I started coming here because I have a few friends that get waxed here.
Before I went to Guam I used to come here to get waxed by Kitty. She was amazing, sweet and did great work. After I came back from my vacation one of my friends told me that Kitty was no longer working there. I decided to switch places. I do have to say it’s a very clean salon. They have a very professional staff and do a great job. No complaints. It is located inside the Dole Cannery.

Kitty is no long here and is now at Lily’s Nail Spa & Salon near Ala Moana. The salon she works at is the only one that deserves five stars. I’ll follow here wherever she goes. :)

NEVER coming back… I came here once to get a brazilian from Marcela and she was AMAZING! BUT she just moved back to Columbia, so I had to settle for someone new. On my second (and now FINAL) visit I was waxed by a girl named Elizabeth. I was here with 2 friends, and we all had horrible experiences. AVOID this woman at all costs!
She started our appointment by trimming with DULL scissors and shaky hands… after a minute, she finally realized she needed a better pair. She used straight kitchen scissors with my friend, and this girl ALMOST CUT HER CLIT OFF.
Now for the wax… She applied hot wax to one section, waited for it to dry, then braced myself for the first rip. She failed on her first, second, third attempt… I lost count. ANYWAYS, after 895 634 756 failed attempts, she decided to leave it and get back to it after cleaning up the other sections.
Long story short guys, it was an HOUR of torture. She kept ripping and applying HOT wax to the same section… I left with a bumpy and burnt vagina that was sore until the next day. She didn’t properly clean the room after each of our sessions, so there were remaining hairs on the floor AND BED. I’ve had plenty of brazilians and this was by far my worst experience.

I only give one star because I have to in order to leave this review. I am completely traumatized and devastated after my experience here this evening. Let me start by saying I had waited so long to get my hair done. I let it grow out for close to a year without coloring or cutting it. I just had a baby in April and this was my first time in a salon trying to get pampered a little bit since I last had a pedicure right before my daughter was born. All that is beside the point though. Here is my problem with this horrible place of shattered dreams:
I picked a picture off of Pinterest of a pretty blonde style I wanted. Shouldn’t be hard to achieve, I’m naturally light brown, so it’s not a stretch by any means. I posted this picture on Facebook, asking for a stylist that could achieve this look. Elizabeth answered my post and we chatted briefly. I sent her a picture of what my hair looked like and I explained to her my hair history and she still said she believed she could achieve the look for me. I go there at my designated appointment time, she looks at my hair and begins to go at it. Never once did she say because of previous color, it might be more difficult than she expected. After I process and she rinses me, my hair barely looks any different but it’s still wet so I’m trying to remain positive. She states that she needs to go in again with the lightener. I’m getting nervous and anxious at this point, but I’m still willing to keep going because she still hasn’t said that we might have a problem. She applies more bleach, places me under the dryer and blasts me with heat for a good 15 minutes. She rinses me again and takes me back to the chair. I’m sitting there holding back tears for a good 10 minutes while she tries and tries to untangle the mess she’s made on my head. Finally I tell her to just stop. It’s not working for me and I need to get home to my baby because at this point I’ve been gone almost 4 hours. I go to the counter, really in all honesty expecting not to be charged because she made a mess! My hair is as brassy as a door knob and no where near the cool toned, dimensional blonde we had discussed in the beginning. The receptionist tries to tell me I have to pay $ 200 and I’m once again blown away. I told her No way. This is not $ 200 hair. She goes and gets Elizabeth and I continue to argue with her for I don’t even know how long. I still ended up paying $ 120. I PAID $ 120 TO HAVE MY HAIR RUINED! I understand that due to previous color history, I can’t get to where I wanted to be all in one session but NEVER NOT ONCE DID SHE SAY ANYTHING. She just continued to bleach and bleach until me, THE CLIENT, said stop, you are ruining my hair, this is not working. NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I EVER HAD SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I can not believe I had to pay for what she did to my hair. Any respectable professional would have acknowledged their horrible job and tried to make it right, but no. She insisted I still pay. She offered no solution. I don’t even know what to do. I was so looking forward to feeling good about myself after a long summer of adjusting to being a new mom, adjusting to all the other changes my body has gone through that I don’t feel so good about. Instead I feel worse. So thank you Elizabeth and R’lax Salon. I don’t even know if it can be fixed and if it can how much it will cost.

