Moana Lani Spa

My boyfriend surprised me with a massage while he went golfing. I arrived at 10am, changed into the super soft robe and waited in the beautiful room looking out to the ocean. Right at 10:30 my massage therapist Tamako greeted me. She showed me to a room and went over the type of massage I was getting. There are a few upgrades that you can get and I highly recommend them. I got the flower aroma and the foot treatment. Never once did my therapist pressure me to upgrade. She then began the massage. It was heavenly! What I loved about the massage was that she laid warm towels on me so that I never got cold. She also focused on parts of my body like my shoulders and calfs that needed more attention, but still took time to massage other areas. After the massage I used the steam room. I was the only one that used it. Even the jacuzzi and dry sauna were empty. I felt like I had the whole place to myself. Overall great experience and one of the best massages I have ever had!

If you are in Wakiki and can only visit one spa, then THIS is the spa that I strongly recommend. You will enjoy every moment of your time there and you will leave feeling relaxed, stress free and happy.
Joanna (maybe Joanne??) is excellent at her job and my massage was really wonderful.
It’s amazing that I can walk in feeling stressed and achy and walk out two hours later feeling pampered and rejuvenated.

I LOVED this spa. My girlfriends and I went for part of my bachelorette trip and it was my favorite part of the entire week! This spa overlooks the beach and you can lounge and sleep listening to the calmness of the waves and breeze of the ocean. The private suites were nice and big, they even chilled our champagne and provided glassware. Absolute A+ for service and atmosphere. The only draw back is that you can’t walk around naked given the huge Windows that overlook the beach, since they were afraid of people looking up and seeing naked people in the spa? I enjoyed it regardless :)

I absolutely love the Moana Lani Spa! I always look forward to a relaxing treatment when I am in Waikiki for a conference or visiting the family. The spa is an oasis in the heart of Waikiki!

I really love spa days, and the ones in the really nice hotels or beautiful settings are usually the ones with the best spa experiences. My mom booked a spa day for her and my dad and me, but sadly this spa was just ok.
It is however in one of the most beautiful (in my opinion) hotels in Waikiki. The entry ways are open and breezy, the complimentary Hibiscus coolers are refreshing and delicious, and the comfy seating areas are welcoming and clean.
The spa itself is sort of average, with his and hers locker areas, a lounge, steam room and sauna and hot tub, but it all looks into the pool area which is full of tourists and kids who can see you and sort of ruin the ambiance.
I had a signature massage, which was pretty good, but was nothing special. The price for the 50 minute massage was way overpriced for the massage and the spa experience, and I would absolutely not go again. Both of my parents had the same remarks about their treatments, not bad, not good, but definitely overpriced. Oh well, on to the next spa!

If you’re willing to pay a pretty penny for a massage then you should deff come here. You get what you pay for and you won’t be disappointed. I come and get massages here maybe every 3 months? When I want to splurge and treat myself to something nice. I’ve had a few different masseuses, and all were very good at what they do.
Last time I came here was for Valentine’s Day with my SO. We got a special that came with 2 glasses of champagne and we got to soak in a hot tub after our massage was over. It was very relaxing and nice.
The waiting area isn’t to fancy. But clean and nice. They have complimentary water, tea and some fruits for you to munch on. There’s also showers a sauna, a whirl pool, and a nice scenic view of Waikiki beach.
The massages are great. The service is great. The view is great. If you got the money for it then deff come and check this place out. Your body will thank you for it.

Location and the spa setting is spectacular. I took my grandma to this spa and she loved it. I’m also planning to take my future sister in law for her bridal treatment. They have various menu but I like package deal.

The Moana Lani Spa is definitely worth checking out if you’re willing to pay an arm and a leg for a massage.
My 80 minute massage was very good, but I’ve had better for a fraction of the cost. The venue is absolutely stunning. You get an open air massage from the second floor room where you can hear the waves crash against the sand. You can stick around for the whole day and enjoy the steam room, sauna, and hot tub. Quite frankly you should when you’re paying as much as you are here.
Overall go and enjoy toe Moana Lani Spa if you’re craving a massage and don’t mind paying for the most expensive massage of your life. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. Would I do it again? No because I’d rather spend my time in Hawaii sun worshiping for free.

Male Experience.
The Venue: Awesome, new, clean with a view and real estate that cannot be matched! When they tell you you have the entire day to enjoy, you better plan on it! Wipe the calendar clean, take all eight hours if you can. Leave go get lunch and return.
Services: My massage was good, not great but good. Depends on who you get and as only been once, hard to say.
Package: Avoid, no value here. I did the Makemake «Wish» and had been better off a la carte.
Skin Care: Perhaps only my experience but the custom facial was custom crap. All I got a wash with a pulsating brush, a poor neck massage and a rub down with the house body lotion.
Take away: Go and get a massage, use the entire time allotted to enjoy the space and the sauna steam etc. Go out get lunch or cocktail and return. Camp for the day.

This is a lovely space with all the amenities you’d expect in this price range. I visited on New Year’s Day in desperate need for relaxation. I reserved a package service called «Dream» which was a massage and facial — each 50 minutes — for $ 245. This also included access to the spa.
Things started with my massage. It was with Wilson who was attentive. That said, his massage was rushed and painful. I have had massages in all reaches of the US and this was the first time I wished the experience be over!
Next was the facial with Denise. Two words. Pure. Heaven. I wish I’d signed up for a long facial and avoided the punishing massage altogether. She made the entire experience relaxing and simply delicious. I didn’t want it to end! If this review was o my for her, it would be five stars.
After my blissful facial I headed to the hot tub and later the steam sauna and a heavenly shower.
Much to my chagrin I had quite the wait to check out due to some computer issue. But wait — there’s more! Some how the «deal» I signed up for included a 20% gratuity. Sure, I probably would’ve tipped as such but only to Denise. Nowhere was I informed that tip of was automatically included. My $ 245 day at the spa ballooned to well over $ 300! WTF?! Sorry it wasn’t worth it. Lesson learned, next time request the experienced service provider and forego the «deal» advertised on the website.

