A healthy, vegetarian and macrobiotic«restaurant» that only opens on Saturdays at the Soto Mission. Although it takes place at the temple’s cafeteria, there is no religious affiliation(I think), and can be enjoyed by anyone who wants to have a healthy Saturday lunch. It’s a bit of a bus ride for me, but I come here once a month or so with my mom when she visits from the Big Island. The food has always been delicious, and it feels great to be putting food that is good for you in your body. The portions may seem small at first when you get your platter, but there is a variation of side dishes, and usually a refillable rice and soup that fills you to contentment.

Went here last Saturday with a bunch of friends for the first ever vegan brunch special. The former owner of Peace Café opened up a pop up restaurant at the Soto Mission of Hawaii, and offers lunch on Saturday afternoons from 12pm to 2pm. Everything on the plate was made in-house. The meal is gluten free, garlic free, and onion free. I don’t know how the chef is able to make a meal so tasty without animal by products. I have to admit, everything was scrumptious.
