I asked around for the best place to exchange dollars for yen. And all of my friends and colleagues that travel to Japan frequently unanimously said Nalu. I was a little skeptical, being that it’s primarily a clothing store. But sure enough, they provided the best exchange rate. Even better than Pacific Money Exchange, right next door. I was able to exchange $ 700 just walking in. However, if you want to exchange any more than that, you should call ahead and make an appointment.

Been here a few times in the past year, the people who work here are very nice and helpful. The last time I went, a gentleman(I didn’t get his name, but a really polite and cool fellow) offered me one of their stickers and listened to one of my suggestions, which I thought was nice of him. Great customer service, very professional:-) This place is definitely catered towards Japanese tourists, as mostly everything in Waikiki is(FYI: their website is in Japanese), and is frequently featured in Japanese magazines, so the prices are much expensive than what a local or a tourist from the Mainland would expect, but still, I really dig their designs and LOVE the few tees I have from this store. The quality of their stuff is high and I feel you get what you paid for — obviously, if you want those touristy 3 t-shirts for $ 20 or whatever deal, then there’s plenty of those around, but almost always you will get crap quality and crap designs. You know — those things you’d wear when you’re going to wash your car, or usually, are forgotten and never get worn at all. The designs here from Nalu are pretty tight — they’re all original and I was told that they are all designed by a local artist, which is even better. Their tees that they offer for men and women cost about $ 30 for their basic line, and the fancy ones with rhinestones or limited edition run around $ 90 and up. They also sell hats/caps, small accessories and if you buy their tees, they throw in an «Eco-bag» which is nice and quite handy; I have a few of those already(offered in different colors/designs) and use them quite frequently;-) Great place to check out if you’re in the Waikiki area; I recommend this place to anyone looking to find them sweet and freshly designed original tees:-)
