Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

I’ll admit, this hotel is in a pretty decent location, however, this hotel is far from a «resort.»
First off, the front desk staff is the most unfriendly welcoming individuals I’ve ever seen working a hotel. Upon checking in, the girl that assisted us looked as if they twisted her arm and forced her to work the front desk… far from welcoming. Second, a day before checking out, I went down to the front desk to see if I could get a portion of my bill slit since a couple of day of my vacation were actually work days (something I was told could be done prior to arriving), and the girl working this time, had the same attitude and told me that could not be done. I then asked to speak with a supervisor and a guy named «Stephen» came out who came out raising his voice without even trying to hear what my concern was. That whole front desk crew needs to be taught some serious customer service skills!!!
The hotel was nothing more than a basic hotel that you would stay in within your local city. It didn’t even look as if we were in Hawaii until we walked outside the hotel. The rooms are dingy looking, and if you’re staying here for multiple days… you’ll have to call housekeeping to request your sheets be changed. I didn’t think I would have to do such staying in a «resort.» The only thing nice about this hotel is probably their lobby.
Lastly, parking here is about $ 32 a night… and you may not even find a parking space if you come back to the hotel late enough.
Word to the wise, DO NOT EVEN BOTHER STAYING AT THIS HOTEL… EVEN IF IT’S THE CHEAPEST HOTEL IN WAIKIKI!!!

We were so happy to have such an amazing view of the Diamondhead Crater from our room. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The patio was awesome to hang out on and watch the ocean and the city. As expected, food and drinks in the resort are very expensive. The pool is small and not on the ground floor. There’s a tiki bar next to the pool that overlooks the ocean with a stage where they hosted live music each night. There was only one hot tub and it was really packed most of the time.
I loved the check in area that was partially indoors and outdoors. It was like a posh lounge. Overall, everything was really nice. When we needed help with our room keys after one got deactivated, they immediately sent someone to us to fix the problem. Just make sure your room key stays far away from your phone. It demagnetizes them.

We checked into this hotel on April 18^th. It’s finally coming to an end so I figured why the hell not write a review. In total we will have stayed for 45 days. (I didn’t check in Unilocal everyday though hehe). My husband is in the military and when we got orders to move here Marriott was our #1 choice since we are platinum members.
pros
–proximity to everything. Beach is across the street. all the bars, restaurants and shopping are walking distance but this hotel is tucked away at the end of the strip making it a little more quiet.
–the views are amazing from either side of the resort. If you’re platinum you’ll probably get a higher floor. if not just ask and I’m sure 9 out of 10 times if available the staff will accommodate your request.
–free breakfast buffet daily for platinum members
–the housekeeping staff is beyond words amazing. Really good at keeping the room neat and stocking up things we need. One time I left a few of my tees out on the chair and the staff neatly folded them and put it on the desk. Even my mom doesn’t do that for me. I also forgot to put my engagement ring in the safe one day and it did not go missing. It’s insured, but still thank you for giving me a whole new level of respect for your staff.
–the gym is beautiful and spacious.
–if you get sunset side like we did you will see fireworks from your balcony every Friday.
–lots of street parking options esp near the zoo.
–upon arrival Lani at the front desk sent up an extra fridge and microwave without us requesting since she knew we were here for the long haul.
Cons
–the walls are so thin and I think our bed faces another bed betweenthe wall. I could hear conversations and other things.
–the room doors slam really loud when it shuts. It doesn’t bother me during the day but when it’s 2 am and drunk ppl are getting ice (right by my room) in the middle of the night and slamming the doors I can’t sleep very well.
–30 dollar resort fee and 37 dollar valet or 32 self parking fee.
–I know I shouldn’t feel entitled but I wish Marriott gave us a little something extra besides points for staying 45 consecutive nights we stayed here. A gesture of appreciation. We didn’t get anything more than what a platinum member is supposed to get.
We’ve been loyal to Marriott for years. The ritz, jw and boscolos have been extraordinary to us and made us feel really appreciated. This Marriott was much less personable besides Lani at the front desk.
Because of the lack of good nights rest I’ve been getting I give this Marriott 3 stars. I have mixed feelings and would probably check out a different hotel if we are stay in Waikiki. I’m almost tempted to call front desk right now 11:50 because the guest in the room next door are so loud and I could practically hear their convo through these paper thin walls. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I’ve stayed here three times. 1^st time 5 stars, 2^nd time 5 stars and this past week 3 stars. So I decided to rate this hotel a 4.
Most of the staff is extremely nice, says Hi, housekeeping is sweet (I never require any service I keep the privacy sign on my door the entire time. I don’t need my bed made every day. I guess you can say I’m low maintanence) … everytime I walked down the hallway they really wanted to make sure I was sure that I didn’t need anything which I thought was sweet.
I didn’t get the opportunity to try the sushi place but I did try every other restaurant here on my most recent stay and wasn’t impressed with ANY of them. There is a nice bar by the pool with small $ 12 beers and basic food that isn’t impressive at all. I treated myself to the prime rib and crab buffet, everything was cold. Not impressed at all.
$ 30 a day resort fee wasn’t a surprise to me. But I sure think it should come with more than a newspaper, wifi, and TWO drinks your ENTIRE stay. As weak as the «mai tai punch» is, guests should get TWO A DAY not the entire week of a getaway.
Rooms are nice, last year I paid for a standard room they upgraded me for free and I LOVED my room. So this year I paid for the partial ocean view room since I loved the room last year. I paid more this trip for my room but didn’t get as fabulous of a room view.
All in all the good outweighs the bad here. Kevin at the front desk left a bad taste in my mouth but he was the only employee I ran into at the Marriott with a stick up his arse.

