History

Established in 2006.

I Cycle bike shop was the satellite store of Cyclone Cycles for 6 years before splitting away and becoming I Cycle in 2006. The owner has been working in the bicycle industry, helping people enjoy cycling and racing bikes for over 25 years. All of our staff races and rides and just loves cycling. Let us share our passion for riding with you ! We stay up to date on all the latest developments in cycling by attending trade shows and technical seminars. I Cycle is heavily involved in the cycling community, supporting BikeHouston, the Ride of Silence, and fielding an MS150 and racing team. We can teach you how to fix a flat or get you ready for your first race.

I grew up on a bike. We didn’t have video games. We were out riding. I went from working part-​time at a bike shop to managing a bike shop to being a sales rep in the bike biz to owning my own shop. Racing the whole time. Not always winning, but out there riding. Currently, i sit on the board of BikeHouston, working to make Houston a better place for cyclists. I became the ride organizer for the Ride Of Silence after a friend and customer was run down and killed by a negligent motorist. I live, eat, breathe, and dream riding bikes. Thanks for reading this. Just picked our bikes up after a much needed tune up, ride home was such a pleasure, after riding the last couple of weeks with clunks and squeaky brakes… my bad should have gotten them in earlier,
Service was professional and friendly and we had our bikes back in record time. thank you we will be back… as you say even if it’s only to fill our water bottles before our next tune up.

I have no bike repair experience so I had to trust the staff here to assist me with my bike repairs.
They were all very nice and helpful.

These guys were really helpful and friendly to my sister and I on a leisurely Saturday bike ride. Full disclosure, my sister and I haven’t ridden much since we were kids. The guys at icycle (Chad and a guy with a beard whose name i didn’t get) fixed our minor problems (user error) and tuned up our bikes (bought elsewhere) for free. They were nice and understanding. We will be back for something later even though they are a bit pricier than a big box store. These guys are great and located right of the white oral trail.

We haven’t bought a bike from I Cycle yet, but when the needs arises next, we’ll be here. Our dog Bailey really wants one. She got out yesterday morning. I work from home a lot and get to stay with her, so she is used to having someone home — and she throws temper tantrums when she gets left behind and chews on the wood fence and lattice (I honestly think she is trying to get out to come find us).
She managed to tear through the lattice on the bottom of the house — in the backyard yesterday morning, climb under the house and tear through it again on the front of the house and then she went shopping… at I Cycle.
They took care of her and gave her a place to sleep until we found her on the neighborhood fb page this morning. We are incredibly thankful and feel like any bike store that is this kind to lost dogs, MUST be a great place to buy a bike.

Matt and his team are nice guys that provide well priced quality servicing and all types of bikes for sale.
I had my hybrid bike serviced for $ 60 and it has never ride better.
I ended up purchasing a new mountain bike there after considering it for about a week. Matt gave me a hell of a deal and I couldn’t be happier.
If you are considering a bike, don’t waste your time at Academy or a Walmart. Go here and get something that go over all of the Houston potholes with ease!

I really want to like this bicycle shop because it is in the neighborhood, but I just don’t trust them. We bought a bike and were told we could have a free tuneup. When we brought the bike back in, we were told we had waited too long and they would not honor the free tuneup. Then, another worker said they would give us a tuneup but they would charge us $ 25. When we got the bike back, I noticed that they had not even cleaned or lubed the chains of the bike. I know this because before I left I looked at the bike and noticed dirt in several locations on the chain and wondered if these guys were actually going to clean the bike. They did not, and when we got the bike back the same dirt I saw when I dropped the bike off was still there. Basically, they lied to me about the free tuneup and then took money to clean the bike and never touched it. It’s really too bad because they have a great location and if they were more honest they would have a great business.
I’m sure the owner will post some sort of negative comment to my review as he has done with others, but facts are facts. Buyer beware.

These guys are amazing at bike repair and tune-​ups! I took my year-​old Trek hybrid (bought elsewhere) in last week for several issues – broken spoke, sticky brakes, slipping gears, wheel out of plumb, etc – and Matt assessed all the bike’s issues on the spot. I had been been riding 100+ miles/​week over the last year and the bike had never really ridden well since I bought it (from a large competitor). I had previously taken the bike back to where I bought it, and they would adjust a couple things and send me on my way, but nothing really improved in terms of the feel and the ride.
I knew this time it was in need of a major tune-​up, and Matt agreed. He totaled up the estimate on the spot ($ 210) and said they would call me if it was going to be $ 10 more than that, and the bike would be done on Wednesday (this was on Saturday evening just before closing time).
I got a call on Tuesday that the bike was done a day early. Picked it up, paid the amount of the exact estimate, and was out the door with my «new» bike. It looked amazing! But the real surprise was a couple days later when I took it out for a 30-​mile spin. It rode so well I almost didn’t recognize my bike, no shifting issues, felt so much easier to ride, and everything rode smoothly. I was grinning from ear to ear. I have never ever been so pleased with a bike repair in all my life.
My next bike purchase will absolutely be from Icycle! I highly recommend them, even if you didn’t purchase your bike there. Thanks again, Matt and crew!

Went in with 0 knowledge. Just wanted to get bicycles for the nearby trails. They walked us through the different starter options, and showed us the selection. Test rode, measured, and chose the two we wanted.

I am a newbie bike enthusiast, but it seems that these guys know their stuff, in my opinion anyways. When I walked in, all staff members were working on bikes. They have me good information and tips. The guys who work there seem genuinely happy to work there and it is evident they love bikes. Plus, they have access to a large parking lot to test ride some great bikes. I have a road bike on hold for me at a major competitor (who I visited 5 times at 2 locations), but I am going to be buying a bike from Icycle. The attention level to customers is different than my experience with a bike bike competitor, but that could be subjective.
This review is based on my personal experience and all statements made herein reflect my personal opinion only. Your experience may be completely different.

