having a nice brunch with my family when something that makes me sick to my stomach happens… birds landing on the food! so gross! makes me sick to my stomach! i watched the manager, several staff members, and chefs walk by the bird sitting on the food!!! i will never eat here again. birds flying and spreading disease everywhere and the staff couldn’t care less.

Been to the Saturday night Seafood Buffet 2 times. It’s $ 60. 10% off if you are Kamaaina. I love this buffet. The food is great (I will get to that in a bit), service is always 5 * and the view is great. Try to go a little early for sunset and ask for an outside table.
Now for the food. The highlights were the sashimi, poke, miso butterfish, smoked salmon, and seafood chowder. They also had a made to order seafood medley with sauce, coconut shrimp, crab legs, oysters, cocktail shrimp, lots of different types of salads and other side dishes. I didn’t try half the items cuz I was too full. My disappointment was with the prime rib (too well done, too fatty, and not very tender) and the dessert bar. The desserts were very pretty, but didn’t taste that great. The best were the pot de crème and cheesecake.
Took off 1 star cuz it is expensive. I would go back but only for a very special occasion.

Let me start by saying I don’t know what type of establishment turns away a mother on Mother’s Day. Oh wait! I know… this place does and did so today during my 1^st year celebrating Mother’s Day with my family in Hawaii. Thank you for this. I realize that it’s a busy holiday and their hotel patrons take precedence before non-​staying guests. And I would have completely understood this if I didn’t call the day before and was told that if I came before 8 am then I would be able to be seated before the real crowd came so that’s exactly what we did.
When we arrived to the restaurant, there was probably no more than 4 parties ahead of us and 1 party behind us yet I was told they were fully booked. I peaked around and saw a few dozen open tables. Mind you my party included 2 adults and 1 baby yet we were told there was no room and we could not be accommodated. To make matters even more insulting, the hostess offered us a possible opening at the bar. REALLY?! You want me to sit at the bar with my baby?! You pegged me for that type of person who would sit at a bar with a baby?! I don’t know if I’m more sad for getting turned away or insulted by the consolation prize the hostess offered. I even explained to the hostess that I called the day before and was told that I could come before 8am if I had no reservation but she offered no sympathy whatsoever and simply looked behind me to serve the next guest as if I was a nuisance and not worthy of anymore of her time. Perhaps if I looked more expensive and more like a rich tourist I may have been allotted a few more moments of her time or even a table. I would have been willing to wait for those with reservations to be seated first before they can see if there would be room for me but they didn’t even bother to try.
I’m super bummed that I didn’t get to try this place. The premises and restaurant looked beautiful from what little I saw. I was so excited about showing my daughter the infamous dolphins they have here but I guess we’ll never get to experience it as I’m completely turned off now.

Great view overlooking the beach. Breakfast was busy, but we were seated relatively quickly since we had made a reservation. The menu was pretty diverse, lots of selections but decided to go with the buffet. Egg station was busy, but the Chef did his best to keep up. The rest of the buffet was confusing, the hot station had manapua next to maple crepes, waffles were next to the egg station, lox were on one side and the bagels were on another. The food was pretty tasty.
Service was «relaxed». Our server took our orders but never really checked back. Not a bad experience but for $ 35.00 it wasn’t a great experience that would make me want to return.

Beautiful setting with an ocean view, breakfast Was OK with your basic items. We were hoping to see fish, scramble eggs and maybe there Benedict on the buffet line, for the omelette station was fairly long, the omelette station Attendant was very friendly and attentive.

To celebrate the end of the hardest unit in school we’ve had to date, a few of my friends and I decided to have brunch at Plumeria Beach House.
Unfortunately, we arrived at 10:30 and their brunch buffet ends at 11:00.
After perusing through the lunch menu, we decided we’d wait an hour for their curry lunch buffet. It only occurs once a week and we happened to be here on a Wesnesday!
After an hour of drinking expensive, fancy cocktails, the buffet finally started.
Maybe I’m just unbelievably inpatient, but I’ll say it wasn’t worth the wait or the price. They have a salad bar, and a sides bar to go with the curry. There are three types of curries. Japanese with pork, Indian with beef, and Thai with seafood. Each curry also has its own type of rice. My favorite was the Indian, followed by the Japanese. I’m not sure if the reason I didn’t like the Thai as much was because I’m not a fan of seafood (mussels, shrimp, scallops), or if it’s cause I’ve just had wayyyyyy better. The dessert bar could’ve been better as well. Not the best I’ve had, but still good.
Overall? Drinks? Good. Food? Okay.
Great to try if you’re a big fan of curry, but I wouldn’t come here again just for that.
Best part of the trip? Seeing their Dolphins. Although… I did have flashbacks of watching Blackfish… and wondered about the Dolphins.

