I’ve been back several times since my last review but I forget to update. I must admit, it’s like our second home LOL I’ve forgotten all about our friends in Fulshur, Tx where we used to have to go for good Q. One thing I wanna share is if you are not happy with something just let them know they are so quick and kind to fix something. The food is always so fresh and good and that is why we return back time and time again.

Finally getting around to writing this after visiting way back in June of last year. I let the ball slip on that one. So it’s a 3 star for sure when compared to other BBQ joints in Texas, but it’d a 4 star compared with any outside of the there, no doubt. Get a quarter pound of some brisket and some pork, skip the sides, load up on the bread and pickles, etc then enjoy. Decent price for the food if you’ve never tried it.

Yum! This was actually my first time to Rudy’s and I was very happy we went. We headed there on a Tuesday night so the place had a good amount of people but it was not packed — there was still plenty of room to sit. We were greeted upon entering and we headed straight to the counter. We hit a bit of a snag during our order because they forgot our beans and when I went back to get them the line had exploded somehow. Luckily they corrected the mistake quickly and apologized so that was very comforting. There were a few of us so we ordered the lean brisket, the pork ribs, a pint of beans and some potato salad. Things to note when ordering: 1. The cold sides are in a fridge to the left of the counter — you grab those yourself. 2. This is probably obvious to others but it was not to me the way the menu is written. The meat is priced per the ½lb but you can get any amount more or less than that. Maybe they do it this way because pricing by the 1lb would make the prices a little scary, but for whatever reason this pricing method confused me and I thought you had order in intervals of ½lb. It’s a free country though — order that ¼lb! Rudy approves! 3. You can ask for as much white bread to go with your order as you want. 4. They have some bottled soft drinks as you walk in(in the ice chests) or you can also ask for a water/soft drink from the machine. The lean brisket was the clear winner for me — beautifully tender and very good smoky flavor. The pork ribs seemed a bit over-smoked to me… ours were pretty dry and the smoke ring wasn’t a ring — it went through the entire rib. The flavor was good and this might have been a batch that sat on the pit for too long who knows. The Rudy’s BBQ sauce made everything all better :) The beans were lovely — not too sweet and had a nice kick. The potato salad was good but not my favorite, however I usually like potato salad with minimal ingredients that definitely do not include mayo so… don’t trust me, I’m a weirdo. They have a bar with condiments(pickles n such), cutlery, napkins and wax paper for your convenience. Their yummy sauce is placed on the table so you can dab it on carefully or slather it all over depending on how addicted you are to it. Overall great place, would love to try their breakfast tacos! Will be back!

It’s kind of ironic that I am reviewing this place! I am a vegetarian! Let me tell you, the baked potato, bean salad, potato salad and the creamed corn are amazing! All together it’s even better! Their bbq sauce is super yummy too! They serve select bottled beer too! Over all great place, even for us vegetarians :)

Rudy’s never fails to satisfy my cravings. Bbq joint connected to a convenient store/gas station. Upon entering they have lots of souvenirs and knick knacks. They have huge steel tubs filled with tons of drinks ranging from all types of sodas including cream sodas to beers. Continue up the line and there’s also a variety of chips you can pick from. When you finally get to the front counter and you’re greeted by a cashier, you order your meats by the pound and pay. To the left are fridges full of sides and desserts. After you pay and they gather your meal, there is little mini bar of condiments and pickles, onions, and the works to add to your meal, seating is self served and on a first come first serve basis. On the tables are paper towel, huge bottles of bbq sauces, and salt and pepper. My favorite is the spicy bbq sauce of course. They also have a huge roll of butcher paper if you’re so inclined to use it as a plate and dump all your food on. I almost always get the BABYBACKPORKRIBS, CREAMCORN, MOISTBRISKETS, POTATOSALADCOLESLAW, ANDJALAPEÑOSAUSAGE. BABYBACKPORKRIBS are decent in size, pretty flavorful and moist with just the right amount of bbq sauce on it. 4 stars*** CREAMCORN– my absolute favorite. Perfect blend of creaminess and sweetness. So good!!! 5 stars*** MOISTBRISKETS– nice flavor, a little drier than I’m used to but nothing their bbq sauce can’t fix. 4 stars**** JALAPEÑOSAUSAGE– good, flavorful, and just the right kick. 4 stars*** POTATOSALAD pretty good. Not my favorite but decent flavor. 3 ½ stars*** COLESLAW never been a fan of coleslaw like that but this wasn’t too bad. My brother loved it and practically ate it all to himself 3 ½ stars*** If you want to get something good and quick without all the wait and hassle then this is the joint for you. I’ll be back when in the area.