Elizabeth-​Cut, colored, and styled my hair. She did an AMAZING job! I came out looking and feeling like a brand new and improved me!
I love going to R’lax! Every time I’ve gone, I’ve had a wonderful experience. The ladies are all very nice and very professional.

I don’t leave a lot of Unilocal reviews but this situation left me feeling particularly unsatisfied. I came in yesterday ⁹⁄₁₂ for an «express manicure» with gel polish. The staff was courteous and friendly.
My manicure was a little disappointing. I wanted French tip with the white gel and a sparkle for the rest of my nail to which the woman said «better one color»…so I nervously settled for a solid white. We started my manicure and I noticed a couple spots of the base coat weren’t even covered on my nails. I brushed this off because I didn’t know if it was super necessary to be perfect.
When she began the white, it was dried up and unusable and so I had to pick another color. I chose a clear sparkle.
We proceeded with the second color choice and she still missed spots on my nails! I’m not rude or overly pushy so I didn’t say much, instead I just corrected a spot myself when she walked back to put some supplies away. The manicure took maybe 15 minutes total.
The manicure was 35 $ to which I left a small tip.
I come home and me left thumb peels right off? I wake up today and my middle finger is chipped and half of it peels off? And there’s ANOTHER spot missing paint that I didn’t even know of. Needless to say I’m pretty bummed. I don’t have a lot of money and this was a treat from my boyfriend to make me feel good about myself and I now I feel pretty ghetto. Not only do my nails look incomplete, but I’m out $ 40 for something I could have done better quality myself.
I didn’t do anything in between the time I got my nails done and the time they peeled except for drive home. No showers, maybe washed my hands 4 – 6 times? I probably won’t come here again unless I’m offered some kind of service correction or a refund. I basically paid $ 40 for nice nails for a couple hours.

I use to love coming to rlax until now. I don’t think I will ever go back. Previously I got waxed by Marcella and kitty (both of them are 5 stars) but I was told that they both are no longer working there any more. I ended up getting waxed by a new person named Lisse? (I think that’s her name). It was the most horrible and painful wax I’ve ever received in my life. She took over an hour to wax me when Marcella and kitty would only take 10 – 20 min or less. She also dripped big blotches of wax on me on places that were not going to get waxed. When she attempted to pull off the wax it would not come off & she continued to do the same area over and over again. She said that the AC wasn’t cold enough so the wax wasn’t hardening. She left me with a lot of wax and put a towel over the wax (which it got stuck to the towel) & went into the other room to lower the AC. The wax was sooo hot and bubbling. I told her it was too hot, she turned it down but continued to use it and burnt me. The whole time I was just thinking to myself «hurry up & please let this end». I hate to give this place a bad review because I loved coming here previously. Maybe I would give this place a second chance with a new technician who has more years of experience. She also mentioned that she normally does lash extensions but is starting to do waxing. After I left I was in pain for a week or so. I have not received any other services at r-​lax and this review is strictly on the most recent wax experience that I had.

I went to R*Lax because Kitty moved here from the Nailery. About a month before Kitty’s move, R*Lax had a groupon for $ 35 on Mani/​pedi service. Like a fool, I bought two with the intent of gifting one. When I called to make the appointment, I let them know I had a groupon. When I got there, I brought up the groupon again and was told no problem.
When checking out to pay, I was told by the owner that I couldn’t use it because it was only valid with one of her technicians. So why didn’t she let me know when I called and when I checked in?
Don’t go here! The owner smiles but has such underhanded, unethical business practices. I am still in possession of a useless expired groupon.