I’ve eaten here a few times and each time the service has been amazing! Everyone who works here are always so helpful & gracious. From the moment you get seated until you leave they are always checking up on you and providing amazing service.
Aside from their amazing service the food here is delicious I love also that at dinner if some people in your party are eating buffet they don’t require you to eat buffet you have an option to order from their ala cart menu. In my opinion that’s a huge plus for me especially since im not a huge buffet person.
I highly recommend this restaurant for amazing service and amazing food!

I couldn’t think of a «new» buffet place to take mom for her birthday. We’ve pretty much brunched at many of the other hotels in Waikiki and I didn’t want to drive too far from town so I picked Plumeria Beach House.
The view is absolutely gorgeous. Nothing is more calming than looking out at the ocean while dining and I never take that for granted. The buffet selection wasn’t stellar for the price but any buffet that has Japanese food options (read: natto) gets automatically bumped up by half a star. In this case, I rounded down, rather than up because I felt there were a bunch of times I would’ve appreciated a refill to my water or more attention from the servers. Don’t get me wrong… they were attentive and nice when they stopped by our table. But stopping by our table didn’t happen very often until closer to the end when we were getting ready to leave.
Is it worth coming to? Sure, it is. Would I go back if someone chose to come here? Definitely. Would I suggest coming here again for the price paid? I’m not so sure. With that, three stars it is.

We went here for my friend’s graduation dinner. It is hands down, the best seafood buffet I’ve ever been to. The sashimi was excellent. So fresh and soft and full of flavor. The oysters were the some of best, and biggest, I’ve had. They also had a selection of poke and while it wasn’t my favorite, it was still delicious. The line for the prime rib went back quite a bit, so you know it was worth the wait. I stood on it twice! They also had some interesting salads and main entrees, but with all that amazing seafood, I didn’t waste much stomach space on those. The restaurant is right on the beach so you can catch some lovely waves and sunsets as you fill your stomach to capacity… and then some.

Came here for the all you can eat breakfast buffet, $ 38/​person. It’s a nice place to have Sunday morning breakfast with family on the beach. If you’re looking for just breakfast food (eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, omelette, cereal, etc.) with a nice view, then this is it. You won’t find a large variety, but the food is great! My favorite, the waffles with their coconut syrup. Mm yum. If you’re not feeling JUST breakfast food, there’s brunch up stairs for $ 75/​person.

Awesome seafood buffet! The oyster shucker probably hates when I come in for the buffet! I throw down about a good 3 – 4 dozen before venturing off to the other delicious seafood treats! Staff is always friendly and attentive with a nice décor! Seafood buffet is now available on Thursdays too??? Christmas came super early this year!

This casual dining restaurant is located beachside at the Kahala Resort Hotel. The open air dining, casual-​elegance and American menu is perfect for out of town guests and locals alike. My suggestion is to check the menu before you go to see what’s offered and the price range. It’s on the pricier side, but after all you are dining in a 5 star resort. The food preparation, delivery and service is 5 star as well. My table mates enjoyed the seafood catch of the day, prime New York steak and roasted chicken entrees. I had the lamb chops and was disappointed with the preparation. I should have read the description to see that it was prepared sous vide and breaded. I was expecting a grilled rack. My bad!

Beautiful views from the tables! The seating is all opened-​air, so there’s a nice breeze during breakfast. It was too pricy for such a casual platter. I had the omelette and hashbrown. The omelette was really good! But the hash brown wasn’t impressive, at all. I know it’s only hashbrown, but sad for the amount we paid. Haha.
Also, I felt like I was treated a little different because I am a local, and not white looking or Japanese. All the guests in front of us made no reservations and were offered front seating and different choices of menus. However, I made a reservation and input requests and the hostess just automatically said, oh I’ll sit you in the inside because it’s too sunny. Didn’t give me a choice, especially when I requested for something near the outside rail. She also didn’t give me a choice of menu. She assumed we wanted the buffet. The busser was very friendly and so smiley!!! I appreciated his enthusiasm!

