First time here and will definitely be coming back. I came in w a girlfriend an hour before closing with some manly Viking looking feet & they were so accommodating and treated us kindly and did a great job on our pedi’s & shellac manis. We kept changing our minds on colors but they never acted bothered. Good prices too! Loyal customers, Malory & Monique

I have been going here for years and they do a tremendously good job with my nails. I don’t understand what the other ones are complaining about as they are so courteous, friendly, professional and they do a great job with nails. I highly recommend this place. 5 stars.

The woman who appears to be in charge has an unpleasant attitude. She speaks to her employees in a smug condescending manner. Their work is decent. The service leaves much to be desired. Overall, you can get a better experience for the same price at another salon in the area, like Tulip. Also, very limited polish selection

This place has been open for more than 10 yrs. And only 2 complaints. think about it… I love getting my nails done here and have been a patron for the last 6 yrs. The boss lady does awsome designs. I love hello kitty, and she can do a 3-D version of it on my French, super awsome!!! Everybody is super friendly too and this place has a warm atmosphere.

They haven’t gotten any better since that first review in 2009. I went here because my regular nail place was closed unexpectedly. I didn’t have to wait because there weren’t many customers, so a woman who appeared to be my manager did my fill-in. She also repaired a nail I had broken. I told her I usually got my nails done another place and this was my first time in the shop. As soon as she took the polish off my nails, she clucked her tongue and told me that I was going to need a new set next time. Uh, I had just had a new set put on two weeks before. When I told her this she laughed and said that they were done badly and were coming up and would fall off in a week and she wouldn’t be responsible. Um, no, they’re still on and holding tight, three weeks later. Since I had my card out already, I went ahead and paid for the work. Mistake. I’ve been to a lot of nail techs and I’ve seen how they handle the acrylic, and this woman(has she really been in business three years?) didn’t seem to know what she was doing, using a scary amount of material, and taking a long time to apply it. She was glancing over my shoulder at a TV that was on behind me the entire time, and, yes, yelling at me to «RELAX». When I asked her for the rounded/almond nail shape I prefer, she fought back and told me condescendingly that everybody got square nails now. When she was finally done with my nails and told me to go wash my hands, the nail shape was rounded, but ugly and blunt. I was hoping she would fix it with some additional filing when I sat back down, but she immediately grabbed the polish and started to paint. She squirted a bunch of thinner into the polish, which weakened it significantly and made it wear badly for the next two weeks. I asked for some quick dry so I could leave sooner, and she told me, «Oh, you don’t need that, you’re fine, you just need a little more time.» Well, anyway, I had decided not to go back anyway, but the same nail she replaced fell off(and none of the others did). I’ll skip this one next time even in an emergency.

I know what you’re thinking… You can’t believe I’m actually writing a review on a place called American Beauty Nails. Okay — Yes It’s one of those hole in the wall places that looks extremely sketchy, and when you pass by these funky little nail shops you tell yourself, I probably shouldn’t go there cause they’ll probably jack up my nails. But I was DESPERATE I tell you! I needed to have my nails done, and since I’m new to the area, it basically comes down to ANY nail shop in Houston is fair game. I originally went in around 2pm. I was a walk in and they didn’t have time for me, which I can understand since most tiny nail shops dont have the manpower for unexpected customers. The head honcho nail woman told me she’d make me an appointment and asked if I could come back in 2 hours at 4:00pm. I said sure, since I live close by. When I came back per my appointment time, I ended up waiting another 45 minutes! By this time I’m semi ticked off, but I waited so long, I just didn’t have the patience to go somewhere else and deal with the same thing. I was only there for a «fill» and when they could finally see me, the same head honcho woman called me over and started working on my nails. A couple of her customers left and not even 10 seconds after they had stepped out of the shop she started to talk shit about them. I’d expect her to talk shit in vietnamese to her co-workers, so I couldn’t understand, but I couldn’t believe when she was actually telling ME each customers life story and all of their drama. I mean WTH?! So it’s taking awhile and she’s still working on my nails. I’m getting worried because I keep looking down and her work is the sloppiest I’ve ever seen. I’m trying not to freak out and she keeps yelling at me to, «RELAX»!! I couldnt help it, but I was trying to see how badly she was butchering my nails. I dont know how many times she yelled at me to RELAX, but when she was finally done my nails, She buffed my nails told me to go wash my hands. When I finally looked down at the end result of her work, they were very sloppy, thick, dull, ugly and absolutely horrendous. No joke, they actually looked even worse than when I had gone in there! Did I just let a 6 year old play around and do my Nails? I could have grabbed some Press On Nails and had them look better than what she managed to do. I asked her if she could put a gel coating on them to make them a little more shiny, and she yelled at me, WHYYOUNEEDGEL? I BUFFEDYOURNAILS2TIMES! GELCOST $ 6 — WHYYOUNOTLIKE?! THEYNOTSHINYENOUGHFORYOU?! I said No they are not shiny enough. She said FINE! YOUWANTGEL? And by this time, after the long wait, the horrible service, being yelled at and having my nails look like crap — there was no way in hell I was paying $ 6 for a gel coating on my hiddeous nail job. I was ready to pay and get the F*ck outta there! An older woman rung me up and my fill came to $ 40, I mean are you effin kidding me??? That’s normally the cost of a Brand New Set! Ugh! Fine — NOTIPFORYOU! If you pass by this place and you’re thinking I really need my nails done… Dont come here! just keep on driving till you find another nail shop. Anywhere has to be better than American Beauty Nails.