My first time here. Tried mini massage 30 mins for my neck, back, and shoulders. Also pedicure.
The massage is kind of light compares to thai massage I normally do. But the pedicure is great. They are very friendly and polite. I definitely come back again!

I have been coming to R’lax for over a year to see Marcella for waxing, facials and massages. And now also to see Val for hair.
Marcella takes her time to get to know you to find out what your preferences are for waxing and massages. The first time I went to see her, she made me comfortable by explaining the waxing procedure and told me what to expect and when to expect it. I was expecting pain but got none. She also explains care techniques thoroughly to prevent from ingrown and her advice also helped reduced the speed of my hair growth. From the first time I went to her till present Marcella’s professionalism and skill has been nothing short of A+. If you’ve never gotten wax done, then you definitely need to see her for your first experience!
Her facials, I never liked having facials because once the removal for blackheads and other imperfections start it hurts, especially around the nose. The only reason I had it done again was because it was a spa package gift from my kids. I was embracing myself for the pain once the extraction began but was surprised when I felt none. Marcella also advises on skin care products what isn’t wallet busting. While every other esthetician try to sell you expensive products, Marcella recommends the best cost efficient ways to care for your skin.
Massages, I love deep tissue massages. I did not expect a person with small body built to massage me with the heavy pressure that I like. Again, Marcella pleasantly surprises me. Not only was the pressure on point but she found and focused on my body parts that needed it the most. I walked out of there feeling like weight was lifted off my shoulders and was relaxed. I slept like a baby that night.
R’lax, has a new hair stylist, the one and only VAL. At first I was skeptic to try her because I had bad experiences in the past and it is hard to find someone who understands or who can work with Pacific Islander hair styles. I have very thick curly/​wavy hair, I wanted to get it thinned out and smoothed. When I got done with Val, I felt great and my hair, it was healthy and I received a lot of compliments. Val only uses natural safe products and does not advice on harsh chemicals for your hair. She also specializes on wigs, weaves, and EVERY ethnic hair styles.
R’lax has become my go to place for all these services and I definitely 100% recommend these two ladies!

My very first time at R-​LAX was a positive and great experience!
I got my pedicure done by Kitty, she is too awesome. I really enjoyed my massage and Kitty did it a greaaaat job on my toes!
Kitty was kind to always ask me if I was OK while she worked on my feet if my calluses or anything hurt. That is always nice when I am asked if I’m comfortable.
I enjoyed the atmosphere, it is very clean and relaxing in there.
Especially listening to a calm radio station while sitting on a massage chair, talk about heaven!
I will return soon to get another pedi done, as well as manicure and maybe waxing too.
Kitty is very friendly and a people person, and it’s obvious she loves her work by her results. You will not regret coming here for services.
I was weary coming at first but I thought I try any place at least once. I am so happy I did. Found an awesome place right below where I work.

Jean does amazing nails!!! Very creative and does great designs! I would definitely recommend her when you go.

The décor needs a lot of work. So much clutter, mish mash of «stuff» all over the place; does not feel like a spa at all. Nothing matches, colors are not soothing. Far from a relaxing spa.
From the outside looking in, there’s also too much stuff in your windows to know who you are or what you offer — lotsa lotsa stuff all over the place, too many signs/​notices to read in your window. Confusing. At the other end of the spectrum, no clear signage at all.
Other than that, manicures have improved from when you first opened. Stylish hair cuts are iffy, and straight forward men’s hair cuts and women’s comb outs are practical and good on the run.

