Specialties

Nohea Gallery is a local resource for original handmade art and gifts by Hawaii’s favorite artists. We are here to connect you with the creativity, inspiration, and beauty of these islands.

We offer local artists’ original paintings and affordable prints, top local designers’ handmade jewelry, made in Hawaii koa and other Hawaiian woods including great business gifts, locally made home décor and furniture, ceramics and glass, and made in Hawaii home accessories. If you are looking for beautiful and useful things that are locally made for your home, for your self, for gifts, treat yourself to a visit and see what Hawaii’s artists are making now.

History

Established in 1990.

Nohea Gallery is a local family business. This is a community of artists and customers connecting the Hawaiian Islands with the world. We welcome you to this community. Mahalo for supporting and encouraging the artists of Hawaii.

Our selection of art and crafts is deep and richly varied, drawing from a palette of hundreds of local artisans and artists’ best work. As our prices are based on the artists’ own craft fair prices, you will find them very fair– sometimes much less than our competitors whose prices are based on other priorities than earning repeat customers.

We appreciate your support of local arts and your insistence on ‘buying local’. We understand that the market is flooded with things not really made here, and so appreciate that our discerning customers want to make sure they are choosing gifts and art that are truly made in Hawaii and made in the USA.

Aloha!

Meet the Business Owner

Laurie B.

Business Owner

Until my beautiful Mom posts an update including her information, which is very interesting I promise, here’s mine. Our story has to start with her Mom, my Grandmother.

My Grandmother lived on the Windward side and loved to paint the Ko’olaus and landscapes of Hawaii. We still treasure her paintings. Although she didn’t live to see Nohea Gallery, she loved Hawaii, people, parties, and art, so we think she would be happy with Nohea.

She taught me to love painting, which I stopped doing in 1990. I’ve since picked my brushes back up and am enjoying making art again. I grew up in Manoa, was a silversmith in Cambridge Mass, and worked with Diz Bensley photography studio when we moved to the East Coast for Mom’s studies. I studied energy resources and environmental science at UC Berkeley and speech at UH Manoa.

I am a member of Kanu Hawaii and am on the grants committee for

the Hawaii People’s Fund. In addition to Nohea, I work for sustainability for Hawaii.
