Purchased new tires and had them put on. These knuckleheads threw out my old ones, great condition super slicks just not appropriate for Houston roads. Didn’t notice at the time because I also purchased a bike that day as well as several accessories.

Boone Cycles offers excellent and a wide variety of bicycles as well as repair service by folks who know bicycles. The people at the shop are courteous feel free to drop by and check them out.

Not your typical looking bike shop from the street, but that’s what I like. This is a true «bike shop». I bought my Specialized Roubaix from here about 5 years ago and have been back in several times for other items — clothing, accessories, etc. Always very helpful and patient. Very fair prices on items and you won’t regret making the trip here.

My bicycle was damaged because someone had rear-​ended me. So I had to take my bicycle in for a repair estimate for insurance purposes. Unfortunately, the bicycle was damaged beyond repair but the master mechanic was kind enough to write a careful assessment of the bike damages to the insurance company. Really excellent service and I will definitely be purchasing my next bicycle from here.

Wow, where to start? Not going to spend time on the fact that they have some of the best bikes in the world in their shop, or that they physically carry (not, we can order it…) some of the best made bikes clothes you can buy.
No, I’m going to talk about their service. Something that can really be hit or miss in most shops. Originally called them up asking if they could replace a broken spoke on a Fulcrum Racing One wheel. Kind of a rare, semi-​expensive wheel and 3 other shops gave me the standard response — «Fulcrum only sells those spokes in complete sets, $ 300−350». This also includes the original shop that sold me the wheels. So when Donny @ Boone’s asked me to bring the wheel in to see if they had a single spoke, I jumped at the chance.
Turned out the spoke didn’t work, but he didn’t give up. Donny then spent the next two weeks emailing & calling Fulcrum until they finally just sent him a matching spoke. Now besides the busted Fulcrum, I had other issues. My cheap backup wheel was damaged, about to implode, the cassette (put on by another bike shop) was missing a spacer, my rear brake cable was rusted out, and the rear dérailleur was malfunctioning due to internal gunk.
Dropped the bike off along with a tip all cycle shops love (beer), and they knocked all that out in a few hours. Mind you, they were only supposed to fix the Fulcrum and the dérailleur, but they fixed it all, did it lightening fast, and charged me so little I was embarrassed. Any other shop would have lit me up for at least $ 150, even with a free spoke.
Beginner, intermediate, or race level rider… you are cheating yourself if you go anywhere else. These guys really go the extra mile. From now on, nobody else will touch my bikes again.

If you want to use a bike shop that does work to your bike without authorizing it first, replaces parts without asking you, and over-​charging for pretty much everything they sell… this is the perfect bike shop for you!
Took my bike in for a simple tune up. The bike is a carbon road bike less than 5 yrs old and has been well taken care of. I was quoted a specific price for a tune up. When I went back to pick up the bike, the price was more than double what I was quoted. They claimed that they had to replace all of the cables, housings, pads, replace a tube (tire was not flat when I took it in), etc – though they did not call to get my authorization to do all of these things in advance.
And when I questioned their practices – of doing work to customers’ bikes without authorization – I got attitude. Like, how dare I question the bike gods of Booone’s. And, honestly, even calling this place a bike shop is a bit of a stretch. It’s in a run down, ramshackle of a house that will be torn down within a few years and replaced with townhouses. There are plenty of better options in town. I only used them because they happened to be the closest shop to me geographically. Next time I’ll use the Speed Shop in the Heights… or Blue Line.

These guys are great! Great service and maintenance. I will definitely do business with them again soon. I had a great conversation with the employees about options for me bike wise. They seemed more interested in making sure I get the right bike for me, not just the most expensive.

What a gem. I just moved to the museum district a few months ago and didn’t know about this place. I needed a flat repaired and they fixed it quickly and affordably. Even helped me get it in and out of my SUV. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend. Love supporting local mom and pop establishments who deliver excellent customer service.

