A friend told us he had been here a few times so after reading reviews we came. The service was so so definitely nothing memorable. The restaurant is large and can feel somewhat empty. I got the Jessie special and it was great. My bf got the meatloaf and it sucked. It was dry and the green beans tasted weird. Overall I will not be rushing to return.

The food was outstanding and the service by Mandy was very good. We had 12 oz Delmonico cooked perfectly, prime rib which was very good and the brownie Sunday was enormous!

Went to Jesse’s on Wed night for my birthday with my family and had the worst experience I have ever had. I can not rate the food because the service was so bad we left before our food came out. When we got there it was not crowded at all maybe 6 other tables had people at them and there was a party of people in the sunroom. We waited for the hostess that was not present for some time when she came up she said we would have to wait for a table(there were only 5 of us) I said that’s okay she came back about 5 minutes later said they had a table but SHE needed to clean it first which was fine but we thought it was odd that this hostess in her pretty red dress was also cleaning the tables. We were seated across from the bar which was fine. We waited for our server who seemed rather frazzled when she did show up. She served us water and I requested lime in mine but she brought lemon instead not a big deal but I know she heard me because she repeated you want lime instead of lemon and I said yes. She leaves comes back and ask what we want to eat, she was rather brass but I just thought maybe it’s just me thinking that then after taking our food order my husband tells her we want some drinks from the bar, She asked what we wanted to drink so my husband and son in law ordered beers, one Miller Light and one Yuenling in a glass. My daughter ordered a martini, then the server starts to walk away. My husband said my wife has not ordered yet so she ask what I want and I tell her a Tom Collins. She walks away and is gone for a while. I am watching the bartenders(2 of them) make drinks and I realize the Miller Lite and the yuenling are on the bar but our drinks aren’t. We waited for over 10 minutes and the drinks are still not brought out to us and we don’t see our server anywhere. Finally she returns to our table and looks at me and ask how do you want your drink? I said I don’t understand your question I had already told her what kind of gin to use so I was confused she said well I need to know how you want it? Again I don’t understand what she needs so I say a Tom Collins with Hendrix she said what I mean is do you want it frozen or on the rocks, at this point I just looked at her(I am a nice person so I couldn’t say what I was thinking) so I just said on the rocks(that is the only way a TC is made that I know of, never heard of them frozen) but didn’t say anymore then I asked if the beers on the bar were ours that they had been there a good 10 to 15 minutes she said oh no I don’t think so. I said well It seems they are since it is exactly what we asked for and she tells me well I could not bring there beers without knowing how you want yours, I asked why not? she said because I needed to know what you wanted? I said I’m sorry but that makes no sense I don’t want their beers to get hot why couldn’t you bring them before she looks at me and in an annoyed fashion says Don’t you understand me? I couldn’t bring them. At this point my SIL who never says anything looks at her and said You can loose the bad attitude or send another server. At that point she walks away. I decided to go to the bar and I see the bartender holding the two beers and talking to another couple then I hear them say no we don’t want them. I go up to her and ask were those beers for our table, she never looks up at me just says yes. I tell her the server told us they were not and she said yes they were so I tell her the server lied to me and said they weren’t she looks at me and said well I had to throw them out because they had been on the bar for A minute! I said no it was 10 – 15 minutes and she just looks away. Her attitude was just as bad as the servers who had walked up and heard me tell her she lied which she tried to deny. At that point I had enough of these people we all got up and left but not before my daughter had a talk with the manager who offered to comp our meal I told him no you couldn’t pay me to eat here and deal with your rude staff. We left and went to Cajun Steamers. As long as that place is Jesse’s and it won’t be long I will not go back.

Used to be good. Not anymore. The management, cook, pricing changes need to be changed back to what they were. The prices are now higher and the food now taste horrible. Not to mention your restrooms look like a truck stop. You are loosing customers due to your changes. Good luck staying open.

The filet and the greek mahi were delicious! I got my steak medium and it was cooked perfectly! My husband is very picky about steaks and he was impressed! The greek seasoned mahi mahi was a thick piece of fish, perfectly cooked and sooooooo good! It wasn’t fishy at all. We went late so we were able to be seated immediately. If you are cold natured and it’s cold outside, request a seat away from the windows… I was so cold! Food came out quick, waitress kept drinks filled and overall good experience. We will go back!

