Piña Hawaii

The taste is not there and not enough piña. Sorry this isn’t the place for me. I like flavor but not too sweet nor too bland. Boxes look nice for a gift however, the samples at the door were just enough for me to say no thank you.

I found this at Hilton Hawaiian village next to Starbucks coffee.
They have samples of all their cakes and cookies so there is little risk of buying something you don’t like.
All the ingredients are «natural» meaning no preservatives or artificial
Flavors. I try to eat all organic and non-​gmo at home but I’m on vacation so I just do the best I can.
Their piña cake was delicious! Definitely worth checking out and trying it. The shelf life is only 2 weeks and 3 if you refrigerate it.

First saw an ad for Pina hawaii in one of the tourist magazines. I looked it up on Unilocal and saw great reviews so I urged my husband to drop me off at hawaiian village to pick some up. I got two regular pina cakes at $ 2.50 a piece. The outside cake portion was on the dry side and the pineapple pieces were not as moist or tasty as the stuff you get from Taiwan. I was disappointed.

Great place to get a gift other than the typical Hawaiian cookies and macadamias.
First of all these, pineapple cakes are absolutely delicious and can hold their own with legendary pineapple cake bakeries like the SunnyHills Taiwan. The Hawaiian pineapple filling here has a burst of tart flavor with larger pineapple pieces, which I like. It was very moist and not dry, too.
But what’s very unique about this place is the mango lilikoi cakes that you won’t find elsewhere — I got a bunch of these :)

I saw a photo of the mango lilikoi cake in my inflight magazine and ended up here. The server was super friendly and told me the best deal would be to create my own box with the individually wrapped cakes so I purchased 6 pineapple and 6 mango passionfruit cakes. She said they get new shipments daily and it’s best if I return the day before my flight for the cakes since they don’t contain any preservatives. For preordering, she gave me a discount. When I returned, my order was ready. The cakes were better than the ones I had from Taiwan.

Love this place! Must go and must eat when you’re in town! Freshly made every day with local fruits~

I went to buy the pina cakes for souvenirs. It took me forever to find them inside the Hilton.
I am not a fan of pineapple cakes, but people I bought them for said they were dry inside.
Maybe they did not travel well on the way home.
The lady indide the store was very nice and patient with me.

This is review is about the internet order I just received and not about the product itself. (The cakes are delicious. My complaint is with the shoddy packing job Pina Hawaii did.) My package was delivered all soggy due the recent rains we had in Southern California. The packing slip includes the following disclaimer: «Due to circumstances beyond our control during shipment of our products, such as … inclement weather we cannot guarantee the quality or condition of our products…» It would’ve been nice if this disclaimer was on Pina Hawaii’s internet site. The boxes are also packaged in cardboard and the cakes themselves are wrapped in wax paper. The cakes are likely ruined and I’m not going to risk eating them. (There goes $ 61.) I just don’t understand why Pina Hawaii wouldn’t wrap the boxes in plastic in order protect their product during shipping? Internet buyers beware.

I am revising my above review based upon the expedient and professional manner in which Pina Hawaii responded to my complaint. The owner personally responded in an email and assured me that the wrappers have a plastic coating inside, which should protect the cakes. Pina Hawaii has resolved my complaint in a satisfactory and timely manner. As I noted in my prior review, the cakes ARE very delicious. Now only if they would open a store in Las Vegas…

This place is totally hidden at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (not far from the penguin exhibit) — if there wasn’t a big sign posted in the main flow of walking traffic, we wouldn’t have known this place even existed. Little, but clean, new, store, with one employee; no one else was shopping too (uh-​oh, not a good sign). We tried the samples in large glass apothecary jars (there were a variety of combinations, like macadamia & coconut), but the ones we had, didn’t have the filling, though. Those samples worked on us anyway, because we ended up buying a little one to take home @ $ 6.99. But we didn’t know about the filling, until we came back from vacation and had them.
The best way to describe the pina cake is it’s sort of like a heavier pound cake with tasty pineapple filling; incredible rich texture, simple, but very good.
Hope that it’s there next time we visit, for 2 reasons: free samples, and buying a package to bring home.

Found this little GEM while I was at the Hilton! Being from Taiwan, I know my pineapple cakes and these were the freshest ones I’ve ever had. Actually had chunks of fresh pineapples inside. Also tried the coconut cake and the cookies which were also really fresh and delicious. Perfect snacks while i hiked koko head crater and diamond head trails. Ended up buying several boxes home for souvenirs as well. Loved the packaging! Be sure to look for Chris, he was super helpful and knowledgeable, even gave me tips on where to visit in Waikiki!

Came in… U dnt see much piña cakes around Hawaii. Walked in n the girl was very helpful ! Tried all of their samples ! Loved their pineapple n guava cake ! They also have Crème sandwhich I believe it’s called? N that was rlly good n yummy :). Biscotti was good too. Came out with 3 boxes. Sharing is caring ;)

Another in the endless parade of confectioners catering to the Japanese tourist’s need to bring souvenirs back home, but the only one I’ve found so far that is actually worthwhile for the rest of us. Natural ingredients and delicious taste and texture set these apart from the usual bland offerings. All four of their offerings, coconut cake, pineapple cake, coconut/​pineapple cookies, and biscotti, are delicious but it’s still Waikiki and you must pay to play for these expensive treats.

This place is amazing!!! Super fresh and delicious pineapple cakes called pina cakes. The outside is a hybrid between a cookie and a cake. The inside is filled with fresh Hawaiian grown pineapples, sweet with a little bit of tartness. They also have awesome coconut cakes and macadamia nut cookies. Definitely check this store during your visit. Super cute packaging, it’s a great gift to bring back for family and friends!
