Awesome ammo prices and the big guy named Pink are the only redeemable qualities of this business. Prices on guns are crushed by Tanners of Jamison and Target World of chalfont. They boast having a gun smith onsite, if and when he is there he is typically inaccessible and rude at best. Took my first AR build there to have two nuts cranked down to spec and a gas system installed. Gas system is in, barrel nut is snug, and buffer tube castle nut never got touched but i did get the gun back with a broken stock. A stock i paid 120 for. «I never touched your lower.» All in all, 150.00 ill never see again because i expected professionals to be professional. Take your gunsmithing needs to Dells in lansdale and use Claytons for ammo purchases and when you want to shoot at a range with little to no supervision.

I tried there range out I was there for about 30 minutes with my son myfriend and his son using one bay. We each shot once and they asked me to leave because of a tax stamp for a supressor being digital. I offered to put the supressor in the car and continue shooting they said no you have to leave. I was still charged for an hour and I really only one clip between my son and i because it was a new weapon and I didn’t really know how to use yet. 40 bucks for nothing here and zero understanding or humanism just bulk get us in and get us out get our money. I will not come back here unfair experience.

First range visited since moving to PA. Conveniently located and basically everything you want. Well staffed with experienced people, wide selection to rent or buy, reasonably priced indoor range, and training if you so desire. While I would say these guys are all business, I expect/​want a level of seriousness in a gun shop and certainly did not have the same experience as Kerry S and felt I could get my questions answered. This will be my go-​to place from now on. Thanks for the great experience.

I am a new hand gun owner and purchased my first gun at Clayton’s. They were knowledgeable and very helpful. There prices are also very competitive I highly recommend them for you gun and ammo needs.

Experience and knowledge… the two biggest factors when in the market for purchasing a firearm, or any accessory for your firearm… I feel as if the sales of weapons is unlike any other retail department, the saying goes rule 1) the customer is always correct, and if the customer is wrong see rule 1… in the field of firearms this is not so, although many customers may be avid shooters and have an ego, there comes a time when every man (or women) must realize they may be wrong… that is where the employees at Clayton’s come in to play, and if they do not have an answer on the spot (which is unlikely) they will find the correct answer for you… now some people may not like the fact that they were proved wrong, but isn’t that the reason for asking someone a question is to get an answer??? Or a different opinion… anyway at times it can be difficult to find certain weapons or parts for your weapons again Clayton’s has yet to disappoint. Weather it is a hard to obtain lower, or a rare handgun Clayton’s knows what people want and they deliver. As far as their selection for parts required to build an Ar15 there is no shortage of top of the line parts from most of the top manufactures… There are times when this store is crowded simply wait your turn and someone will assist you with all of your questions. I have yet to have a bad experience here and there are several local gun shops located 15 minutes from my house but I still make the 40 minute drive to Clayton’s for the above stated reasons. I could order most of the stuff online and save a few dollars, however I’m an instant gratification kind of guy. That being said, they are reasonably priced on all firearms, accessories and ammunition (can’t speak for the fishing side of the store, haven’t purchased anything fishing related from here) Clayton’s also will work with your budget as I was able to put a Noveske lower on layaway due to the fact I could not afford it at the time, put a down payment on it and paid it off with in a week, but they gave me 30 days to do so. Clayton’s has a customer for life in me, as I continue to add to my collection.

Been going there for practice now for about a year. The staff is usually professional though sometimes a bit edgy. i purchased my sig p320 there and I kind of feel obligated to shoot there since they were so helpful when I made the purchase. If they scold you for something you must have truly messed up, for they are very safety conscious. Wanted to comment on my 1÷13÷16 visit because I feel it’s very important. I left the range and was waiting to pay and I noticed a suspicious person waiting in line ahead of me. When it was his turn he started asking crazy questions and finally asked to purchase some range time. At that moment the door to the range opened and you could hear gunshots clearly. This gentleman started flinching at each shot. The staff person, now visibly concerned, kept his cool and and professionalism. The guy finally left because he had no identification but wanted to buy or rent guns. if they were in it for the money, god knows what would have happened inside the range had they let him
was very obvious the guy is mentally unbalanced. I would not feel comfortable in a room with a person like that with a gun in his hands. Heads up to the staff! I’m sure you remember that! CS

Just finished level 1 basic conceal carry class with Ed. Wow. Just wow. Left feeling confident and safe about handling and what to do to practice and improve my skills to be a well prepared individual. Will be back for advanced class with Ed. Bought two firearms… great service. Friendly, low keyed, competent and really family like atmosphere.

This place is really a hidden gem in Montgomery Co. The staff here is super knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant to deal with. The prices are all fair and very competitive with other local gun shops. I really enjoy the range and they keep a close eye to ensure everyone’s saftey. They allow you to bring in your own ammo, but in case you don’t feel like it, their ammo prices are comparable to gun show pricing. I highly recommend Clayton’s.

