I could not believe the portion of the yook gae jung soup. It was half full compared to other Yummys. This is my first time going to this one and will be last. Hardly any meat in it at all. I’ve eaten this a lot at other Yummys. Looked like leftovers. Geees!

I’m big on Korean BBQ beef and they had some good BBQ beef there. The ladies working were the sweetest and gyoza was great too. I have found a new eating spot while on my layovers in Honolulu!

Yummy B-B-Q in Koko Marina Plaza is a sentimental favorite that my family and I frequented over the years whenever we went to Hanauma Bay snorkeling. The Kalbi ribs lunch plate were as good as I remembered. It is quite a bit more expensive than I remembered. I think there are many other Korean restaurants where you can get a similar meal for less. The sitting area is quite Spartan but there is view of the Marina from one of the tables. I would recommend it for those in the area and want to take a stroll down«Memory Lane».

This place is fantastic. I have stayed nearby on previous visits, and just walked almost a mile to get here. I have tried many things on their menu and all are fabulous.

This place is behind another store front and it can be hard to find for the first time going there. The menu items are clearly posted and easy to follow. There’s only 2 chairs like at a bar top, so it’s more of a take out. The lady behind the counter is not friendly at all and doesn’t explain the menu as I watch other customers’ frustration. You get less food than what you pay for. And my chicken wasn’t all that good either.

We are staying at the Kuhio Banyan so this restaurant is very handy for us. We particularly like the Yummy special. My wife loves a soup and noodle dish which she has asked me to buy several times.

Awesome find! I was walking around for food and didn’t feel like getting in line for the famous udon or the busy Korean restaurant a block away. Found this place and it’s a treasure! Had soft tofu stew(soondubu jigae) which comes with rice and four generous side dishes. The seaweed side dish is AWESOME l! Best I’ve ever had, so is the radish kimchi and japchae. There’s not a lot of sitting spaces available though. I’m definitely coming back, if not only for the side dishes!

Not sure my chicken katsu was really chicken. The meat was hard and tuff and pink when I peeled back the katsu. Maybe cat, dog, or some other animal. Grossed me out. If so, I can say I ate dog from a Korean place once.

U have to look for this place, it’s in a center in front of a hotel and in between some shops?! They have a good variety of food and with the combos u get to choose 4 sides– score! I got the Bbq ribs with jap chae(noodles) macaroni salad, seacrest greens, and bean sprouts. The Mac salad was kind of bland but still ok. My BF got the BBQ chicken — I had a taste it was good, nothing too special, and we got an order of the Mandoo. The mandoos were great which is a plus, I’m a big mandoo/gyoza/dumpling person! Food tasted fresh and good. Sat outside they have 2 round tables and chairs– didn’t like that because of the flies :(the only other complaint is that they are cash only and charged $ 1 for soda refill.

Stopped by here so that I could try some good Hawaiian BBQ(with my only other experience being the joints that were in Cali). Ordered myself a mini BBQ Chicken, and it was a LOT of food. I’m selfish though, so I chose to eat it all by myself. :-) Overall it wasn’t bad, but the chicken was a little dry for my taste — I just think it was cooked a teensy bit too long. I do, however, like how open and friendly the shopkeeper was and the fact that she hooked me up on some of the sides. Definitely a plus with regards to customer service. And yeah — don’t expect too too much when it comes to sitting and eating there. They had about two round tables available along with 2 – 3 bar stools at the place.

Very generous quantities. Enjoyed the 2 «veggie» dishes choices included chapjae, broccoli, cucumber kimchee, cabbage kimchee, wakame salad, macaroni salad, soybean sprouts, spicy gourd, fish cake. Seating is a problem, many people took to go. Steady stream of customers between 7 and 7:45 on a Saturday. The Kalbi ribs were perfect and not overcooked, hooray. The Bulgogi(beef #2) had been marinating too long and too dark and salty but still OK. Most of the sit down restaurants charge $ 25 for a Kalbi dinner so this was a great deal at $ 11.50 for a mini(2 sides) and $ 15 for a regular(4 sides). The counter lady was a real Dragon though. Barking at the customers like a SNL skit! She was efficient, just irritable.

