The food here… That’s the reason you should check this place out, and pretty much what is getting the 5 stars from me. Outside looks small, and the parking isn’t that great. The inside appears way nicer, but over the years it’s starting to look like a typical sports bar, but the food here; you can easily order way too much, but that’s good because you can take it home after. I use to just order out sometimes. What do I get? Dynamite chicken, garlic steak, pork chops, chicken gizzards, nachos, tater tots, sashimi, fried rice, pretty much everything. But the listed are my favorites.

This was my first time to this bar and I have not been more drained in an hour in my life. The night started of nice and I bring out my hydro flask(better put it away) [Strike one] NOOUTSIDEDRINKS. Strike two, [NOTENOUGHSPACE] unless you like tight spaces. [Strike three](slow ass costumer service), take there sweet as time and when I directly came up to her she took another customers order before mine when I was the first one. This is why I will never go here ever again. Plus the chicken taste good only when your drunk(like rubber).

YAAAAAASSSS! the poppin bar in kalihi! haha LOCATION: on dillingham in the back of office depot. where lao star used to be. SETTING: the set up is cute inside. once you enter theres all the seats for you to choose from(just hope its not busy and all taken) but theres benches and the couches to choose from :) or you can always sit at the bar. theres usually a big crowd on weekends where the whole middle is filled with people! no joke lol so, go early to get a seat!!! they also have a pool table in the back & dart boards. FUN! SERVICE: the service is good there. not bad. lol the waitresses are cute and nice, esp britney! haha(shes there on the weekends fyi) lol but they immediately come to our table and ask us how we’re doing and what kind of drink or food we wanna start with. it continues from then on. they continuously come back to our table to see if we want more of something. really good service! FOOD: OMGTHEDYNAMITECHICKEN!!! soooo good!!! crispy just how i like it and the sauce is just amazing! i cant even explain it cuz you gotta go and try it for yourselves. its that good! we also ordered the nachos, which i thought was okay. the chips got soggy real quick which was gross. i shouldve got the tots. next time! but the drinks are also good. we ordered patron, and whoa! super good! and strong(not watered down) lol oh! and one more thing! they have karaōke!!! yaaas no lie! BUT, you have to sing in front of everybodyyyyy! haha so if you have no shame, or if you had like 5+ shots then i suggest you choose a song and have fun! :)

I’ve always liked underdogs, especially when I used to work on Sand Island. Perfect place for PAUHANA! Their mac and cheese truffle balls are to DIE for. With marinara sauce around and jalapenos too. I like their mocha soju, but I think it’s the same everywhere you go. I would recommend a reservation on a Friday because sometimes it can get packed. It’s kind of a hit or miss with this place on the crowd. Rather be safe than sorry!

My goto place on a Friday night or any night when I just want to sing and drink! Love the staff and love the people that come here! Try their kimchee friend rice, fires, and chicken! My regular drinks are miller, corona, patron, Vegas bomb, jäger bomb, and their variety or sakes.

I had not heard of this place until recently. I was invited by a friend, and was happy to see such good reviews when I looked them up on Unilocal. It was a chill place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon, and the food was great! We had the spicy ahi poke, fried chicken and soybeans and all of us enjoyed it. Considering how close this place is to where I live I will definitely be back! Parking is tight but it’s free. It’s Hawaii, we’re used to crappy parking.

Always a great place to celebrate! The smoke meat tater tots are awesome! Try the flavored soju drinks too, flavors are so yummy! Darts and pool are available, big screen tvs on the walls so you can catch the game or sing karaōke too… The Chef there is awesome, anything you order will be delicious!

Located in Kalihi, on Waiakamilo street. Good size bar with plenty of parking. A very casual hang out to just chill and have a few. Décor is very simple and nothing fancy. You have the usual bar settings, dart, pool table, and of course your TV. Staff was nice and friendly and always asking if we were ok. Food was just ok, nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered the tater tots, sauce was ketchup and something like thousand island dressing-hot and crispy. Calamari came out hot and crispy, nothing out of the ordinary. Dynamite chicken was so-so. Fried rice and sizzling steak was good. This place is a good chill out spot where you can just relax and have casual night out with friends. I love oysters but no oysters on menu. Definitely coming back whenever I’m in town.

