Thank all of you for the driveway and walkway. They are a great addition to our new home. The crew did a fantastic job and went the extra mile to finish every little detail. Ericka was very nice and patient with us during our color choosing and choosing the stamped pattern. Would strongly recommend Aztec, and also the price range is very reasonable.

Aztec did a great job installing my patterned concrete patio and stone edge. Their price was reasonable and the service crew was excellent. The sales rep did a great job helping me choose the color and style, and I am very hard to please. My strongest recommendation.

We hired Aztec Concrete to install stamped concrete in our courtyard area at a price of $ 8,800. Here are the pros and cons so you can judge for yourself:
PROS
1. The finished product looks nice,
2. Aztec overcharged us by $ 300 but to their credit, they admitted this and refunded our money.
CONS
1. Severely Damaged our Landscaping– A few days after the concrete was poured, the wisteria plants in our courtyard area rapidly began withering and now large parts are dying (see photos of before and after). These plants were lush, green and maintenance-​free for the past 12 years and now, all of the sudden, they are dying (in their growing season, no less, with plenty of sun and rain) so one can only assume that this is connected in some way with the concrete materials and/​or installation. When I contacted Aztec’s saleslady about our brown dying plants and asked whether the concrete dust could have caused this sudden change, her response was «That is odd, usually landscape plants are not affected by the pigmented color. Take care.» As time goes on, there has been plenty of sun and rain since then but our plants continue to wither up and die. If it wasn’t the concrete dust, we can only conclude that when they prepped the courtyard area and cleared out existing weeds, they severed the roots of our wisteria plants with their shovels.
2. Dishonest and Possibly Without Insurance– Given the above, we asked for proof of their insurance which as you will see in the photo attached to this review, they publicly promised to do in #1 of their FAQ on their website. Despite asking for this 4 separate times now, they still refuse to provide it. Interestingly, they just updated their website and pulled their FAQ totally off. Good thing for screenshots!
3. Big Mess– By the end of the concrete pour day, the common area walkways and shrubbery surrounding the courtyard were splattered with concrete and dust. Rather than making an effort to clean up after themselves, I had to contact them and ask that they clean it. Their excuse was that our water faucet was in the middle of our courtyard which had wet concrete so they couldn’t get to it. Since they poured concrete around the faucet, you’d think they would have noticed this and asked us to get our neighbor’s permission to temporarily use her water to hose off the surrounding areas. Her house is 15 feet from ours and her hose would have easily reached this area. FYI– The Aztec saleslady even acknowledged her crew’s lack of professionalism in an email to us which said «Re: clean up — I was surprised to see that my crew members did not clean up on Saturday». Saturday was the pour day so any later assertion by her otherwise is disingenuous.
4. Concrete on areas where it shouldn’t have been– A number of pavers OUTSIDE our courtyard became covered in gray concrete which we had to ask them to come back and remove. The result was an obvious mottled pink/​gray look (see photo) so the workers couldn’t have missed seeing it (it is directly outside the courtyard gate where they had to walk to exit the area.) Aztec’s saleslady tried to argue that it wasn’t their fault and that they don’t handle paver repairs. However when we insisted that they come back to return the pavers to their original pink color, their workers admitted that they knew that they got concrete on our pavers but didn’t wash it off before it dried because they didn’t have access to our water faucet due to the wet concrete. Again, I have to wonder why didn’t they ask us to provide for access to our neighbor’s water hose rather than leaving our pink pavers covered in gray concrete?

After getting 7 bids on stamped concrete for my backyard patio, I settled on Aztec. They were the last company I received a bid from, and I instantly knew they were the one.
From the beginning, I had a gut feeling they were the company I would go with. I tend to judge companies on the quality of their website, and their website is phenomenal.
Incidentally, they also provided the lowest and most thorough bid.
I worked with Erika throughout the entire process. I have this theory about women in the construction business: they feel like they have more to prove and thus make up for their lack of testosterone tenfold. She was very knowledgeable, so easy to work with, and was super responsive to my calls and e-​mails. She kept me up to date with the progress of the project and reassured me when I thought the concrete color was too light.
Payment was due in 3 installments. Payment 1 was due on the form day, payment 2 was due on concrete pour day, and payment 3 was due on the last day of the project.
Basically, this is how the process went down:
1. I filled out an online form regarding my proposed project.
2. I was contacted via e-​mail and was provided a bid project unseen.
3. I was hesitant about receiving a bid project unseen, so I requested that a sales rep come to my house and provide a more accurate quote.
4. Erika comes to my house and meets my husband in the AM before he leaves for work.
5. Aztec sends us pictures of work they’ve done.
6. Per my request, Aztec sends a reference list.
7. Husband contacts one of the guys on the reference list and hears nothing but positive things.
8. We choose Aztec. Aztec sends over a contract with a proposed start date.
9. Start date is too close to Christmas, so we ask they start sooner. They agree, weather permitting.
10. Contract signed, we meet with Erika to choose colors and design.
11. Erika schedules the utility markings.
12. Erika believes she mismeasured the backyard and comes back out to remeasure.
13. Day 1 of project (Saturday ¹²⁄₁₄): excavate the backyard, set the form, tie in the new drainage to existing drainage
14. Day 2 of project (Monday ¹²⁄₁₆): concrete is poured, concrete is stamped
15. Day 3 of project (Thursday ¹²⁄₁₉): crew member comes to do «clean up»
16. Day 4 of project (Monday ¹²⁄₂₃): concrete is sealed
Erika and Aztec were an absolute pleasure to work with, and I could not be more satisfied with my backyard.
