painted on it was parked in the handicapped space. I’ll make sure no one I know ever uses this company.

This place did an awesome job on my car, twice. I have a fairly new car, and I recently had dinged the door and scratched the paint while opening it next to a wall one day — it was my fault, though. I got several estimates to fix the damage and Sudden Impact was the lowest. I also liked how the manager, Brian, took the time to explain to me how they do business. They use quality paints and methods.
I picked up my car about three days later and I was very happy with the results. Two days after picking up my car, someone chipped my paint in a parking lot — this one was not my fault, but I didn’t get the license plate of the car that did it, unfortunately. I took it back by Sudden Impact. Brian was very sympathetic, and gave me a good quote to fix the new paint chips — he also touched up the car for free so I’d have time to think about it.
Honestly, if my car was older I might not have gone to all this effort, but I ended up taking it back to Sudden Impact a day or two later and let them work their magic. And once again, they did an awesome job. Also, if you work downtown, this place is very convenient to drop off/​pick up from (near Front Porch Pub in Midtown.) My standard of a good body repair is not knowing the car ever received one when I look at it, and Sudden Impact achieved this goal twice, at a good price. Also — their repairs/​paint are guaranteed for as long as you own the car.

Have you ever been stuck in one of those Ahhhh Shit moments, when your car dies, doesn’t start or starts making some kind of odd noise? Ever been in a minor or major wreak when you are asking God WHY ME? Well that’s the exact place I was in on the Sunday after Christmas when my car’s engine would NOT turn off. It turned into Christine! I was doing some last minute errands around 5 p.m. when I went to park my car, and the engine wouldn’t shut off! I could literally take the key out and NADA. Anyway, fast forward to the AAA guy helping me tow it into Sudden Impact the next morning at 8a.m., and I was out by 4. All in a days work. I have had several cars of different makes and models fixed here and I have never had a complaint. Needless to say, it was painless, and quick.

Thank Guy — not God (well, maybe He had something to do with it) for saving my life … and some of my checking account, too.
I don’t know what’s with Tex (my dog). He thinks Mama’s made of money or something. When he’s not locking me out of my house, he’s breaking my sister’s car window and scratching up the door. This all happened on a Sunday, so I quickly called Guy at Sudden Impact and he told me to bring it in on Monday morning.
They specialize in BMWs, so fixing it was a breeze for them; Guy even went out of his way to pick up the needed part so that we’d get the car back that same day! The Sudden Impact team also buffed out all the scratches out of my sister’s door. «It even looks newer than the other side,» my sister said.
Great customer service, great timing and great work.

Go somewhere else. This place is not going to fix anything. All they do is glue it back together and then tell you its ready to go. I took my car there and had to revisit them 4 times to fix a light that kept coming on from their inexperienced workers. This is not a good place at all, PLEASE follow the advice of these reviews.