I thought long and hard before going for two stars. I’d give the tune up service 4 stars for enthusiasm and honesty but 0 stars for results. Mistakes made at the most basic level. Lack of knowledge of Trek features. Failure to inflate tires. Front Rim flipped so odometer magnet and sensor no longer aligned. They removed and disassembled a factory part — the Clix Ez release skewer — and replaced it with the basic $ 10 skewer. It took some talking to convince them I knew my bike and I had to suffer an explanation of how I was using it wrong (no) and how I could have been seriously hurt (no) and what I didn’t understand (tuneup guy was the one with lack of knowledge not me.
They may be the best but not with my bike. Service was sincere but poor.
Note: I had checked Unilocal before and the reviews were solid. What I overlooked was the fact that on one negative review — a very reasonable, even funny poor review — the shop responded to call the poster a liar. Hope I I don’t receive the same sort of reply!

Great shop. And having grown up working in a bicycle shop, I feel confident with that assessment. Came in with two broken spokes and discovered both wheels were actually structurally unsound. I went and squeezed a couple of the spokes and they crumbled under light pressure — thank goodness I didn’t just try to go ride like that! They also knew exactly what had caused the issue: storing the bike in a shed with pool chemicals. (It seems strange to me that I never encountered this at my dad’s shop, but apparently down here in Houston it is pretty common!)
Anyway — this place passed muster: Honest? Check. Knowledgable? Check. Friendly? Check. Quick? Check. Good selection? Check. Reasonably priced? Check.
So go check ‘em out ;)

On the night of the moonlight bicycle ramble I had a flat and bad tire and luckily they were open till 2am that night in order to replace the tire and tube. I had been having a ton of flats recently and they caught the issue that was causing it. They also found a few other issues with my bike so I decided to bring it in the next day to get fixed.
The following monday I brought in my bike and my wifes bike to get tuned and fixed. They did a number of things to my bike (replaced chain/​cassette, fixed rack which i hadn’t installed all that great). As part of the detailed tune up they cleaned up my bike as well. They had the bike done by tuesday which was fantastic. And the best part was that it looked new and there was a noticeable difference in how well it rode. I had taken it to other shops before that hadn’t caught some of the issues with the bike, and am really glad they did. I’m very happy with the service and definitely taking my bike back there.

I just upgraded my road bike as per the owner’s suggestion (Matt), and it was the best money I’ve ever spent on this sport! They take the time to learn what your goals are in the sport and what your strengths and weaknesses are, and then they fit you to the right bike for YOU. You won’t get this service from a corporate owned bike shop, believe me!
I Cycle has the bike for you, regardless if you are an entry level beginner, experienced, or avid cyclist. They will help you get connected to ride groups that fit your skill level and your goals.
Try them before you buy, you’ll be glad you did!

These guys did a great job resurrecting a mountain bike a friend had given me. It rides like a new bike without the new-​bike price. They also had it done in far fewer days than they estimated, so it was in and out in less than 2 days.
A year or so back, I had a double-​flat on my other bike on White Oak Bayou. These guys didn’t just sell me new tubes after I’d walked it there (loooong walk. why don’t I ever have flats near a store?). They provided me with a bike rack, tools, and a pump so I could get it all replaced quickly myself, without once trying to sell me on paying them to do the job. It was like being in a good friend’s garage.
Only downside on a weekend is that they don’t have a very efficient system for keeping track of who is next, and people waiting on a small adjustment or advice can wait a while if there’s a crowd building. But, such is life in a busy shop. Come with a bit of patience, or come during the week.

Really enjoyed my recent experience at i cycle. The entire crew there was very friendly and helpful. Went in the first time to just browse and they let me test drive as many bikes as I wanted, even pulling down from tall racks for me. Eventually made an order with them since they didn’t have the bike I wanted in stock and it arrived promptly and appeared as expected. I have a handful of friends who shop here and all have been highly satisfied. One friend purchased a bike from Target and took it in to I Cycle for a tuning shortly after purchase and came away feeling like he had a major upgrade.

So, what do you do when a guy who knows nothing about bikes comes into your shop to ask questions because he’s thinking about getting into the sport/
Apparently, if you work at I Cycle, you tell him he’s stupid. Seriously, that is exactly what the guy told me! I know what you’re thinking, there has to be more to this story? Nope! I went in riding (admittedly) a less than spectacular starter bike. I, with the smile of a novice looking to make friends, tell the guy «hey, I’m looking at getting into biking. Can you help me check this out and see if this is a good starter? If I like it, I plan on buying a good bike.» I thought I was being more than humble, but apparently I wasn’t submissive enough with my «questions» and «smiling» and the like. The guy comes up to me, looks at my bike and simply says «you should throw that bike away. You were stupid to buy it in the first place.»
Naturally, as the peaceful avoider of jail time that I am, I held in my anger and said «alright man, that cool.» and walked out.
Despite this, I did stick around to look at prices and the like. I’ll hit you with the facts, some of which I reluctantly give as they are positive:
–The bikes are little more than what I call reasonably priced but also a little less than I would call expensive (based on comparison shopping on the internet.)
–Even though they were decidedly douchey to me, I noticed that the guy in the back fixing a kids bike seemed relatively nice and pretty knowledgeable. He not only fixed the kids bike, but he told him how to keep up maintenance without having to come back over and over again.
–They have a good selection. For the small size, they have packed in good number of bikes and accessories.
–Finally, the salesperson customer service is what I would call «terrible-​horrible-​no good-​very bad service». If service is not a big deal to you, I would suggest you check it out. But, and I warn you, be prepared to be treated stupid.
