Wyndham Vacation Resorts Royal Garden at Waikiki

Normally you go on vacation and gain weight. When I stayed here recently for a family wedding at the Ocean Crystal Chapel and a reception at the Outrigger on the Beach, it was perfectly situated between both. Walkable for us. It was a trek to my parents who were staying further down Waikiki at the other Outrigger. Maybe the hubby planned it that way. According to his wristband thing, we were averaging over six miles, that was probably before lunch.
This location was an easy walk to Ala Moana mall for us, a quick jaunt down to Hilton Village, and a blink of the eye to the canal. We learned the shortcuts to where we needed to go.
I loved it in this quiet area and beautifully appointed lobby. Our room had a small kitchenette, but we never used it. It also had a huge balcony, almost double the normal sized ones, but we never used it either. If you are a runner, the canal is just out the door and across the street with a great running trail.
The front desk staff was outstanding. We moved here after two nights down in the thick of Waikiki. It was planned that way, and we had reservations here. The staff was able to give us a room earlier than the normal check in time, so we didn’t need to store our luggage.
I would definitely stay here again because I don’t mind walking. If you don’t either, just bring your tennis shoes or a good pair of sandals. There is a bus stop somewhere close, but don’t bother. Just walk it.

This hotel is kind of stuck in prehistoric times, by allowing smoking in rooms. The ventilation is shared between all rooms, so if your neighbors smoke, your room will be filled with smoke as well. The roach problem throughout the hotel is pretty bad as well. Worse than most in Waikiki. Valet is super helpful and nice though. So as long you are coming or going, you should be happy.

Bottom Line:
Not a bad timeshare location for Wyndham, just wished the parking was closer to market rate.

I have no idea what this property is like but that’s not my issue. My issue is a WARNING — do not trust Wyndham when they are trying to sell you a timeshare! I had a horrible experience in 2012 that is still haunting me today. I was naïve and didn’t do my homework and it cost me nearly $ 8000 and it’s still damaging my credit. After buying the timeshare I heard from several friends what a bad idea they can be, so I did some homework. They lied to me, told me things that were exaggerated, told me I could get a better interest rate through my bank which was a LIE. Decided this was not a good idea for me so I paid a company a lot of $ to get me out of my contract, which they did. It took about 6 months and I never got a penny of my down payment back. But because I didn’t make the monthly payments (which the company working for me advised me NOT to do), it was reported on my credit and I am today still fighting to get it removed. They are SNAKES!!! I will never trust them or have anything to do with their properties again on general principle.

Wendy, the manager, is not accommodating and not a friendly «Hawaiian». I think it would be helpful for her to understand concierge service and accommodating guests.
I think another industry that doesn’t involve dealing with people or customer service may be better suited for her, because her personality or view on things would fit better doing something else. There were a disconnect between her and her employees and she won’t take responsibilities and acknowledge the lack of training and communication.

Green Lantern (Aaron), warmly greeted me upon arrival. Yes, a grown man in full ‘tight’ Green Lantern costume in the month of May. He noticed on my reservation notes that my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and he congratulated us (small gesture but it got brownie points in my book). While he was making sure that the room was ready for us he made small talk with me. I found out that it was spirit week and the staff had a different theme everyday.
He expressed how much he loved his job and that his coworkers were like family. He knew every staff that worked there. Through out the whole stay the staff was so welcoming, happy to be at their job, and courteous. Even the other visitors from different places were really nice.
He directed me to the visitor area and if your not from Hawaii I would recommend stoping here. They could book different tours and shows for you. They had tons of brochures and information about popular things to do in Hawaii. They also tried to lure me into viewing a time share presentation but my parents are currently owners so I opted out.
parking:
It cost $ 30 for valet parking (PER DAY) with in and out privileges. We stayed for 3 days and managed to find street metered parking each day. After 7 pm it’s free until 7 am. All day on Sunday it’s free parking. We spent $ 8 total.
I have stayed in the studio and the one bedroom. This is mostly information about the studio. I love the décor it’s modern, yet has a suttee Hawaiian flare to it.

We were also able to get an end room. However, it was next to the garbage shoot so we could hear people dropping off their trash. They were also doing construction on a neighboring building but we weren’t bothered by it since we were out and about playing tourist during the day.
Location:
I really like the location. It’s walking distance to several popular areas in Waikiki. It’s walking distance to the beach. Royal Hawaii Shopping Center. You can watch Fireworks on Friday night at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The staff are so nice and friendly. Normally service is so terrible that when the staff takes care of your needs with a smile it’s shocking these days. The building is gorgeous and the rooms comfortable.