I love the brisket and the creamed corn here, and how fast their service is. I always get the brisket moist and creamed corn is my go to comfort food. On my most recent trip I got the pulled pork sandwich and spicy chopped beef to share. They were both good but I would prefer the spicy chopped beef since it has more of a kick. And btw, the bbq sauce is also right on the money. I especially love the name sissy sauce for their milder one.

Love this place! The food is awesome and their BBQ sauce is fantastic. It’s definitely important to have good ribs, turkey, sausage, beef and whatnot but if the sauce isn’t any good there’s no point. This place has it all and I’ve never left hungry. I definitely recommend trying Rudy’s BBQ if you haven’t yet!

This is not typically the kind of food I enjoy but I’m glad I have it a try because the food here is amazing. By «kind of food» I mean barbecue in general. I usually avoid places that have barbecue in their name just because the food, all of the food, taste like it has absorbed that flavor. However, I was able to order some ribs that were delicious. Of course since I am not a barbecue expert I’ll leave to those who are«experts» to tell me this isn’t a real barbecue place. Watch what the people in front of you are doing if you haven’t been here before. Pay attention, be ready to order, get your condiments and get out of the way.

I had just caught a flat tire on 290 on my way home from work & ended up in their parking lot waiting for my husband to help me out so I decided to pick up some dinner for us. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by two gentlemen! I was then greeted by the counter server, Emily, she was so nice. She was very patient & suggested some delicious green chili stew and helped me figure out what to order… this was my first time actually going inside to order… I have only had rudys catered. I paid & she wished me a safe evening, how nice! Then I go over to the beverage station to get some tea & I was greeted again by a different gentleman! My pulled pork sandwich was super tasty too! Hands down best service at a counter restaurant ever! Next time we will dine in!

Best BBQ place ever! Baby back ribs and regular ribs were amazing! Juicy, tender, and very tasty. Goes great with their sauces(the BBQ sauce is actually very hot!) I liked the moist brisket the most! The pulled pork was also fine. The price is very reasonable. A great place to hangout with friends and go wild with pounds of delicious meat.

I was in houston for a wedding and was recommended to try Rudy’s BBQ. Great location, easy to find and enough room for the family. This place does BBQ right, especially their cream of corn. I bought their Rudy’s rub to take back to CA too.

It is possible my family just doesn’t like Texas BBQ. We got the pulled pork sandwich, pork loin sandwich and turkey sandwich. Also 4 corn on the cobs, and a pint of baby potatoes. Sandwiches are just meat on buns. My daughter is picky, took one bite and hated the turkey and bun. My son eats everything took one bite of the pulled pork and hated it. My husband took one bite of the pork loin and declared it the worst sandwich ever. None tried the BBQ sauce. We all ate the corn, but the potatoes were just mush. The restaurant was clean, and service was fast and friendly.

It’s a chain, it’s busy, it’s decent, it’s just another bbq place. If you’ve had real bbq then you can pretty much relate to what I am talking about. You know, the ones where there is a line all the way from the counter to the parking lot and they run out? This isn’t one of them but it’ll keep you at bay until you can visit one of those that I am talking about. You won’t find beef ribs here but there are of course the other characters of the bbq mash from pork ribs, turkey, ham, beef brisket, sausage and bak bak. The best thing that I love about this place? The bbq sauce that is one the table, you get mild/regular or you get spicy which really isn’t that spicy but the flavor of them both are a great cover for what meats you got from the counter. If here is a little too steep for you for what you get(is how I feel) then across the street is a certain bbq buffet, yes t here really is one, t hat has all you can eat. The bbq here a little better here though. You’ll see this right off of 290, can’t miss it. It’s on the East side of 290, left if you’re driving towards downtwon and to the right if you’re driving towards Austin.

It’s fast food BBQ what else needs to be said. Nothing to write home about for most Texans that know there BBQ. I come here at least once a week and hasn’t impressed my anymore than Bill Millers BBQ.(I live 2 miles away) It’s a quick place to get a fix. People in the know order there brisket, «moist outside cut». Why do I have to tell you that to not get something that might choke me?

You only need to know 2 words in this place, «Moist Brisket». It was awesome. You order by weight and take it to your table where you use paper in place of plates. There is a topping bar that has some really hot peppers besides onions and pickles. They had me as I walked in with such a strong smoke aroma of MEAT!!! I knew it was authentic when 2 authentic Texans treated us as a welcome to the Lone Star Republic.

If you only have a few bucks to spend, GETSOMERIBS. ANDCREAMEDCORN. Then drown everything in the SAUSE. This will be sufficient to experience Rudy’s finest. Not ready to take my word for it? You are free to sample the meats at the counter before ordering– just ask! Other notes: they also give you free bread on the side(if you request it), and there is a bar on the side with pickled vegetables and hot peppers to go with your food. Definitely a plus.

