If you can’t tell by the star rating I love this place! We’ve had 5 different drinks from the signature cocktails and they were solid! Bartenders are attentive but not overly so which is perfect. Very cool vibe. Great place to catch up with a few friends or for a post-dinner date without having to yell at each other. Good to start the night if you plan to go to the clubs around the area afterwards. Prices are good! Anywhere between $ 5 – 9

Coffee, Alcohol and not much else. I went on a Saturday mid afternoon and there was maybe 4 – 5 others besides myself. It was quiet and pretty chill in there. The atmosphere and general vibe of the whole place was very cool. It has a very 1950’s Alfred Shaheen Hawaiian«look» to it which I fell in love with. My boyfriend had a coldbrew coffee with a touch of cream and sugar that was delightfully strong, and I had a coffee cocktail that I cannot remember the name of, but incorporated coconut rum, coffee and some sort of cream alcohol and was very delicious. Our bartender was friendly and gave some good suggestions without seeming pretentious like you see at many other«hip» coffee shops and bars. After we had our drinks, he was not incredibly talkative and went back to working on other bar tasks like cutting lemons and making pots of coffee and generally left us alone unless we looked like we needed something, which was actually very welcome. This is a great place to sit and really have a conversation with a couple friends, or even come by yourself to read or work or whatever. It’s not really the sort of bar I’d imagine getting«turnt» as though haha. I’d like to see what it’s like at night or during a «busy» time of day. Lastly, when I looked at the menu there were no food or appetizer options which I would have loved to look over. Don’t come here hungry. I don’t believe they even have a full kitchen setup in the back. Should they ever plan to remodel, I’d like it if they considered adding in a few eats.

From cold brews to craft brews, this place has it all and everything in-between! I used to swing by here before or after work when I lived around the corner. It’s located on the quieter side of Midtown but also nestled by Continental Club and Alley Kat(another gem) if you’re looking for more. Laid back bartenders, tiki-ish atmosphere, and enough IPAs to keep this gal happy– makes for a fun, easy peasy date night too! Plus, it gives me an excuse to hangout before heading downtown to the bus transit. Yay!

I wish here briefly, neat spot by the tracks, on the quieter side of midtown. Good beer selection, slightly divey, but also somewhat refined. Staff was busy but still efficient and friendly, and prices are on the low end for the neighborhood. All in in all a slice of urban civility your hipster mileage may vary.

This may become a regular spot for me! It’s next to my favorite taco place(shout out to Tacos A Go Go) and their drinks are so good! The clever names are helpful as well went for their happy hour with a few friends and we tried a few cocktails and beer. My favorite cocktail was called Man Up — gin, grapefruit juice and happy camper IPA. The décor of the bar is boho/welcoming and they have a dog friendly front patio!

I have been here twice before yesterday, and both times were mediocre experiences. I really want to love this place! They have pecan milk! The location is great! The coffee shop is cute! But, the baristas are always pretentious and freaking rude. I have been a barista myself for the last 8 years, as well as a full time stylist, and my partner just so happens to be a chef working in a restaurant where she is often a barista! We are not strangers to the industry, or how customer service works… My espresso was burnt, but the pecan milk in my latte was so delicious that I didn’t complain. My partner was scoffed at when she ordered pecan milk in her flat white(pretentious and rude), and her espresso was pulled way too long and tasted burnt as well. I really, really want to like this place but, yesterday’s experience just did me in. Highly disappointed.

Cool spot I came to for coffee on a Monday late morning. The price was decent and the coffee was good. This is also a car I plan on coming to at night. It seems to be dog friendly too. Try it out if youre in the area.

I haven’t still found a better place to catch up with a few friends, grab some drinks and have amazing time than Double Trouble. As a dog owner I value the possibility to bring my dog there as they are pretty dog friendly. The staff is friendly and nice and the décor of the place is so cute. All those random knick knacks make me feel great and cozy. Even though I’m female, there is no bigger beer fan than I am in Houston area lol. And these guys have pretty good selection! And their desserts are incredible!