I was really impressed at my last staycation in Waikiki. I honestly didn’t expect much from the Marriott-​most hotels in Waikiki are overpriced, even the lower-​end hotels. Although I knew the Marriott wasn’t a lower-​end hotel, I hadn’t really heard anything outstanding about the resort. Anyway, our stay was near perfect from check-​in to check-​out.
Chris checked us in and was really informative about the property and all of the amenities. Our stay also came with a rental card for DVD’s, 2 small boxes of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, a bunch of free coffee/​tea vouchers for Seattle’s Best Coffee (there are 2 on property) and a complimentary photo session with HawaiiPro Photography (on-​site). Before he sent us up to our room, he asked if we were celebrating anything and we let him know were celebrating an anniversary. He disappeared for a minute and returned with a bigger box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts.
Our room was nice and simple and although we didn’t get a full, unobstructed view of the ocean, it was definitely good enough for our stay. The property has a pool for each tower. The pool closest to the ocean has a poolside bar and grill and a multitude of reclining beach chairs. The pool deck has an awesome view of Waikiki beach and the busy Kalakaua Avenue-​perfect for people watching. The pool on the mauka (mountain) side has the fitness center. I’ve stayed at resorts that are rated much higher than the Marriott and their fitness centers can’t even touch the Marriott’s in Waikiki. You guys know what I mean-​a lot of hotels will have a tiny room with 4, maybe 5 machines and call it a fitness center. The Marriott in Waikiki doesn’t mess around-​they have a bunch of treadmills, stationary bikes, weight machines, free weights and a cable machine. I never had to wait for a machine during our stay and the facility was really clean and well-​kept although it was busy most of the time.
In addition to the awesome fitness center, free fitness classes are available to guests and I took a morning yoga class. The class was held on the pool deck next to the fitness center and it was both relaxing and intense-​if you’re a yogi, you’ll know!
The Marriott is conveniently located right across the street from Waikiki Beach and many great restaurants and shops. We utilized the pool a lot but also made sure to take advantage of being right across the street from the beach. The hotel also lends out beach towels to guests (they’re a different color from the pool towels).
Overall, the Marriott did not disappoint one bit. The customer service we received during our stay was exceptional from Chris at check-​in, to the friendly pool attendants and housekeeping left a thank you note in our room and hotel employees greeted us when we saw them while walking around the hotel. The location is perfect and they have awesome restaurants on property (I highly recommend Sansei and d.k. Steakhouse). I definitely plan to stay there again on a future staycation.