When I visit Texas, I always look for some good BBQ. And I’m glad my boyfriends’s coworker recommended this place The line can get long but it moves quick. The guy who serves us the food asked if we were first timers and gave us pieces to try. Plus we got free bread! TIP: get extra bread! We were newbies, so we didn’t know they had big white pieces of wax paper to line your table! I was kinda sad that they didn’t have the prime rib. Either way, We got the cutters choice. They basically just give you whatever they have the most of. I’m sure it was the brisket lean that we got. The brisket here is just so moist and tender! Just thinking about it is making me salivate. We also got the ribs which was tasty, and fell right off the bone! We got the regular sausage. And it’s something you can do without. We only got one and we didn’t even finish it. This place is big and great for big groups. I’m definitely feeling the picnic tables! what’s great is that if you need to doggie bag your food they already have ziplock bags ready. But how can you not finish it all? This place is def a must go when you’re in Huston. TLDR: brisket, ribs. Regular sauce, not sissy sauce. Get extra bread. Skip the sausage. Potato salad. Leave with happy belly.

My friends and I stopped by this place for late-night BBQ. Not gonna lie, we were a little sketched out by the gas station in front. Do not worry-it’s cool inside and does have seating. Once we explained that we had never been to Rudy’s, the employee from Hershey’s, PA was so great at letting us try a sample of everything. I really ended up liking the brisket and the spicy soup, but all the options were of a pretty high quality for the price. In the future, I think I would get the pulled pork sandwich, as my friend really enjoyed that. I would definitely recommend it more for a group than for a date night setting as you can share and mix and match your food better… nobody will have to eat ½ a pound of brisket on their own!

Thanks to some awesome recommendations I decided to bookmark this place for an upcoming business trip. As you can tell by my rating, I am extremely happy I did. Thus far, this is the best barbecue I have ever had. Everything you bite into is juicy, «crusty»(the outside is kinda crispy) and absolutely bursts with flavors throughout the meat. This last point is the reason why I can’t believe the offerings at Rudy’s, the flavor in the middle of a slice of turkey has as much flavor as the exterior. Walking into the restaurant there is a little store to the left with staff that welcomes you and answers any questions you may have. You order at the front in increments of ½ lbs. When you tell them you are a first timer, they give you a taste of the turkey and the brisket both of them jut crushed my expectations. I quickly realized I was in the dark when it came to BBQ. I knew nothing and I was about to learn everything I needed to know. I got the pork ribs, lean brisket(they have juicy as well) and the creamed corn. My co-workers gave me a taste of the cole slaw and the jalapeño sausage. Pork Ribs — take a bite and the meat fell of the bone. You have to literally hold the meat on or eat it with a knife and fork. The smokiness in the meat is deep and perfectly balanced, these are epic Brisket — This is what I would consider to be the staple of the place. The crispiness on the outside adds to the flavor and the«sause»(I know it’s spelled wrong, but it’s how they do here) you add. Creamed Corn — Slightly disappointed here, Although the consistency and the sweetness was there I thought the corn itself was a little soggy. Jalapeño sausage — Spicy and smoky the consistency was there and although it was good, it lacked the amazing«wow» factor that the ribs and the brisket had. Overall this place is a life changer in my book, HIGHLY recommended.

JT’s review was enough to convince me, so I stopped in tonight for dinner. If its your first visit it will be clear to the seasoned veterans in the place. Although it will take some stumbling on your part, just watch a few people that look like they know what’s up and follow their lead. You’ll soon find yourself at a communal table covered with a fresh sheet of paper, utensils, and an OPEN bottle of beer. So much has been said about this place already, but I’m going to give a different perspective. Unlike JT, I chose to stay on the health wagon. Rudy’s website actually shows the nutrition information for each item, and a quick review ahead of time told me that my go to favorites of pork loin and a smoked potato were the healthiest option on the menu. The potato was a bit overcooked, but still enjoyable. The pork loin was lean but a bit dry. When they originally cut my portion of meat they weighed it at 0.33lbs…shy of the ½ lb I ordered. She took it back and added more so it was a total of .61lbs. So don’t worry about leaving hungry. Interestingly, they will give you as much bread as you’d like to go with your meal. They offer a traditional white and Nature’s Own 50 calorie wheat bread. For some reason I said I needed wheat bread and got 2 slices, which I didn’t use. I felt bad about wasting two slices, but I literally saw one guy with a loaf of white bread that had about 50 slices in it. They should consider limiting the slices to cut down on food waste. I hate to see that much getting thrown away. Although they don’t have draft beer(I mean, it is a gas station after all), they do have a good selection of local beer in bottles. I had a nice Saint Arnold Winter Stout that paired very well with the BBQ flavors. If you are in the Houston area and want BBQ, save yourself the search and just go here.