I came to this salon with high hopes and excited to get my hair done after purchasing my groupon. I had the style saved on my phone and had a clear idea of what I wanted. Short in the back, long in the front.
When I got there and saw my stylist I knew instantly that this wasn’t going to go well. She was an older lady and i got the feeling that she wasn’t going to do what I requested at all either due to lack of experience or not caring much about her craft. But I did my best to keep positive, I wanted this to go well. I’ve been looking forward to chopping off my long locks for some time now and was hoping that the lady would prove me wrong.
She had a lot of length to work with, at least 2 feet worth of hair so there was room to adjust had she been cautious. Alas, she chopped everything around at the same length and shorter than what I wanted in the front even though I showed her the picture in the beginning of my appointment and told her repeatedly that I wanted long in the front short in the back. Having my hair very short in the back didn’t bother me at all. I then made the mistake of asking her to make bangs on me like the picture. It came out choppy and horrid. The cut is very square and uneven at the tips. In some sections of my head some strands are longer than others. In the back I gave her the ok to shave the bottom in hopes of exaggerating the short in back, long in front look but there is a vastly short patch. It wasn’t even shaved cleanly. I was so frustrated with the feeling I asked my boyfriend to shave the back with my eyebrow razor. Which is when I found out about how sloppy the back was.
I would have let all of this slide if she hadn’t made excuses for herself at the end. When asked by the front desk if I liked my hair. I nicely but honestly told them,‘it wasn’t what I was expecting, but it’s ok.’ And smiled. Befuddled by my answer the asked to see what I came in for and the shock on their faces were prominent. The stylist then stepped in saying,‘her hair is so black it was hard to see.’ At this point I was upset. I didn’t show it, but that statement to save her butt just cost her this review. When you make a mistake, own up to it. If she had apologized for doing her own thing to my head I would have felt better about it and quietly gotten my hair fixed elsewhere. Instead she made it to be my fault for having dark hair. To make matters worse I forgot my wallet. I rushed out that morning and left it in another bag. I called my mother to ask if she could read me my card information but the front desk was kind enough to cover the tax and payment for my cut. For what ever reason it was an extra $ 30 on top of my $ 35 groupon but they didn’t fuss with the technicality. Which is why this review is getting two stars instead of one. They even offered to have the back cut more but I didn’t want that lady butchering my hair anymore than she already did.
It is now very difficult for me to be happy with what I see in the mirror and the stylist’s words echoing in my head makes me more upset. My self esteem is dropped and I am instantly in a bad mood after looking in the mirror. Never get your hair cut by the older woman, I think her name is Quinita. I don’t know if there were other stylists present but I regret giving that lady a chance with my hair and should’ve listened to my instinct to run out the door. I am going to another salon in hopes of salvaging my hair. I do wish the best for this salon. The other workers seem friendly. They have great reviews for nails and Brazilian so go there for those things!

I never heard of this salon before. Honestly it’s the location I would never go for my nails. Only reason I went there was because my sister referred Kitty.
She is the best! And the only person I would go for nails.
I have a bad habit of biting my nails, so my hands are not pretty and nails are super short. She glued fake extension on my nails. A fading style with silver glitters. My nails look so pretty. And because of her, I got rid of my nail bitten habit, which I had probably for about 15 years. I mean how could you bite them. They look so pretty.
You must see kitty. I can guarantee you will love her nail art. They are well done and lasts long time. Definitely high end and not they cheap crappy $ 12 nail job
She also do waxing. Try her Brazilian only $ 45 the cheapest I ever know and no pain at all
Eyebrow waxing and facial hair waxing is great too.
Not to mention she also does facial and massage.

The worst customer service. They advertised for a special at $ 35 or more + free manicure without a price list on their website. I made an appointment and told all my friends and we scheduled a mini mani/​pedi party. When I called to confirm a worker informed me that the only pedicure as actually $ 45 — way to get people in the door and then jack up the price.
When I tried to tell them that their website advertising was misleading — they hung up on me. Not cool. DO NOT PATRON THIS PLACE because there are better salons out there that actually care for your business. I am a professional and $ 10 does not make a difference to me but being treated like a valued customer does matter. Always. The owner is right when she told me that I can spend my money elsewhere and I suggest that everyone do the same.

