History

Established in 2007.

The Camp Run-A-Mutt concept was born in mid 2007. Dennis, Mikel and Severn, who came from very different backgrounds, put their heads together and came up with the obvious: build a place they would bring their own dogs to. A clean, safe place that looked like a dog park with grass and toys, things to climb on, things to crawl in, water — not just to drink but to jump into and splash, humans to play with, and other dogs. No cages and no time left alone. Also, «Muttcam» technology which allowed people, no matter where they were, to watch their dogs having fun all day. Finally, a beautiful, user friendly website that allowed customers to register their dogs, fill out boarding checklists and connect to a social network of other dog lovers. When they opened on February 29th, 2008 they were proud of what they’d created and determined to change the world of dog care.

Meet the Business Owner

Jonathan L.

Business Owner

Jon, a native Houstonian, spent nine years in public accounting. His demanding job required long hours away from his best bud, Mozzi, a 3 year-old miniature labradoodle. Jon couldn’t bear leaving Mozzi home by himself and wanted the best for his best bud so he enrolled Mozzi in daycare for some fun, exercise and socialization. Each time Jon dropped Mozzi off, he wished he could go to daycare with Mozzi! And so began the journey to make his dream come true. Jon pitched the idea to Phu, his brother-in-law. Phu, an architect, lived in Dallas with his family which includes two furry members, Juno, a terrier mix, and Dexter, a miniature labradoodle and Mozzi’s brother. For his love of dogs and to bring Dexter and Mozzi back together again, Phu jumped on board and moved down to Houston. It’s a family business, if you can tell!
