There is something very attractive about a warm smile, a caring voice and a friendly atmosphere that evokes a certain desire to return when experienced at an establishment. I never thought I would stumble across this at a dentist office to say the least. This dentist office is pretty awesome. If you blink you may not even notice the location as you are driving up Nuuanu Avenue, yet it is well worth stopping in and checking out. As soon as you walk in the first thing you are treated with is a lovely«Hello.» Whether you are a current patient or not by the way. Checking in is like starting an amazing dental journey with surprises and wonders around every turn. From the wow factor of learning that they use the latest in laser technology, to the awe of realizing how well equipped they are for just about every possible situation. One can not help but feel reassured that they are in good hands. The next thing I was most taken back by was the way that they explain everything in basic language so that you are not left in the dark or thrown off by huge dental verbiage. They actually say«we will be using words associated with dentistry during your exam, please don’t be alarmed or confused by them…» Amazing. If you have ever been in a dentist chair wondering or worrying what they are saying, doing and about to charge, I am sure you can relate. They also are really fantastic about going over your options and setting realistic goals with you. Rather than trying to up-sell you with scare tactics disguised as concern. This can mean a lot to a person who may need a little work done but is not quite sure what to prioritize in the face of an impending bill or being offered promises of a fantastic smile. To me this is what sets Dr. Oh apart from the other dentists I have been to. He empowers you with the ability to make a well educated decision based upon your own interests and financial situation. This old school style is a characteristic that is truly hard to find in a dentist office in today’s day and age. All in All Great Place to Get Your Teeth Done

My husband and I are here every four months for a cleaning and we have nothing to complain about. The staff apparently likes to work there, which is a really good sign. We have not seen a lot of turnover over the past 2.5 years unlike so many of our doctor offices in New York City. The reception staff is excellent. They are always friendly, always in a good mood(or are great at hiding bad moods), and efficient. They send reminders for appointments and try to accommodate all of our requests. The hygienist Joyce, is very friendly and does a great job. Dr. Oh is pleasant and competent. What more can we ask for in a dentist?

I’m the sort of person that looks upon dental visits with dread. However, I must say that my time spent at Dr. Oh’s office has been productive and with a minimal amount of discomfort. His staff are warm and friendly, and the doc himself has a calm and confident demeanor which is well suited to the medical profession. I’ve been here for cleanings, root planing, a root canal and a crown. More than I’ve ever visited a single dentist for ever before. Because his anesthetic technique is good. He gets you numb and doesn’t mess around. He’s also quite conscious of aesthetic, even if I’m not very much myself. I appreciate that he seems to have a great interest in his work. I would highly recommend Dr. James Oh to anyone in need of quality routine dentistry.