Location is everything and the Marriott Waikiki does not disappoint! This property is MASSIVE. With over 1300 guest rooms, it ranks 3^rd largest hotel in Hawaii. The lobby is also massive with plenty of tables, chairs, couches TVs, and laptop charging stations. Why you should stay here: Upon arrival and checkin, you should recieve vouchers for free coffee or tea at the Seattle’s Best Coffee located on property. Also, 2 boxes of chocolate, and if you are elite Marriott, you get 1 voucher per day for the hotel breakfast buffet. There are several large hotels in the waikiki area, but the Marriott and the Hilton are the two best in my opinion. Bother are massive with Hilton as the largest with 3000 rooms. Both offer a ton of guest amenities. I just happen to like the Marriott a location a little better. Very close to all the best shopping and restaurants. You can walk along Waikiki and grab a bite or shop till you drop. Or hit the beach and enjoy some sun or water sports. Surf lessons happen daily and you can reserve them from the hotel concierge.
Also 2 ABC Stores flank the Northeast and Southwest corners of the lobby and shopping area. these are great places to pick up snacks and drinks. fresh fruit is available every morning here.
Variois tour busses pick up outside the hotel daily and did I mention the beach is right across the street? Well it is and worth visiting daily to enhance your calm.
Drawbacks to this hotel are not exclusive to Marriott, but include most of the hotels in the waikiki area, and in Hawaii in general. 1. $ 30 per day to park your car. This fee seams steep and makes me less likely to want to rent a car at all. 2. 30 resort fee daily. With this you get 2 Mai Tai drinks, the coffee vouchers, and access to high speed internet. The fact that it is mandatory is what bothers me. I don’t need Internet, I have it. I don’t need coffee or tea, and the Mai Tai isn’t necessary for me to enjoy your hotel.
One disappointment was the rooms. They feel a tad small and a little outdated. They could benifits from a renovation in the near future. The bathroom in our room was very small, but perhaps I am picky and would have done better with a suite. Nothing terrible though. The beds were comfortable and we had a great view of Diamond Head and the ocean.
Overall a 4 out of 5, mostly because the location and proximity to lots of shopping, restaurants and the beach.

Great location along the main strip in Waikiki. The lobby was pristine and very welcoming and not that crowded so it was easy to find places to sit and do work. The rooms were standard Marriott — reasonably sized and very clean with no problems. They have some great in-​hotel restaurants here which are extremely convenient.
Overall, it was a great stay and I would recommend again. I took off one star because their parking lot sucks with 2-​direction traffic areas that are not really wide enough for 2 cars.

The Top 6 Tips Marriott Waikiki
1.Do Not Order Room Service! The extra service charges, taxes, delivery charge and pre-​assigned gratuity will skyrocket the cost.
2. A taxi ride from the airport is approximately $ 45 one-​way. Seek out Charlie’s taxis for a flat $ 29 fare to the airport
3. The ABC store — in the hotel lobby, sells pints of fresh pineapple every morning.
4. Rent an Enterprise Car at the hotel not at the airport. (However, we got two cars with zero gas and it is «a challenge» to return the car to their garage after 8 o’clock at night.)
5. The valet parking staff is very professional and efficient: $ 32 hotel parking overnight. $ 37 valet. Tip.
6. Breakfast across the street at Wolfgang Puck Express is great! Bottomless cuppa, great eggs, fruit, toast. Great service.

Staycation in Waikiki!
Location: At the edge of Waikiki, near the Zoo and a short distance to the infamous Waikiki Beach and Kapiolani Park.
Price/​Resort Fees/​Parking: I used my Marriott points for our stay. I recommend booking through the website or sign up for the Marriott Rewards. There is a kama’aina rate, you just need to poke around the website. Resort fees are steep and expected, $ 30. I know there’s a long debate about «Resort» fees. I don’t fight it. Most hotels have it. Since I’m an Elite Gold member, the fee included 2 buffet, free coffee coupons, 2 Mai Tai or beer coupons. Parking is NOT included in the resort fee, about $ 30 dollars, it’s Waikiki!
Room: We stayed at the Kealohilani Tower and was upgraded to the 29^th floor, corner room. There was 2 balconies and a beautiful view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. It was REALLY high up! The room was roomy since it was a corner room. Typical room amenities of a Marriott. The shower/​toilet were separate from the sink with a good size counter space.
Pools/​Jacuzzi: We didn’t get a chance to try out the pools, will do next time.
Gym/​Workout: There’s workout room near one of the pools, equipment looked reasonable and good size.
Service: The staff, I encountered, were friendly and always smiling.
Ambiance: There are many areas to sit and sit and relax in the lobby area. It’s an open space and saw a few people lounging.
Final thoughts: Will most definitely stay again, for more than 1 night, to get a better feel of the place. There are bars and restaurants on this property I didn’t get a chance to explore.