While we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort and all the staff were super friendly and nice, except the security dude, who took almost perverse enjoyment of reminding my kids not to jump in the pool and criticized how I raise my kids.
This is not a hotel that has daily room service but more of a time-​share accommodations. Room service is available if you’re staying for more than a week, clean towels are available upon request, and little amenities are also available for request, like beach towels. All are reasonable for the price that we paid for the week.
Our biggest downer about the Wyndham is their security guard. Normally, you don’t see him, but if the kids are having fun around the pool, that would motivate him to wander from his seat to make a few comments to the kids about playing with the pool ball, splashing people, or just being loud, all while still on the other side of the wall from the pool area, and not identifying himself.
Now about the Resort: the pool area is small, around 10 lounge chairs, two picnic tables, and two barbecues/​grill. Ice is only on the 12^th floor. Laundry machines are on available on the 4^th floor, as is a small lanai. The playroom has a pool table, foosball, and a table shuffleboard. Cozy but not welcoming for the kids. No food-​service.
As my son said, «I like everything about this place except the pool». Too bad one jerk spoiled the week for him. We will not return here.

Just came back from a stay in unit 1808, booked from paradise with a view.
Pros: great views of the canal and other buildings, comfy couch, great TV, clean building, easy walk to heart of Waikiki
Cons: absolute lack of basic amenities like hand soap and Kleenex (really annoying to have to buy that stuff from ABC). Couldn’t borrow beach towels from the Wyndham because this is a private condo unit. Super expensive valet parking ($ 30+ per night). Unit not in the cleanest condition when we arrived. Limited toilet paper. Mattress topper was way too soft.
Tip: try to snag parking at the lot down the block for only $ 12 a night. But have to get there by 7pm or spots will be taken.
Overall, the unit wasn’t awful but the cons made our stay less than comfortable. Wouldn’t stay in this unit again.

Never never never. Booked a room here with
. Arrived at hotel after volunteering all day at the Sony open with sore feet and empty bellies only t be told that they had overbooked and we were moved to a different hotel. We were assured that accommodations would be the same I.e. King size bed. Arrived at substandard hotel they shifted us to. I’m sorry only twin beds here. Called back to Wyndham and were told that the hotel we were at could move a queen size bed into a room and charge us $ 20 extra. So we ended up at the park shore Aqua ocean view where they gave us lemon scented hand towels and a very pleasant attitude thanks to a long conversation with
. Wyndham you suck and to be specific the desk manager that was working the night of January 16^th 2015 you are the worst with your smirky smile and unsympathetic attitude. Thanks for nothing jerk!

Nearby Waikiki Beach, only 10 minutes walking distance. In the heart of downtown. The Duty Free shops, are also across the street. International Market Place is just vertically across the street, after the Duty Free shops.

I had a hard time deciding whether to give this place a 4 star review or not but ultimately decided against it.
I stayed here on 08÷29−09÷05÷14 with Brian P. in a studio in room 2303.
While the staff is friendly and the rooms are nicely decorated, some things knocked it back a star.
I brought a few jars of Trader Joe’s cookie butter from Vegas to leave as part of a tip for the cleaning staff. I brought every jar back home because not once on our 7 night stay did housekeeping stop by to clean our room. While I get that typically housekeeping doesn’t stop by daily in timeshares, at least once would have been nice.
Unfortunately just a few days into our vacation, we were in dire need of a new set of clean sheets. We asked at the front desk if new sheets could be sent up. A folded, fresh set was sitting atop the dirtied sheets! Gross!
We definitely could have used a fresh change of towels because we were showering sometimes twice daily due to riding the bus and going to the beach. Alas, we did not get any new towels. We ended up using the in room beach towels, which will cost you $ 25 if lost, so just don’t take them out of the hotel to the beach!
Apart from the housekeeping thing, Brian complained about the bed daily. Now that we’ve been back a few days he’s looking at chiropractors — that’s how bad the bed was for him. He said it felt like there was a spring sticking in his back the whole time. I offered to switch sides but he decided to give me the good side of the bed.
We went down to the pool area to go relax in a hot tub for Brian’s back. Unfortunately, there is no hot tub, just a small pool and a dry sauna. Oh, and lots of screaming babies. At night. Super not relaxing. Unfortunately when we went back up to the room, the cable in the building went out — but just for that one night. Ugh.
Onto the biggest plus to our room. The view. Omg it was gorgeous. We slept with the curtains open every night and we watched the sun rise 6 out of the 7 mornings we were there. Loved, loved, loved the view.
In general I really liked our hotel — great décor, great location, great view, but there are some things that they could definitely improve upon.

