Me and my Girlfriend have been staying here once a week for the past couple months and each time the customer service and family feel gets better and better, I engaged to my fiancé here and they went above and beyond and set us up with there best room wine and the works… we will never never stay with any other hotel as long as we stay in hawaii! The Equus family is part of our family! You will never stay anywhere more comfortable or friendly as this hotel!

I stayed here from 1÷24÷16−1÷29÷16 with my girlfriend on vacation. It’s a nice room, on the smaller side but really no complaints other than the pillows are very soft with no head support. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the street noise. We are on the 8th floor and it sounds like we’re laying down on the side of the road. It’s is noisy all day long with traffic. The blinds are also terrible so at 7 in the morning it’s like all the lights are on in the room, and then combine that with the busy traffic on the main road next to you, and you’re not sleeping in at all. The room is fine, friendly service, but just trying to save the light sleepers like me from making a mistake. I’d look elsewhere unless you can sleep through a war zone

Oh my God! There are Thieves among the staff. Friend of mine paid with cash upon check-​in (Big mistake flashing money). So after taking a shower, he comes out for a quick meal (1 hour or so) then when he comes back he notices that «someone» stole $ 2,000.00 from his bag (Another mistake, he should have put in the safe deposit). Anyways, even though my friend did some mistakes, absolutely nobody was supposed to be in his room since he just had check-​in. Thus, a person (s) from staff saw he had cash, and the minute he walked out for food someone with access control (which records were deleted from the system when police asked for) entered the unit to check his room and found his cash. HORRIBLE!!! This thing was orchestrated very likely by more than one person in the staff.

The Equus is a boutique hotel in Waikiki — central to the beach, shopping, and good restaurants. I like that it’s in Waikiki but not in the heart of all the hustle and bustle. The staff and guest services at the hotel are stellar! All the employees I’ve interacted with are professional, friendly, and welcoming, and go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. I also love the décor at the hotel — elegant and charming. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay in paradise, book at the Equus!

Amazing Boutique Hotel and Superstar Staff. This will be the 8th year, I will be staying at the Equus Hotel and Marina Towers. Best Location in Waikiki, because you are not in the heart of all the noise and you get the best of both worlds. You are a 2 minute bike ride or bus Ride or UBER from Downtown Waikiki and a short walk to the big Mall and Restaurants and State Park Beach.
I myself, like staying at the Marina Towers, but my first 4 years were in the Hotel and the service is probably better and more controlled there. Let’s start with Ownership and management. Mike, the owner is a great guy, with Integrity and he is ex UCLA Alumni, enough said.LOL. His GM, Mariah, also part of Ownership, is a sweet Gem, and is humble and not afraid to take control and get her hands dirty/​wet and put in some work. When I arrived last year, a few hours early, and the Bell Boy was at Lunch, this lady, got it in gear, Grabbed my 40 pound suitcases herself, and brought them next door for me. I will never forget that visual, LOL, as usually upper management delegates these duties, but not in this one case. Also, Mariah, is a fair lady, and within reason, she will listen to your concerns. Lucky to have her there, captain the ship.
Jackie of Housekeeping, is a great team player and very accommodating and on the ball. Kika operations Manager is also very nice and let me print my boarding pass in the office when I was leaving back to Santa Monica.
Rene Kahumoku, is an incredible member of the team, and is the guest Services Manager. She has been there all 8 years I have stayed there, and whether I need Wake Up Calls, Restaurant Advice, Island Sightseeing advice, Room Add on or upgrades, she is your go to Michael Jordan in the clutch. She is gracious, patient, kind and very sharp.
I would not hesitate for one second to recommend this Hotel and Towers, and I plan on calling them myself in the next few days to book my Mid Jan 2016 conference and mini vacation.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as a little anniversary/​staycation. It was one of the cheaper priced hotels so I was a bit worried that the lower price would reflect in the quality of the hotel and room, but it did not. It was a cozy little room with a nice big bed, a lanai that overlooked the street, and a modern-​style bathroom. The outside streets are a bit noisy, and the tv was a bit on the small side, but other than that, it was a great little place to get away for a night.

This hotel is has modest but has appealing décor. Although the accommodations are simple and small the service makes up for it. ALL employees go the extra mile, are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and local and tourist attractions. Would stay again! Customer service is A!

Very nice hotel down near Waikiki Beach. Been here twice, and would recommend it based on many things, but most of all the welcome of the staff and the desire to make the stay nice. It’s not a Four Seasons, doesn’t have an «in-​hotel» restaurant… but doesn’t try to be and isn’t in that price range. It’s simply a nice hotel, reasonably priced for Hawaii and the location, with a friendly, helpful, staff. Reminded me of places I’d stayed in San Francisco.

Great price & value compared to other hotels in the immediate area. When reviewing hotels or restaurants one should always remember their price point and base their experiences accordingly. (IMO)
We stayed during high season so the $ 500 savings (including parking at $ 25 vs $ 35 at other hotels) was a blessing as it went towards meals.
Staff (including maintenance & housekeeping) always greeted us as we walked to room.
Cleanliness: Yes
Elevator: not an issue (we took stairs to burn off all the vacation food)
Location: not bad as you are near mall as well as main strip
Noise level: you can hear street noise below
Overall: GREAT FIND!

