Sun Splash Tans

Everyone is so friendly and most of the time I can get right in! The beds are always clean and they’re always replacing the bulbs so I always leave with a good tan.

The following reasons determined my rating for Sun Splash:
THUMBS DOWN — For the TERRIBLE, headache of a parking lot… Not entirely their fault; yet still, they do assume some responsibility, as when choosing a location, parking availability for client is something (a big something, at that) for the business to consider.
THUMBS UP — For the very welcoming, friendly and informative staff. Nothing turns me away more than the vibe of a sales person just tryin to sell sell sell, with no regard for client needs or wants; I did not get this vibe upon first impression here. I was well– informed, my questions were answered (and truthfully, as a former salon assistant manager, I actually already knew some of the answers and was seeing if they’d be truthful or not — they were)
THUMBS DOWN — For pretty pricey tanning bed packages. KUDOS for the variety of beds and packages, but a little pricier than they should be… HOWEVER…
THUMBS UP — For well priced SPRAY TANS… The least expensive I’ve found in the area with comparable quality… And for someone who typically tans at the beach, but sometimes just wants a darker, faster SPRAY — this is beneficial.
Overall, because of the ups and downs, the average for me is a 3… If they create some sort of «locals» discount or say, «Buy 4 sprays, get the 5^th FREE» like some other places in the area offer, I may be inclined to raise my star rating… But for now anyway, it will remain as is. :)

I have been fair skinned all my life and I also have very sensitive skin that refuses to change color, unless of course than color is red (ouch). Living in Hawaii, the majority of people would say, you can get sun for free why would you go tanning? It’s not the same 1. I absolutely cannot stand the sight and feel of sand, it makes me itchy. 2. I have many issues with revealing anything more than 2 inches of my torso in public. 3. I don’t like tan lines. Therefore, sunsplash tans has been my go-​to and solves all my issues that comes with having a beautiful glow! The staff members are so nice and friendly and it’s a very relaxing environment. They even have cute little stickers to let you see how much of a tan you’ve gotten.
I personally recommend moisturizing and using a bronzer to enhance your tan,
and to exfoliate at home prior to your tan. I use the level 5 which is about 12 minutes long and is a stand-​up tan. After your tan there are towels/​wipes and even deodorant for you to use.
Parking is fairly easy, right in the lot that is shared with jamba juice and starbucks.
All in all, i love it here and I won’t go anywhere else.

Awesome service! Was hesitant at first to come but this is my first men’s physique show and I really need to tan but don’t have hours to spend at the beach. Cassandra explained everything really well and made the experience great. I now feel comfortable coming here and I know my tan is going to be ready for the show. Definitely recommend this place if you are also prepping for a show!

Always clean friendly and fully trained profesional experts. Always able to answer my questions. Only drawback is they dont have the lotions i like but hey thats what amazon is for.

Good place to tan. Staff is friendly. Equipment appears well maintained. Location is easy to find. One big downside is parking is terrible. Prices are more than I’m used to but they do have some good specials and packages.

BEST. SPRAY. TAN. EVER. I am so addicted that I purchased a membership plan and go once a week just about! The bronze color is really natural looking IMHO. I used to get the «chocolate» color– now I go for «dark chocolate” — seems to go better with my skin tone. I recommend trying both to see what works for you.
The girls who work here are all awesome, Jenna (the manager), Shayna, Brittney– superior customer service and just sweet girls who do a good job and are very thorough. I always fee like they actually CARE– like a lot– about how their works turns out. Tips for spray– — exfoliate a TON the day before, plan your tan so you have 6 solid hours of «dry time» — this means you can’t get wet AT ALL and you will have a sticky bronzer on you that can wipe off on to fabrics and also just look kinda awful. So I usually get a spray after work then go straight home and don’t do much on tan night!