I looove their breakfast buffet! I’d say it’s one of the better ones I’ve been to here on the island. It’s a little pricey but I think it’s worth it. The restaurant is right next to the ocean but unfortunately the day we went it was pouring so the view wasn’t that great.
They have a variety of choices for breakfast, anywhere from American to Japanese items. My personal favorite are the pancakes. I’m usually not a fan of pancakes but these are so good! They’re rolled up and similar to crepes and the sauce they put on top is delicious. The service is great. Our server always made sure we were okay and had enough coffee, even the other servers double checked on us too. The reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars was because we had reservations but we had to wait at least 20 minutes to be sat. A bunch of people were crowded around their hostess desk waiting to be sat and people even cut in line, it was just a mess. Other than that, everything was great and I can’t wait to go back.

Came here last weekend for an informal bridal shower for one of my friends. Right out of the gate this visit did not get off to a good start… first of all it was pouring rain so there was traffic, meaning I was late. Then, I try to park in the self-​parking lot and the garage is blocked off from level 2 (I have since heard that this is frequently the case). Since there wasn’t really a turn around, I ended up having to do an Austin Powers reverse/​turn around job and head back to the valet.
I finally get seated (luckily I beat the guest of honor there) and while normally the view is gorgeous, on this day you could barely even see anything because it was raining so hard.
In terms of food, I found the selection to be lacking. Part of this is due to the lack of space, but for such a pricey buffet, I expected more (I had been to this buffet several years ago, but back then I think my standards were lower). For example, it would’ve been great to have more of a dessert selection. However, the service was exceptional and they didn’t try to rush us out of there even though we were clearly done eating and were just enjoying each other’s company. All in all, it was just an okay experience and while I will probably be back at some point, it moat likely won’t be my first choice or at my recommendation.

We came here for an early Thanksgiving get together. No turkeys necessary.
Unfortunately, Despite the hefty price tag, our dinners were just meh at best.
The salad croutons were stale, the lobster bisque was extremely salty and the lobster linguini had no flavor whatsoever. I don’t think that the chef took any time to taste the food that he was serving tonight.
Three of us ordered the new your steak which were just overwhelming flavored with their steak sauce that tasted like something you might find on a plate lunch, not a restaurant as reputable as the plumeria.
According to the hostess, their breakfast and seafood buffets are very well done. I sure wish that they would put the same effort into their regular dinner selections.
The ambiance was as beautiful as you would expect for the Kahala; however, it was a unanimous decision to go elsewhere for dessert rather than risking more disappointment here tonight.

Nice atmosphere! Brunch was the typical omelette bar, prime rib, eggs, bacon, salad station, bread and bagel station etc. Cost was $ 35 was was primarily paying for the ambience. Worth to go here on a special occasion. Self or valet parking. We hanged out on the lanai upstairs which was quite pleasant watching the dolphin show with the tourists.

I haven’t personally met Beth W but my bb has on his business trips to the Bay Area. Through all his pictures and stories, I feel like I know her. She is so generous and treated us to lunch today at The Plumeria Beach House at The Kahala Hotel & Resort. She made a great recommendation to go there. It was just what we needed with our busy schedules.
The hotel is so beautiful! There are so many things to see from the waterfall to all the sea life. My personal favorite were the sea turtles. They are so cute! After all the walking around, we got a little hungry so we walked over to the Plumeria restaurant. The hostess was very nice and offered us a choice of seating. It was sunny so we sat inside.
We were serviced by a very nice server. He brought everything out that we asked for and checked up on us a few times during our meal. The food came out delicious. We got to spend time talking, laughing and enjoyed the beauty that surrounded us. We’re so very appreciative to Beth W for thinking of us and for this amazing lunch date. Love you Beth!

Our dear friend Beth W wanted to treat us to a nice lunch before our Thailand wedding and suggested The Plumeria Beach House in The Kahala. It is the perfect place to have lunch with the magnificent view of the beach and ocean. Around the restaurant are dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, fish and a waterfall. This was Mink’s first time here and she absolutely loved every moment of it. She found many photo opportunities but when she saw the sea turtles, that made her day. It put the biggest smile on her face.
When you arrive, you have the option to valet or self park. Validation covers the valet and you just have to tip the driver. Once they take your vehicle, you walk toward your right, when facing the hotel, and down the stairs. The restaurant is immediately to your right. A hostess greets you and escorts you to a table either inside or outside (your preference). Your server then comes to introduce themselves and takes your order. Their service has been consistent and friendly. Food here is good and comes out the way you order it. Much Mahalo and Aloha again to Beth W for such a much needed lunch date!