For those short on time: They do fast quality repairs and have high end cycles (used and new), parts and accessories at competitive prices.
For those who enjoy a good story: I recently got back into cycling so I bought a cheapy big box store entry level hybrid MTB (front and rear suspension, aluminum frame, disc brakes, etc.). One week after getting it I was «nudged» by a car on Almeda. The adrenaline kicked in as I skid into a curb bending my front wheel. A long time ago, I learned to fall slowly. You know. I used the adrenaline to give me time to direct the fall. It doesn’t always work, but this time I was okay. Not even a scratch or a bruise since I directed the fall over the curb and onto a lawn. It just bruised my ego a little bit. The guy who hit me … he never stopped.
But what to do about the bent wheel? I wobbled home on the bent rim and went off to Unilocal and Google to find a solution. It appears that truing a wheel is not a complex thing if you have the right tools, experience, and know how. All of which I lacked. I watched a video or 2 and decided to bring it to a pro.
So back to the Internet to find someone to help me. Viola … Daniel Boone Cycles is down the block from Hermann Park. Awesome. I ran over and in a few minutes my front wheel was singing «Truer than True» and I was «Gladder than Glad» to be back on the road. LOL … Sorry about the Brenda Lee song. It was triggered by a stray synapse misfiring. In any case, I was happy with the speed and quality of the repair. Good job guys.
I’ll be returning to Daniel Boone Cycles when I graduate to a new bicycle in the future. They have some really nice high end parts and accessories and a good selection of new and used bikes.

I came here the other day because my wife bought me a new bike for my birthday and I’d been meaning to get some accessories for it (bike lock, tire pump etc…)
Its actually less than a mile from where I live so it was very convenient.
It doesn’t look like a bike shop from the outside so unless you know its there, you might pass it daily and never know. I walked in from the back, lots of bikes back there lol I guess i shouldn’t be surprised. Walked in to the actual store, started kind of peaking around here and there until somebody noticed me and offered me help right away, answered a lot of my questions. I wanted some direction on how to adjust the brakes as well but I guess bike shops make their money on that kind of thing and just told me to bring it in and he’d do it for me and that it would be $ 12. I don’t know if thats high or low but it sounded good to me so I’ll eventually be going back there for a tune-​up or other.
I did manage to walk out with a bike lock which actually I’m glad they showed me which one to get because apparently one of the cheaper kinds with the metal encased rubbery plastic can be cut through with bolt cutters. I also purchased a tire pump, but I have yet to use all these things… I’ll let you know if they don’t work lol

Brought 2 bicycles in for a project build, not sure which direction I wanted to go. Donnie listened to me and help me select the componets for the build and keep me within my budget. Everything was turned over to Trey the mechanic/​builder. WOW what great job excellent work. No way it would have turned out like this with out thier help and knowledge

My friend brought me here one day while riding bikes. My new Trek had some bad shocks. They were nice enough to try to help me. Found a used fork online brought it back & they installed it and even fixed a few other things on my bike. Cool guys in the shop & not «off pudding» in the least bit. I recommend this place over other shops cause they aren’t trying to over sell products. They understood I’m not a professional rider. Good spot.

Now I know why this place has such great reviews.
I came here based on Unilocal ratings, and I definitely was not disappointed. The people who work here are so honest, nice, and helpful. I came in with my new used bike I just got off of Craiglist, and expected to spend $ 50 – 60 in repairs. They pumped air in my wheels and placed my chain back in correctly and didn’t charge me anything. They were awesome and well experienced.
The bike shop itself is in a residential neighbor, so it’s easily passed up if you don’t know what you’re looking for. The shop has a great and varied selection of bikes and all sorts of biking equipment.
Loved this place. Will definitely be returning!

I busted some spokes on my vintage Bianchi on ride through the teeth-​y HTX streets. Brought it in last week and they initially told me it would be it would be a week+½ to get it back in condition. After speaking with them and letting them know I use my bike for my daily commute, they offered to repair it the next day.
The repair was quite decent. They did a good job truing the wheels, changing the back tire and they tightened the chain to boot. I had forgotten how nice my ride is when it’s finely tuned.
Conveniently located for me. Would definitely return for service.
Seems like they have a nice selection of road bikes and the atmosphere is cozy, local.

