Good selection to tools, and wood. Prices were reasonable and staff were friendly.

My family purchased $ 80,000 in machines and parts from Woodcraft over ten years, but the last time I visited they gave me a major hassle over the return of two unused Tenryu blades. I had expected our longtime patronage to carry more weight. Now I buy our milling tools elsewhere.

Just called to see if they have wood burning tools. The guy I talked to said they have one. I asked how much it was and he said he doesn’t know off hand. So I asked if I have to come in to know the price and all he said was, «ya, sorry I don’t know the price off hand». Wtf! Why couldn’t he just put me on hold and go look how much it was. I don’t want to go in just to find out it’s out of my price range. That’s why I’m calling for the price first. I’m giving 3 stars because I’ve been there before and they have a large selection of wood crafting tools and wood… But this guy on the phone just ticked me off!

First of all, looking through some of these reviews for Woodcraft, OMG, there must be some ‘picky’ — ‘Complainy’ people, Woodcraft’s got to deal with.
For woodworking tools, specialty tools, and exotic woods, this is the place! There going to have 95% of what your looking for and if you look around a little bit, I’m sure you’ll find a tool you’ll like you didn’t know existed.
As for price… get used to it, everything is expensive in Hawaii. Power tools are heavy and cost more to ship to our precious Island, so ofcorse for a business to stay in business, it’s gonna pass that cost on to you. You’re paying for convenience of being able to walk out of the store with it.
Order any drill press online, and see what you pay in shipping cost???
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I’m always greeted when I walk in and asked if I could be helped or if I’m looking for anything in particular.
If they are busy, have a little patience, they are locally owned…

Just started to get into woodworking projects and this is definitely a «toy store» to browse around when you need specialty item, or tool of higher quality than offered at big box home improvement store. .
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but you can’t be bashful about what you want when searching for that tool or supply.

I have had nothing but good expediences here. The staff is very knowledgeable and honored my warranty for my porter cable router that had a button break. The prices are usually on par with places like HD or Lowes, but if you do catch them on some specific sales your get a great deal. This store is a woodworkers toy store, be careful you may come out with some new toys.

Wood. .. just all things that have to do with the material wood up in this piece. In the literal way.
If you have someone in the carpentry trade or someone that has a fetish towards all things wood, send them here. Let them know that they have all kinds of tools that can manipulate, carve, sand, stain, paint, polish, and shine wood to whatever their liking. In the literal way. Staff is more than knowledgeable and personable. If you’re into the major DIY projects and or crafts, this would definitely be one out of your two stops to make. .. the other being Ben Franklin.

A definite no. Woodcraft is listed as a factory authorized repair center for Makita, but don’t even think of getting your warranty honored here. I even enlisted the help of Makita; Makita’s customer service couldn’t have been better. The national office called the store; the local rep called the store. However, no one could convince Woodcraft that they had any obligation to the manufacturer to honor warranties.
To top it off, the staff at Woodcraft had the nerve to go off on a tangent about these poor local vendors expected to service things not bought directly from their store. GIVE ME A BREAK! Might one suggest that they shouldn’t be an authorized service center? OR, that maybe if they just did things right, like adding value to the purchase through good customer service and knowledge, they’d at least give these big box retailers a run for their money, right?
I love Hawaii and I’m always rooting for the underdog. In this case though, I’m not rooting for Woodcraft. Sorry.

I would give a number in the negative like –15 but it won’t let me. Customer service at this store is a complete joke. If it wasn’t for the store itself having the item I want in stock and on sale I would never need to come to this store at all. Again worst customer service I have ever seen.

If you look for parts, make sure that you call first to see if the parts guy is there. If the parts guy is not in store, nobody else can help you with looking for parts

Been here a few times and customer service sucks. I wanted to buy something in a glass case so the salesman said he would be right back with the key but never even came back to open it up. I had to ask someone else to open up the case for me. I get much better service at Slim’s and thats where I’ll be going from here on. Oh another thing is NOBODY asks if I need help…

Kinda funny how the reviews have a lot of 5’s and 1’s. Well, I’m definitely a 3. On the woods, they have a great selection, such as Koa, zebrawood, Brazilian cherry… it’s all there. The tool selection is also good, but as you’d expect, the prices are on the high side. What disturbs me is the customer service. I bought a penkit for nearly $ 40, but after I got around to putting it together, I find the contents in the box are not as advertised on the box. No problem, I’ll just call up the store and get it taken care of. Yeah, right. Receipt, date etc. It’s a Woodcraft kit. Where else would I get it. Well, it’s over 90 days, so tough. Even if it’s a defective product, if you don’t catch it within 90 days, it’s on you. Have a nice day! Prices are high, and sometimes you don’t get what you pay for…