Just not enough value unless you have a power appetite. I only did one plate so I would have been better to save the money for a lobster dinner. Drinks are not included. The malasadas were a highlight. The view and location help to make up for the $ 38 plate.

This quickly became my favorite place on the island for brunch. Mostly for the incredible view. Came here with 2 friends and we had a reservation. They gave us a table outside, although the entire restaurant is open and seated right on the beach. Also, valet parking is complimentary with a validation from the restaurant, another huge plus.
The breakfast buffet is phenomenal. Worth every penny of the $ 35. They had an omelette station, delicious potatoes, the most perfectly crisp bacon ever, Portuguese sausage, crepes, waffles, malasadas, fresh fruit, adorable mini acai bowls, plenty of croissants and pastries, cereals, and an assortment of rice and soups for the Asian guests. It was a great selection and everything was french and delicious. I even loved the fancy heated serving platters. Service was good and it was just so nice to have such a pretty view to enjoy while eating and enjoying our coffee.
Afterwards, just steps away you can go see the dolphins and turtles near the pools. The hotel is so beautiful and meticulously kept. This is a real treasure and a great place to take visitors. I am happy the hotel allows non-​guests to come dine and enjoy, since it’s truly such a lovely place.

The Plumeria Beach House is the classic example of a 5 star atmosphere paired with 4 star food; 3-​star food if you want to be a stickler about it.
It goes without saying that everything The Kahala does is excellent, but honestly, there are no specialty dishes that make you say, «I have to come back for more of that!»
Food always tastes better outdoors and the open air tables are about 15 yards from the water. It’s breathtaking, plain and simple. The staff is well trained and courteous and the menu is thoughtful and well executed. However, atmosphere aside, there really isn’t anything compelling about the restaurant itself; unless of course you’re staying at the hotel and don’t care to venture off the premises.
I was last there for Easter brunch and had a wonderful time with my famous friends. Saw lots of Hawaii’s movers and shakers there enjoying the day as well. But if you’re fronting the bill, I’d choose other places where the focus is on outstanding food. I’ll pay $ 7 for a 12 oz. juice from BLUETREE CAFE or $ 80 for a specialty lunch with wine pairing where you get to meet the chef or vineyard owner, but for reasons I can’t put into words, I won’t dish out a premium for food that’s just above average. Yes its fresh, yes its well prepared, and yes, its a beautiful scene outside by that well manicured lawn and ocean breeze; but no, I am still not compelled to repeat my patronage.

My friend wanted to celebrate his birthday at the Plumeria Beach Café for Sunday brunch so we made reservations.
Atmosphere: Gorgeous. The area is very well endowed. The restaurant is in the Kahala hotel next to the water. There are dolphins, sea turtles and sting rays to look at close to the restaurant.
Service: Great service. Complimentary valet service for dining at the Kahala hotel restaurants. The waiters were very attentive. The beverages are not included with the brunch buffet.
Food: Good brunch layout. Omelette bar, breakfast meats, japanese breakfast station, lox and bagels, and a wide spread of fruits. Everything was very well prepared and fresh.
Intangibles: Come here for the experience. The view is beautiful and you can explore all the hotel has to offer especially the dolphins. Remember to valet!

Hotel now known as The Kahala, formerly Kahala Mandarin and older the Kahala Hilton. Home of the original Maile Room with Danny Kaleikini (Man of Aloha) now sits the Plumeria Room.
An open air restaurant looking out to the pool and the Pacific Ocean serves great brunches and meals. Their menu changes by occasion and season. They also have their set monthly brunch fare.
I tried their Curry Brunch. For $ 35 you get to flavor curries from around the world. Japan, India, Thailand to name a few countries were on display for tasting their curry preparation which includes the native starch and condiments. In addition, they have a great salad bar which compliments the curries and of course, a dessert table.
Check their listings of other events held at the Plumeria for a great meal, great view and great ambiance.

