($ 40/​day for rental car + $ 35/​day for parking) x (hundreds of city busses, tour busses & personal cars) x (tons of tourists & pedestrians playing chicken, crossing the road) /​your Sanity… it’s NOT worth it. If you’re staying for a few days– get an airport shuttle– save yourself the hassle. The resort offers a bus to take you around but you’ll be walking everywhere, anyway. /​/​
Yes, it’s pricey– but it’s also a major resort on beachfront, property. If that’s what you want– then that is what you’ll pay for. :)
Very gracious hotel staff– full of Aloha. Upon check in, we were offered beautiful smiles, friendly conversation, a glass of POG & a wet towel for freshening up. Because our room wasn’t ready, we left our bags w/​the Bell Desk– they were terrific! Perfection!
The rooms were beautiful & though the food/​drink was on the pricier side– there’s nothing like playing on the beach all day long & returning to the resort for the rest of the night, for Mai Tai’s & banana splits by the pool, while enjoying live Hawaiian entertainment. Like I said, it’s pricey– but if you forego the rental car for the days you’re there, it equals out.
When I come back, I’ll be staying here! :)

, the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is the only beachfront resort in the Waikiki Beach zone (I believe). I got my room for $ 169 (–Waikiki connection fee not included).

This hotel was amazing from the time you walk thru the doors you are greeted with smiles and friendliness. Our room was fabulous bed was a little small but no big deal. You can’t get any closer to the ocean than this place. All the restaurants were very good and their activities desk (Garrett) set up amazing tours of the island, Pearl Harbor, etc. Also we had to leave for the airport for night flight but had to check out in the morning, they offer a courtesy room before you head to the airport to clean up and get ready for your long flight… wonderful! Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay here this past week was amazing! You definitely do get what you pay, and by that I mean, you’re paying a lot so I expected the service to be top-​notch. We stayed five days four nights on the 14^th floor of a partial view room.
The room came equipped with two beds, a full bathroom with basic toiletries, a mini refrigerator and the lanai overlooking the waters.
The hotel has some amazing amenities such as their pool, jacuzzi, and 24-​hour gym located in the basement. We did not get the chance to eat at the hotel’s restaurant but the location cannot be beat. Within waking distance there are 3 ABC stores and plenty of local restaurants to try. And can’t forget the amazing shopping experience just mere blocks away.
Waikiki Beach is footsteps away and you can take advantage of the hotel coupons and rent umbrellas and take up discounted canoe rides. I highly recommend utilizing the local trolley service to get around. That alone is hours of free entertainment all throughout some of Honolulu’s landmarks!
The only reason why I won’t rate the hotel 5 stars is due to their expensive resort and valet fees. Valet is the only option for vehicles as there is no option to self-​park and it comes in heavy at $ 35/​day, albeit, with in and out privileges. But with tipping each time, that’ll add to the cost. Additionally, there’s another $ 31/​day for resort fees which includes wifi service up to 4 devices each room.
Overall, like I prefaced earlier, you get what you pay for. The hotel definitely has Hawaiian charm with nightly activities included such as ukelele lessons, lei making, and dances. The entire staff from valet, to guest relations, to housekeeping were polite and prompt. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in the Honolulu vicinity.

Complimentary champagne and flowers. Excellent customer service! Beautiful room and the bar at the pool was amazeballs. Had a great weekend here! We also have a lot of meetings here in the conference room for work. Always a good experience and the food is always great. When you step out onto the beach the view is breathtaking!

I love The Outrigger Reef! I’m very blessed to be able to travel to Hawaii quite often and this hotel is still one of my favorites! I’ve stayed there three times — the last being a few weeks ago. Aloha spirit at its finest, excellent location, awesome rooms and amazing staff! We were extremely fortunate to have an ocean front room and access to their club room Voyager 47 (delicious breakfast and evening appetizers (from local growers/​farm to table), incredible wines and local beers). The relaxing rhythmic sound of the ocean, the view, the sunset, the full moon fully visible from our bed, the smell of the water and air, the people watching and turtle watching from our balcony made our trip even that much more memorable. I highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel that exudes the Aloha Spirit from the minute you arrive!