I love this place. Right off Main Street near the Continental Club, Double Trouble can be just that– a great place to grab a cup of coffee or a place to grab a great drink. The patio has a tiki vibe to it, while the indoors retain the same vibe while being a bit more urban. You’ll find a number of students and whatnot on laptops lining the corners taking advantage of the Wi Fi. Their coffee is on par with the other top coffee shops in Houston, and their drinks are solid as well. From reading some of the other reviews, the latter is apparent– if it’s run by former Poison Girl bartenders, you know you’re going to get a good drink. I like trying their various alcoholic coffee drinks. They have a half dozen varieties, all of which have a unique taste and appeal, but blend perfectly.

I came here late a night because a needed a place to study; probably not the best idea because the wifi connection goes in and out. I can’t comment on the drinks since I don’t like alcohol, but I did have a few different coffee drinks to keep me up and they were all good! They have options to add soy and almond milk, extra syrup, and whipped cream! The atmosphere is a described as Hipster on Unilocal and that is spot on, haha. Definitely a good place to people watch!

Antique looking inside, very casual. Has a nice little patio outside. Bartenders didn’t service me till about 5 minutes later. I got the Betty Whizzle which has titos, double espresso and and some sort of cream. Mine wasn’t more on the sweet side, it was more bitter. Worth a try, since they said it was one of the more popular drinks. I actually enjoyed more of the people watching, cool breeze, on the patio.

The place is cool, and the coffee is good, but the wifi sucks. Right now it doesn’t accept the password at all and I have to use my cell phone tethering. Not what I expected when going to a coffee shop.

My favorite bar in Houston hands down! Awesome cocktails and they can grind a coffee bean with perfection. The bartenders make their syrups for the drinks! Patio is cool too, right on Main with the Light Rail. I recommend«The Bruce Lee».

Came here on a Tuesday night with some co-workers just to have a drink and hang out a bit. It was pretty empty but the atmosphere was kind of relaxing and nice. I also like the layout of the place but I’d say it’s good for groups of 2 or 3’s not any larger. It might be a good place for coffee lovers to go if you want to drink and talk/chat while not being surrounded by people plugged into their laptops and books all around you. They have coffee and cocktails as the name suggests but I didn’t try any coffee — maybe next time. White russian was ok, cream soda was ok, and the nuttersquash or whatever the little dessert cookie is called was ok. Unfortunately this place is located in kind of a shady area and someone in my group had their car broken into on the block. It’s not the bar’s fault but it’s still a deterrent towards me coming back into the area.

Not what you’d expect a coffee shop to look like but to my surprise it turned out to be really tasty(I had the homemade coconut cream syrup in my coffee), nice quiet place, wouldn’t mind going again…

Go here if you want Great drinks. Why? Because it’s a bar that was opened by bartenders! Whoa that is crazy awesome! Their cocktails are crafty goodness that make me feel good all over. Every one of their coffees I’ve tried so far is better than any of those terrible soul sucking coffee chains. Double Trouble’s Bartender-baristas are super stars, bucks go further here, and try whatever they recommend.

I like the place for three things: 1. Cool staff :) 2. beer from Colorado(yummie) 3. The atmosphere(see point 1). Unfortunately they do not serve food, some snacks only. But in the neighborhood there is a Mexican place with great food :)

I had really high expectations for this place, which must have set me up for disappointment. To be perfectly clear– I disliked both of my cocktails and I felt that the service was average. However, I think the venue is nice and this place has a lot of potential. Cocktails are not good at all. I ordered a coffee beverage, which not only didn’t taste like coffee but didn’t taste like much of anything. It was bitter, and I ended up sipping it down fast to get it over with. Maybe I should have ordered one of the ones with whip cream(it’s pretty hard to mess that up) but I really didn’t want to ruin my night by starting out with a massive sugar high. My date got a $ 6 ready made cocktail, advertised as «whiskey tinted with orange zest, cinnamon and nutmeg.» He’s a big fan of old-fashioneds, and was excited to try a cool alternative approach. However, it just tasted like iced fireball. Not strong at all, and hard to even get down. Service was friendly enough, and the place was rather crowded. I feel like they may have good espresso, and maybe they just cater to a different type of crowd. I’m a huge fan of caffeine and cocktails, but Double Trouble isn’t for me