I made a reservation for the ‘Marina Tower Waikiki’ hotel, which turned out to be the Equus. Very loud (street noise), at a very indifferent location, and not worthy for its price. Room cleaning at bare minimum every day (they didn’t even make my bed today) and overall not the calming, friendly, hospitable Hawaii experience I expected. I couldn’t even open the blinds in my room (no curtains) as they were facing at apartments, so there was no privacy. Very claustrophobic and dark. Furthermore, there are no coffee shops or restaurants in or around the hotel, so one would have to go out of one’s way even for breakfast. Certainly not worth the price; I was paying a little more than $ 200/​night through
, and that’s before taxes. A definite no.

NO LAUNDRY ROOM. Today had to do laundry after staying here for 7 days, and have a few more to go. Went to the front desk and asked them if they had a laundry room, no laundry room available, and was sent down to a «Laundry Mat» underneath Bufflo Wild Wings a block away. When I arrived at the «Laundry Mat», found out it is a part of Snappers Sports Bar.
The parking situation is a joke. There are roughly 10 parking spots attached to the hotel, which are very tight (especially for the rental I had: GMC Acadia).
Now the room was something else. The bed was rickety, thought it was gonna break each time got into bed. There was a sliding door out to the balcony which didn’t want to close. More than once I woke up in the morning and found cockroaches climbing all over my hygine items.

I stayed at two other non-​resort hotels in a similar price range for an extended time frame, The Equus was by far twice as good as the other hotels I stayed at. In fact, I wish I would have stayed here first.
The staff is super friendly and helpful no matter the time of day. It was the kind of service that keeps you coming back to a place because they treat you like family.
The room was absolutely CLEAN, to include the modern bathroom and shower, and the beds comfortable. The clean modern bathroom was a relief as the other hotels I stayed at failed In this aspect royally.
The location is a short walk to the Ala Moana shopping Center/​food court as well as many restaraunts and Ala Moana Beach park.
The Equus had the Aloha and I absolutely will stay here again if needing to stay in the area again.

We recently stayed at The Equus Hotel in Waikiki and so excited we did. The customer service, including Queenie, Kaori and Trevor were exceptional and not to mention the entire staff. Very helpful with introducing us to the hotel for the first time and sharing their aloha wherever we were. The décor and accommodations were equivalent to many of the major hotels in Waikiki and for a much better price. Our room was clean, smelled great and had a balcony so we could enjoy the Hawaii breeze. Definitely we’ll be staying again at The Equus.

I was really impressed with the personal attention. The hotel staff was always really attentive and said hello. The small hotel personal family feeling with a nice cozy room. The interior looks modern like bathrooms, sink and amenities like coffee machine.
Very convenient location. Near restaurants, some 24 hours, and Hawaii’s largest shopping center. Priced was very fair, would highly recommend for those who don’t need to spend money for pools, gym. But good old fashion service, service, service.
Computer and printer is also free to use.
Give this place a try.

Stayed here 2x last time last night. They didn’t post a $ 100deposit for room in writing anywhere and told me «it’s in case anything happens». So here’s my take– room is ok. Parking is inconvenient if ur gonna drive into Waikiki. The lobby, stairs and elevator to rooms do not even have standard room key security after dark so Anyone can walk in. Maybe this is ok, but I go to a spiritual center nearby and there are more crimes going on in the nearby blocks than normal. So, if anything happens?! They need to improve basic security measures and don’t have any desirable view for a hotel charging their room rate – like across the street Oceanside. The bed was comfy since Ramada rates have skyrocketed for some reason. Anyway both places aren’t in a good luxury place for Waikiki enjoyment. Points aside.

Budget hotel. Great place to stay if you just need a place to shower and sleep.
Pros: super soft comfy bed, great cold a.c., rate is reasonable
Cons: Super noisy street noise if on lower floor, no view.
I did have a grumpy front desk lady on my second stay there but the valet boys are super nice and helpful. Will I stay here again? Maybe. Depends on rate and type of trip.

Stayed in Hawaii this past August for one week, and through Priceline we booked the Equus in our package. It’s not the Hilton or anything, but it is reasonably priced and decent and clean!. for the most part. My boyfriend and I got a queen sized bed room and though it had a balcony, it was very small. My sister and brother and law ended up getting two full sized bed and their room was very spacious! So, I recommend getting the room with no balcony and double beds for more space.
I would’ve rated this hotel 4 stars, but we had a problem. a bug problem in our room. The first 3 nights, we saw little bugs all over the counter top and on the bathroom sink. It was disgusting! So I spoke to the manager and we changed rooms. Much more pleased about that. My sister never encountered any bug problems in her room though.
The good part is that I spoke to Rene about the issue, and she refunded us one night of our stay. She was a sweetheart. Also, parking is $ 25 a night but free ins and outs.
Walking distance to a few restaurants and down the street from an ABC store. Though next time, I might book a hotel closer to the Waikiki beach so I can just walk there because we had to drive to the beach from this hotel.
Besides the bugs, I had an enjoyable stay!
