don’t ever come here my fellow Unilocalers. this place is a rat infestation! i saw a rat run past in the corner of my eye while waiting for my char siu! i was so terrify… i screamed! i am still experiencing chicken skin on my body while i am typing this review. the roast meats were lying around for hours and notice that the owner, the man with the glasses is talking/spitting while chopping away. overall this place should be investigated and shut down!

My mom says she use to come here a lot, but when they were in another location. So she was relieved when she was able to find this place when we were walking around Chinatown. My mom always buys the duck and char siu. Very yummy.

Salt and more salt. Roast Duck and Roast Pork was… I guess flavored too much(salt). Nam Fong is still the place to go for duck and pork. I am glad that they moved because did anyone ever peek into their shop? YIKES!!!

I can’t believe that I didn’t write a review for Wing Loy. This is THE place for Roast Pork, Roast Duck and Char Siu. The same people opened another store up the road called Wing Seng Market from what I’ve been told it is because he might not be able to renew the lease at the Wing Loy location. The Roast Pork is one of the best in Chinatown as well as the Roast Duck and Char Siu I like the Shoyu Chicken here too but I haven’t decided between here and Eastern Food Garden for the Shoyu Chicken yet. They also have innards and other items which I don’t usually buy so no review of that here. The only one that really speaks decent enough English that is easy to understand now is at the other store(Wing Seng) but all the meats are cooked at Wing Loy for the time being so we’ll see if the taste changes when the roaster gets installed there. as usual for Chinatown the only parking is at the parking structures or if you are lucky to find one on the street. Go early or they tend to run low after lunch time.

this review is based only on the roast pork. $ 7lb. i bought half pound because i was going to attempt to make pinakbet. what the heck, the roast pork was way overly salty. good thing i was putting it another dish that would be seasoning vegetables because you could not eat this by itself. the skin was not crunchy either. it was the smooth kind of skin that was hard like rock. too bad nam fong across the street was closed since that’s the only reason i came here. this place is take out only. they have charsiu and roast duck too but i haven’t tried it.

THEORIGINAL(KINDOF) There’s a long story about the original owners selling the old location on Kekaulike and then reopening that I won’t bore you with, but to make a long story short this is the place to go for Chinese BBQ. The roast duck? Meaty, not scrawny. The char siu? When charred, absolute perfection. The roast pork? Reliably good. The shoyu chicken? Juicy chunks of meat with the best shoyu sauce in town. But my favorite? The pei pa duck! This is one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten in a while. Before roasting the duck they split it open and flatten it so it resembles a pei pa(like a Chinese banjo I’m told) and season the hell out of it. This allows the duck to be roasted on both sides, locking in all the flavor. Try it! You may never go back to regular roast duck again!