I got a spray tan on Oct 4. I originally called to make an appointment at the Keeaumoku location (I had a spray tan there in Oct 2012, it was ok, probably a 3.5 star job). The lady on the phone recommended I go to the other location because the sprayer at that location didn’t do such a great job. My brother-​in-​law got in the evening of the 4^th but I still ditched him to go get the spray tan. I don’t remember the name of the gal that did the tan but she talked a good game. I asked her to do the spray tan as dark as she could get it.
Well…it’s always hard to tell the day you get the spray what the color/​how it’s going to turn out. It wasn’t until the next day that I could see what a bad job she did. Not only was it lighter than the spray I got at the Keeaumoku location the previous year, it was VERY uneven. I even had blotching on my neck.
Now, they do have a policy that if you’re not happy with the spray you can come in the next day and get a re-​touch/​do. Jordan called me the following day and left a message asking how it turned out. First, if the company is calling the following day that may be an indicator that their spray tans don’t come out very good. Second, I had a Dr. appointment on the 5^th, a non-​refundable massage, and the rest of my family was flying early in the evening. I wasn’t going to ditch my entire family AGAIN to get this fixed.
I didn’t even bother calling Jordan, I had absolutely no time to go across town to get it fixed. I can’t believe that Oahu doesn’t have a better place for spray tans. I am active duty military and have never had problems with spray tans in the various states I“ve lived like I have had here. Bummer I that I paid extra to have the special ph stuff in the formula.

I miss this tanning salon! One would think WHY? Why tan in Hawaii? Well, the reason for this is because its not incredibly green here because it never rains. The rainy season brings that pale glow to the skin that is NOT acceptable! The beds and other areas are always clean, the bulbs up to date and in perfect working order, and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. The parking is tight but, if you’re in and out its ok and if you don’t know where it is you can lose this place which is off the main road and hidden in the back side strip mall. The prices are average for Hawaii but pricey for anyone from the mainland. A definite recommendation!

The staff is always so nice and most are knowledgable.
However, one the reason I am unable to give it a 5 star? One girl told me I wouldn’t have a problem sitting in a Level 3 for the entire time. Bad news. Burned like a piece of meat on high heat, which was horrendous considering I bought a weekly unlimited… and this was day 2.
Couldn’t utilize my package so I wasted my money.

4÷12÷12: Used my credit to purchase stand-​up tanning package. When I went in the credit was under my name/​account on the computer, so I needn’t mention it. The employee was very nice & friendly– as they usually are. They do get busy, so might want to check if bed is open before going. I guess a lot more people tan then I thought. Right Right, myself included! I’ve bumped them up to 4-​stars for rectifying prior poor-​customer-​service-​experience (spary tan) because that’s what 4-​stars-​ratings are about! ;)
Update: As of 3÷7÷12: The owner, «Marc» emailed me in regards to my bad tan experience, & offered to credit «the value of the spray-​tan» towards future service. I think that is a nice gesture & taking the right step towards great Customer Service. So I’ve bumped my 1-​star to 3-stars…keep you posted on next service… =)

2÷21÷12: I have been going here for «touch ups» from bikini lines from sun here and there over the years. And let’s state the obvious: it’s almost 85degrees year round. I can’t imagine people are THAT desperate to have a perfect tan when they hit the beach. This last 1 – 2 years the times I have been, the staff is usually very friendly and puts the customer first. (-) However, I wanted to try the «spray tan» and the girl who did it (don’t know her name) made me SO uncomfortable doing it (hello I’m the half-​naked one!), and gave me such horrible lines!!! It was so uneven, and sucked ALL moisture out of my skin for weeks! She had been spraying for a fitness competition that day she’d said, and had all the dye on the floor *ew*; she told me it would be so easy to get off my feet… such a LIE… it took weeks before I could get the icky brown junk off my hands and feet!!! It was SO *embarrassing* to go in public!
BUT, today I saw the deal to purchase the $ 30 certificate for $ 20, and *duh* didn’t read the fine-​print until after I purchased… for «new customers only». Once I realized I called them asking if I might be able to use anyway… a definite NO came from «Mark» after he pulled up my account. Even though today, with the certificate, I’d be purchasing an «unlimited» package for $ 100+ dollars. So that’s 30% off! Boo. I get it, I get it. It is my bad, but it was a bummer after he reviewed my account… he said I didn’t came «often enough»…wait a second… isn’t the whole point to try to get you to come more??? So if I’d gone regularly it should have been a «no», but the rare times over the years, isn’t «enough»…how the heck does that make sense?! I’m not even sure I can get a refund now. =(So 1-​star for them for making me feel like crap and reviewing my account like I’m a «bad» customer!

