History

Established in 2014.

What began as a part time job working for a pre-​existing mobile DJ company, Toshi quickly transformed his DJ-​ing hobby and passion for music into a well rounded and admirable mobile DJ business. Toshi quickly determined that his ultimate goal would be to not only make a living out of what he loves to do, but to do so in a way that would also provide high quality service to customers looking to have energetic and memorable events. In an entertainment world where a large number of DJs and Emcees are seeking to be the center of attention themselves, Toshi and the Spectrum team know that its your party, your celebration, and that you should be the main highlight of the event. Thus Spectrum DJs was born alongside the company motto — «Its all about you».

In a world that is constantly evolving it was important for Toshi to establish a company that was capable of doing things the right way, and capable of delivering new technologies and the best of services to their clients.

Toshi is one of the most energetic people that you will ever meet, and he is a people person he is always looking to please. After graduating from UH Manoa with a degree in biology, Toshi quickly turned his efforts to building a well rounded DJ business. Outside of DJing, Toshi enjoys surfing and dancing hula.

Thank you for making our school high dance a success!
Toshi is wonderful to work with, from first contact to post-​event. Right from the start he was extremely knowledgable and professional, learning about our event, needs, and school culture. Based on our venue and attendance, he was able to determine what we absolutely needed, and then created different packages around that, all while keeping our budget in mind.
At the event I was pretty blown away by their setup. The lighting was unlike anything I’ve seen, enhanced by someone dedicated to matching the lights with the music. I was definitely impressed by the quality of service, as were the students, who had a great evening. I even got to witness one student coming up to Toshi to thank him for a great evening and expressing that he hoped to see Toshi DJ future dances!
I would absolutely recommend Toshi to anyone looking for a DJ!

THE TOTAL PACKAGE!!! We hired Toshi for our wedding and he by far exceeded all of our expectations! Everything he provided was top quality. The DJing, audio/​visual, and beautiful UP LIGHTING was perfect!
From the pre-​planning to the wedding day, Toshi was very easy to work with. Very professional, punctual, friendly, and very reasonably priced (worked well within our budget). He went through our wedding program perfectly and knew how to interact with the crowd like a pro.
We would highly recommend Toshi for any type of event!

Need a DJ? Look no further! We hired Toshi to DJ our high school dance. What an incredible evening he gave to them! From the moment we contacted him until he packed up and left, Toshi was professional, friendly, and dedicated to making sure our students had a night to remember. One thing that impressed me the most about Toshi was his respect in working with our students. At our meetings he truly listened to their ideas and helped them navigate the logistics, while offering his expertise to ensure that the event went seamlessly.
I’ve been at many weddings (including my own), and I have NEVER seen people up and dancing as fast as they were that night I also couldn’t get over the sheer number of students dancing at one time. The light and sound package he created for us was extremely generous for our budget. Personally, I thought, the lighting effects were the best I have ever seen. The feedback we have gotten back from the students who attended the ball has been unanimous: «Hire, DJ Toshi again!» We look forward to using him for future events. Thank you, Toshi!

First, Alex and I are thrilled to be your very first gay-​wedding. We were looking for someone cool and comfortable performing at our wedding, and you were delightful and thoughtful to work with. Also, major credits to you for having fun hosting and emceeing with our famous hostest-​with-​the-​mostest drag queen performer Estee Longah.
Second, you beat-​matched 2 very different songs (the Navy anthem vs. a Jess Glynne dance song) into a seamless transition from our entrance into our first-​dance. That was awesome. The best part, you capped off the evening with that same Jess Glynne song as the last-​dance. You used our theme song and made it memorable.
Third, you were able to accommodate all those requests from our friends and guests, hula dancers, and Estee Longah. You had prepared an awesome playlist based on our song preferences, yet you still played all of our requests from the 80s-​90s-​00s. (Yes, we grew up with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys!)
Toshi, thank you again for being our DJ. We will highly recommend and refer future clients to you.

I was planning a wedding for my good friends in HNL and needed a DJ that will work with our budget. A friend refer me to DJ Toshi and I set up a phone meeting with him from SF. First impression over the phone… Toshi was awesome, full of suggestions, and most important… He was listening and acknowledge me and my client’s need and was willing to work with our budget.
Day of wedding. Of course just like most wedding, the set up time was limited. Toshi was prompt and on time for set up and tear down. He knew that we were on a super tight budget and could not add on any extra special lighting feature. Toshi when above and beyond comp. the extra special lighting feature at no cost. We had an Emcee that work side by side with Toshi but for those of you who does not have an emcee… Toshi is the man for it!!! The sound systems are high quality and the extra special lighting feature absolutely make a big different. At the end of the wedding, everyone walk away with smile on their faces.
For anyone who is looking for a DJ for wedding or birthday parties… You need to get Spectrum Entertainment. Spectrum Entertainment is my go to for music entertainment when I plan the next wedding or parties in Hawaii. I can’t wait to work with the talented Toshi again. Finding the perfect DJ for a middle school dance can be tricky. But we lucked out when we hired Spectrum DJ’s! He transformed the school cafeteria into an amazing venue for our social. From the start, Toshi was professional and efficient in communication and made planning a pretty stress-​free experience. Best of all, seeing the energetic interaction between the DJ’s and the kids was fabulous. So not only does Toshi provide 5-​start services for formal events like weddings and proms, he is able to zone in on the needs of his targeted audience and do his magic. The lighting and sound system he provides is top-​notch and made all the difference in the world. DJ Toshi was amazing from the get-​go :) I was looking for a DJ for my wedding and found Toshi through one of my friends! So I setup a meeting with him and it was awesome. He was very helpful and easy going through our entire meeting. He gave me a general program outline of how the wedding night could flow (which was soooo helpful) and how the music choices dictated the mood of the evening. He definitely knew what he was talking about and thus helped me create my first wedding timeline!
DJ Toshi’s equipment is top-​notch! There are different packages to choose from, usually based on size of venue and number of guests. And he also has lighting effects should a couple want to have that choice as well!
The day of our wedding was a whirlwind… when my husband and I finally arrived to the reception venue after taking our pictures with our photographer, the music and uplighting was just ON POINT. What I had asked for and what was delivered was way beyond our expectations… and you could see it in the way our guests were enjoying themselves :) And DJ Toshi is a GREAT EMCEE!!! If you ever are scrambling do not worry! He is a natural with the mike and gets everyone up and excited when necessary! He also was so helpful in pointing out where guests could find the restroom, when dinner was ready to be served, and kept the overall mood positive :)