Eek! Methinks not. I went in with my boyfriend who wants to start a little project. He wants to make a cigar ashtray which he has been thinking about for awhile. I must say, before we went looking for anything he did his research. He read about it, looked at YouTube videos, etc etc.
Ok, so we went in. We weren’t greeted hello… When two people were standing at the register. Both of us needed to use the restroom so I asked a worker at the back if there was a restroom in which she replied we have to get the key from the front. Went to front to ask for the bathroom key, lady informed us that it was not a public restroom (side note: we are customers) That was kind of rude. Especially since we were waiting for quite a while to ask for keys to use the restroom because one was on the phone, the other was ringing up customers. We were just standing there, and two other workers passed us. They never asked if we needed help and I honestly didn’t want to bother them because they «looked busy» (they really weren’t)
So after that bathroom ordeal. We looked around. Went to the woods on the corner and just kinda looked for a good piece of wood to get to make a cigar ashtray. A man came to ask us if we needed help, he didn’t really help us. Wasn’t very knowledgable about the different types of woods. But he was really nice, i appreciated being asked if we needed help. Then he brought us up to another worker asking which wood would be good to use to make a ashtray. First thing he says is the tools are really expensive then he went off on how my boyfriend should read a book watch videos and «know what he’s getting himself into» before he starts this little project… That left a bad taste…
Overall we had a bad experience at this store. And btw my boyfriend found a log in which he is making an awesome ashtray out of. Also, bought tools at city mill for 20 bucks. So I guess everything turned out for the best.

Love this place. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything you need for woodworking and more: large selection of tools, beautiful pieces of various types of wood, wood treating products, etc.. .. They also often have rare and hard to find products.
My only gripe is that sometimes the ads are misleading. For instance, recently they mailed out a post card that had in big letters «FESTOOL EVENT» and about 2 lines down in big letters «10% BAG EVENT», which was an event where you fill a bag provided by them with items and get 10% off of everything in the bag. In small print at the very bottom «Festool excluded». Kind of misleading, fellas. I know, my bad — I didn’t read the small print, but maybe not put those 2 things in big letters within 2 lines of each other.
They often have ads like this, so just a word of advice, be sure to read the small print because Festool and Fein are rarely discounted.

HORRIBLE customer service! If it wasn’t for the fact that they’re the only place that sells a particular brand that I’m looking for, I would take my business elsewhere. I called to check the availability of a product. From the time this woman answered the phone, she was rude. I asked her to check the availability of another product and said «Well I have to walk all the way back there again!» She didn’t even give me a chance to finish my sentence before! When she got back on the phone, I asked to talk to her supervisor. She and I ended up getting into a screaming match. When I spoke to her supervisor, Iris I think, she apologized.
Customer service reflects your business and I DID NOT appreciate being spoken to like that! I wish I knew somewhere else that sold General Finishes.

Best woodworking tools in Hawaii. Very friendly and helpful staff. Missing parts? Staff brought in handle for my old delta ts fence that I broke. Excellent portable power tools from top of the line Festools to the regular stuff. Then there are the table saws, band saws, jointers, etc. They have the largest bandsaw and sander I have ever seen. They have a ton of hand tools — chisels, planes, hammers, saws, etc. Very friendly people and the owner is a master carpenter.

Great place to go if you’re into woodworking:
1. HUGE selection of hand tools, electric tools and wood gadgets that you would not find in a Lowes or Home Depot. I guess they’re a franchise of a national chain, so what this store doesn’t stock, you can get in their extensive catalog.
2. EASY to find. Driving around Kalihi (any time of day) stinks. It stinks even more if you’re lost /​looking for a business. Woodcraft is located on the end of block, with a giant sign on the front of the building.
3. AWESOME customer service. Always willing to answer questions or help you find what you’re looking for.
4. They even offer woodworking CLASSES. How cool is that?

B has recently been getting into woodworking (desk, bed frame, etc.) and wanted to buy a sander machine thingie (shows my total lack of knowledge, eh?), so we headed over to Woodcraft. Although it’s a nationwide company, the service sure felt like it’s a small family-​run business. The employees (not only the sales people, but even the back of the house warehouse guys) were knowledgeable and willing to answer all kine any kine questions we had. They have a vast variety of all kinds of wood related items. Saw blades, pieces of beautiful wood (koa, purple, etc.), glue, gloss, sand paper, books, machines of all kinds, etc. We also heard that they have classes for a fee (box making, pen making, etc.) that are taught by local experts, and at the end of the class you take home whatever you make. Overall, a great store/​resource for the beginning woodworker.

DO NOT USE THE SERVICE DEPT AT WOODCRAFT!!!
While this store is convienent and offers a great deal to the local woodworker, I find their prices to be far higher than acceptable. Almost everything in the store is 10% over list and I usually buy the same items on Amazon for far less with free shipping. In spite of this, I have occasionally needed something quick and will elect to go to Woodcraft and pay the higher prices. On the other hand, my experience with their service department has been nothing short of criminal. The guy working in the shop will run up the charges and I strongly advise looking at other options.
The sales team in the store are quite good but be advised, the service department will not be a good experience.