I have been using Claytons for the past 2 years. I have purchased several guns there (new and used) and regularly use the range. The prices are fair but the best feature about the store is the knowledge of the folks working there. Granted they may not be the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, but as far as gun stores and gun ranges go, they are one of the best around. They are also one of the best known shops around, people I know from Delaware County drive up here to shoot. It’s extremely crowded on the weekends, so try to avoid that time (except for Sunday during football season).
They have a zero tolerance for mis-​use (and gun related stupidity) and I am very glad about that, considering the fact that the people in the next lane could do a lot of damage to me and everyone else in the range. The Range Masters keep a close eye on what is going on and if someone does something they shouldn’t do, someone will come in immediately. I’m thinking of writing a book about some of the folks I have seen shoot there, but no one would believe it’s non-​fiction. I saw two guys one shooting an AR15 but the only thing they hit was the ceiling! I have a feeling a lot of the negative reviews written here were done by some of these folks.
Their training is outstanding (5 star) and the instructor is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to make sure you are mastering the tasks at hand. After classroom work, they take you back to the range and show you how to handle the gun and to shoot (better than when you came in).

I appreciate Kerry S’s review and opinions but I have to say, my experience was completely different. I have been going to a range close to home for a couple of years. I’m not crazy about that range because of their attitude towards their customers. I’ve continued to go because of the convenience of their location. Last night that range was closed and I quickly looked up other ranges in the area and found Clayton’s in Horsham. I had friends in from out of town who really wanted to shoot, so we took the 20 minute drive over to Horsham. The first thing I noticed was that there were a lot of cars in the lot. When we walked in, I immediately sensed a positive vibe from the place. We made our way to the back corner to get on the range. A guy named Ed met us there and started the process of getting our info. Ed had a lot of positive energy as he spoke. He went over safety and rules and the standard stuff but did it in a respectful way. He talked to us and not down to us, which is not what I am used to at the other place. Just his attitude alone had me thinking that I wanted to come back and this was before we even got on the range. Our experience on the range was excellent, we had good time and we didn’t have any issues. When we were leaving, we were checked out by a different person, I think his name was Ed too. He had the some positive energy as the first Ed. He asked if we enjoyed ourselves and was happy to hear that we did. Seeing other customers being help, I got the impression that the other staff members were equally friendly and helpful. I will definitely take the extra 20 mile drive to come back to Clayton’s, this will be my new home range! If my experiences change, good or bad, I will come back and update the review.

The absolute biggest jerks/​dicks in the business. I’m not sure how you can quantify that but if there is a way they are number one. They embody the old school gun store mentality that everybody who has any sense about them is trying to stop. There used to be three places where you could depend on being treated like you know absolutely nothing and that you are bothering them by even walking in and daring to try to give them your business. These places were in no particular order motorcycle, gun and tattoo shops. Most of these places seem to have modernized but Claytons Gun shop is true to the game. They are as rude, nasty and arrogant as possible. They don’t even have the redeeming quality of being knowledgeable because I am 100% sure that I know more about the firearms they are trying to sell than the guy I worked with, and that really doesn’t say much. I’m not even going to go into what I was actually doing there, because it was a couple of visits where I gave them a try.
I will say one visit I tried to purchase a particular firearm that is somewhat hard to find (FN «FiveseveN», it’s really cool ;-) and they treated me like complete and total jerk so I decided to talk to the owner. He also spoke to me like I was a complete moron and was wasting his time. I literally just wanted to buy the firearm and be treated with respect. Just wanted some questions answered and that kind of thing. at this point I must say, I am very self aware and know I am not perfect, so when I got in the car I asked my fiancé if it was me at all. She as well as someone else, an other customer who heard the guys tone, agreed it was absolutely them.
I was having so much trouble finding this particular firearm and they had a brand-​new one in the box. They essentially had to break every rule in the book of customer service before I finally said to myself «what the hell am I doing here?» and finally left the messy place. I then rushed (because it was late) to an other shop in Philly who also had it. I bought the firearm there, I suppose that is irrelevant, though I did join the range and considering they are equidistant from my house I probably would have joined «Claytons» if they weren’t such morons. Hence they lost my constant stream of business and occasional large (and sometimes frivolous) purchases. Nobody «needs» an FN FiveseveN, it’s more of a gun you get for the coolness factor then practicality, point being they really took the piss out of what should have been a fun purchase (almost).
Interesting anecdote; the guy who waited on me claimed to own the same gun and that he sold it for «personal reasons», maybe he just needed the cash, nothing wrong with that. But you could tell how much he resented me buying it and that was very awkward. Before I knew this he pointed out a holster and said that it was his, usually that would mean he had the same one at home or something and he was endorsing the product. When I didn’t immediately get that it was literally his holster he was selling on consignment (they did NOT claim it was new or anything) he again spoke to me like I was a stupid. Nobody knew what he was talking about, it was just weird and very off putting. As I had said the owner was also a HUGE (literally)jerk, when I asked him if I could «write it up» (being totally friendly) he said I needed to hold on for a sec I said «no problem I see you guys are busy». 2 Min. later he looked over at me completely out of know where and said these guys are «BUYING SOMETHING» so just give me a few more Mins. An other customer who was noticed the rudeness and was experiencing it himself said I’m outta here, that’s when I decided to leave and call around to see if any place else had the item.