Booked this stay a while back for our vacation from Texas, to Oahu, then Kauai and back to Oahu. Staying for the night and this place is awesome! Valet parking is $ 35, the customer service there after is just superb. They handed us a cold towel to wipe our face and hands upon getting to the check in desk.
The room and amenities are above par. Everything was so great. The room was up to date and very very nice. Attached bars and restaurants makes it convenient to have a drink or 3 and not worry about getting back.
Would definitely recommend this location. Come get treated like royalty. Will definitely book here again. Aloha and mahalo.

The hotel isnt to bad, very nice pool side with lots of reclining seats, good ocean views and all the shopping is walking distance. Happy hour every day which is pretty good also the musicans are amazing such a good voice to make you feel the aloha spirt!

The «continental breakfast» which is included is toast with some pineapple and a orange juice, not what we expected for the price of the room but i guess its better than nothing.
Also i wouldn’t stay further away from the main strip than this hotel, the Hilton village is way to far from all the action
It takes about 5−10mins walking from our hotel to get to the duke statue :)
I informed them it was my birthday when i arrived and a few hours later i got a knock on my door with a free bottle of champagne.
When we arrived to the hotel straight from our flight from Australia it was 7am and they let us go into a room straight away for 30 minutes to shower and change them we got into our room around midday

Second trip here for a long business trip. First thing they have improved the Internet a little. It can be used for basic work and some video. They have a business center here and it isn’t free. They charge you to print out anything. It’s ridiculous. I needed to print something out for work and they wanted .50 per page and .49 cents per minute.
The mini fridge in the room has no temp control dial. It barely keeps items cold. They have ONE microwave per building on the second floor. Would have been a lot more convenient on every floor.

Beautiful hotel, great location off the beach, wonderful staff. I took off one star because it’s very annoying to get harassed by the Wilton time share people downstairs. They can not take no for an answer.

This is my favorite place to enjoy Happy Hour and Peel N Eat Shrimp poolside. A great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy your favorite cocktails. Nice atmosphere & relaxing while you sit poolside.

This is my favorite place to stay on the strip. I love the décor of the hotel, friendly staff and their ocean front rooms make you not want to leave your room at all. Ocean front rooms had 2 balconies and I was surprised at how large the rooms were. Bed was super comfortable and even better when waking up to the view of Diamondhead at your feet. We also ordered food from the Kani Ka Pila Grille, which was very reasonably priced and it was all really good. Portions were big too.

Stayed here for several nights while on vacation. The location is right on the beach and you can walk to many places in Waikiki. The hotel staff was nice and housekeeping was excellent. The most important thing to me when staying at a hotel is a clean room and the room here was absolutely spotless.
I would have given this place five stars had we not had to deal with the Wyndham timeshare people. You pretty much have to pass them in the lobby area if you want to walk out the front of this place. They are extremely aggressive and will stop at no costs to try to get you to sign up for a timeshare presentation. Having to encounter them was the only unpleasant part of our stay here.

Check in was a breeze. We had reserved an oceanfront room with 2 double beds and they only had a king. We took that, and they said they could switch us the next night when some rooms came available.
Room was spacious and clean. Small balcony with the perfect view overlooking the ocean. The sound of the waves, even through the closed balcony door, was heavenly.
Daily resort fee obviously does not include complimentary use of the business center for guests. I had to swipe a credit card. Over $ 5 to pull up a voucher for an activity we were going to, and to print it. Seriously?
Location is very desirable, directly on the beach. Staff was always very friendly and accommodating. However, beware… there are two desks that say «Club Wyndham» on each side of the lobby and you have to walk by them constantly. That is their «concierge», from what it seems, but they are constant calling out to you as you pass, trying to get you to sign up for activities you want to do that they can get you «free». They just want your time, they say. It’s not a timeshare, we were told. My unferstanding was they want to show you options for their properties all over the world. When I asked if they were trying to sell something, they said «no», however the paper they want you to sign has an income requirement on it.
Every time we walked through the lobby, we avoided getting close to that desk and would not make eye contact. Sometimes, that isn’t even enough to keep from being harassed. Guests should not have to deal with outright solicitation. Especially if they’ve had a very long day, which we had several days like that, and a simple «no» did not always deter them from continually trying to convince you to talk to them.
Despite that, everything else was fabulous and we would definitely book Outrigger Reef again if we return to Hawaii!

