There are really only rare instances where I’d knowingly subject myself to battling traffic during rush hour in the Ward area to go and wait in a long line for food out on a lawn. Lol! When it comes to The Pig and The Lady, I’d do it pretty often if I could. The phở french dip doesn’t come close to any of the other Vietnamese places I’ve tried. My husband says, it’s the only place that doesn’t shave the meat so thin and isn’t hesitant to throw a quarter inch brisket in a sandwich. It’s no joke!!! It’s meaty and delicious. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. The bread is today and crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside. The veggies are fresh and tasty and there’s a generous portion of it in every bite. The brisket is so soft and juicy. The fat is sinful and while some may eat it without a second thought, I had to close my eyes. But, it was worth it. The service is excellent. They do it all… under a tent and on the lawn. Can’t wait to do it again!!!

First off the name is super original and cute, I’ve heard of this place and have been wanting to eat here but have never made it to their location in downtown. They are usually at the farmers market Wednesday afternoons at Blaisdell buy for the life of me I don’t know why I haven’t tried them out sooner. Today I finally tried this gem, their menu is pretty impressive, especially when they’re operating out of a tent. I wanted to literally try the whole menu and couldn’t decide so I asked the guy taking order what their most popular dish is and he answered French dip so quickly I was impressed. Going off of the workers recommendation, I ordered the French dip sandwich and when I say it was the best damn sandwich I’ve ever had, I mean it! This magnificent sandwich was in a French bread nice and crispy with the most amazingly tender meat I’ve ever had! I could die tomorrow and be happy because of the delicious meat, it was so tender and juicy. My French dip also had a sauce in it that just completed the sandwich, also being that the name is French dip there was a soupy dip that was just extra amazing and it just changed my life forever. Now because of this sandwich, all other sandwiches are garbage. The pig and the lady’s French dip sandwich deserves my entire Unilocal review. I almost bought another sandwich to take home but thank God my friend pulled me away and told me not to. I am counting the days, hours, seconds down until next Wednesday so that my taste buds can again be reunited with their French dip sandwich. Thank you pig & lady for the life changing sandwich and I can’t imagine what amazing food the actual restaurant has. We haven’t met but I love you guys!

This is by far one of my favorite eateries to get food at the Honolulu Farmer’s Market. While there are many places to eat at this farmer’s market, I still come back again and again after trying other places. What I love is how the flavors are complex and that there are so many different ingredients used. The food is made fresh on the spot and they have a whole kitchen and kitchen staff dedicated to making all of the food. The menu is extensive with lots of different options and choices. My favorites are the Farmer’s Curry(a curry made with fresh veggies from the farmer’s market), any banh mi(Vietnamese sandwich), and any phở(rice noodle soup). The Pig and the Lady has a couple of tables with many chairs and it is all open-air seating. If all of the seating is full you can have a picnic if you bring a towel or blanket. The large, open, grassy areas are free for everyone to use. Credit cards and cash are accepted and parking is shared with the Blaisdell Center.

I tried the puff pastry sandwich, which came with a mini-phở so I picked oxtail soup. The oxtail was tender and fatty and had an amazing broth – they skimped on the veggies though. The sandwich was delicious, the puff pastry was buttery and flaky. The line took what felt like forever, but it was worth the wait!

I’m pretty happy right now b/c I’m sitting in front of a wonderful bowl of Free Range Chicken Phở from The Pig & the Lady that I just picked up at the Blaisdell Farmers Market. I know chicken phở sounds like the least exciting option on the menu, but it’s my favorite. First of all, I got it ‘to go.’ The bowl is nice and wide for the required combining of the broth and getting exactly what I want with each chopstick-ful.(There seems to be a problem getting phở ‘to go’ from other Vietnamese establishments, with their narrow styrofoam containers. They may not realize how this impacts our eating experience.) 2ndly, I like the depth of flavor of the broth. While I consider PATL«fusion» Vietnamese, they know when to stay true and when to deviate/get creative. For example, you really taste the star anise but, yes, there is a soft-boiled egg in there. You don’t get the side of bean sprouts, lemon wedges and wilted basil leaves, but the bowl contains everything you need: thin slices of fresh onions, phở noodles, little pieces of chopped up red chili peppers, the afore-mentioned egg, a thin wedge of lime and, most imprtantly, shredded chicken. So much flavor, you can– and should– skip the Sriracha and hoison sauce! 3rd: Long line and you forgot to go to the ATM? No problem! They’re very efficient so the line moves quickly. They can process credit cards(no paper receipt though). The food is so good, you won’t mind waiting a bit to order, and then, to pick up your food. There’s even a little seating area if you should be so lucky as to score a seat. I prefer getting it to go, where I can pig-out on my Pig & the Lady in the comfort of my own home without quizzical looks from polite society. PATL has phở-making down to a science, every ingredient and whatever labor-intensive process they use! I stop by nearly every Wednesday. Highly recommend!

