Place was«ok». Tried the meatloaf, brown rice, and Mint and honey iced green tea. They need to melt the honey in hot water first, before putting it in my iced tea Honey solidifies in cold so it did not melt in my drink. Nothing worth remembering. Good customer service though.

I’ve had a few things from Umeke over the past year or so. Recently, I got a brown rice bowl for $ 8.75: black beans, ground beef, tomato, sour cream, and cheese, with the roasted poblano and corn salsa on top! I couldn’t finish it all, with about a quarter to a third left, and saved it for the next day’s lunch, supplemented with a frozen veggie patty and half an avocado. Overall the bowl is a good amount of food for the money, especially considering a full size plate lunch anywhere nearby would run you about the same amount, and you’d be getting less nutritious stuff for your money. Feed your body so it’ll feel good!

Good vegetarian/vegan-friendly breakfast and lunch spot in downtown. A little pricey but the green smoothies are delicious and a lot better for you than a glazed donut!

They are awesome! I recently found out I have quite a few allergies including gluten. The employees will know or find out what’s in something with a smile! The owner Michelle has come out to talk to me several times to identify what I can eat based on my list of what I can’t eat. In addition to gluten I am even more cane sugar and egg intolerant. She said I can bring in my own bread and they would keep it just for my sandwiches and burgers. What great customer service! Obviously I love this place… oh and the food is incredible too! They also sell snacks and vitamins! ‚ I work downtown and it is the best option I have found so far! Gluten free burgers!

Yum! I love this place. It usually takes them awhile to make my favorite grilled sandwich, but for me it’s well worth the wait :) they have a large myriad of drinks and snacks. They have my favorite soda Blue Sky Soda ! I also usually get their ginger pineapple cooler when I’m up for it.

Ehhh. the salmon burger isn’t too bad, but considering I paid the extra dollar for a Savvy Salmon which is supposed to have avocado — I was extremely disappointed — after walking two blocks back to my office — to find there was no avocado in my burger. Also, I couldn’t tell whether the garlic aioli was truly garlic aioli or just mayo. It was so thinly spread with no garlic flavor. I may give them another try but will definitely look at my order before leaving — especially if I’m going to spend ten bucks for a sandwich.

20 minutes wait for a watered down acai bowl when only 2 people were in front of me. The acai bowl tastes like soy milk with ice. Not worth the wait or the money…

Definitely a mixed bag. First off, I have only been here in the morning so I can’t speak to lunch. The brown rice musubi with tofu and the breakfast burritos are yummy. Also, the green iced tea with mint and honey, at first I was like«wtf» but a few more sips and I loved it. Very minty, freshens your breath. The service is S-L-O-W as molasses! I’m like the only person there in the morning and it takes 15 mins to make my food and iced tea(isn’t that premade?). In addition DONOTGETTHEHIBISCUSICEDTEA, it’s freaking grape juice mixed with tea and like simple syrup. It’s so sweet and like, thick tasting. I threw the whole thing away. Idk what is the deal with this place and like, children’s grape juice. Looking forward to trying the smoothies. Will update then.

Okay. But the kombucha smells a bit like urine and tastes like how it smells. I recommend the burritos, tofu poké and breakfast smoothies.

Extremely overpriced. Don’t get me wrong, the food is not bad. The detox soup is tasty. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. Today, for a light lunch I ordered a mini plate with chili and kale salad, and detox soup. Total: $ 15.59, for hardly any food.

Who said the kale smoothie was good??? Come here for lunch sometimes. Good selection of healthiness, and they have daily specials. I like their meatloaf. It ain’t that bad. Workers were helpful and very nice. MOOD: Too healthy for me.

This place added bowls, wraps, and salads. And they are awesome. This is very«Chipotle”-esque for those of you who wonder why Hawaii is Chipotle-less. Basically, you state which of these you want, and they add on the fixings that you tell them to. So I have been frequenting this place quite a bit these days to get the bowl. It comes with brown rice. You can pick your type of beans. I like black. Then, you pick a protein; I like chicken, but they have vegetarian options. And then you pick three toppings from corn, tomato, onion, cilantro, and, I think, cheese. Lastly, you get to pick what type of dressing or salsa you want. I always go for the corn, so that I don’t have to use up one of my three toppings on corn. It is delicious! My only gripe is that if you fall in line for something that is pre-made like a bowl, the people who are falling in line to order a burger or a smoothie or something not pre-made are able to cut you when the two lines awkwardly merge to go to the cash register. I saw a sign seeking a cashier, so hopefully, this will remedy the traffic jam by having two separate cashiers for pre-made goods and not pre-made food.