I had a very enjoyable stay for my first time in Waikiki. When we arrived to check in we were told where our room was and we felt the floor was a bit low (fear of noise) and the partial ocean view might be too partial (the room was set back from the beach). The representative at the front desk did her best to get us a better room given the limited availability.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and decently equipped. We didn’t do much other than sleep there, so it had all we needed. They did come to clean rather late in the day though. Our balcony overlooked the pool directly, but if you faced in the other direction, we had a decent view of the ocean and the sunset. We had no issues with noise. The pool bar and the accompanying entertainment closed at 9PM. There was a sign asking to respect quiet hours near the elevator. I was thrilled to see that. I am not a night person and would often go to bed on the early side after a full day of touring the island. I have never seen anything like that in a hotel before.
Most of our day activities were planned ahead of time, so we never used the activities desk. However one activity we neglected to plan ahead for was Valentine’s Day dinner. The concierge did not want us to lose out though, so he made inquiries and was able to get us reservations at the fantastic Il Lupino.
The restaurants were pretty decent. We ate breakfast most mornings at the Shore Bird, which has a decent breakfast buffet and it’s right on the beach. I tried both dinner and breakfast at the pool bar/​restaurant and it was pretty good, although not the best meals I had in Hawaii. Karaōke at Shore Bird was fun although I am not sure the process the DJ used to call singer to the mic because some singers were called up for a 3^rd or 4^th song before I could do a second. I had some decent late-​night food there as well.
There is plenty of good beach access. There is a small strip in front of the hotel with rentals for beach toys immediately available. The snorkeling is surprisingly good there. I even saw turtles regularly. You can walk easily to the Hilton Hawaiian Village with its multiple shops and bigger beach area. You have the benefits of the Hilton without the massive, overwhelming property.
There is plenty of stuff in the neighborhood within walking distance, including many good restaurants. The neighborhood is a bit too big city for my taste, but that’s not the fault of the hotel. The hotel provides a trolley that stops in many of the big tourist attractions that aren’t in walking distance.
Overall a great stay. I tend to prefer more low-​key, relaxed, and undeveloped locations (After a few days in Oahu I moved over to Kauai, which was like a breath of fresh air) when I travel, so Waikiki is not necessarily my first choice, but the Outrigger definitely made me more comfortable.

We picked this hotel because of this location. It was not the best deal, but we wanted to be able to stay near the center of Waikiki.
You do have to pay resort fee, just like other hotels.
The valet parking is $ 35/​day plus you tip the valet workers. Ouch :(
What I like:
–Fast and friendly valet.
–They have great amenities: Starbucks, Enterprise car rental, restaurants and stores at the hotel, free activities, a laundry room and a fitness center.
–Easy and friendly check-​in and out. The worker was very helpful.
–Conveniently located within walking distance of great Waikiki places.
–Private beach in the back, a swimming pool and 2 jacuzzi pools.
–Nightly LIVE entertainment.
–Magnifying make-​up mirror with lightning.
–The manager (?) is nice. I messaged the hotel about sending a package to the hotel before my arrival and she replied to me.
What I didn’t like”
–The refrigerator needed adjustment. It wasn’t that cold and we had to keep clicking the button.
–The hair dryer sucks. It stopped working randomly and I had to wait for it to cool down.
— Inconsistent water bottles provided by the hotel. Were we supposed to get this daily?
–The vending machine didn’t work properly.
–The change machine didn’t work.
–No microwave. I had to throw away so many yummy Hawaiian goodies *sigh*
3.5 stars!

This place is nice. Nice location, walking distance from the Waikiki strip, Starbucks in front, stores, market, good size swimming pool (not heated), Jacuzzis, bars, restaurants, laundry facility with detergent and softener vending machine, semi private beach, Enterprise Rent a Car location (you can rent a car per day if you need it. That can save on paying for parking your own there). Fairly secure facility. Elevators will not work without your room key card. Live entertainment! Valets are very nice and fast. In room ironing board, coffee maker for coffee and tea. Fitness center. Spa. Lots of electrical plugs to plug in all your electronics! On the lamps and walls. Water pressure is very good. Activities to do, just ask their concierge.
Now the bad, no microwave, refrigerator had issues staying cold (food got spoiled), coin machine in laundrymat did not work, snack vending machine would not take dollars, only had valet parking ($ 35/​day).

This is such a beautiful hotel. I was amazed. Everyone here was so friendly and accommodating from the start of our trip to the very end. The room was beautiful and had a great partial view of the ocean, but also a view of the pool area and bar downstairs. Ocean access from the hotel as well– always a plus! I’m pretty picky with the softness level of my bed and bedthings, and I was pleasantly surprised that all of the pillows were super comfortable, soft, and squishy– just to my liking!
We never made it down to the hotel’s restaurant, Shorebird, for the breakfast buffet, but we did get down there for karaōke night– a very much appreciated bonus.