from the hotel staff, front desk people and door guy… every single of one them are always so welcoming and happy to see you. We booked a standard studio which had a gorgeous view from the Ala Wai canal. Breathtaking view and it also had a glimpse of the waikiki beach area which I love. Our hotel is pretty close to everything. 10 – 15 minute walk to all of your most popular touristy area and shopping center. Our room is a pretty good size for a standard queen studio. The mattress, pillow and bedding were all so so comfortable and may I say CLEAN? our room was immaculate. Definitely no bed bugs for sure. Because that is the first thing I look for when checking for hotels. I would recommend this hotel and would book it again in a heartbeat.

Staff here is awesome! Upon, check in, valet attendants both greeted us promptly. They allowed us to check in and would hold our vehicle for 15 minutes. I would have given 5 stars if not for the hefty parking fee of $ 30/​day! Wait, you mean I pay $ 300/​night plus $ 30/​day parking. If you can’t do away with the parking fee I think the least you could do is make it more reasonable for your patrons. That’s my only gripe! Anyhow… Andre and Aaron were working the front desk and both seemed excited to help us check in, my favorite type of service! Lol Andre was sure to point out the amenities of the resort and give us a little but of resort history! It’s great to know your staff is excited to work for such a company. Aaron politely assisted Andre in checking in and encouraged us to utilize the amenities. Did you know you can ask the front desk for laundry soap and they have laundry facilities on the 4^th floor? Awesome! I’m a gym rat, so although the fitness center is a little small, it definitely did it’s job! Thank you to Andre and Aaron and the entire Wyndham Royal Gardens staff I will definitely keep this resort in mind for future trips. Mahalo nui loa! A hui hou!

Staycation! Hubs and I had a free 3day/​2 night stay here, and we got to play tourist while we staycationed. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms are all newly renovated, and we scored a top-​floor room. It was an efficiency-​type room, and had a fridge, microwave, sink, plates, glasses, and utensils. The walk in shower was HUGE! The bed was a bit firm, for my taste, but it passed the bed-​bug check, and that’s always a good thing!
If you stay here, be sure to take them up on their rec room. We went to the pool, and then played pool in the rec room which was clean and had a tv and some tables if you want to hang out, along with a foosball table and a shuffle board. They also provide filtered water for guests, which I thought was pretty cool, since we usually buy a case of water whenever staying in a hotel.
All in all, it was a really nice stay. Would’ve given it 5 stars, but the air conditioning in the building was really random – the lobby was magnificently cold, but the elevators and hallways were stifling with no A/​C.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed here on a «staycation» for our 5 year anniversary. The hotel was nice and the room that we stayed in was modern and tastefully decorated. The only drawback was that in comparison to the other timeshare we had stayed in, Wyndham Beach Walk, it wasn’t as big. Also, this location is at the edge of Waikiki, so if you plan on heading to where all the action is, it is a bit of a walk. It is a quiet location though! Parking validation is $ 30.00 a night, billed to your account if you drive a car. Had a good time here and wouldn’t mind coming back.

1– The staff is amazing! Super friendly! Special shout out to Will at the front desk! He is the best, always had a smile and greeted us by name, every time! That’s priceless! He is a true asset to Wyndham.
2– The hotel is clean and recently renovated. The rooms were modern and tastefully decorated.
3– Location — Excellent! A block from the «strip» where you can shop until your heart is content. A short 5 – 7 minute walk to the beach. It’s a safe area and no concerns with safety.
4– Pool was great and never crowded.
5– Valet parking was awesome and friendly. A bit steep on the daily fee but there are so many good things about this place I will let it pass. =)
6– WIFI — Free!
If you’re on the fence about staying here, take it from me (I’m picky and have high standards), STAY HERE! YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!