JEAN AND KITTY! Apparently I’ll follow these two ladies anywhere! I just realized tonight that our paths crossed from two salons ago. I absolutely love their work. Jean is my go to person for my nails. Kitty does awesomely beautiful work too. I’m usually indecisive on what I want when I walk in and yet Jean never disappoints. I’ve even told her once to just do her thing and although I was completely pushed out of my comfort zone with her design, it was amazing. The Nailery lost two gems by letting these two get away. I highly recommend going to see either of them. Just be sure to make an appointment… it’s totally worth it. Love love love them!

I followed Kitty over when she moved salons and I enjoy R’lax a lot! It’s spacious and kitty has a nice shelf to display all her amazing art work! I had a nice cup of tea too.
Kitty is the best a gel nails in hawaii, I’ve tried other places and no place looks as perfect or lasts as long as Kittys. She so creative that sometimes I come in with no idea what to do, and she just creates something, and it’s always amazing. She’ll tell you what colors look good for you, what goes together, and her suggestions always lead to the most amazing nails. Whether it’s crazy japanese style nails, or more subtle classy glitters, she always does the best job for the best price !
Park in the normal Dole Cannery Parking and then walk across the street. When you enter the building head to the back right corner and there’s the salon! Don’t forget to validate!

Mani and Pedicure from JEAN was fabulous. Although many people loves Kitty. You should definitely try with Jean! Trust me. You will love your nails!
First of all, she was very precise with her design.
Secondly, she did not try to rip you off with doing nails too fancy.
Third, she was very informative. She was explaining what she’s doing with my nails. For example, she was explaining that she was buffing the nails with the machine.
Lastly, her designs to me felt very chic. I told her what designs I wanted and she transformed it and added more Voilà!
They have special promotions going on because they just opened recently. You should try to call them and ask for specials.
Prices are very reasonable!
I got a spa manicure with royal pedicure for $ 80! (Trust me gel nails with designs like mine costed way more than $ 100 at other places I have been to) For my manicure I got gel nails. As you can see on the pictures, I feel so chic!

I love love kitty! So as soon as I heard she moved to a different salon I told her to text me the new business. I am so glad she moved closer to me and into a more convenient place.
I never heard of this salon before but I always pass through the area, now I know this place will be busy once kitty gets her clients back. The place is clean and very spacious, lots of chairs to do mani and pedis. They also have hair services, massages and facials. This place is a one stop pamper, girls night out, having a bad day need me time kinda joint.
Kitty is beyond amazing, she really cares for her customers and gives me the best customer service. I’ve known her for a little year now and getting to know her is my blessing. She’s not just a nail artist but she’s a very caring, genuine and thoughtful individual.
She will go way beyond what she needs to do and she is a perfectionist! You have an idea of the design you want she will make it more than what your expected it to be, just check her Instagram page and those pictures will speak for themselves.
I know now she’s moved from a different salon but take those appointments now because she’ll be very busy with her regular customer you’ll be lucky that she’s open. She does gel nails and pedicures! Her manicures are to speak for themselves but when you do get a pedicure, she does an amazing job as well! She does her pedicure like a foot massage, she caters to you and she is just so awesome at what she does!
I really can’t say more about her because once you get to know her, she’ll be in your life forever because she makes such an impact in your life. She’s personable, friendly and really funny!
The owner is such a sweetheart too! If you want friendly staff you don’t have to look no further, I get the sense of welcomeness here and it’s always so refreshing because it’s rare to find a place with such.
Please do visit my nail artist and dear friend kitty! And no I’ve never knew her before only when I started going to her old shop that’s how we became friends, not biased at all. She just proves herself every time I see her that she’s the best.
And there is always free parking, they are located right inside dole cannery on the first floor. Just as soon as you walk through iwilei they are on the right side. And if you’re coming from Costco side they are on the left just walk straight through.
You really need to book your appointment to start looking fabulous with those nails and you’ll feel so pretty!
