These donuts are the best, and they are a great hit in the office!

This is the second time I tried a Hugs & Donuts and I’m still impressed! I haven’t tried the yeast donuts, but I’m in love with cake donuts. The Birthday Cake and the Blueberry Cake with Lemon Glaze are different from other cake donuts I’ve tried — so airy, soft and moist! Not only does the icing have flavor but also the cake itself! I noticed the swirls of purple and white inside my blueberry cake donut! They have quite a selection of different flavored donuts which is pretty awesome and I noticed they don’t run out of it (well at lunchtime there were still well stocked). I find it difficult for me to just pick one! Love it, gotta come back and try every flavor!!!

I really enjoy the specialty donuts here. I’ve had the Maple Bacon, Green Tea Coconut Cake Donut, and the Blueberry Cake with Lemon Glaze and they were all amazing. I especially love the cake donuts because they’re so fluffy and moist. I still want to go back and try the other assorted donuts as well as the non-​donut items.
Hugs & Donuts is a small cozy little shop but there is plenty of parking that it shares with it’s neighboring establishments. The shop is clean and the staff is super friendly!

Hands down the best donut I’ve ever had in my whole life. You may think you know why Homer Simpson loves his beloved donut but unless you’ve had «The Homer» from here you have no clue. H&D does serious justice to Homer. I love donuts… I mean… Who doesn’t?! However, I’ve never actually thought about how great a donut truly was until today. Thank you, kind donut makers of H&D. You are making the world a better place, one round pastry at a time.

If you’re looking for a fun place to bring friends and family members, yummy food, cute environment — then turn your car around and go elsewhere. These donuts tasted like a kindergartener made them in class, stuffed them in their lunch box to take home and show mom, and then somehow ended up on the shelf to be served

The donuts are delicious. I’m a big fan of the vegan options. I loved that they had simple options as well as original glazed for the vegan choices.
Small and cute! Has a few tables.
Service is good.
Prices are reasonable.

I’m a sucker for these new school styled donut shops, I love the whimsy and exciting flavor combos that these type of places bring to the table but often the bread itself isn’t as fluffy as I like and the texture is closer to a bun than a doughnut. Hugs & Donuts have it down though, they make a classic light, crispy donut but they bring all the fun with flavors. It’s a match made in heaven, I only wish I lived closer to Houston so I could come here more often!
Plus plus, for the flavor combinations, price and overall creativity. This is definitely not something you should consume on a daily basis but maybe I would!

Definitely a fan of Hugs & Donuts. Had them for the first time and donuts were super delicious. I had the Fruity Pebbles and Purple Rain and both very yummy.
Place is really small but cute. Its out of the way for me since I’m in River Oaks but definitely worth making that drive.
Staff was friendly and helpful especially since I asked several questions since it was my first time there. Overall, I definitely recommend trying them even if you’re not near the Heights area. I’ll be going back.

Nice donut spot. I came around 12 on a Sunday morning so it wasn’t busy. The ladies behind the counter was nice and friendly. Although they didn’t explain the different donut flavors or suggest the good ones; its pretty self explanatory of what each donut consists of. I had the pleasure of tasting the Pimp C and Blueberry donut. Both were soft and moist. It wasn’t hot though. It wasn’t overly sweet so it won’t give you an headache. It also doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth.
The inside of the store is small and comfortable. There’s about 3 tables ⁴⁄₅ chairs at each. There’s also a long table looking towards the outside. I like this place because they play some good music. If I’m ever in Houston again I will come back.

I love donuts in general, but when you add creative twists to donuts — I’m totally on board.
My roommate introduced me to Hugs and Donuts, and I’ve been hooked since.
What I appreciate about this place the most is their creative liberty in the flavors and concepts of the donuts.
One of my favorite donuts is the Green Tea Coconut donut — for a shop to get me to eat and like coconut is an impressive feat. The cookie butter donut and lemon meringue are also crowd pleasers.
They sometimes have daily specials close to their closing time, so be on the lookout!
The workers are also really kind, greeting people with a smile everytime I go! You can tell that the people who work there are really passionate about food and making sure everyone is happy when they leave.

Came here on Sunday around 11 last week and wasn’t packed. I got the Oreo (yeast), Fruity Pebbles (cake), Maple Bacon (yeast), Chocolate Sprinkles (yeast), Strawberry Shortcake (yeast I think), and Coconut green tea.
The all-​around favorites were by far the Maple Bacon and Strawberry Shortcake. The strawberry shortcake had jam in the center and it offset any sweetness one might think a bit much. This was my favorite. The maple bacon had a really nice maple flavor to it and the saltiness from the bacon combined with the sweet kept me wanting more since my tastebuds always get confused with sweet+salty mixes.
The Fruity Pebbles had something off about it, almost chemical-​y aftertaste. The coconut green tea didn’t have much of a coconut or green tea flavor. Those two I wouldn’t really get again. The Oreo had a big puddle of chocolate in the center and I of course swiped that part of the donut. It wasn’t anything special but it was good.
And you can’t go wrong with chocolate sprinkles.
I’ve also tried the blueberry cake donut here on another occassion and that was a real winner. So far, their yeast donuts are better than their cake donuts, but get the blueberry!
Everyone said the donuts were nowhere as overly sweet as they were afraid it might be and thought it was just right. Also, really fresh and not oily. And not dry. I never understood dry, but oily donuts. You won’t find that here!