Staff friendly upon arrival. I am a silver and Marriott Visa card holder and got a 1 level room upgrade. They let me check in about 5 hours early which I appreciated, also allowed me to check out 2 hours late because of my status. Rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade but were clean.
Resort fee is like $ 30 but you get a breakfast buffet, 2 drinks and a bunch of other coupons. The parking fee $ 32 a bit high, parking garage always packed and its tight making it difficult to navigate when there are other cars nearby.
Within walking distance of shops, restaurant and the beach.
Now the downside. I was awakened at 6:30 am by protestors screaming and yelling in the street. I think it’s absurd that they allow protests at the crack of dawn when people are trying to sleep! I called the front desk and they said nothing they can do. It literally ruined my day because I was sooo tired.

There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel if you’re coming from the airport. It’s a very nice hotel, not exactly on the beach but it’s only steps away. The hotel has two towers so it’s big. The pools and jacuzzi are on the third floor. I wish they had more pools and jacuzzis because they got pretty full throughout the day. There’s a second pool next to the moana grill, also on the third floor. If you need towels for the beach, go to the third floor. There are some in the fitness center that you can check out.
The guy working at the front desk was super nice. He gave us a bunch of free coffee vouchers for seattles best coffee as well as 2 drink tickets for free Mai tais (or non alcoholic beverages), a list of free events for hotel guests which included flower lei making, free chocolate covered macadamia nuts. The hotel fee was a bit high at $ 30 a day plus tax. The only thing that irritated me was that they said we could get a free souvenir picture so we went to ask about it. The first day the guy working told us it was only from 10 – 11 am so we should come back the next day. So we did and the girl working told us their camera wasn’t available that day… We didn’t end up getting our «free» (paid for in the hotel fees) photo shoot.
We were given a two bed room on the 31^st floor. Elevators there were pretty fast compared to other hotels. The room itself had a lot of light, a fridge hidden in the dresser, blow dryer, iron, ironing board and two balconies! It was great to be able to have an ocean and city view. Everything was clean and beds were super comfy. It was my friends first trip to Hawaii and this hotel was perfect!
Great location close to the beach and public transportation, clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

Great resort right on Waikiki. Check in at the front desk was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The lady was so sweet and just kept giving me useful information and handing freebies. Also, a huge shot out to the guys at valet! I stayed here for a week and used my rental car 2 –3 times a day and these guys got to know me and my vehicle, they were awesome and well worth the tips!

As far as enormous Waikiki hotels go, it’s not that bad. Way too big for the current staff that run it. Don’t expect all smooth sailing. The location is great and if your in the front wing, you are likely to get a view, no great views really from the back tower. With our Marriott status we got some free coffees at Seattle’s Best, 2 locations in the hotel. We also received some vouchers for Mai Tai punch. Not to be confused with an actual Mai Tai but it is mildly spiked.
The gym is very nice and located next to temporary breakfast buffet and upper, rear pool. Daily classes are a nice touch but most were Yoga and I think Zumba. The restaurant has been under remodel FOREVER. Even Hawaiian staff find the restaurant remodel way behind schedule.
Laundry uses credit cards, cause your never going to have enough quarters to do a load. Wash and dry at Lihu’e Marriott was $ 2.25, it was triple that here, but they are plentiful. If you opt to use Seattle’s Best use the one near the beach not in the lobby. The Italian restaurant Arancino has a great happy hour, nice staff but is not he quality of the Kahala location. Two small pools and one is almost always in the sun.

My hubby and I had a great time the first time we had stayed here a few years ago! So for our second trip here with our kids we decided to stay here again because it was only a block or two from the finish line of my marathon that I had ran that weekend. This time we were upgraded to a room with a lovely view of the Diamond head and the ocean. I especially enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning from our balcony (missing that right now).
To the front desk woman who assisted us during our check-​in process, thank you so much for your excellent customer service and for my personalized note regarding my race and family’s stay… I greatly appreciated that. And thank you for informing us about the cheaper daily parking lot near our hotel ($ 20 a day), giving us a few vouchers for free coffee and tea, as well as giving us a heads up on the free daily rental movie machine. My kids enjoyed watching the movies every other night when we were not out and about.
I love that this hotel has restaurants located on the third floor and a bar area that serves food with happy hour specials (The lava flow is my favorite) over looking the ocean. They also play live Hawaiian music pretty much every night until 9pm. They also have two pools, a fitness room, laundry room, Aveda spa (for massages), Enterprise (for car rentals) and two ABC stores on the first floor as well as a mini mall with some stores to shop for Hawaiian attire or souvenirs. I do NOT however like the new renovations they made to the lobby area… I liked the old version with all the beautiful plants, flowers and waterfall in the front entrance :(Overall we all had great stay here once again!