So my first thought walking in was«I’m in a bar at 9am». It doesn’t exactly look like a coffee shop but the fancy espresso machine in the corner says hey, why not? So we did. We had to google to find out what a flat white is(turns out it’s a cross between a latte and a cappuccino) and that sounded intriguing, so we got 2. We did have to wait quite a while as there was a group of 4 in front of us and just one person working. Definitely not a place to go in a hurry. The bartender, I mean barista, was very friendly and did apologize for the delay. My flat white was very tasty so bonus points for that. Sadly, I have to deduct points because it’s really hard to park nearby and it really does still look, feel and smell like a bar — even if there was a small child crawling under my bar stool.

Why didn’t I think of this!!! ;)) great concept. I really loved this place. Enough indoor and outdoor seating, great vibe and excellent beverages! The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is bc I was forced to valet park…

Conflicted here! So, first off, rude and strangely pretentious bartender. What? In all my years of seeking out places I don’t remember that ever happening. So yeah sets the vibe negative right away. That said, I am reviewing in the food/drink(in this case drink!) so I will try and not let that bias me! So… Drinks are good! But snobs beware… They use some bottom shelf stuff for drinks. Yeah kinda weird. Combining espresso with drinks though? Delicious! Just wish their choice of bottle was better. And they are inexpensive(hence the bottom shelf liquor). Inexpensive and good? Cool! All that said… Would I go back? No. The pretentiousness and ‘I don’t care attitude’ coupled with the crappy base of liquor choices is not for me. A step up from your typical bar on these points though! So for most this place is probably great so don’t rule it out!

I’d been wanting to try Double Trouble for so long! And in some ways it’s great: great drink menu(I tried a coffee cocktail, which was strong and delicious), great beers on draft, and great décor. Cons: pricey cocktails(even for Houston), way too crowded — it’s a pretty small bar and it fills up fast! Still — well forth a visit! Especially if you’re bar hopping on this part of Main where there so many great bars!

I love this place! The décor is warm, inviting & has a mix of furnishing styles melded into a small space. The outdoor patio is comfortable & cozy. The staff was amazing, remembered your name after the 2nd drink & were wearing Hawaiian shirts(gotta love hipsters). We did go on a Wednesday night so it was quiet. It must be a nightmare on a busy night with limited seating & the noise factor would be at a high. The music was eclectic & old school. They offer a variety of beers, cocktails & coffees. I tried a few of the cocktails that they offer & there was only 1 that I didn’t enjoy & It was entirely my fault. I didn’t realize it had beer in it o_O The prices are very reasonable which was satisfying & makes me happy! Due to the humidity outdoors, I needed a frozen cocktail to cool me down, the Suffering Bastard was what I chose. It had spicy ginger beer in the mix & that gave it a good kick. I was pleasantly suprised. I had a sip of the Dirty South & was astounded by the smoothness of it. Next one was the Man Up, the one with beer but I handed it over to a friend who was happy with it. I followed up & concluded with a drink of the Semaphore, this drink is not for the faint hearted, it’s mouthwatering but has a spiciness to it that hit my nose with a punch! It was memorable & I would absolutely have it again. I would be more than happy to go back to have the Semaphore again & try the other cocktails I wasn’t able to try.

Decent place, I think the 4 stars is spot on. The only complaint I really have is that the cocktails could be a little stronger for the price =]. And that if you sit on the patio, you might have people come up to you asking for money. That aside… I like the vibe and laidback atmosphere here, as I no longer can handle the crowds and craziness of mainstream Midtown bars. This place is quieter, though it can get packed as well. I haven’t tried the coffee as I’m not a coffee fan, so take this review just as a place to get drinks.