Today was my first time eating at Umeke Market. I didn’t know of this place until today, so I had no idea what to expect besides what my boyfriend told me about it being healthy. The food itself was fairly good. Nothing great, nothing bad. I paid a little over $ 10 for kale greens(they usually charge extra but since they ran out of the cole slaw, there was no upcharge), quinoa rice and a portobello mushroom stuffed with wild rice and something else. with cheese on top. It was OK but not sure if it was worth $ 11…Boyfriend had the Garlic-Hoisin Turkey Meatloaf, which was again pretty good considering that this is «healthy» food(and I’m saying this loosely because I don’t really know!). But, portions were small-ish. Not sure that we will be itching to come back here. Maybe the food was so-so because the service was so-so. The guy taking our order didn’t have a name tag on so I can’t tell you who it was, but he wasn’t very friendly or helpful in educating us about their menu. Most of these healthy eateries like to educate you on the different foods they’ve got going on and are super enthusiastic. I did not get that here. My overall experience was«meh». Again– nothing BAD about this place but definitely nothing GOOD, either.

Great place, convenient to work(downtown). All the food is healthy and yummy and the homemade kombucha is by far one of my favorites. They get quite busy during the work week lunch hour but the workers are very efficient and make the line go quick. A place for everyone to find a healthy lunch choice!

YUMMY! I love the customer service and food here! I have a wrap this morning that was fresh and tasty. The butternut squash stew is amazing, finally somewhere that serves it! Everything so far has been delicious and the staff are super nice. I will be back to try many things! My son LOVED his smoothie! Anywhere we love TOGETHER is definitely going to be a regular!

The start of a new year is always filled with more healthy conscious choices. Eat less this, drink more water, portion this, don’t eat that… it’s definitely hard to come across a place that offers both delicious and healthy. My usual go to salad joints are sadly closed during holiday season, and really who could blame them since downtown is a ghost town. Umeke market was open and low and behold, have I been underestimating this place. This place has a cafeteria setup, choice of brown rice or mix brown rice with quinoa and toss salad with your entrée of choice. The only downside to this place? it’s pretty pricey, but again what health joint isn’t? The stuffed mushroom was delicious and packing with flavor and the dressing for the toss was great as well. Definitely recommend this place if you’re not on a budget and feeling healthy!

Automatic 4 stars for Umeke for being a healthy food option in Hawaii! When I went, there was no line so it wasn’t confusing how to order. They had a register on the left and hot food options on the right. I quickly walked to the right to order my meatloaf while my hubs went to the left to order a burger. I thought the size options were a little confusing. I’d suggest they explain that more on the menu(I can’t remember if they did). There were also little signs everywhere that described additional menu options, but we didn’t know their prices. Once we ordered we sat and waited for our food. We didn’t wait too long for the kale smoothie to arrive. Super super filling! You don’t need anything to eat actually if you order this as a meal. However I enjoyed my meatloaf while my hubs was waiting for his buffalo burger. I have no idea what was in the meatloaf, but I didn’t care. It tasted like meatloaf to me. The burger was tender and moist, a good deviation from normal beef. Minus one star for not being open on weekends. Hello I can only make it down here on weekends! I want healthy options toooo.

First time trying Umeke got a sandwich. I think it was some sort of chicken? Anyways, was pretty subpar taste-wise and the bun was burnt. It also took forever for someone to make… Wasn’t too happy about it but thought maybe just a fluke. Came back a second time and got a pre-made salad.(in hind sight I was taking a risk just at that) got back to my office, opened it up to see that everything was wilted, croutons mushy etc. Couldn’t really tell by looking at it before I purchased it. I was so annoyed! Annoyed at Umeke and at myself for going back there. Ended up going back to return the salad. Staff was friendly in asking if I wanted anything else but I was done. Umeke, you don’t get a third chance.

Umeke Market, located in Bishop Square along Hotel Street, is my favorite downtown spot for a quick and healthy lunch. The service is always incredibly friendly and the food is always outstanding! My favorite(and Umeke Market Customer Favorite) is the Garlic-Hoisin Turkey Meatloaf. The mini plate, which comes with a scoop of brown rice or brown barley rice, green salad or cole slaw, and a thick slab of the turkey meatloaf, is a great deal at $ 6.95! Plus, they will offer to pour on more of the meatloaf sauce. Heavens, yes! I am not a fan of meatloaf(Sorry Mom), but this is no dry brick of meat and bread crumbs(Again, sorry Mom). The Garlic-Hoisin Turkey Meatloaf is tender and flavorful! And the sauce is incredible! There are many other hot entrée items like Tofu Butternut Squash Stew or Thai Coconut Curry with Chicken. They also have amazing soups! My favorite is the Detox Soup. Sometimes, if I bring a sandwich for lunch from home, I will run across the street for just a cup of the soup to eat it with! Aside from plate lunches, they also serve sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and even baked goods! I highly recommend the Pineapple Kale Smoothie. If you are skeptical of the magical vegetable, this Kale Smoothie(which tastes like pineapple!) is a great first step. You won’t even realize there is kale in it, aside from the green color. Umeke Market also recently began serving kombucha daily! I lovelovelove kombucha and especially love their Goji Strawberry flavor! I will probably be back tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day…