Probably one of the best phở ever! Had the Prime Rib Phở. It was spicy, but not the kind of spice that makes you cry and wish you never tried it. It had hints of citrus, lemon grass and ginger all combined in a way that no one flavor out shined the other. The noodles are light and soak up the wonderful broth. Kept me warm and my tummy happy.

We walked about 3 miles to visit the Farmer’s Market and were not disappointed by The Pig and the Lady. Ordered a dry noodle dish with meatballs and the market curry. Paired off with a Thai Jasmine iced tea we kept moaning with pleasure as we sat in the grass enjoying the perfect February temps in Waikiki. I know they also have a restaurant in ChinaTown so don’t leave Oahu without spoiling yourself at T.P.A.T.L!

After hearing about it many times, I finally got to try this place at the Blaisdell Farmer’s Market. I had their Phở French Dip. It came out quickly and was great for a(very) late lunch. The flavors were good and the sauce was delicious. The only downside was there was quite a bit of fat on the pieces of beef, but I’d still eat it again. Hope to come back again and try some of their other specialties!

This place is terrific! I ate here twice while on holiday. I love that they have a couple of vegetarian options. It can be really hard to find vegetarian Phở. The tofu sandwich is also delicious. I will be back when in Honolulu again!

Another check for pig and the lady! I have journeyed to kcc farmers market for their pop up booth, and their Chinatown main restaurant location. They are usually stationed at the Honolulu market on Wednesdays, in the back of the Neil bleisdail center. I was supposed to buy some veggies, but my feet and stomach brought be to their section;) I love their French phở dip, but I decided to be adventurous and try their«Phở Ga.» It’s a noodle soup of their mamas classic phở. Ingredients such as free ranged poached chicken, soft poached egg, aromatic herbs, chicken cracklings, and hand cut rice noodles were beautifully used. It was a nice breezy Wednesday afternoon in December. I sat down on one of their tables that they provide for hungry customers like me. I waited a few minutes before they brought a generous portion of my phở ga. They dressed a good amount of veggies and bean sprouts on top. I eagerly grabbed a few pieces of the pickled chilies in the jar, and with my fork, spoon, and chopsticks in hand, I was ready to eat! Ohhhhh that first bite was delightful. The squeeze of the lemon into the soup made the broth even more delicious! A taste of sour, spicy, and soft chicken welcomed my palate. The poached egg was perfect, and oozed out into the soup with a poke of my fork. The chicken cracklings gave a nice crispy exterior while swimming in the broth. I don’t eat much noodles, but these are out of this world in my opinion. Every component complimented each other very well. I have to say Bravo to the chefs that created this! You are truly ingenious!!! I left very full and satisfied. Pig and the lady, I love you!!! You make the BESTVIETNAMESEFOODEVER!!!

Pig and the Lady is one of my favorites. It’s nice that they still do the Farmer’s Market at the Blaisdell on Wednesdays. Their Chinatown location is always busy and sometimes I just want to get a grab and go Phở French Dip Banh Mi! The line does get long so go early if you can. If they have an event going on say that you’re there for the Farmer’s Market and the parking should be free!

We came all the way from NYC to try Andrew Le’s fine cuisine. The«Works» was fabulous, very innovative, rich and tasty. All the food ordered was so fresh and DELICIOUS. We loved the huge portions of Phở and French dip Banh Mi. I wish we could return again, definitely on our next visit back to HI. We would not hesitate to recommend this amazing place! We also thanked Andrew Le personally to compliment the chef; Andrew is so gracious, humble and thankful for our patronage. He is a class act!

