Yes. Owens & Co has everything you need to complete your holiday shopping list. BUT What I really love most about this shop is the experience. Open the old fashioned door and step into a happy yellow accented sun lit space and experience calm and curiosity. The shop space is just lovely and the vibe affords the perfect escape from Downtown streets or that huge lunch you just ate. I ALWAYS duck in if I am on Nu’uanu Ave.

If you’re looking for a shop that has rare trinkets of great quality, look no further. Owens and Co. is so worth dealing with the Chinatown crowds and traffic. Once you walk into the store you are transformed into a very warm and homey environment. Talk about good vibes. I always forget I’m in Chinatown when I’m in the store.
The owner is so sweet and genuine, traits that are a hard combo to find in many these days. I prefer to do my shopping online as it’s just that more convenient for my lifestyle. But I enjoy stopping in to support Owens and Co as they carry some of my favorite lines. Like my favorite stationary line — Rifle and Paper, I want to say this shop was one of the first on Oahu to carry the line. I remember being so pleasantly surprised by the types of merchandise they had! Owens and Co also carries lines that are not easily found here in the islands like Royal Apothic hand cremes!!! They came through for me when my dry hands needed some TLC! Of course now that Anthropology has made it to Oahu there are other options but I much prefer to get my Royal Apothic loot from Owens and Co! Support small business, boo! Of course they also support some bombastic local designers like Imi Jewelry which specializes in handmade geometric inspired jewelry pieces.
This is a great shop to pick up cute little knick knacks for your loves who don’t live on Oahu… omiyage haven. I know I will definitely be purchasing some holiday knick knacks for my off-​island fam and friends and you should, too!
Bottom line, go get some dim sum on Sunday then shake the food coma off with some shopping at Owens and Co, you won’t be disappointed! Plus, downtown Chinatown has a nice feel to it on a Sunday.

I love this shop. It is my go-​to place for gifts and when I need a little pick-​me-​up/​retail therapy. Between the jewelry, the clothes, and the home tchotkes, I’ll never be able to retire.

adorable! I’m just now seeking out cute gift boutiques as I’m having LA type withdrawals having moved home a year ago. this boutique is cute and design savvy and what makes it cooler is the local twist. there’s lots of local designs and products available. Perfect for a hipster little gift for that «design savvy» friend. I wandered in here looking for something for my boyfriend, and admittedly 90% of their items are girls or for kids, but there’s adorable stationary and notepads and some kitchenware as well! I got him an ‘eggling’ which is a terracotta egg with seeds inside, to sprout the most adorable basil plant ever.
The worker was nice, even though indecisive me went to the store twice before deciding on an egg. The store is prone to bouts of Japanese toursits on tour of chinatown no doubt, but the little store was never uncomfy or stuffy at all.

I am a fan of Imi Jewelry (
), so when I saw a bunny-​shaped ring on Insta I had to hop on it! :) …and it just so happened that Owen’s & Co. were the first to have these in store – yay!
Clearly, I could not resist, so I stepped out of my downtown comfort zone and went beyond my Fort Street boundary… For the lunchtime shoppers, it’s about a 10 minute walk from the Tamarind Park area; head towards House of Aria, go past Ginger Hawaii and the Arts at Mark’s Garage, and when you hit Nu’uanu Avenue, O&C will be there on the corner!
The store itself has great curb appeal, with wide windows that generously let the light into the store. I’m not sure if the store gets a lot of traffic, but when I went, I was one of two customers. I was greeted warmly by someone who I assume might be the owner; she was very friendly and offered her help if I needed it, but there was no hovering and I did not feel «smothered» or rushed as a customer.
My first impressions: I want my house to look like this! To me, O&C has an Anthropologie-​type of aesthetic – simultaneously home-​y, comfortable, bright, and chic (aka amazing-​ness!). The things you can find here are also just as wonderful and delightfully «charming» as other Unilocalers write, with items ranging from clothing/​jewelry to home/​kid items; a perfect place for both the single woman or the lovely wife/​mother to shop for unique items.
I will have to come back again as my visit the last time was relatively short since I tried to only go for what I needed (ahem, wanted)…but hopefully an occasion will arise where I will need to make a call to O&C again :)

Love this store! Jewelry (bychari, awattz, etc.), fragrances, kids stuff, potted succulents, greeting cards, Pantone books, cute glass water bottles, boxed stationery & unique greeting cards, Samudra pouches. The list goes on!
Very unique store with a great mix of items. It’s the perfect place to go to find something random you didn’t know you needed, or to get a gift for someone that’s hard to shop for.
It’s located next to In4mation in Chinatown. Street metered parking or pay to park in one of the private lots next door. :D

Cute little shop in downtown Honolulu (right near Chinatown). The owner is friendly and the little trinkets are mostly locally made, if not, super cute and overpriced. Based on the photos, it looks like items often change in this little shop. I went in on a Wednesday morning and the tables and walls looked pretty bare initially but once you get to touching and moving things around, there are lots of cute little gifts or «This made me think of you» kinda gifts for your friends.
I probably won’t make my way back in too quickly as stores like the Fighting Eel are more my place to drop pretty copper pennies. However, this was cute and probably is a lifesaver for last minute gifts. Not to mention, this store has a great storefront location!