My name is Adrianna and I stalk donut places online !! So, I have been dying to try this place since seeing it was voted one the top shops in the country !! I was expecting a long line as previously noted in other reviews, but today there was no line ! Just friendly service and delicious donuts !
We ordered 9 in total, tried 3 while in the shop and took the rest home… Wink wink (ate them in the car)
Loved the biscotti cookie butter and the Brittle Broad which was made with lavender … Sounded kinda weird but was a refreshing delight. The prices were to be expected for fancy fun donuts. The service was friendly and sweet. Overall, great experience and I am so happy we made the trip to this cute lil shop !!

Hugs & Donuts. Give me one person who doesn’t like hugs or donuts. I know what you’re thinking… but I’m trying to get that spring break body tight! I hear ya! But come on, a couple donuts and a couple hours in the gym and it’s like it never happened. Better yet, have your buddy dangle a donut on a fishing pole as you run on a treadmill. If you successfully make your goal, that donut that’s just out of reach is yours. Get in my belly!
Hugs & Donuts is in the same shopping center as Ka and Fat Cat Creamery. Even though the surrounding area is a bit worn down, the area is really on the way up with some legit restaurants in the area. Southern Goods, Bernadine’s, and Cane Russo (which will be opening soon). Hugs & Donuts has a great name. This standard of excellence extends in the actual shop. Even though it’s small, the tables are round with holes in the middle… shaped like donuts you see?! They mainly offer donuts, kolaches, and coffee.
I happened to stroll on in on a Friday afternoon and they were having kolache happy hour buy one, get one free. From what I could gather, they have frequent happy hours but it’s not standardized in the sense that it occurs from this time until that time. A little more free-​flowing which is a bit frustrating if you’re trying to make a trip to make sure you hit HH. I wouldn’t give the kolaches a hug. They had an interesting variety. I went with the McLovin (eggs, breakfast sausage, cheese) and the BBQ Brisket. The kolaches were lukewarm, I would’ve popped them in the microwave for a bit or at least asked if I would McLove it that way. But alas, you’re really here for the donuts.
And the donuts do deserve hugs. Creativity abounds with the selection and I tried one of their most popular selections: the strawberry shortcake which is all that you would hope for. A donut with the top glazed, crumbles on top, and strawberry jam in the middle! So many good choices, it seems like you really can’t go wrong. They even have a bell that you can ring if you want a free hug. I’m not sure if they go through with it but I did not give it a try. If you want free hugs or not free but delicious donuts, you know where to go. That spring break body can wait until tomorrow.

This is a long overdue review of what has become my go-​to spot for donuts. I have told them a few times that they are the reason I now like donuts! I have yet to find one that I do not like; each one is like heaven. Each one is so tasty, so creative and so fresh. Who would’ve thought you could make a donut that tastes exactly like a piece of fresh lemon meringue pie? Or a slice of Boston Crème pie? Or a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich?

S’mores — love the creamy chocolate filling, slightly charred marshallow topping with graham crackers crumbs
Biscoff Cookie Butter — cookie butter and crushed biscoff cookies… need I say more?
Lemon Meringue — tart and tangy lemon filling with a charred meringue on top
Mango Fritter — omg, they rotate fritter flavors
Drunk Boston — imagine boston crème pie with bourbon!
Bourbon Pecan — now imaging pecan pie with bourbon!
Fat Elvis — oh Elvis how you’d love this banana cake donut with bacon, peanuts, banana chips & pb
Peanut Butter & Jelly — topped with pb, filled with strawberry jelly
Gingerbread — holiday item — gingerbread cake donut with cream cheese frosting and gingerbread bits
Cubano Kolache has pulled pork, ham, pickles & stone ground mustard for dipping
A flipside is that they also have Katz coffee and Jimmy has his own drink creation with consists of espresso with 24hr cold brew with mocha, caramel and other goodies; I definitely prefer this jolt of caffeine but caramel style. Jimmy had a great idea coming up with that for sure.
Lately the line has been insane getting in on the weekend, but it is SO worth the wait for these sweet, tasty delights. As the donuts sell, fresh ones are coming out of the kitchen. A definite must try if you haven’t yet!

Hugs and Donuts has slithered its way into our normal routine and into our hearts. Because they make vegan donuts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, my allergy-​ridden toddler gets a special treat and some sense of normal childhood. (Note: they DO use soy. But no dairy and no eggs) And now that they give her a donut sticker every time we go… Well there you go. That’s a formula to get a toddler obsessed with a place and ask for DONUTS nonstop. Vegan donuts DO NOT taste like normal ones but the poor child will never know the difference.
Since the toddler has anchored us to this pricey donut shop, I’ve had a chance to explore the varieties. My favorite donuts are now the green tea, mocha latte, strawberry, and birthday cake. Not all fritters are created equal and the pineapple is still the best.
Expect to wait a long azzzzz time at peak hours (weekend mornings). Also expect REALLY inefficient bagging. I think I walked out of here holding 4 different individual donut baggies. They have happy hour so it’s BOGO donuts the hour before close. I’m not sure if it’s every day but I’ve seen it advertised on their Instagram. Worth a call before heading over for a mid-​afternoon snack!