I live in the Moanalua Area and this is one of the closer joints I’m able to enjoy with my Asian and Filipino friends in tow. Moanalua, you’re gonna have to step it up with the bars eventually. I enjoy coming here because the staff is friendly and for some regulars, they know you by name. Drinks are reasonably priced and they come out tasting awesome. You’ve got TV’s for Karaōke and sports, and Dart Boards and a Pool Table for your entertainment. I usually don’t play on any of them, mainly because I’m here to chill, talk story and unwind after a long day. Let’s talk about the food! So, this was the first time I tried food with moving parts(bonito flakes) on them. To give you an idea of what it is, look up pictures of their Dynamite Chicken and its toppings. At first, I got scared cause it was like videos I saw of moving seafood even after you’ve chopped off their heads. I was thinking to my friends at the time, «thanks for the warning!» Thankfully they’re not, because the flavors on the plate are incredible. As for the rest, I go for the Pork and Tots, Mac and Cheese Balls, and Calamari. Crunchy and oily goodness. Though much like a lot of bars, they stop serving food at 11pm which is a bummer because on some nights I’d rather skip the Zippy’s run for something more dive-y, and the ones I mentioned are perfect to munch on! Other thoughts: — Parking is so not the business. Nearby street parking is half a block away in either direction, and it wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t in the sketchy parts of Kalihi. — Bathrooms are tidy, so I’m happy with it. — No lingering smell of smoke, but man those vapes!

Parking is a little tight, outside is pretty plane, you walk in to 5 dart boards and rows of tables. Bar is located at back of space. Bar has 12 seats most were reserved when we arrived but the bartender found us two spots. People were awesome to move to help us get a spot together. Food is amazing. Bartender is one of the best that I have seen. Place fills up quick on Friday after work. Great drinks and food. Will be back 4 stars based on parking and limited bar spots for the crowd they get.

My friend and I visited Underdogs on a Friday for dinner around 7 p.m. and we were surprised by how crowded it was. My friend usually comes during the week for lunch and says that the sports bar is usually empty. But, on the Friday we went, Underdogs was the place to be. The parking lot was full and every table was taken, so we were lucky to even get seats. It was really dark in there and service wasn’t the greatest because it was really busy, but our servers were really nice and answered all our questions(and they were patient with my indecisiveness). I would revisit Underdogs because there’s still some greasily great dishes I have yet to try on the menu, but hopefully it’s not so claustrophic next time. Here’s what we ordered: «Truffle Mac and Cheese Poppers»: This deliciously cheesy dish comprised mac and cheese poppers battered and deep fried and topped with parmesan and truffle oil served on a layer of house-made marinara sauce with some jalapenos on the side. I loved the gooey, stringy mac and cheese mixture; it was sufficiently cheesy for my liking. When it comes to mac and cheese, the cheesier, the better! I liked how the fried, breaded exterior was crunchy, but it wasn’t overly hard and the layer also wasn’t too thick, so I could really enjoy the creamy mac and cheese interior. I was initially worried about the marinara layer just because I don’t like tomato sauce, but the sauce actually complemented the deep fried cheese really well. I don’t like jalapenos, but my friend gladly finished off this portion of the dish. I would order this heart attack on a plate again because it was gloriously cheesy and I liked the subtle taste of the marinara, which paired perfectly with those deep-fried, petite balls. «Kim Chee Fried Rice»: I read raving reviews about the kim chee fried rice, so we ordered this as our second dish. It includes white rice that’s fried with bacon, Portuguese sausage, kim chee, onions, garlic and green onions, and it comes with two eggs any style. My friend and I both love sunny side up eggs, so that was an easy choice. I don’t really eat kim chee by itself, but it gave the fried rice entrée some welcomed, added heat. I could aptly taste the meats included; I especially liked the bacon and sausage. I don’t really like onions, but I just put up with it for this medley. But, the onions didn’t really stand out because of all the flavors and ingredients included in this dish. I was glad to try this rice entrée that Underdogs is known for. The best part was cracking the eggs and watching the yolk seep through all the contents. «Bone-In Pork Chops»: Pork is one of my friend’s favorite meats, so this was the final dish we ordered. It includes fried pork chops topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions, served with a spicy ketchup. These pork chops were succulent, juicy and bursting with flavor. I loved how the bone actually wasn’t in all of the pieces; they were just two large pieces that were separate from the pork. There was a good amount of pork included on the platter. I appreciated how the meat wasn’t too tough for me to enjoy, but the breading was the best part. I didn’t eat much of the mushrooms and onions, but I enjoyed the savoriness from it. The crust was the perfect consistency and the layer of breading was really light. «Fried Rice»: I’m still curious to try the original fried rice from here, even though I did readily enjoy the kim chee version. This famous dish features white rice fried with bacon, Portuguese sausage, onions, peas, carrots, soy and oyster sauce, garlic and green onions; it also comes with two eggs, any style. I would probably get those sunny side up eggs again because I love it when the egg yolk oozes all over the rice and mushes it together. «Pork and Tots»: I really wanted to try this dish, but we had to save it for another time because we already had a good amount of food. This dish features smoked pork sautéed with onions and shoyu that’s tossed together with fried tater tots and topped with two sunny side eggs. I love tater tots more than fries, so this dish sounds like it’s right up my alley. I can’t wait to taste that juicy pork and while I’m not crazy about onions, I do want to try every aspect of this sharable entrée. «Delizioso Pesto Pizza di Pollo»: If I ever get a pizza from here, this is the one I would want to try first. It features a mouth-watering combination of shredded chicken, house-made pesto sauce and Pesto and mozzarella cheeses. Pesto has to be one of my favorite sauces, and because this pizza features a cheesy medley, I can’t wait to try it. «Furikake Garlic Chicken»: I saw lots of photos of this dish, and I was telling my friend that I already want to order this on our next visit. It features fried chicken tossed in a chili soy sauce and it’s topped with furikake and green onions. I love fried chicken in of itself, but when it’s covered with furikake and garlic, I’m sure it’s even more phenomenal.

