Siberian Husky Club of Hawaii Speciality Show

Do you follow dog shows? This show is one of many shows that occur in Hawaii throughout the year. Unlike the «all breed» shows, the Siberian Husky Club of Hawaii Specialty Show is a specialty show just for Siberian Huskies. This «conformation show» show is open to all intact, American Kennel Club (AKC) registered Siberian Huskies.
The show occurs once per year in the fall (usually on a Sunday afternoon in October) at Thomas Square Park. This can be a good afternoon diversion to stop and watch a conformation show. More information on dog show schedules can be found at

Dog shows can be a bit confusing, so don’t be afraid to ask someone nearby what is going on. Just don’t bother someone that is busy grooming their dog or getting ready to take their dog in the ring.
One thing that some people expect is tricks and obedience. Conformation shows are not about tricks or dogs running obstacle courses (that is obedience and rally shows.) Confirmation is the process of the judge evaluating which dog best represents their breed’s standards.
The shows are nice since they are usually in the shade and the people (handles, breeders, and dog owners) are all nice and happy to answer questions.
Parking in this neighborhood can be a bit tough, but you can often park at the Blaisdell for free if there are no events going on.
