Methodist Emergency Care Center

I’ve been to this care center on 2 different occasions. Both visits ran by smooth and I was given the proper treatment (the first visit that is.). Unfortunately, when I recently started having black outs I returned to this center again to see what the issue was. I spent about 2 – 3 hours here with doctors running different tests on me and was told at the end of my appointment that «they did not know what was wrong». This was great news I guess. Seeing that I knew it wasn’t too serious!
But, that changed when I got the bill. Not only do you pay to be in the center itself but, you are also required to pay the physicians, radiologists, pathologists, and anesthesiologists! Oh. Did I mention it’s all not in one bill? Yeah. They wait a few months in between each so just when you think you’re finished paying one… there’s another one at your door. I was unaware of each of the charges since, my father paid for my first visit. But, this is simply RIDICULOUS!
Especially since I left knowing what I knew when I got there… NOTHING!
They should definitely start letting the patients aware of the procedures or tests being done and the costs of each thing. Lesson learned! Never going again.
Houston really needs to invest in building a care now center…

01/​24/​2016-​took my elderly mother there and skin rash was misdiagnosed by the physician and she was given an unnecessary heavy duty IV antibitic (her skin problem was viral, not bacterial) and she was sent to Methodist hospital where luckily a dermatologist diagnosed her correctly, and we took her home after one day in the hospital. Would not go there again under any circumstances.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE and may i add a waste of 4 hours. The Dr. Was Arrogant and Lazy Looking. He 2^nd guessed my symptoms i was telling him and then came back with no helpful information. After reading my results found out i have a PELVIC MASS with unexplained Fluid… DUH MAYBE THAT IS THE CAUSE OF MY HIGH SPIKES IN FEVER. Practically threw me out and told me to follow up with my OBGYN. Not to mention the nurse was lazy mocked all my questions and ignored my abdomen pain and didn’t bring me water until i reminded her An Hour and a Half Later. DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS ER CENTER. For the amount of time i tried to save i was better off going to hospital ER

Honestly, this is one of the BEST experiences I had with medical care. Granted I only went there for a big burn on my hand so it isnt much of a measure for their medical abilities.
However I was imideatly received coming through the door, shown inside for a very clean very well equipped private room where I couldnt even complete my paper work because the doctor quickly rushed in to see me. He was very kind and attentive to what I was feeling asked me some quick questions and quickly gave me options to different treatment plans. Then a couple of nurses came in and helped me some more
My visit took a total of 40 minutes «including the 20 minutes I had to wait for observation after they gave me a shot»
Everyone was so nice and caring I honestly had a really pleasant experience Im never going anywhere else again

I’ve made more visits to the ER in the past year than I have in my entire adult life combined thanks to several asthma attacks and an unfortunate collision with a wall that resulted some dermabond to patch up my forehead and a concussion diagnosis. On all but one visit, I went to this ER.
1. They are FAST. Granted all but one my medical «emergencies» were things that needed immediate triage, but I never saw a huge group of folks hanging out in the waiting room while I sprinted to the head of the line. I got the sense that this place wanted to get you in, get you treated, and get you on your way as soon as possible (but no sooner than you needed) rather than make you languish in a room because they were understaffed (like most hospital ERs) or were burdened by layers of bureaucracy (again, like most hospital ERs.) This ER is actually faster than my doctor’s office.
2. The facility is CLEAN. When I visit a hospital, the first thing I want to do when I get home is take a bath. Most hospitals feel like cesspools of germs. The place feels clean.
3. They still customize their treatment to the patient. I think a lot of these readi-​clinics and ERs have handy-​dandy formulas, so if you don’t fit inside the box, they don’t know how to treat you. I was 8 months pregnant when I had the first asthma attack and breastfeeding at the time of another one. Both times the doctors worked with me to find the best treatment options for me, even going so far as to give me a list of options based on drug categories for pregnant and nursing women. Better yet, they weren’t afraid to treat me when I was pregnant, which can be a huge problem.
Finally, I agree with the reviews who noted that they don’t excel at phone follow-​up. After I ran into the wall, I had to go back in the next day for the concussion. They didn’t want to even talk about whether or not I needed to over the phone. Similarly, I had a follow-​up question about a reaction after one of the asthma attacks and the phone nurse was less than helpful. That said, this remains an excellent ER and one I would go to first if, god forbid, I have the need to visit one again in the future.