Disappointed!!! Today I called and spoke with Lindsey to see if a room would be available to use on Sunday for a meeting of 5 people. The website states that it is open from 11 am until 9 pm. She told me that they didn’t have a private room that I could use because there was a reservation for a large party. I asked what time was that reservation for. She said 1pm. Okay. I would think that by 7pm, the time I needed, it would be free. I asked would it then be available I then. She replied that they closed at 8. She made absolutely no effort at all to see if I wanted to have an earlier time, speak with the manager… She made no effort to find out what I needed or if there was any other solution… Nothing. No effort! Maybe repeat service is not valued… I manage over 20 people and would have liked to have re– booked for my store meeting. I guess the price of not serving 5 equals not serving 25.

HORRIBLE! The saltiest food ever. After reading other reviews, I felt they might have been unfair so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered crad stuffed mushrooms and, as others reviews have noted, the mushrooms were TINY. But this didn’t bother us because who complains about too mucg crab stuffing… But the tiny infant mushrooms did look amusing. Then my wife ordered filet with broccoli. I ordered a NY strip with baked sweet potato. The server brought it out and asked us to cut them both down the center to make sure they were cook enough!!!(seriously, she asked us to do that) The broccoli was borderline raw and her filet was so salty she couldnt eat it. Both my sweet potato and NY strip were too salty fir consumption. It was a terrible meal. We sent everything back after the first bite and only paid for drinks and the mushrooms. This was honeslty the worst all around meal we have had in years. I didn’t go into the service because that can be a one-off experience, but trust me when i say, this place is HORRIBLE!!!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a place in Hoover. I met a friend here for lunch and have to say. They have one of the most versatile lunch menus I have seen in the area. Onto the details… When we arrived it wasn’t busy at all and it was around 12:45 pm. It took over 5 minutes for someone to realize we were standing there. It gets better from there though:) The waitress was very nice and knew the menu well. I am not a bread eater however, this bread was worth the splurge. I ordered the ground chuck steak and broccoli. My friend ordered the Greek style chicken. Oh my gosh! Both were amazing and I can’t wait to go back. I will be going here to try the dinner menu very soon

It’s important for me to say here: when I give restaurants reviews, I’m reviewing everything. Not just the food! I typically take atmosphere, service, and pricing heavily into my «score» along with some other things. Honestly, this one was more like a 2.5 stars and I rounded up. I had a good time here because of good friends and a martini, but I wouldn’t go back on my own. Monday is ladies night so of course it was busy. Half off drinks and food for ladies!(EXCEPT: wine bottles, appetizers, desserts, or basically anything that«ladies» would want…). NO where to park and a 20 minute wait for party of 2 – 3. My peach martini was good and sweet. Not strong on alcohol but I didn’t mind. I ordered the brownie/ice cream to share and a water. I had to ask for a refill 3 or more times before it came. The brownie was honestly, bad. It was piled high with crappy whipped cream and chocolate sauce(we’re talking like, 3 cups full of whipped topping alone). The ice cream was okay. The brownie was warmish, and… grainy. Just crummy and grainy. My friend ordered the jessie special, and while she was happy with it, I couldn’t SEE it. It was, again, a PILE of pastel shredded lettuce, and tomato pieces(there’s supposed to be a burger/steak covered in mushrooms, somewhere). Again, this is no exaggeration! I can just picture Gordon Ramsey muttering profanities as he digs through the plate to try to find his food. The good: half price drinks, clean; decent atmosphere. The bad: The food. The service. The presentation. The wait. The many restrictions on «ladies» night.

My husband and I were driving around on Friday and decided to stop here. It was about 7:30pm. We walked in and were told there was a 10 minute wait. About five minutes in there was a table available near the bar. The décor was rustic and it looked clean. I used the bathroom which was pretty clean as well. It was pretty crowded, but not packed. The noise level was very reasonable. Our server was great. Very friendly and attentive. We never went without refills and she checked on us often but wasn’t hovering. Both of us got the ground chuck steak which was HUGE. With that my husband got a baked potato, I got asparagus and we both got the vegetable beef soup and a loaf of bread. The soup and vegetables were very good. The chuck steak was great, but the au jus that was on the plate was exceptional. I could just drink it. The meat was cooked well and had a great flavor. The prices were actually pretty reasonable for all the food. I would definitely like to go back on ladies night as the entrees are half price. It’s definitely worth a shot!