It’s been a while since we stayed at this Marriott. The rooms are big and spacious, but the bathrooms are a little small but it’s OK. I love all the stores on the ground floor and especially they have on-​site washers and dryers. The main lobby is beautiful, it’s open and brights with lots of seating, I can just spend my days sitting in their lobby and people watching.
When we come back later this year, I want to stay here again.

There are 2 very small pools, gym is actual quit nice with life fitness equipment, rooms are mediocre with great views (we had the room facing the diamond head and beach, small balcony fitting exactly two chairs and a mini side table. Not much else, so you can fit 2 people with furniture and its tight.
Breakfast buffet is average with a hefty pricing of $ 27.99 for what is included, Omelette station then a couple of hot foods, potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs, white rice, miso soup, congee, pickled veggies, pastry area and fruits (pineapple, papaya, watermelon).

I’ve stayed here at least 5 times and always really enjoy it. The service is very good, and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. It overlooks the beach on the east end of Waikiki, so very convenient to the surfing, shopping and dining along Kalakaua Ave. Their gym is very nice and clean, and they have several shops and restaurants in the building.
However, it needs improvements (looks like they are in the middle of renovating the grill restaurant). The pool is small and old, and there is plenty of wasted space next to it where they might expand and modernize it. While the pool bar has lots of seating, good live music and a nice view of the beach, it suffers from mediocre drinks and bar food. They often offer us free drink coupons when we stay, but we avoid the dismal mai tai at all costs.
Recently, they updated their lobby area and came up short. Before, it was a large atrium, with big trees and vegetation. Now, somebody decided to make it a sort of lounge area. A fine idea (the dated lava rock had to go), but there’s no focus, and no bar to give the a reason to be. They simply dumped a ton of furniture on the sterile floor area. Without plants, it looks like a forlorn furniture showroom. Fire the designer, or the manager who decided they could save money on a designer and did it themselves. Nonetheless, I’ll be back!

With any excuse to get away and stay in Waikiki, the Waikiki Beach Marriott has always been our choice. Being the Labor Day Weekend this hotel was booked up fast, so make your reservations early.
Everytime that we have stay here, we have enjoyed excellent views and a very relaxing atmosphere. Now with the newly renovated Fitness Center now on the Pualeilani Terrace near the Paoakalani Tower next to the pool and Kuhio Grill located on the 3^rd floor, staying here just got a whole lot better.
It’s 10x’s better than the old location, to enter you use your room key. There are lots of New Cardio, Elliptical, Stationary Bikes and a good selection of Life Fitness machines for every muscle group, along with free weights, towels and water are provided. The cool AC and the flat screen TV’s made working out here enjoyable, you can even jump in the pool after good workout and cool down, awesome.
What a great time we had here again, really looking forward to our next visit to The Waikiki Beach Marriott and utilizing their great facilities.

My boyfriend and I stayed here during our recent trip to Honolulu. When we first got here we were disappointed that on our first night we were given a double bed room and then they had us move rooms the 2^nd day to get the king size bed. It wasn’t too much of a drag but it just sets off the trip on the wrong foot when you don’t get the room you reserved. The rooms we stayed in were decent, the views we had were directly towards the beach and it was nice to sit out on the patio. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were a pretty good size. The water pressure in the shower was ok, I didn’t try any of their shampoo or soaps but my boyfriend liked them. The only thing we didn’t like was that the parking lot fills up quickly so you have to valet your car and it costs a bit more, but it made it easier on some nights.
Another perk that we enjoyed was that Honolulu cookie company was located at this hotel. Made it easy to buy some souvenirs. It was also nice that it was a short walk away from Waikiki beach. It was way better to lay out there as opposed to the pool at the hotel. The valet guys were also pleasant to interact with, it was nice that every morning they give cold bottles of water for whatever adventures you may have.
Overall, we loved the location and thought the stay was decent. We didn’t have any real complaints except for giving us the wrong room in the beginning. Other than that, pleasant place and would come back again in the future.