Had to take my grandma here on her drs orders when she got a serious staff infection. She ended up having to be ultimately transferred to a hospital to deal with the infection, but they were able to set her up with pain medication and keep her comfortable until they were able to make the transfer. Be mindful of which door you walk into, for there is a dentist office next door, and that’s what I walked into first. Overall, a clean facility that would be useful to go to if you need something more basic taken care of. Plus from what I saw the wait time would be significantly less if there is any at all. And with the parking set up like it is, it is easy to get in and out of, and you don’t have to pay for parking either.

Worst experience I could have asked for in an ER. Since I am younger than most patients and looked healthy, they basically ignored me for 9 hours, although I kept bugging someone (anyone) to help me. Every time I asked someone for anything I felt like it was an imposition.

I was utterly disappointed at the doctor there… I was there for a bad abdominal pain.
The doctor’s behavior was unacceptable., I felt like he was ridiculing me or making fun of me behind my back. One of the most rude and insensitive doctors I came across. He literally made fun of my kids, and my pain on my face. I would never ever want to go there again, ever. That place, it’s doctors, pathetic!
, he didn’t ask many questions, got all my blood work and ultrasound done but everything came out normal. Still I had the severe pain. the doctor not only didn’t address my pain but his attitude offended me and I felt extremely humiliated. He Didnt want to discuss anything with me… When I asked the nurse to call the doctor before discharging me, that I wanted to ask him what the pain was about, he never came., I waited for about fifteen to twenty before leaving with the same pain I came in with… All that time I was there at Methodist, I felt humiliated as the doctor, I believe whose names were Lindsay Thomas and Dr Miller, completely ignored my complaints, Didnt recommend or advised anything to me, didnt have anything to tell me what might had caused the pain… The doctor there made me feel awe full.

Fast and friendly. ER doctors, labs, and Cat Scan machines. Without the wait of a hospital Emergency Room. They can also admit you to the hospital if needed.

I went to the Methodist Emergency Care Center because my daughter had a very high fever that wasn’t coming down and I didn’t want to go to bed until she saw a doctor. My visit there was quick and professional, the doctor had the nurses give her more Motrin and said she could have a virus or an allergic reaction but I should take her to see her pediatrician the next day. I was kind of disappointed to go home still wondering what was going on, but felt better going to bed knowing a doctor had seen her and didn’t seem to think it was dangerous.
The problem I have is with the $ 1250 bill I got a few weeks later. I am self employed, therefore self insured and don’t have the best coverage, but I think $ 1250 for a tsp of Motrin and to be told to see a different doctor, who figured out the problem and charged $ 90, is unethical. Unfortunately, after numerous phone calls no one else seems to think its a big deal and I haven’t even been offered even a small discount.

If you are not having a life threatening emergency, but still need urgent care– I stropgly reccomend this clinic.
our wait time to see the doctor was 45 mins, within 5 mins of signing in we were assesed by a nurse. total time in and out was 1 hours and 15 mins. Not bad at all!!!
Especially considering there were quite a few people in the waiting room. Compared the the ER at the Methodist Hospital, this place is about 5 times faster.

Very pleased with the immediate service that I received. Within seconds of walking in, a nurse greeted me, got me into a room and bed, interviewed me and started testing me. A doctor came to check on me within minutes The labs results took a bit longer to come in but all in all, everything was pretty swift. For my condition, I was in and out within 3 hours.
Facility was clean. All rooms are private so it’s not like being stuck in an emergency room where everything is out in the open. There’s also a TV in each room which makes waiting hours for your lab results a bit more bearable.
Sorry to say but this is one 4-​star establishment I wish to never revisit.

My initial visit at this place was actually great — I had a very good doctor who got me fixed up in no time.
But when I called a while later to ask some questions about a medication he prescribed, I got a nurse who gave me NOTHING but attitude. She refused to explain the side effects of the prescription to me, saying that would be «dispensing medical advice over the phone» (which isn’t true at all, sorry), and she wouldn’t let me talk to anyone senior to her or to the doctor on staff. I kept reiterating that I just needed her to explain whether the medication would cause an interaction, and she finally hung up on me.
So, if you have a simple problem, they’re fine for that, but don’t expect the staff to help you with any aftercare, even if it involves something as simple as a medication question. They’ll just tell you that you have to come in again (and pay at least a $ 100 co-​pay just to get a medication question answered!). Basically they’re just after your money.
My best advice is to go to a REAL emergency room and not a «center» like this, and if you’re stuck going here instead, call your personal doctor for aftercare questions, because this place won’t help you. They don’t care.