On our trip to Hawaii we had the opportunity to stay at the Outrigger Reef (one of two Outriggers on Oahu) and it was a treat. The location really kills… it is stuck among eight or so other hotels — such as the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The ocean is outside the Outrigger’s backdoor… one could not be closer to the water. Many rooms look out on to the ocean and others over the hotel’s pool… all good views. We were here 28 years ago and they have nicely updated just about everything since then.
Amenities are plentiful… a large pool, spa facilities, many restaurants (some ocean side), and most of the other usual stuff. The staff was very attentive and smiley… really gave us a nice feeling; they cleaned up the room nicely every day and left plenty of towels and soaps/shampoo…they did not try to skimp here. Prices… as at most Hawaiian facilities… are relatively expensive, but the Outrigger Reef was not out of bounds. Parking is $ 35 per day but you get unlimited in-​and-​out privileges… if you rented a car you sort of have to use this because driving and parking on Oahu near Waikiki is almost impossible.
The hotel has a desk on the first floor for signing up for Oahu activities (it is an Expedia franchise) and it worked wonderfully… knowledgeable peeps and tons of activities — like submarine dives in the ocean, snorkeling, tours at Pearl Harbor attractions, para-​sailing, hula lessons, hikes (like of Diamond Head), ukulele lessons, and all sorts of other things to do. For tours and trips that pick up off-​site, the bus lines here work together to structure their pickups… for any tour the bus picks up within easy walking distance of the hotel if not right in front of the Outrigger. You really don’t need a rental car for most activities on Oahu — there is usually a bus-​supplied way to get there.
The hotel’s location is within easy walking distance of all the nice fashionista stores (Prada, Kate Spade, Valentino, Ferragamo, etc.) and numerous restaurants if you want to eat outside the hotel. For those that like a little longer walk, you can easily get to the main Waikiki beach from the Outrigger by walking there through the fashion section or by walking the beaches which all connect together (all beaches are state owned… no private property).
We have been here twice and would return. The Outrigger Reef is not resting on their laurels but reinvesting in their wonderful location and facility. Recommended.

I’m not generally a fan of large hotels, especially in touristy areas. So I surprised even myself when I booked a room here for a business trip. But one of my credit cards was offering some sort of partnered special with extra points and upgrades, and the price was right, so I made the jump.
I can’t say that I’m sad I did. This is a pretty decent hotel. The location seriously can’t be beat. While it’s in the midst of tourist ground zero in Waikiki, it’s right on the beach and very close to some of the better restaurant options in Waikiki. The staff is nice and the beach out front is pretty amazing. Each room has a private lanai, too, which is nice.
Downsides include the dated style of the rooms, which harken back to a 90’s or earlier set of accoutrements (not counting the updated flat screen TV). Also Wyndham has an operation on site, which made me wary, but I was never bothered by a time-​share salesperson, so that’s good. But there are gobs of people that seem to be heading out on tours or whatever every day with those folks.
Despite the dated style of the rooms and hordes of tourists, the location, quality of staff, and location (beach location, and location near some of Waikiki’s best eateries) makes this a solid 4-​star option for beachfront lodging! I’d definitely return.

I’m going to break this done as easy as I can.
Front Desk: I was greeted with a smile by Maile. Immediately when I walked to her desk, she stood up and welcomed me. She asked me if I was local and from then on, we were best friends. Lol. She is a very nice and down to earth person. She made me laugh and smile throughout the whole check in process. Make sure to tell her Hi when you check in.
Room: we were on the 5^th floor and had the view of the parking lot next door. No problem because the room itself was nice and clean. Big bathroom and huge comfy king bed. Great room.
Valet/​Parking: Discounted Kamaaina rate is $ 17. Great value vs $ 30 a night. The reason behind my 3 stars comes from my experience with the valet men. First day, we give them our ticket for our car and they take forever and a day. Second day, same thing. This time around there were no other guests waiting for their cars. Still, they took 10 minutes to realize we were standing there. Hmmmmm. 3 valet men talking story and no one to help with my car. Funny thing is, we were directly behind them waiting for one of them to turn around.
The service at the front desk was memorable and great. Valet men were memorable for all the wrong reasons.
