Came here on the wrong day apparently… It was a frat night, so there was only young college kids. Nothing like the photos for the venue. Disappointed by the disconnect and lack of variety of alcohol choice that night. Hopefully next time I give it a chance, it’s a «normal» night.

I have one word to say about this place… WEIRD. There is a restaurant to your right and a calm bar to your left, and some weird crowd upstairs. Our bartender was the only positive thing about this place because he was very attentive and made our drinks very well. The other bad thing is that they charge you automatically 20% gratuity. Also, there is rarely any parking, you might want to park in the garage on kirby and walk.

This place was a lot of fun. We went there for a friends birthday and had such a good time. They have different rooms and I felt like I was in a maze and would get excited when I found a new room with the jams playing. I danced so much that night. I love the decorations and the atmosphere. You get a nice crowd. More older 20s and 30s crowd. Music was blazing in one room or you could find a quieter area to do some actual socializing. I went back and forth! Bar service was friendly and quick. If you go, you should definitely try the Sophia. All 6 girls I was with had the Sophia in hand. It was a hit with us! Love how it’s on a small side street so not off of a main party street like Washington. I also loved the outside patio. They had people standing out there talking and just enjoying the coldness outside. Heat lamps were out there too.

Walked in… No prob. Lights were too bright, but each bar is different. Then as they try to dim them the lights start to tremble and blink. Umm… So for like 30 min. we had to sit & watch the lights go from full blast to a dimming tremble. Not cool. Meanwhile I discover my drink was served in a cracked glass. For $ 17 I think I deserve a non-cracked glass for my scotch. Finally, the DJ started playing 30 min late, but now they can’t figure out how to turn off the overhead speakers with conflicting music. Bye. Horrible experience.

We were in the bar section having a great time. The first bartender was great! Wonderful attitude, spoke about the décor… We ordered Scarlett and what she made was great. 2nd bartender we had(black guy with Mohawk) said his would be different because the 1st ones we had were wrong. We were like that’s ok. We would have enjoyed his drink, but he was lil too arrogant! When we asked what was in his, he only mentioned marachino and when we stated it had some kinda kick or something special in it, he said I know, but said it with this tone as to say, duh b! tch, I know… maybe we’re too senstive, but we expect a certain manner when spending money. The night was great outside of that…

This place is awful! Terrible service! I went in Saturday, walked straight to bar and was excited about the drinks. I ordered a drink and it was Awful! so I asked the bartender for a different drink. His response«I can only do this twice for you» is it my fault you can’t make a drink that’s tasteful? And do they seriously have a rule on the remake drink policy? Wow! Stunned! Also, a few days later, I checked my account, and they charged me twice! Save yourself time from this place! Really, go somewhere else that values customers and customer service.

I am never comming again. My girlfriend was pushed twice by the general manager because she was sitting in the wrong place. He was very rude to all of us(3 girls and 2 guys).

Really Really like this place. It’s one of the few places I feel comfortable as a mid 30th person coming dressed up in Houston. The crowd is more upscale, good looking, and don’t act bananas like people on Washington Ave. I’ve been here a couple of times, the last time was for by birthday on a Friday night, in which we had a group of about 20. We came early, so no cover, and valet. I will agree with some of the other reviews, as it is a bit confusing. I was looking forward to going upstairs to the next door place and dancing(as I had done before) but it was closed, which was a bummer. The 1919 place is very chic, very well decorated, and sultry. Its a great place to sit outside for a drink, or inside with a date. There is also a back room that only serves special craft cocktails, which are very well made. All of the bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly and quick. Prices are decent, not crazy, and music is good. I’ll be back.

The ambiance is good but the bartenders suck! They have a snotty attitude and when you ask them to add more liquor they seem surprised when they know they didnt add the right amount of alcohol for a $ 13 drink. The drinks are most likely the most expense in Houston and they are not even worth it. I though i was back in NY, except that in NY they are actually good and worth it. Dont get me wrong, i dont have a problem paying the $ 13+ per drink but the least they can do is service you like they appreciate my business. I would rather go to a place that honors my presense and money!

Huge disappointment… we’ve been wanting to go to Mixology since we moved to Houston… and we show up to move and groove on a Saturday night, we arrive to Persian music upstairs and 80’s disco music downstairs… yawn!!!

