They have musubis, including ume and shiso, kabocha, bentos, and other take-out Japanese food. Quick and friendly service. Get there early for best selection and nearby seating.

I work in the Pioneer Plaza building where the store is located at and I visit here maybe 2 or 3 times a week. The curry is good, tasting homemade actually. The chicken Katsu is great. The Katsu-don they have is awesome with flavor. Would recommend to anyone!

I am a big fan of Okazuya Kahuna’s sister store Sushi Kahuna, so naturally I am a big fan of this store. While Sushi Kahuna concentrates on udon, Okazuya Kahuna has a great variety of bento lunches and musubi! The key is to come early for the best selection. I am a huge fan of Chicken Karaage and Musubi bento lunch. They also offer different types of musubi and sides of nishime and sansai vegetables. I love that this place has Japanese Curry! You can get Curry and Rice or Curry Katsu. I tried the Curry Katsu Udon the other day and gave it a thumbs up! Japanese food at a reasonable price is difficult to find in Downtown Honolulu, so I am so happy that Sushi Kahuna decided to open a second location.

To my taste the chicken Katsu could have been crisper. The curry could have been warmer. The carrots and potatoes could have been cut more uniformly. I was pretty hungry but didn’t feel like finishing. I guess that says it.

Not bad for a little lunch place in Pioneer Plaza. I come here for the $ 1.50 brown rice salmon musubis and the steamed sweet shoyu veggies. The curry option is only $ 6 and it comes with a lot of rice and freshly made curry. The only problem I have is the pricing. The$ 6 curry bowl is bountiful, but the steamed veggies come in a small container and it’s $ 4.75!!! #expensive

Located in Pioneer Plaza, Okazuya Kahuna makes a mean Beef Curry! I’ve eaten it on days where I didn’t bring home lunch and wanted something filling to eat and the Beef Curry always meets my expectations! And it’s pretty cheap! about $ 5 for the curry and rice and it’s enough for 2 meals. They also sell bentos, musubi, and other items you’d expect from an okazuya — just not a lot of selection. The workers here are always friendly and helpful — and the owner is always there, working very hard.

New lunch place alert in Pioneer Plaza food court lobby area! Fully open next week, pre-open this week with pre-made onigiri sets. Okazuya style lunch place… full review to come when they fully open. Meanwhile, their Onigiri set is pretty good. Comes with Ume Musubi, Salmon Musubi, karaage chicken, and a slice of japanese omelette for $ 6.50.