Ok… I admit, I’m a faker. Haha… but seriously, I love the staff at Sun Splash and I’ve been going on and off for years. But if you are looking to cut down on lying out for hours upon hours for a golden tan… then look no further than Sun Splash Tans. When I’m getting ready for a special event or feeling kind of pale, I just buy one of the Buy 7 get 4 free plans and I’m good to go. Pricing is great and all the beds are awesome. You really can’t go wrong.

Yes, I live in Hawaii and I occasionally go to a tanning salon. I don’t go as much as I did when I lived in New Jersey (20 yrs). Yeh, I admit– I was very «Jersey Shore-​like».
I go to this salon when it’s been months since I have been to the beach, I am pale, and don’t want to burn. I am Caucasian/​Japanese, so I am pretty pale.
I bought the buy 3/​get 1 free package for $ 49.31/Level 2. I also buy the least expensive lotion, as it seems to condition your skin and hold the tan longer. I like the standup tanner best because it is a quick 10-​mins and you don’t get wierd spots on your butt, like with the liedown beds. I go 3 days in a row and then the last one the following week. I have my tan back in no time, without the burn that I would have gotten if I just went straight into a beach/​hiking day.
Not sure if a light bulb tan or chemicals absorbed into your skin (spray tan) is worse, but I don’t care~ I look good tan. :)
This is a good tanning salon– people are nice, it’s clean, prices are reasonable, and you can get in and out quickly!

I came here to get a spray tan before the Navy Ball so my skin didn’t glow along with my lime green dress. I was a little worried I would be orange (my friend kept singing the oompa loompa song) but I didn’t! (yay!). The lady working there was very knowledgeable and professional. She applied my tan quickly and efficiently.
The only thing I didn’t like was that finding it was a little annoying if you aren’t very familiar with the areas but I had eventually found it obviously. Also, in the light of the ballroom, I looked orange in my pictures :(I looked fine everywhere else though and I looked fantastic when I went to Cirque du Soleil the next day: D

I grew up in Hawaii but live full time in SF where I basically stay covered up and get no sun. This is nice for my super pale skin (because I love that look) but gets rather annoying when I come back to Hawaii and have to stay covered with long sleeves and a hat constantly.
I’ve used tanning beds before at sunsplash with pretty good results. Being super pale, the beds always burned me even on the lowest level and this discouraged me from continuing.
Yesterday, however, I decided to go in and try a spray tan. What a fun decision! Tracy (staff memeber) was awesome – very professional and nice. She made me feel comfortable and explained everything I needed to know about sunless tanning. She even called me the next morning so see if I was satisfied with the results. It was a bit expensive, but I think paying for a staff member to spray you down (instead of a machine) is worth the extra cash, no streaks here.
Last night I looked like Aunt Jemima, because you have to leave on an external bronzer as the tan sets in for 6 hours, but this morning I just look super naturally tan without all the freckles, I love it! Definitely going back in a few weeks :)

I’m from New York so when I go to a tanning salon I’m used to a guy with orange skin and hair spiked up with a tub of gel (think jersey shore) manning the register. I knew that I was far away from home but this is a different world!
Tracy, the only employee working there that night was such a sweetheart. She is so friendly and really knows her stuff. My BF and I both came in to get spray downs and it was the first time for the both of us. She was very professional and made us feel comfortable bout being nekked in front of her.
This place is BUSY! We had to wait about 20 minutes to get started, but it was totally worth the wait.