Surprisingly packed… and pretty spacious. Not what you would have expected from the outside. There is a limited number of parking spaces, so if you are coming with a big group you better arrive early or look for parking around the area.

OHMYGOSH! This place is an absolute must-try. It looks like a pretty sketch place at first located on waiakamilo road in kalihi but don’t let that deter you from entering. The FOODISAMAZING! We had Mac and cheese poppers, Kim chee fried rice and strawberry shochu. The Mac and cheese poppers are these big, crispy popper balls stuffed with Mac and cheese(super good! But don’t pack it for the next day – I ended up throwing away the leftovers). And the Kim chee fried rice is so Ono. They had Portuguese sausage, egg made your style, and lots of yummy Kim chee! I just wish they had added lots of bacon but regardless, it’s still one of the best Kim chee fried rice dishes I’ve had. The shochu was tasty. They have a bunch of different flavored like mango and lychee and it’s only 15 dollars for a carafe. Drinks seemed pretty cheap and the food was reasonably priced. They also have dart boards near the entrance of the bar. Seriously go check this place out!

This place is probably one of my favorite bars especially because it’s in town. Well not that I’m much of a bar person but for good pupus and drinks, this would be my go to place when hanging out with friends. I came here quite a few times considering I do live in Kalihi so it’s a highly recommended place for local people who live in the area. The outside may look rugged but inside is a typical bar like atmosphere with tvs all around as well as tables and stools throughout the place. The first time I came here I didn’t know where it was as you’ll miss it if you’re not familiar with this area. It’s located right behind that discounted swapmeet like store. They do have a small parking lot that I’m not too fond of. Limited parking especially on weekends so your best bet will have to be to find street parking. The weekdays that I’ve gone there hasn’t been too bad on parking, maybe because I would go later on in the evening. I went here yesterday because of the HITRAFFIC we experienced due to the zipper lane being shut down. I wasn’t surprised that this place was packed because I would too stay in town before heading down west side and sitting in traffic for more than few hours. Coming from waikiki, it already took me more than an hour half so by then I was like I need a drink. Other friends had the same idea and stopped by this place until traffic settled down so I joined them around 7pm. Even though it was jam packed with all these people having the same idea to go to a bar and let the traffic die down, the service was awesome. They tended to us periodically and always checked up on us to see if we needed anything and filled up our water when needed. Awesome comfort food of anything you order on the menu. I’ve tried the dynamite chicken, fried rice, fries, steak with mushrooms and onions, kalua pork quesadillas, seared cajun ahi, fried noodles with chicken katsu and the truffle mac and cheese. All very tasty and reasonable prices. Never had a problem with their food offerings that they serve here. Definitely a recommended place for those that like bar type of food and looking for a place to just hangout.

This is my favorite bar. Great food and awesome cocktails. Great ambience for the younger crowd. There’s a pool table, dart boards, and always packed on UFC fight nights. We usually go during the day so parking is not a problem. Last week was the first time I went in at night and it was packed. We had to park at Goodland and walk over. Little sketchy walk at night, but once you get inside, it’s all worth it! My favorite is the Nihon Steak, served on a bed of french fries. Haven’t been able to figure out that sauce yet, but it’s to die for. I don’t eat Sashimi, but if you’re into blackened ahi, they serve the biggest portion I’ve ever seen. But my absolute favorite is the soju cocktail. I’ve tried several around town, but this one is by far, my favorite! Don’t judge this book by its outside. Definitely must walk in and once your try the steak and a cocktail, you will be hooked too! I promise!

Never actually been to a sports bar so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was told that we were going to Underdogs for lunch… lol I never watch football either so I somehow managed to end up at a sports bar on the busiest day of the year«Super Bowl 49». At least, I had a great time because the food was good, the staffs are friendly and even the patrons are easy going and laid back. Although the team I was supposedly rooting for didn’t win, «sorry Seahawks!» I still didn’t mind. We ordered the spicy ahi poke, crispy fried calamari, crispy chicken gizzards, and the sizzling New York steak. Everything tastes good, but it was way too much food for three people so we ended up taking the rest home.
