The Attic Salon

I heard a lot of good things from friends who had already been to The Attic, so I decided to give it a try. After work, I went with a friend get my hair cut.
Before we began, I let Kat know that I wanted something to give my head an overall nice shape and compliment my hairline but at the same time, I really didn’t know what would be a good style to fit that. I can’t even figure out what to do with my hair sometimes so at that point, I left my life in her hands, and by life I meant my hair.
Kat has great insight and ideas that perfectly worked with the preference I was going with. I felt comfortable with what she had in mind for my hairstyle. She thinned my hair at the sides and tapered down the back in order to give my head a shape that frames my face, while still leaving a good length of hair at the top of my head and at my bangs so I could have some play when I styled it later. At the end, she added some hairspray and molded the top porton of my head and bangs to give me a final look.
The end look was amazing! She really knew how to bring out my facial features as a guy and still be able to put attention on my hair style. The sides and back of my head were nicely trimmed to show a nice, clean look that I could pass as conservative when I wanted to but with enough hair length to work with at the top and bangs so I could put some flare on when I want to go on a night out with friends. I plan on coming here from now on for my haircuts. Definitely found my go to place!

Kat is awesome! her salon is super cute. its in a great location too which is close to where i live, and right across the street from my favorite taco shop on King St. i was the only client there which was nice. she is super sweet and fun to talk to! she gave me the best haircut ive had since moving out here 3 years ago. she keeps up with all the latest trends and is good at what she does. she is also very thorough and makes sure that there are no weird pieces if hair sticking out, or too long/​too short.
her prices are very reasonable. she has a little board of the prices hanging on the wall and i forgot to take a pic. lol. the whole experience was great, and i cant wait to go back to get my bangs trimmed/​haircut again!

I don’t know why I haven’t posted a review yet… Kat is so fab! I’ve been there at least 3 or 4 times already. Some hair stylists are all about doing whatever they want or just copying exactly what the client wants without consideration to face shape etc… Kat listens and is super friendly. She works with you so you end up with a cut that matches you.
I went there this weekend to get my hair colored. I was really excited as I’ve never gotten color before and I knew I wanted color but as to the specifics… well…I had no idea what I wanted. Kat listened to my rambling and we ended up going with sort of an intro to color for me instead of going all crazy for my first time. Working in an 8 – 5 office job means no crazy colors for me which I was disappointed about but Kat chose a red-​purple hue that satisfied my color needs while keeping it office friendly.
I’ve always felt that finding THE perfect hairstylist was such a hard thing but Kat delivers. I’m the type of person that goes in for a cut knowing I want to change things up but is very vague on details. Kat is spot on with the trends and is super personable and patient. I’m definitely making The Attic Salon my go to place for cuts and color.
P. S. The products Kat uses smell uh-​mazing!

Go down South King Street & turn left onto Akala Lane, & there will be 4 parking stalls immediately to your right. Then go into the small doorway where it says «Off the Wall» & up the stairs w/​all the mirrors. Go even further down the hallway & you’ll find it. Don’t get lost like I did…
First off, it’s literally the cutest little salon you will ever see, ever.
Secondly, I went to Supercuts literally the day before & I hated what they did. Got an appointment the very next morning & Kat fixed my wack haircut. She even asked how I wanted to style my hair at the end when EVERY single place I’ve ever went to just straightens my already straight hair without asking. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ will be back when my hair grows out again. Thank you!

I get the most awesome haircuts from Kat. The cost is just a little bit more than Super Cuts and Fantastic Sam’s but the quality is much, much better. Kat is also just really nice to talk to, she’s very personable and makes you feel very welcome.

EDIT *** This is (I think) the 4−5^th time I’m seeing Kat and it just gets better and better! :-)
So I just saw Kat today and I honestly had ZERO idea of what I wanted. I didn’t have any reference pictures, or any true solid idea in my head. I had emailed Kat about wanting purple and grey in my hair and that I wanted to tone my hair since my hair gets brassy very fast.
Anyways, I had an appointment today at 11AM and I was so excited to see her! She’s always so welcoming, and she really makes you feel like you’re at home. Offering various selections of teas she gets from San Francisco, or Keurig selections, or even just water if you’re feeling parched.
When I got there, I sat down and I told Kat that I didn’t know how I wanted my fun colors to be put in my hair. Highlights? Ombré? Balayage? Or just random streaks running thru my hair (peekaboo type of look). I had nothing. So I told her that I trusted her judgement and to just do whatever she believed would look best. (YES I trust her that much with my hair)
And off she went to work! She toned my hair down, it was a really fast process, probably only a few minutes (after she applied it), and OMG my hair looked gorgeous even with the toner in it. I love, love LOVE the ashy look and Kat delivers.
After that, she told me that she could either do highlights or do a balayage of the purple and grey. We decided on the balayage and joked about how my purple/​grey balayage is going to be within my blonde balayage. A balayage, within a balayage. (Inception reference lol) ANYWAYS, I told her to do what she wanted, and then we went to the brightness of the purple that I wanted. We discussed a bit, and I knew I wanted my purple to be bright but not crazy overwhelming. So she went ahead and mixed the purple color with a lavender in order to soften it a bit. Then, after the grey was mixed up, she went ahead and started the balayage process.

I was a bit nervous to be honest, because I really didn’t have any idea of what it would look like. But when it was done? WOW! I couldn’t believe my hair was actually my hair! Seriously, the purple and the grey melded so well together, and it was so ashed out, everything was in the same color family. I am SOOOO happy I trusted Kat and her judgements, and she seriously made my confidence boost 100x normal.
All in all, I just wanted to say that if you’re looking for someone who is sweet, friendly, the cutest mom EVER, knows her stuff, and can deliver it too? Go to Kat! She can literally do anything. Haircuts (she cut my hair the first time I went to her), toning, balayage, ombré, fun colors, pastels? Ugh, just, I can’t even describe how happy I am that I found her. She has an awesome imagination and she really has an eye for what she does.

I had an AWESOME cut by Kat this morning. Not knowing what to expect from this first visit, I have to say she is very confident in her cutting techniques and a perfectionist in her service by taking the extra mile that you rarely see these days in businesses. Plus, you get a free drink (coffee or tea) and two hair washes for you people who don’t want hair all over your car.
Overall, great service at a reasonable price (it’s not outrageous, let me put it that way) and a good conversationalist for you talkative people. This place is quite under the radar similar to the one that I used to go to, but I can see this place gaining more customers over time.

I’m happy I finally found a great hair stylist, and nearby! Owner/​stylist, Kat B. Stays up to date on hair trends in L.A. Her style and great knowledge of hair is what brings me back. I can ask her what color and cut to match my skin tone and trust in her confidence and consultation. The end result… its always rocking!

Got my haircut today at the attic. My wife had gotten her hair cut here a couple times and has gotten her hair highlighted too. She has always loved the service and the prices were always reasonable. She mentioned that they cut men’s hair too and that I should try it out. I usually just go to supercuts but the wife talked me into giving it a try.
It turned out to be an awesome experience. Complimentary beverages, very nice décor and It felt very comfy. Kathy (my hairstylist/​owner) knew exactly what I was talking about when I explained to her how I like my haircut. She was fast, which is a hugh plus for me. My hair was exactly the way I wanted. I have definitely found my new barber.