Love this place when I’m working from«home.» It’s usually pretty still during the day but draws an eclectic crowd in the evenings. Super chill vibe with friendly bartenders/baristas. They don’t have any munchies but Tacos a Go Go is literally two doors down. They have cold brew, irish coffees, full bar and seasonal beers on tap. TIP: Don’t forget to pay your parking meter. The parking ticket nazis are in full force on this block.

One of my favorite coffee and liquor spots in all of Houston. It’s located in the«Mid-main» area of Midtown. I started coming here when it first opened, since it was one of the first Tiki-themed bars in Houston… that I can remember at least. I’ve never had coffee here, but their cocktails are pretty damn good. Everyone is friendly and it’s not pretentious in the least bit. I usually sit at the bar when I want quick service, or outside if a table is open and the weather is nice. Restrooms are in the back hallway and are shared with a few other businesses in this building.

Great place to have a drink and catch up with a friend. Low key bar/coffee shop that’s dog friendly. Cute décor with random knick knacks here and there and friendly bartenders. Good beer selection with happy hour on Saturday: $ 1 off tap beers and $ 2.50 wells. To top it off they have desserts from Fluff bar here. Yay!

Where do I start? It’s a coffee shop and a bar rolled into one! How can that description alone not cause you to check it out, if only for curiosity purposes? I didn’t think I could be convinced that this place worked, because I’m fairly picky about my coffee, but I have so far liked their coffees and alcohol infused coffee drinks. The bartenders are decent enough. I’ve had some that are exceptional and others are are just, meh, doing their job and nothing more. However, the bartenders alone are not the reason why I come back. I like the drinks and the cozy atmosphere. It’s a very laid back place, where no one is really there to show off and be part of the scene. People are legitimately there to enjoy themselves and nothing more. I like that I can go there for a mocha and be left alone or for a happy hour wine and then later on have my boyfriend meet up with me, along with friends, if I so desire. What do I not like about this place? The disgusting bathroom. I went there once and it was so foul and so gross, I have just refused to enter the bathroom. I rather buy a taco next door at tacos-a-go-go, use their bathroom then risk having to use the bathroom there again. The bathroom really is the only drawback to that place, and let’s face it, nasty restrooms alter your experience at a place. Maybe more female janitors are needed? I don’t know. If you do decide to stop by remember parking is a pain as its in downtown and some of the area surrounding Double Trouble can be sketchy. If you want to try a drink go for a Oaxca.(The spelling could be wrong.) The nonalcoholic drinks are pretty awesome, but if you want a certain coffee, their mochas are decent. You should try it. So go, enjoy the space, but just try to avoid peeing there. Hopefully, the bathroom will be a non-issue by the time I go there again. I’m willing to risk entering that scary place as I do like Double Trouble a lot. If it wasn’t for the bathroom, it would easily be a five star establishment.

Double Trouble had solid coffee but most of all a great ambience. I came in around 1pm to come study. I plopped myself down on one of the stools facing the window. There was pleanty of natural lighting coming in. Multiple electricle outlets were available to charge my electronics and free wifi to connect. There were many drinks and beers available. The happy hour was reduced pricing on beers. I could see how my daytime study spot could transition over to a great nighttime hang out spot. With many other area spots close by, Double Trouble is a perfect spot to add to your bar hopping adventure!

I would give this place 10 s if I could! I had great conversation with the staff! Great atomosphere! I love the upper and downer concept! Such an unique gem in midtown. I fell in love with Matthew! You my friend are an amazing person and I adore you! Great cocktails, teas and coffees. I tried praline milk for the first time. Super yum! I would kick almond milk out for bed for it. Ha This is a spot I would frequent if we lived closer. League City is just too far from where we should of always been! Enjoy boys and girls