In this day and age any gun store should be as warm and welcoming as possible to people (and usually are). I personally get annoyed because this is my sport/​kind of a passion that already has enough bad press from the stupid media, and they are making it look worse.
CLAYTONS GUN SHOP: CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!, fire your staff and/​or get some lessons in customer service. You are an awful representation of this sport, I assume you are members of the NRA, they should throw you guys out…

im new to guns but i like this place. bought a gun last week and used the shooting range few weeks later. huge selection of guns, i dont know about the prices they have since i didnt shop around. good place and service so far.

Ive been going there for my fishing equipment for several years now. Absolute great place all around. Convenient location, and a great selection.

Great place to go and check out a wide selection of vintage and up to date weapons, parts, and knowledge. These guys have can get almost anything you want. Great staff and attitude.

Its a great place for locals to buy and shoot at.
The staff is friendly. I bought a shotgun there, and although I have plenty of experience shooting other weapons, this was my first hands on with a shotgun. The staff took the time to show me how to disassemble, load, hold, clear etc. I’ve gone into other stores where they look at you like you’re a hippie if you are anything less than an expert with guns. But these guys were cool and got me up to speed with it in minutes.
The prices are on par with most stores, and they will let you rent/​try weapons before buying.

Fair prices on guns and ammo but they are not friendly. Also, the range is not «state of the art»; the last time I went to the range the air handler must of been off or broke. I was coughing up lead for a week…

Only reason I have subjected myself to their establishment is because of the gunsmith who is excellent. The owner is a prick with an attitude, and seems to be proud of it. There’s another shorter, dark haired employee who is just as bad if not worse. If his life is that bad then there are alternatives to working in a job that interfaces with the public.
I guess they are doing something right since they have been open for a long time, but I haven’t seen it.

This review is more of a comparison to the ranges I’ve been to. French Creek and Targetmaster.
This place is better than french creek.
This place is not better than TargetMaster.
Clayton’s is cluttered. Don’t really know what you’re looking for until you walk over it. The range is ok. Not as nice as targetmasters. The range is not insulated but extremely well ventilated. I’ll give them that. Their website says that they do not price gouge, but at this point, a box of target 9 mm is not $ 17. Targetmasters has it for $ 14. Also the track for the targetholder was broken, and when the guy came in to fix it, he said that the cable broke because I shot it… I loaded my gun in the adjacent stall when I moved over and some how I managed to shoot the cable. Never mind that I’ve been shooting for a few years now with pretty decent groupings and that whole CCW and a few courses under my belt. Lets jump to conclusions.
Since writing this, I’ve dropped this from 3 to 1 star because that was unnecessary for that employee to make such a bold accusation.
Go to targetmasters instead. They at least have a rangemaster in the range.

Clean, safe and fairly priced for the range. It only has 8 lanes, but I like the setup.
But since it is small, make sure you wear good ear protection — it’s loud.
I didn’t have time to shop in the store, so next time I go back, I’ll give you an update on the pricing. It appeared there was a good selection of firearms. The guys behind the counter were to the point but relatively friendly.

I’ve purchased firearms in the past from big Outdoors retailers. Though the prices, I thought, justified the wait– in most cases Clayton’s is even on price and far superior on service. Even the store dog (Maggie is her name by the way) is friendly and welcoming.

The guys (and girl) behind the counter are knowledgable about guns, shooting, modifications, hunting and carrying. Riddle them with questions, it’s what they’re there for. Someone will have an answer for you.

I waited 4 hours the last time I was at a Big-​Outdoors-​Retailer in Hamburg for a rifle, but only a few minutes at Clayton’s for a handgun.
–Try Before you Buy
Buying here gives you the distinct advantage of renting what you want to buy and firing it at their range before putting your hard-​earned money down.

They also offer CCW classes and walk-​throughs for new shooters.
–Great Customer Service
On my most recent visit I purchased a Glock 26 and, though I know the grip extender was about $ 4 cheaper online, bought it from them. The cashier took a look at it and said, ‘I’ll just put this on for you because its a pain in the butt if you’ve never done it before’. In 2 minutes he switched it out and likely saved 15 minutes of my time and several curse words. Definitely worth the $ 4.
