History

Established in 1941.

Nick Mickelis immigrated from Patmos, Greece in 1948, worked as a dish washer, pot washer and cook in his brothers restaurant. Nick met his future wife Pat, who taught Nick English and encouraged him to buy the Cleburne Cafeteria from two little ladies, that had established it 10 years earlier. Nick bought the Cleburne in 1951 and he and Pat worked side by side learning the ropes of the business and establishing the Cleburne, as a first class quality cafeteria. Cleburne Cafeteria is still run today using the freshest ingredients possible. Pat at 90 years old, still comes in everyday to oversee that all the original recipes are prepared the same way her and her late husband Nick would prepare them.