1 stars for the tasty drink I received. On to the good stuff … not sure if this is an ongoing thing(to try to save this place) or if it was just for the event I went to but they had a sign up at the bar that said 22% gratuity is *automatically* added to all tabs … That’s MIGHTY thoughtful of them to think that they are that good. The chick at the bar wasn’t friendly and pretty much just an order taker and delivery person. I ended up signing an even number — less than the 22% just to see what they would do… guess what they did? LOL! MIGHTYMIGHTY thirsty for that money honey. The atmosphere is cool but that sign left a bad taste. Feels like it’s getting down to the wire for them …

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this adult labyrinth of various bar rooms. I can, however, completely understand the mixed reviews based on it being a little confusing. Here’s my take, but I’ll be back next time I’m in the mood for well made cocktails with an interesting atmosphere and don’t want to wait in a line(I’m looking at you, Anvil) and want to be able to hear my friends talk(I’m looking at you, almost every bar in Houston): The GOOD: — hidden gem aspect(don’t pretend that isn’t half the fun…) — well made cocktails! I loved the super spicy and tangy kick of El Diablito — lots of interesting spaces and décor to wander and find your place to chill with your drinks and friends for that night. Feeling trendy? Hang in the main room where you first enter. Want to escape loud music and crowds? Sit in the garden. Looking for a relaxed pub atmosphere? Swing a left from the main room and order from the less crowded bar. The STRANGE: — Confusing. As in I never found an answer to the following: is the adjoining restaurant connected? Can I order your food from any room? Can I have the same cocktails made at the less crowded pub bar or is it a different menu? Is that reserved for a party sign applying to the whole back room or just that table? When does the upstairs open… you get the picture. The BAD: — limited street parking; you may be relegated to valet.

Go see chef Jan’el Witt she will take care of you on the food side. Her Asian pesto shrimp are fantastic as well as her Moroccan meatballs. Street parking or valet.

I really like this place. The décor is nice and drinks are great. We got this strawberry purée champagne mint drink called The Sophia that was absolutely delicious. Music was good downstairs and upstairs. Staff was friendly too!

I cant say anything negative about 1919… Not a single thing! Which in my opinon, is a huge compliment in itself for a bar/lounge. I really like the feel here. They have done a good job of making it classy without being pretentious. all with really great bartenders(hey omar!) and great cocktails. The waitresses have always been really good too. The music is a nice mix of light house– type stuff, definitely NOT club bangers, and also at a good volume so you can actually chat with the people you came with(or maybe someone you didn’t?!) This is attached to Corner Table restaurant, which I also love. When I have friends come in from out of town, I almost always pick this spot. There aren’t may places you can have a good dinner then walk immediately next door and have a loungey late night atmosphere. They stay open till 2, and I will say it gets more lively as the night goes on. I have seen many people do bottle service although its definitely not required. Very attractive girls, good looking guys, and everyone dressed nicely. I am a fan!

Came here on a Saturday night around midnight and we nearly got turned away because a gent in my crew didn’t have a collard shirt, despite being well put together otherwise. Thankfully, we managed to sweet talk him into letting us through. I could not care for the crowd this place seems to attract. If you enjoy schmoozing with 40 year olds dressed like they just turned 21, go ahead and give this place a go. Everyone seemed to think they were better than everyone around them and were the exact opposite of warm. The décor of the place, however, is beautiful. and really well put together. Drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders were nice and helpful. Thanks but no thanks, MIxology.

First time here attending the Houston Press Artopia preview party last night & it was a blast! I received a FB invite & decided to give it a shot, valet parking took a few minutes and in we went. The place is super hip & chill, really like what they’ve done with this place. One of the bartenders was a flame thrower! He definitely knows a lot of fire+alcohol tricks! DJ was AWESOME! He was mixing songs from 80’s to the top 10! Many people were dancing and it was a fun younger crowd too. There were two artist working on canvases and burlesque dancing as well. I’ll def be back !

I’m in love with this place! Great atmosphere, cocktails, and small bites. I’ve visited twice now and I have had a great experience thus far. When you walk in the ambiance is trendy and welcoming. We sat at a table both times and our server Corey is AMAZING!!! He came over right away and was so attentive to our group. The menu is mainly small bites and pizzas. We ordered the crab tower(picture attached) and it did not disappoint. The presentation was beautiful and it was pretty tasty! For cocktails there is mixology menu with fun librations. I ordered the Chelle minus the gin add vodka. Yummy!!! It is served in a champagne like glass with a lovely orange«spiral»(we’ll go with that). I’ve also ordered a vodka grapefruit cocktail which is served with fresh juice! I love places that offer fresh juices.
Overall this is a fun place for drinks and small bites! It seems to get pretty busy here at all times. People are usually waiting for dinner for sister restaurant Corner Table. Also note there is really no parking valet for $ 5.00 has seemed to be my only option. Enjoy!