//Location\\ You kind of have to look for it. From Kuhio Ave. it’s in «Waikiki Marketplace,» the open plaza between Marukame Udon and 88 Tees. If you see Subway, turn into that direction and head around to the corridor behind it. There isn’t much seating inside(maybe 2 or 3 stools?), but there are covered tables right outside where you can eat if you want. The staff is okay, not overly friendly, but they do their job. //Food\\ You get a lot for what you pay. Three of us ordered, and we each had plenty of leftovers for the next day. A regular order is definitely enough to share between two people. We had the Kalbi and BBQ Chicken, generous portions of meat, well-seasoned, nice strong smoky flavor. All the sides are served cold, most are okay. The mac salad was way overcooked. The macaroni had gotten to the point where it could no longer hold it’s shape and were fat, limp, and flat. But if you like mushy mayo salad, maybe you’ll like it.

Not bad for to go food. I was expecting a lot worse. The veggies were solid, and the meat was tender. The kalbi came apart with my fork. It comes with 4 sides. The Jap Chae, Radish Kimchi, and Napa Kimchi were all good. They also threw in an extra side for us, so we could try it. It is kind of pricey, and there is no where to sit, but you can’t really expect KTown Los Angeles prices in Hawaii, can you?

Delicious and yummy! I ordered the Kai Bi which is basically Hawaiian short ribs and it was soo tender and well seasoned. My hubby got the Kai Bi and spicy bbq chicken and it was also soo good. If you get the mini you get rice and 2 sides and the regular has rice and 4 sides. All of the sides were really good and went really well with the meat. It is a bit pricy but it was well worth it. I got the mini and I am stuffed! If your in the area head over… its worth it!

I love this place. It’s location is very easy to find because it’s right behind the famous Japanese udon restaurant. The price is very reasonable like range 10 bucks and you can choose 4 different side dishes! I tried soft tofu, spicy pork, beef spicy soup and all good. I had to stay in Waikiki for three days alone and this place is perfect place to have lunch!

Just ate here. Super hole in the wall due to the layout of this place. The food is very good with big portions. I wound up liking the«yummy special» here so much that I ordered another one to go! It was around 15 bucks for three types of meat, rice and four choices of the side dishes you’d get in a restaurant. The kitchen, visible as you’re in line, looked very clean and organized.

Had to try Korean BBQ in Hawaii too. For some reason, food tastes better in paradise. Service was prompt and food was great. The only issue was seating. Limited to two tables outside and with a large group it would be nice to have indoor seating.

I get back from California yesterday and wanted to get a nice Korean Spicy Pork plate. So I walk over to Yummy’s in Waikiki. As I order my food, there is a gal sitting at the dining counter eating the exact same thing. BUT she comes up to the register and tells the lady that the spicy pork that she ordered had too much fatty pieces. She shows them the pieces(I can see it too). So, they took her plate back and prepared some replacement. Well, I’m talking to myself, NAH, they wouldn’t put her fatty pieces in my plate would they? Ha, I take my plate home and because I was there at the counter and saw her pieces I knew exactly what they were. Yup, they put it in my plate. I swear even the pieces with teeth marks. Come on Peter Kim. I know you can do better than this. The price for the meat isn’t high enough where they are forced to put someone else’s rejected food into the next person that orders it do they? I give you 3 stars because your food isn’t bad. BUT, wow. Now, I’ll never know if I ate leftover rejected food in the other plates I ordered. Beware.

Best take out Korean BBQ on island! This location has the best menu, and good side dishes. I believe this is the same owner as international market place where original yummy used to be. If you want a good quality, but cheap Korean food, this is a place to be. My favorite is meatjun, shrimpjun, or kalbi. Soooo good.