What a charming boutique!
Owens & Co is a cheerful corner store that carries adorable housewares, toiletries, jewelry and clothing, many of which are locally made. Specifically, I saw cute cheese knives, cookbooks, patterned dog collars, lots of lotions and soaps, and beautiful delicate jewelry. If you’re from SF, this store reminds me of those on Valencia Street in the Mission.
This place is easy to spot. Just look for the yellow chevron curtains hanging in the window!

Located in the center of the new downtown Art District is a little shop named Owens & Co. I stopped in on my way to lunch and found cute little «favors» for my guests.
Kitchen wares, household wares, bedroom wares, little kiddie items, a BUNCH of locally made soaps and scents, and little «goodie» items. Priced in the range for little gift and favors coupled with the fact they have some unique items, I’ve made this my go to place for «unique» items.
If you like CUTE and UNIQUE… this is the shop for you. I’ve made this my «go-​to» place for future favors and little gifts…

Though I did not buy anything this first visit, I was blown away by the ambiance and the welcoming attitude of the environment and woman (owner?) behind the cash wrap.
I LOVED the selections there. My favorite was the lotions/​body-​cosmetics stuff. I spent a good 15 minutes just smelling everything… and smelling them again… and convincing myself I don’t actually NEED anything. Yet. I will be back. I will need them soon… whenever I run out of whatever I’m currently using at home.
The children’s section was absolutely lovely and if I had many friends with children, I’d be hoarding everything there for birthdays and holidays.
I can’t wait to be back!

This is such a nice little store. I can always find a gift here for someone… and myself! The décor is awesome and everything is effortlessly classic with an island twist. The owner is really friendly and helpful and stocks the store with eccentric books, jewels, succulents, cards, & scarfs.
Owens & Co. is what a boutique in Hawaii should be. Beautiful, light, airy, and simply bursting with charm.

I walked into Owens & Co. during an impromptu expedition through Downtown Honolulu last summer. My first impression: this store is adorable.
They mostly carry home goods, jewelry, and small gifts. Owens & Co. seems to specialize in not only wares by local artists and manufacturers, but also in the offbeat and hip. There were many things I considered buying, despite not having an apartment or solo living space to showcase it in. It has a country, shabby chic vibe with a little urban flair — very unique.
During our visit, the sales woman was very welcoming and allowed us to browse in peace. She offered her help now and then, and even took the time to direct us to some of their more popular items. I appreciated her warmth.
Price wise, you’re looking at anywhere from $ 50 and upwards for high-​quality, artisan wares. They carry everything from designer wine stoppers to quilts and birthday cards. Pretty convenient and well stocked for a little shop.
I didn’t buy anything, but I imagine if I had more money in my pocket, I’d be spending a pretty penny here for some lovely trinkets to adorn my home.

Downtown is becoming my favorite spot to shop. Specifically, between Bethel St. and Nuuanu Ave, there are some great shops to be found. One of those is Owens & Co. This store is pure wonderful. I’ve been here a few times now and each and every time the customer service is outstanding, and I always find something that I «must have» {read: I don’t need it at all but my life would be soooo much better if I DO have it} before leaving. When I walk into Owens & Co, I feel like I’m in a mainland boutique, but it’s even better because it’s a LOCAL boutique, with many locally made items. Some of my favorite local items at Owens are imi jewelry, the adorable succulent potted plants, Punky Pals bunnies, Sunkissed Cottage hair barrets and Kaypee Soh pillows (though I didn’t see any on my most recent visit).
Their kids’ section carries just the kind of kiddy things that I like — the kind that don’t scream «just for kids» :o) Yes, I admit that I’m that mom that buys things for her kids that is also pleasing to ME, not just my kids. And quite frankly, it’s very hard to find toys that are totally adorable to both my kids and I. I mean, Elmo is indeed lovable, but Elmo doesn’t really do much for the décor in our home. A Punky Pals handmade bunny on the other hand, I don’t mind seeing laying on my floor or sitting on my couch because they are just adorable with their hand stitched ears, their button noses, their vintage handmade dresses and bikinis and their cute little tails sticking out the back. My daughter LOVES her bunny and so does mommy: o) Everyone is happy! This review is probably making me sound like a snobby mom, but I promise I am not! I am just a sucker for unique, whimsical, beautiful and locally made kids things. I am am also a sucker for the previously mentioned adult things too. That is why Owens & Co has become one of my favorite stores.
This place is not cheap, but it’s not wildly expensive either. I’m definitely not a frivolous person, but when I have my heart set on something beautiful AND functional, then I wait and if I’m still thinking about it a day, a week, a month later, then it’s worth saving for and Owens & Co is usually that store that has something that I end up thinking about for weeks. Next on my «wish list» is the Turkish body towels! There really is something for everyone here, and you can find small items under $ 10 all the way to high end items for $$.
If you are the type to care at all about what goes in your home and that it looks nice in it, then you will like Owens & Co. And you will feel welcomed there whether you are simply perusing or going in with a mission to buy that coveted item you’ve been thinking about for days… Turkish towels… Punky Pals… succulent plants… all «must haves» in my book: o)