I’m going to review only the $ 35 brunch buffet. I didn’t have lunch there but I saw the menu with the $ 20 burger etc. I attended a well organized and well attended going away brunch for a long time co-​worker. It was a very nice venue for a get together such as this. The staff handled the 30+ person group easily.
Kahala Hotel and Resort: This is a first class hotel that often hosts celebrities and VIP’s of all sorts. That is because the resort is close to Honolulu but is not in Waikiki and has a great golf course adjacent to it. It offers the elite a little extra privacy and security. Locals don’t stay here as often. It is clearly more expensive than average.
Point of View: So one’s point of view will probably influence the perception of quality at the Plumeria Café. Now if I were a VIP or movie star who was accustomed to top quality dining, I’d probably rate it as no higher than 2 or 3 stars. The $ 35 price would not bother me because I probably have plenty of money. But as a local the $ 35 seems a bit too high for what you get. Now, I usually staycation at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and I get a free breakfast in a private lounge that is almost as fancy as this brunch. I know that free is better than paying 35 bucks. So for our «going away brunch» we all thought it was over priced. While at the same time everyone thought it was a nice venue and a satisfying get together overall. This experience was not close to a first class brunch either in venue, food quality or over all experience. No «Wow» factor to speak of on any level.
Food: Potatoes, rice, sausage, omelets, waffles, oatmeal, fruit and muffins. The «Kahalasada» was cute. No soy milk substitute available. Miso soup was available too. Well stocked and clean.
Venue: Large open air dining room with a full bar and buffet and relaxed resort atmosphere. It also has a partial ocean view.
Service: Friendly and efficient.
Parking: Self parking validated. Valet available for the family Bentley, Tesla or entourage of blacked out high end SUV’s. I recommend self parking to avoid embarrassment. The Camry or CRV belongs in self parking.

I have many great memories of the Plumeria Beach House at the Kahala Hotel and Resort. My sister threw my first baby shower at the beautiful open air restaurant. We had such a fantastic time that we chose it again as the venue of my baby shower for my second child. We’ve also attended several special themed dinners at the restaurant, like their Chinese New Year dinner that is highlighted with lion dances.
This restaurant is great if you’re not feeling up to fancy dining upstairs at Hoku’s. PBH is a casual dining restaurant and is located on the beach giving its diners a stunning coastal view. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating.
On the last morning of our amazing staycation at the Kahala, we chose to have the breakfast buffet at the Plumeria Beach House. They offer an omelet bar, carved ham, potatoes, bacon, sausage, thin pancakes as well as pastries, a cereal bar, fresh fruit and more. My favorite was the individual mini acai bowl. Very cute and very refreshing.
Reservations are a cinch to make on Open Table where I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. After our meal, our waiter brought out two mini slices of lilikoi cake complete with a birthday candle. It was a very nice surprise for the birthday girl. Service, like anywhere else at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, was excellent.
The full breakfast buffet is served daily and priced right at $ 35 per person on weekdays and $ 38 per person on weekends. Children 5 years and under are complimentary and children ages 6 – 12 are $ 17.50/ $ 19. Sign up for Epitome membership for a 10% discount on all food items.

Nice casual dining with option of buffet. They have different nightly buffets… seafood, curry or just regular. Service is top notch!
We came the night before Christmas Eve and they only had the regular buffer (no carving station) $ 45 per person. Great quality of salads, some sushi and sashimi and also hot entrees like catch of the day, chicken, garlic mash and steamed vegetables. Beautiful dessert spread.
Everyone on their wait staff is excellent and cater to all your needs. Best view and you can sit outside but tonight was too windy.

Oh, Plumeria’s dinner buffet puts all the Las Vegas buffets to shame! It’s not a mile long stretch of food, but everything is the freshest that I’ve ever had. Being limited in offerings, they are able to execute each dish incredibly well, from the fresh sushi, poke, gourmet salads and chafing dishes to the carving board and made-​to-​order tapas plates. Plus everything was made with such care. You can actually have your prime rib either rare, medium or well-​done at the carving station, which is a rarity in itself.
I also noticed that many buffets have gone to plastic plates for convenience and economy, but not so at Plumeria. They keep it classy with real china and a full set of heavy silverware place settings (including dessert fork and coffee spoon across the top). Emily Post would be impressed! But then, with the restaurant being in the Kahala hotel, I would expect no less.
And did I mention the magnificent ocean view? Dining to the sounds of the Pacific waves crashing on the surf and a beautiful sunset just made it a spectacular evening. Does it get any better than this?