Great Food, the wait staff is overwhelmed, they seem to work to many tables ! Which can lead to poor service! I would recommend hostess/management check on tables for refills/drinks! If management does not get this problem fixed this restaurant may not last long!

What is going on with Jesse’s? Please, tell me! My first couple of experiences have been great food and wonderful service. This past trip the food was pretty good, but that was about it. Our server was pretty new and pleasant, but our stable had some type of sticky residue on it, the window counters was dusty with dead flies, and the menu was pretty gross. I didn’t realize this until I after I ordered my meal. Hope they get it together and not let this place go down hill. I will likely try them out again, since its such a great location and near all the other places I frequent…

My food and waiter were a cut above the rest! My food was well cooked and tasted GREAT! Our waiter was very attentive and took great care of our entire party. Our drinks were perfect and very appealing! However, when it came time to pay for my services the credit card system went down! Our waiter did a very good job communicating with us as the issue was trying to be resolved! Unfortunately, the manager on duty(John) was extremely rude and even yelled and cursed at myself and other patrons as we tried to get some understanding behind having to wait for 1hr to pay for our meals. I was appalled at the manner in which the manager conducted himself and the way he responded in such and unprofessional way. His attitude made my experience the worse I’ve ever had at any restaurant.

Had the prime rib special for Sunday brunch, it was delicious. Minus one star for a mediocre salad which tasted like it was bagged. Minus another star as the restaurant seemed dirty. Walking to the restroom, the floor was greasy and our table was sticky.

I had the Prime Rib French Dip sandwich for lunch. The sandwich had a modest amount of meat served on French bread. The meat was good, but not spectacular. I would have preferred it cooked more rare and sliced thinner. That would have highlighted the prime rib much better. Also, they could have been more generous with the amount of meat. The French bread was just right. It was fresh and crunchy. The ah jus sauce was warm and flavorful. The steak fries were good, but could have been fried a little longer. My friend had the Friday lunch special. It was grilled meat loaf served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It looked good. Overall, the experience was okay. I like that Jesse’s is local, and not a chain restaurant. Compared with the nearby steak places, I would put Jesse’s slightly above Longhorn and Outback, and a step below Firebird’s and J. Alexander’s.

This is a place where I have enjoyed my experiences over the past couple of years. However on this occasion I have had my worst experience. I tried the Delmonica Steak and it came out overcooked. It was very well done and crispy. The waiter had them work on a new order and left my plate with me. While i waited I ate my broccoli. When my new steak came out it was only a steak and not a whole plate with steak and my side of broccoli. I was told that my side would not be replaced bec I ate it! I was in disbelief. Bec they felt it was okay that I saw there and watched my big party of friends eat while I waited on my order to be corrected with a small serving of broccoli in front of me. After discussion he brought me a serving of broccoli that would accompany my steak. He was rude and not hospitable. After enjoying the restaurant for some time I’m really hesitant on coming back ever again.

First reaction, I was pleased to see how busy they were on a Monday evening. Turns out that’s due at least in part to Monday being«ladies night» which gives ladies ½ off on entrees. The crowd was an interesting mix to say the least. We were seated promptly and the staff was friendly. Prices are quite reasonable. We ordered a couple of prime rib entrees which include a salad and a side item. My wife chose a sweet potato, I ordered fries. Bread was delivered to the table, a crusty French loaf with butter. Fine but not particularly tasty. Salads were soon delivered. We really enjoyed the fresh, crisp salads and I enjoyed the blue cheese dressing. Very nice salads. Steaks were delivered following the salads. They were cooked to order and served with a horseradish sauce that was maybe sour cream, a little mayo, and a very little bit of horseradish. Wasn’t really a fan of the sauce. The steaks were served with a bit of au jus but overall were a bit bland. Not a bad cut. A little salt and pepper from the table helped. The bar seemed to be hopping the night we stopped in. Would I go back? Well, I don’t know. If I was dining with someone who said«hey, let’s go to Jesse’s » I’d go along, but I don’t think I’d ever suggest it.