The search for Oahu’s best Vietnamese is over! Pig and the Lady is now at Street Grinds at old Fishermans Wharf and it is soono(new word). Had Crab Udon Soup and the broth had that real Street flavor that I have only found in South East Asia. I’m going to be coming back for those sandwiches because those look amazing to.

Rally — as far as street food, pop ups, tent locations or just food that is cooked out in the open– you can do so much worse than the Pig and the Lady. If you haven’t been to the open market in front of Blasedail it is worth a shot at trying new stuff. They say that parking is free in the large parking area next to the concert hall since they are trying to promote the open market. So for anyone that has not tried Pig and Lady because it is downtown in the worse part of town that has limited to no parking– here is your chance. Also– here is a chance for you to see the food that other people order and see if you think you will like it — or not feel too bad about asking people«ohh what did you think about this or that?» maybe minuses It’s a pop up so seating is not there it can get crowded so be ready for a line it is a limited menu as they are a pop up so not as wide a selection you are at the mercy of the weather price may seem higher than normal to some plus side you can take it home and enjoy you can get for one family member and get something different for another the food is good they are trying to promote the restaurant so they are showing the best face possible to try to get more people in great staff that is friendly good organization that promotes social justice in our community With all the choices there are — the customer can get picker and pickier. Here though is a good Asian taste twist on some dishes that I would not have otherwise have thought would be good but turn out to be fantastic. It really is worth it to try a different kind of sandwich than you are used to and see what the hype is about because once you see what sauces are on it besides fish sauce you begin to realize that the taste buds just open up and burst with warmth. Again– sometimes it is worth it to listen to the hype to try out something new– You will be pleasantly surprised and who knows, maybe it will tempt you into going downtown to Chinatown to try the sit down restaurant.

This is for the Blaisdell Wednesday Night Market. Honestly, I’ve been holding back on trying Pig & Lady because I know I’ll love it. And it definitely lived up to all the hype. The girl working the front was amazing and super helpful. She thoroughly explained the specials and shared what she recommended. She was right on! I split both the Phở French Dip(best seller) and the chicken salad and I wish I didn’t because I wanted it all to myself! Not only are the workers professional, friendly and clean… They also set up tables for customers to dine with napkins, utensils and condiments. Amazing touch! Especially knowing the quality of the food, they don’t have to do all that because people will come regardless if they have to sit in the grass. When we asked how we clean/pick up after ourselves the worker said they would take care of it. Restaurant type service on a lawn in the great outdoors. LOVE! Thank you Pig & Lady, you don’t have to go the extra mile but I’m so happy you do!

The Pig and the Lady at the Blaisdell Farmers’ Market is a treat that area customers can enjoy in an open-air setting. They are not always at the farmers’ market, but when they are, it is a treat that my husband and I like to take advantage of. The farmers’ market takes place on Wednesdays, which is a great day to take a day off from cooking. Many Wednesdays, I contemplate what I am going to cook for dinner, then I remember that I don’t have to. I will usually grab some cash and walk over to the farmers’ market to pick up some local veggies while enjoying a nice meal or snack from The Pig and the Lady. The selection of items at the market is, of course, smaller than the restaurant, but they always have a good variety of bahn mi, phở, and other items. They have small items, if you just want to pick something up to eat while you browse the market. They also have heartier items if you are looking to have dinner at the market. The seating is… cozy. It’s a makeshift dining area where you will find yourself seated with strangers, which can be nice if you like to chat and meet new people. You also have the option to get your food to go. They provide you the proper bowls, paperware and plasticware. We will sometimes grab the food to go and eat it in one of the nearby grassy areas with our dog. My husband’s favorite dish is the phở ga and I will usually get a bahn mi, but we have tried a number of different menu items and we have loved all of them. I think the prices can get to be expensive, but it is worth what you are paying because it’s so good. Andrew’s food is definitely the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. Here is the thing, The Pig and the Lady now has a brick and mortar spot, right? Yup! The cool thing is that they are staying true to their roots by keeping their farmers’ market operations going. The farmers’ markets are how most people became familiar with Andrew’s cooking and he is keeping the crowds happy by remaining accessible at the same venues that have brought him so much success. We love it and I will continue to visit The Pig and the Lady at the market!