Stopped by Frankenbike yesterday at Boone Cycles. It was a very cool shop but I never would have guessed it, being in a residential area. They have a wide variety of bikes, gear and accessories. Staff was very friendly, especially Hermie!

Started riding recently this year and just like anyone else who rides maintenance is a huge part of cycling. So I had to find a local shop to do tune ups and service, been to several shops around Houston. At some places I feel like I’m prey and pounced on when I walk in the door and other shops I kinda get ignored for awhile until I have to ask for assistance.
Brought my roadbike in for a tune up, before coming here I read up on reviews on every bike shop closest to me Daniel Boones Cycles had some great reviews and upon coming here they are my goto shop for now on, even though it’s a 35 min commute back and forth it’s still worth it!
Friendly staff and the house/​shop feels welcoming at best!

I recently inherited an old Austrian bike (which I had no idea how special it was). I took it to them to tune it up and the excitement they showed to see my bike was beyond words. So cute! It really shows their passion for what they do.
They explained all that I needed and worked with me with what money I had. If I told them I could not afford a fancy schmancy fix, they never pushed for it which I really appreciated.
I must warn you about two things though: 1) the place is very hard to find. Yes it’s on the map, but you will be in a completely residential area. When you see a yellow house behind a huge tree you have found the place. There’s also a small green bike frame at the top of the entrance but it’s easy to miss from the street.
2) I had minor work done that should have been done pretty quickly. If you are expecting the bike to be done in a certain time frame, make sure you get it in writing and make sure you keep calling to see if it’s done. They forgot to call me when it was done, but no biggie.
Regardless of these two facts, I will surely return to them when I’m in need of bike help.

I found a 79 Bianchi 12 speed that needed a little love. I took it to Greg and the guys a Boone. We went over the bike and they suggested just a few thinks be done to get it up and on the road. They took special care in keeping it as original as possible. I felt she was in great hands. Greg went above and beyond while cleaning and fixing her up. I will definitely be back.

It took a couple passes of the street to even find the place, but I’m sure glad that I did. Friendly, knowledgeable staff that exudes a passion for biking, and truly passes it along to its customers.
A true mom & pop shop, and is great for both repairs & bike sales.
I took an old, tattered up, «Frankenstein» bike I got from a friend — a true «fixer upper,» and the nice folks at Boone Cycles relished the challenge of putting ‘er back together and making my old, rickety road bike a dependable ride again. Thanks, Boone!

This local bike shop ROCKS! (5 stars cuz this is as good as it gets, unless another bike shop proves me wrong).
With that said, I’m a man of 1^st impressions and this place definitely «rides» the distance in providing FIRST CLASS customer satisfaction and service.
Background: I have a commuter bike needed for rides to and from school. The tires were shot to hell so I needed replacements.
An employee or owner, John, directed me to their selection of road bike tires, identifying pros/​cons to each brand or make. There was no pressure from John to buy the more expensive tires or anything else I asked about for that matter. He just helped me make an informed decision in my selection, and that’s all I really ask for in any shopping experience. Again, GREAT SERVICE.
John also showed me how to change the tires and check the tubes — he didn’t have to, but I asked and he took the time to. GREAT SERVICE again.
John was also knowledgeable about lights and other bike issues I asked about, and showed me each product in every price range. Can’t seem to say it enough… GREAT SERVICE.
I could go on and on about how great John and this shop was, but I got an itch to try out my new wheels.
$: last thing if you’re interested, pricing was very reasonable. I had done my due diligence in researching tire and bike light prices and this place will NOT rip you off.
In the end, COME HERE FOR ANYTHING BIKES. screw Amazon, big box dealers and online sources for once and come meet some great people at this great local shop with great pricing. My test is always «Would i tell my favorite grandma to come here (if she knew how to ride a bike)» and I answer with a «hell ya».