I am a Worldmark Timeshare owner, staying here for the second time. Lots to love about this property.
1) Excellent staff… always, always friendly and helpful. 10 stars for staff!
2) The studio is cozy and clean. The bed is very comfortable… sheets feel luxurious. I want to take the sheets home!
3) Love, love, love the soap and shampoos! Amazingly refreshing scent.
4) Close enough to the Waikiki main drag, out-​of-​the-​way enough to be quieter
5) Gym equipment — enough variety for a complete workout
6) Kitchenette — well stocked with silverware/​plates/​glasses
7) Really good coffee! Mahalo!
8) WiFi in the room now… yeay!
Areas of improvement…
1) The gym opens at 7 am… at least open it at 5 am. I want to work out in the morning
2) TV in the gym was not working while we are here. Bummer! Easy enough fix, I didn’t call them about it either.
3) Tone down the presentation sales pitch a bit.
Lovely place. Will definitely come back. We live here on the island… we come to Waikiki for a few days a few times a year.

I stayed here on a recent trip to Honolulu and was overly impressed with Royal Garden at Waikiki (owned by Wyndham).
My first impression of this hotel had me in awe — the lobby was very ornate and classy with a chandelier and gorgeous marble flooring.
Check-​in was quick. The employee at the concierge desk was extremely helpful in assisting us with an itinerary based on our interests, as we only had approximately two and a half days to explore the island.
The room was clean and included a kitchenette and a balcony overlooking Honolulu and the canal. I thought all the little extras were nice touches. For example, the hotel provided place mats and cloth napkins on a little table in the kitchenette, and they also supplied us with wine glasses and various kitchen utensils and tools.
As far as proximity to the beach goes, while it isn’t on Waikiki Beach, the short 10 minute walk isn’t bad at all considering the weather is amazing most of the time. The hotel is located on a side street near the Ala Wai Canal. I found there wasn’t a lot of foot traffic in this area, so it is a quiet and relaxing spot to stay. I would definitely stay here again!

I came to Hawaii to surprise my family. It is so seldom my parents, sister, and I are together, and since I was mobile, I thought, what the heck. Well, it didn’t happen like I thought, and my parents said it was just be more relaxing to stay down in Waikiki. They had already set up my sister at the Beachwalk property, but were able to get me a room in Wyndom’s newly acquired Royal Garden Hotel. They only have valet parking ($ 25 per day), which I guess is alright, but now I had to tip the valet. As a rule, the more expensive your car is, you should tip them at least $ 5. I had a Budget rental, so I gave $ 3. If you plan out your day wisely, you’d only have to use the valet once or twice. A few times, I just paid the meter in front since I just needed to change or drop something off (.25 per ten minutes).
I had a studio on the 8^th floor. Nice cushy king-​sized bed, small dining table, medium sized closet with hangers and wall safe, and a decent sized bathroom. Not much drawer space under the flat-​screen tv, but usable. This unit had a small kitchenette with a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee machine, and toaster. It also had enough dishes and silverware for small microwaveable meals. No stove or dishwasher but dishtowels and soap. This was a great set-​up for me to have breakfast every morning.
I don’t know what the property was before, if it was a hotel or a condo, but it had all the Wyndom touches: marble counters, silver bathroom fixtures, and energy efficient lights. It’s not the quietest property as far as interior. I could hear the sliding door above me because it made this weird grinding noise. I could also hear the other two doors slamming shut (Why do other guests do that?) I also believe the people above had a small child because there was a little pitter-​patter. The shower did take a while to warm up and the head was a little on the low side. Other than these issues, it was a great property to stay at.
Keep in mind, this property is what I would consider as «far from the beach,» but it is in a quieter location. One day I just drove to Kapiolani Park and used the meter (½ hour per quarter). You might hear traffic during the day, but it was pretty quiet at night, because it is surrounded by residential buildings. If you like walking, the Ala Wai Canal is right there. Ala Moana is a little over a mile away, so you can walk or take the bus.
The staff is excellent! I had a leak in my toilet, which they fixed. They sprayed a non-​toxic insect repellent in some of the rooms, and warned everyone the times they were doing it, and they also gave notice to all the guests about a water shut-​off during the day. They gave a box of mac candies as a gesture of gratitude for the inconvenience, which was a nice touch. The valet guys were great… always in a good mood and helpful. The front desk people were also friendly, even for something so simple as change for the meter.
Remember, this is a timeshare property, so the activities desk will try to get you to attend a presentation. If this is something you want to do, go for it, otherwise avoid them at all costs. You can find some great deals by picking up a free Waikiki magazine on the street, and if you are looking for some great things to do, pick up a Honolulu Weekly. I would consider staying here again, but maybe on a higher floor and with a full kitchen.