The first time I walked into Owens & Company, I felt like I died & went to retail heaven; sometimes, I dream about moving into this adorable boutique, then I wouldn’t have to experience the bittersweet heartache of walking out of this specialty store, without purchasing every item.
Missy Owens is the delightful owner of the corner boutique: Owens & Company. Missy has held every major title in retail & always envisioned herself owning a boutique; when she was laid off (due to the economy), she took a giant leap of faith & transformed this experience into an opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream. Despite Missy’s initial hesitation about taking this entrepreneurial risk, the sleepless nights over committing to this decision & her fears of failing, Missy is proof that hard work, passion & persistence can change your life.
Owens & Company carries a fantastic assortment of home accessories & gifts; Missy strives to buy local, handmade products & a variety of independent + mainland brands. My favorite thing about this local boutique (besides my obsession with her selection of Justine Jones Jewelry) is their excellent customer service. Everyone who visits Owens & Company is greeted with a sincere, «Hello!» & Missy enjoys discovering the other person’s story (who they are & why they’re here), which explains why customers have become friends with the charming owner.
Even though, Missy enjoys her boutique’s success, she’s taking progressive steps to expand her customer base & plans to feature baby gifts, increase the pet section, work on a bedding line, carry home textiles + host more arts & crafts events. I’m positive Missy will reach & exceed every one of her goals which include: designing her own clothing & opening another boutique.
Owens & Company celebrated their first birthday earlier this year (April 2012) & I’m looking forward to how this boutique continues to make positive changes in the Chinatown Arts District. Don’t forget to follow Owens & Company on your social media networks & support local dreamers.

I’ll give you one good reason: They carry Washi Tape!
Yessiree, O&C happens to be one of the few stores in Honolulu that sells Japanese Washi Tape! I love coming here to satisfy my inner scrapbooking urges. Additionally, O&C also carries a sundry mix of candles, soap, stationery, jewelry, and other knick knacks.
One of the best characteristics of this store is its ambiance! The items are neatly displayed and the tables are thoughtfully arranged to allow for free movement inside the store.
And the customer service? Mahhhh-​velous! The shop attendants were very courteous and helpful. I don’t know if I met the owner, but the people I interacted with were incredibly friendly and personable. I got a mini-​tour of the store from one of the associates, despite there being a lot of customers at the time. +1 for O&C!
I intend to revisit this store when I need to restock on Washi Tape. Perhaps sooner. Hopefully they’ll still carry it when I return!

I love bric a brac. I love beautifully decorated rooms that have thoughtful touches. It’s like a borderline fetish. You can easily fuel that here with it’s gorgeousness they have in stock. It ranges from stationary of course to darling little succulents housed in precious locally made tiny pots. It’s so cute it makes me sick that I can’t afford everything I desire in this store. The prices reflect the quality of the items. You’ll find products you won’t find elsewhere on the island.
The shop is beautiful, elegant and not cluttered. A smart store will always leave room to casually browse and Owens & Co. has clearly understood this. The staff are always such sweet outgoing young women. They are very helpful. I notice that they are skilled at making customers feel at ease. Also, for the strictly browsing crowd they won’t treat you any differently than a paying customer. Very professional.
Lastly he Belgian egg white facial soap is BRILLIANT. It has made my face ridiculously smooth as buttah and glowing as if I were knocked up. It absolutely cleared my pores like no one’s business. For $ 6 it’s the best skincare deal around. Seriously, do yourself a favor buy this little Belgian wonder, some Belgian Lambic and some Indian food and call it a night cause you’ll be in ecstasy.

On the corner of Nu’uanu and Pauahi lies Owens & Co and from the moment you walk in you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a beach town (think Lani Kai meets the Hamptons) where folks buy $ 35 candles, have the time to make cake pops and homemade buttons from scratch. They have beautiful pillows, fanciful gift options and stellar taste in coffee table books for those of us with zero imagination.

They even have Pauahi soap that they sell by the cash register. Adorable right? You can tell the owner has put a lot of love into decorating the store and choosing each item. Although I did not dish out $ 35 for a candle that smells like my boyfriend, every time I snuggle next to him I think of that candle. Weird right?
