I must say, idea: 5 star, execution 0 stars… We’ll toss a coin and give it a three. «You say you want a revolution, well, you know, we all want to change the world…» Only trouble makers change the world… Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther, George Washington, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King… all were considered trouble makers by the status quo. These are the ones that succeeded, many others have failed. If you can’t see the comparison here, you are either to young to remember or to stupid to understand, either way the best thing to do is step aside and keep your mouth shut. Looking foolish while trying to look cool reeks of the effort, and it’s a shame. Putting others ideas down is what keeps us as a people from moving forward, just because you don’t agree with someones hopes and dreams doesn’t give you the right to shut them up. Do you or have you ever read the teachings of Jesus, or Gandhi for that matter? Do you think they lived in uptown high rises and drove imported sports cars? Do you believe a mans worth is measured by the size of his bank account? If so, you got a lot to learn, and I’m not the one to teach you, I haven’t got and wouldn’t waste the time. Jesus stood by his beliefs, even when his ‘crew’ ran from him, I, this is my personnel opinion, believe the best of his bunch hung himself. But, I say this, our constitution guarantees freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech, it doesn’t guarantee freedom from eye sores or unpleasant odors. Get used to it, or not, I really don’t care. So even though you are gone… for now… I salute your right to protest, I don’t care the reason or the method, I’m just glad you’ve got the right.

One of the characteristics of protest is that it’s a bit disquieting, but this encampment has managed to survive more than 30 raids by police without missing a night since it began on November 5, 2011. It is in fact the longest running encampment of the Occupy Movement in the world. It has managed to gain enough local support to supply the encampment with color coded and uniform tents, and to maintain a Sunday afternoon Food Not Bombs continuously. They continue to be at the forefront of protests against the corporate giants of GMO food production, and have formed local alliances with Hawaiian Sovereignty groups. What do the two have in common? The view that the government does not truly represent the will of the people. That and they have very cool events(like Off Art After Dark) every now and then. It takes some perseverance and creativity so sustain such a hard core political statement. Five stars for that!

Occupy Honolulu, driving by Beretania or Ward you cant help but see the eye sore you have built, and for what? What exactly is it that you are protesting? The banking system? The monopoly that has been established and force fed down our throats slowly but surely? What productive measures have you taken to impede such an oppressive act other than what is equivalent to a pouting 4 year old. Hello you are a joke. Dont dare relate your movement to others in the past. Not only is your message not clear but your means of delivery is piss poor. See most organizations who want to deliver a message they feel so passionately about do so constructively. They actually get involved in the community, help out to get heard, not just camp out. Why should people stop and delve into your reasons for such a stance on whatever the hell youre opposing when you people wont even do more than just paint a few signs and sit on your hands. If your group wont take the initiative to do more than the bare minimum dont expect a return on your investment or any sympathy form people who are busy being productive. Please give the park back to the group of dog owners who would gather everyday to let their four legged friends run around. Your message is not being heard… so this time its not the message’s fault, its the messenger.
