Wanna Hula

I hired Sarah for a private event and requested that she choreograph a hula for a special song to me. She came to the event and danced beautifully to my chosen song and even recorded video. All of my guests that attended, commented about how beautifully Sarah danced and I continue to hear how great she did a couple of years later.
Sarah is my go to choice for hula lessons here on Oahu and I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for hula performances or lessons.

I booked last minute hula lessons for a group of six through Veltra and they set us up with Sara. She was extremely patient, professional and encouraging. We got lost and arrived late for our lesson, but Sara was ever so patient. She offered numerous freebies, great hula advice, hula tips and catered to our requests. (We were a large! rowdy group with numerous questions) Four of our group members finished the Spartan Trifecta and were super sore, so after learning two dances, we were pooped! she also gave us he option of watching a private hula dance. Sara is an authentic and amazing dancer, and I was so glad we were able to book her on such short notice. The lessons were well worth the money, even despite our time getting cut short because of our own tardiness. Sara was extremely accomodating and grew in a couple freebies as well. At the end of our session, Sara danced for us — and it was one of the most memorable moments of the trip. She was absolutely magical. It was better than any high-​end entertainment show — to simply sit and watch the magic of hula through her.

Couldn’t stop smiling the whole lesson! She was inspiring, nice, and motivating! We learned so much!

I wanted to do something fun for my sisters 50^th birthday. She is a resident of Hawaii and has always wanted to Hula dance so… I found Wanna Hula? and Sarah! Not only did we have the most spectacular view but we had the best instructor. She taught us the basic moves and we then got the dance down! We took home a little video to never forget and had the best time laughing but enjoying the culture of Hawaii. I would recommend Sarah to anyone who wants a private lesson. When I told my 8 year old daughter we were going on a vacation to Hawaii she immediately asked if she could take a hula lesson. After a comprehensive internet search I decided to give Sarah a call. Sarah was great! She came to our rental house and gave Maggie and I a private lesson. Sarah was tons of fun!!! She was great with Maggie and great with me (a shy and reluctant dancer). Maggie and I learned several routines in just one hour and were laughing and enjoying ourselves with Sarah the whole time. We are prepared to go home and give all our family members back home our own private lua!

I have always been meaning to learn the hula dances for few of my favorite songs, but you can only learn so much via YouTube videos, so I decided that on my next trip to Hawaii I would find a way to get a «one on one» lesson, and I found a fantastic one!!!
A quick Google search led me to Sarah and «Wanna Hula?», and it was an awesome experience from the moment I contacted her, all the way to the end of my lesson. She was very quick with responding to my inquiries and I was able to arrange a private class for my friend and me at Magic Island. Hula on the beach… can there be anything more awesomely Hawaii than that?
The meeting location was clearly indicated so it was easy to find and Sarah was even early for our lesson. She was great about offering suggestions on where to hold the class (comfort, view, etc.) and had the lyrics to all three of the songs I had inquired about printed up for us too.
For the next hour, my friend and I got a dance tailored to our dancing experience/​ability (I have danced on and off since I was 5 yrs old and my friend had NEVER done hula in her life) and I can’t believe that we were taught an entire song in only an hour! We got the video recording add-​on and Sarah provided a tripod that works with cameras and phones so it was easy to record the dance. The video is going to be so handy to review when I get back home :)
I can’t recommend this enough, especially since this will be much better souvenir of your vacation than a tiki doll or a pineapple mug :-P

Sarah Chang of Wanna Hula is a consummate professional who loves the art of Hula, and this shows through in her teaching. She makes it fun for all of us to learn hula, and I think it’s fascinating to learn that there are descriptions and meaning behind every move!
I have personally watched Sarah teach beginners, and have them dancing, pretty good I might add, within minutes. She has great people skills and is very easy to work with. I would recommend Wanna Hula especially for beginners who may not consider themselves dancers, yet need to be ‘up and dancing’ in a short time. 2 thumbs up for Sarah Chang and Wanna Hula!

My husband is nearing a one year deployment and Sarah went out of her way to make our lesson as personal and romantic as possible. She gave me all I wanted and more for this amazing experience with my husband. We danced to our favorite country song on the beach during twilight. My manly army husband even enjoyed himself and Sarah made sure he danced manly too lol. We loved it and consider this a very happy milstone in our journey. Thank you for everything. Mahalo