I just got married in August and was in a bind looking for a great DJ but for a reasonable price. I had a friend recommend Spectrum DJs and from the first phone call I made to Toshi from spectrum DJs, I knew I was in great hands. He spent hours making sure all of the details for my event were addressed and was meticulous to detail. More importantly he was friendly, accommodating and his team had amazing energy, superb lighting and awesome MC skills! Toshi was a life saver! I had no other options after my original plan for up-​lighting fell through. I literally had less than 24 hours til our event to find stage lighting. He had no problem with the last minute booking, and made me feel comfortable enough that i didn’t have to look any further for up-​lighting options. He was so helpful when I needed his advice on the size of lighting needed and wanted to meet my expectations the best that he could! We were soooo amazed at how much difference up-​lighting made! The color options were amazingly beautiful! And i looooooved the fact the the lights had a ‘sound’ setting, when the band played, the lights flashed according to the beat of the music! THAT was a hit! I would definitely recommend Toshi and his company to anyone i know that might need his services. His price was very reasonable and fit my last minute budget. Thank you again Toshi!!! I’ve now attended and helped plan two events (birthday parties) where Toshi (the owner of Spectrum DJ’s) provided the lighting, sound system, DJ and emcee services.
The lighting and sound systems are of top quality, and his lights are great for all types of parties. He provides both uplighting (commonly used at weddings), along with moving spotlights that are great for dance parties or concerts. The sound system blasts crisp and clear music, and the sound system is great for both indoor or outdoor events.
Toshi is a great DJ and can mix any kind of music that you want for a party. The best part about working with Toshi is that he is very helpful and eager to help you achieve whatever you want for the event. He pays close attention to detail, and he is always happy to modify anything you want in order to make you happy with the lighting or music. Toshi is also a very entertaining emcee, as he is very friendly and personable but doesn’t overdo it on the talking. He’s good at getting people to dance and keeping the party environment lively and fun.
Toshi is also very professional from the moment you contact him (even if it’s just inquiring about prices/​services), and he’s easy to reach through phone or email. He’ll always make sure everything is planned out before the event, and he will usually meet with you at some point before the event to go over the timeline of the event and to discuss what you want in terms of lighting/​sound/​music.
I would highly recommend Spectrum DJ’s for anyone looking for a company to provide top quality lighting/​sound/​DJs/​emcees for an event.

I found Toshi through a friend’s recommendation… and I’m SO glad I decided to use his services in August 2014 for my wedding.
Unlike many other vendors in the Honolulu wedding scene, Toshi was on point with communication — he was available by email, text, phone. He was professional, had a formal contract, and was readily available to discuss things. What a relief to have someone dependable for our big day!
I really hadn’t put a lot of thought into our music and program until the last minute, but Toshi totally helped me figure it all out. He was so accommodating and took the time to meet right before the wedding to go over the music selection and program. He also came super early to set up and make sure everything was perfect.
Not only is he a great DJ, but he’s an AWESOME emcee (skills which I personally think he should advertise more!) Our reception flowed nicekly thanks to him — he was perfect at announcing everything in our program (toasts, dancing, cake cutting, hula, etc) while keeping the guests’ attention. Best of all, he speaks with the right amount of enthusiasm and fun and was never cheesy (i’ve been to weddings with cheesy emcees and really wanted to avoid that.)
Toshi really is your all-​in-​one entertainment solution for events… he provided music, lighting and emcee services. I was so glad I didn’t have to worry about these details.
My guests still talk about how fun our wedding was… and I give credit to Toshi. As the other reviewer mentioned, he can get the party started and keep it going. I can’t wait to have another big event so I can hire him! :)

Toshi was an amazing DJ at our wedding. He was reasonably priced, professional, & helpful when we couldn’t decide what song to choose for our cake cutting. He was able to get everyone up & dancing. Even our more seasoned (dare I say «older») relatives were up on the dance floor! He was also the DJ at our work Christmas party! On both occasions he did an awesome job!