I had high expectations for this place, but thought the donuts were just okay. They just didn’t have that much flavor. We tried a ½ dozen of flavors… blueberry, chocolate salted caramel, oreo, etc. our favorite was the yeast glazed donut with oreo frosting. The middle of donut had a glob of delicious chocolate frosting.
I thought the donuts were kinda dry and just not flavorfull. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They need to have knives available so people can cut their donuts for sharing.

DELICIOUS! Wow, I did not know such a solid donut place has been in Houston this whole time. Maybe it’s for the better because the first time I came here I got a half dozen donuts for myself and NO REGRETS.
Banana Peanut Butter (⁴⁄₅) — Crunchy nuts on top, not too sweet. Did not have remarkable peanut butter or banana flavors as the nuts tend to overpower it, but still a very good donut.
Cookie butter (¹⁰⁄₅) — GETTT THIIIIIISSSSSS. JUST GEEET ITTTTT.
Blueberry cake donut (⁵⁄₅) — Best BB cake donut I’ve had. Not super cakey but still has that consistency while being soft with fresh scents of blueberry. Yummy.
Peach fritter (⁴⁄₅) — Not bad but a little on the sweeter side. Solid fritter in general as it was not close to being dry at all.
Girl scout thin mint (⁵⁄₅) — DELICIOUS. The thin mints on top of the donut was superb with every bite of soft sweet donut.
Chocolate latte (⁴⁄₅) — Not something I would drive out for but it was nice. Not a strong coffee or chocolate flavor, but you do taste the hints of the richness of coffee and chocolate.
Love this place. I would drive another 25 minutes just to hug that cookie butter donut again.

While a step above the general fare you can find dotting the Houston breakfast confectionery landscape, Hugs & Donuts is «all right” – nothing groundbreaking, but nothing to just shrug aside and simply dismiss if you’re in the area and looking for a donut to sink your teeth into.
There are some pretty interesting combinations present here, from the cereal-​laced donuts that inspire nostalgia to the usual fare, to some inspired choices, like the green tea-​infused donut we tried. They are beautiful to look at – but that, to me, is really where it ends.
Each «flavored» donut that I’ve had a bite of from Hugs has been generally overpowered and muted by the prevalent taste of «donut», a slightly oil taste and afternote of donut bread and the oil it was fried in. The green tea donut I recently tried I had hoped to get an actual matcha flavor out of, but there was nothing. Just a typical donut flavor that wasn’t really worth the price tag.
I really wanted to love this place, but in my handful of visits and what I have tried I just can’t see where the hype comes from when each item sampled so far tastes the same as the last. I’ll continue to give patronage to them when in the area, but frankly I’ll probably stick to the usual array of standard donuts and Old Fashioned’s. The «gourmet» items are fun, but the taste just isn’t there.

I’ve been trying to find a donut shop comparable to The Grove Do-​Nutz in Sugarland and this one comes pretty close!
They offer a wide selection of donuts and they are quite creative, so it was very difficult to choose 3 donuts for my friend and I. After much consideration, we chose the Biscoff Cookie Butter, One Night in Paris, & the King Cake.
My absolute favorite was the One Night in Paris. I loved the crunch in the topping. It reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch and the fruit, I believe was either peach/​apricot paired well with it.
The King Cake donut was surprisingly the smallest donut which I found funny because of the name of the donut, but it still tasted good with lots of icing!
By the time, I took a bite of the Biscoff Cookie Butter donut, I was completely stuffed and overstuffed with sugar, but I wouldn’t mind getting this donut again.
One of my favorite things about this donut shop was their milk «on tap» and the different variations of milk. I got a whole cup of strawberry milk for $ 2.50, which is a steal to me. Most donut shops that I’ve been to don’t even offer strawberry milk, let alone sell it for only $ 2.50.
Please give this donut shop a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I love the donuts here! And I love the huge selection of flavors they have everyday. Whenever I want to splurge on donuts and treat myself, this is my go to spot! (It’s also located next to fat cat creamery, so in the afternoon, you can make yourself a donut ice cream sandwich. Yum!)
Since they opened, I have probably tried every single flavor they have offered. My favorites are probably the blueberry cake donut, homer simpson, and strawberry shortcake. Overall, all their donuts are tasty though! I have tried their kolaches and was not too impressed. The various fillings are good but the bread was a little dry… perhaps it was an off day, but I didn’t like it as much as the donuts.
I like that they have been continuously updating their options and now even offer Vegan donuts based on what the customers have asked for. This is one of my go to spots for donuts and I highly recommend going, it’s definitely worth it!
