Catholics without a Church

We had our first meeting with this officiant recently to review our upcoming ceremony. The meeting was short (less than 10 minutes) and he was extremely crass and cynical about weddings. In his website he talks about your wedding ceremony, suggesting to «treat it with reverence and find an officiant who does too» — this could not be farther from the experience my fiancé and I had.
«Don’t be stingy on the donation policy» — donation to who? He doesn’t run a church.
«We all know why bridesmaids are chosen — you don’t want a fat one or one who’s prettier than the bride» — we were blown away when he said this.
«Make sure you get a rich uncle to read a scripture — he’ll write a bigger check», «Weddings are ¼ fundraising» — Nope. We’re getting married because we love each other and believe in the institution of marriage, not to get money from our relatives.
I could go on, but now I have to research and find an different officiant. Don’t waste your time with this sleezy individual.