This is by far the BEST massage I’ve received. We frequent spas on the hunt for the type of massage that will blow your mind— Tomomi does just that. She really listened to my concerns and really customized the experience just for me. The staff is really nice and their customer service is impeccable.
The reason I’m not providing them with 5 stars is because their amenities are lacking. You’re not able to make a day of the spa – order lunch and sit in a beautiful area to enjoy it. Their steam room is small and smelled like the inside of a locker room– we’re used to it smelling of eucalyptus or lavender. The hot tub is rather small and I’m really fond of a cold water bathe after all the heat on my body.
But overall I would definitely come back again just to see Tomomi– but if I wanted to have a girls day this wouldn’t be my first choice.

Such a beautiful space. If you want to treat yourself, or give what will definitely be a much appreciated gift, this is the place.
I went for a pedicure and made sure to get there early to make use of the spa facilities before and after. The jacuzzi looks out over the banyan tree courtyard bar and Waikiki beach. Although this is a stunning view on a beautiful day, it was also the perfect activity during the recent bout of rainy weather. There is a lounge, also overlooking the beach, where you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea (be sure to bring something to read so you can stay a while!). It isn’t advertised in the spa, but you can order from the banyan tree bar while you are there, lunch, cocktails, etc, just ask one of the (very helpful) spa attendants.
The pedicure was probably the most expensive one I have ever had, but it was definitely a case of getting what you pay for, it was excellent. I can’t wait to go back!

Moana Lani Spa is a beautiful place. Everyone there is so friendly and the customer service is excellent. The place is very beautiful.
I went for a haircut and color, I love my cut and the color is very rich, I have gotten so many complements. A few people I don’t even know have come up to me to ask me who does my hair. I tell them to see Jan at Moana Lani Spa at the Moana Surfrider. I highly recommend the salon there.

In all aspects of customer service and quality moana lani spa exceeded our bridal shower groups’ expectations! Starting the first time I had called to inquire about accommodating our group the woman I spoke to Akiko was unbelievably friendly and SO accommodating. Throughout the process of booking our day at the spa I had many questions and my group size changed a few times. She even emailed me back at 10pm one night regarding a question I had! Talk about prompt service! Through the whole process of Akiko was so professional and informative it made planning my sisters bridal shower spa day as relaxing as the time we spent at the spa itself. They really care about providing an amazing experience at Moana Lani and I along with the ladies who enjoyed it with me will be back!
Did I mention that we were all Kama’aina? Their Kama’aina program has a bi annual 20 $ fee but you get 30%, thats right 30% discount on massages and facials! On top of that your day at the spa can really be a whole day. They have a sauna, steam room, showers, whirlpool and relaxation area with AMAZING TEAS and a delicious snack all complimentary with any treatment you decide to book.
The massage itself was top notch! Ive been to many resort spas and this is up there with some of the best I’ve been to. Me and my group all got the hot stone massage. My therapist was absolutely wonderful and since I had told her I waitress for a living she focused on my mid to upper back and the muscles around my shoulder with techniques that stretched and massaged my problem spots.
In all I’d recommend this spa to anyone and everyone! Especially Kama’aina! You won’t be treated any differently than a guest of the hotel, that really impressed me. They also gave us some amazing upgrades and other complimentary goodies to make our bridal shower spa day extra special! If i could give them 10 stars I would!

I received a massage as a gift from here. As a guest of the Moana Lani Spa, you can use Moana Surfrider’s valet parking. So after getting my car valeted, I walked towards the right of the hotel and up the escalator to the beautiful Moana Lani Spa. I was escorted to the women’s changing room where I was given a locker. They ask you to remove all clothing and put on their wonderfully smooth and comfy robe. They give you spa shoes, but as a local girl my feet did not fit in there. Good thing I brought my slippahs!
My masseuse’s name was Chien or something, and she was very sweet. I was given a free aromatherapy upgrade, which even if you have to pay for, I highly recommend. I would go with the plumeria. My asked for a lomi massage, and it was good. Normally, I think they go to hard but I had to ask her to use more pressure a couple of times, but she was a little thing, so she might not have had it in her. Still, she did the best that she could. Maybe next time I will use a different masseuse though. After my massage, they gave me a nice chocolate to end my massage experience. It was pretty high quality and absolutely delicious!
When you get a massage, you have access to the spa facilities for the whole day. And you will want to. The bathrooms here have everything a woman might need, just in case you forgot them (they also have razors and shaving cream in the shower; more on that later). Something that may come in handy if you plan to hit the whirlpool! After my massage, I changed into my swim suit (so don’t forget to bring yours!) and hit the whirlpool/​Jacuzzi. After getting my muscles worked on, it was just what they needed. The tub overlooks the ocean, so when you sit back in the tub and look out the window, all you see is blue skies and the sound of the ocean.
After the whirlpool, I hit up the relaxation area where there are some really comfy lounge chairs. They offer some water, trail mix, fruit, and tea here. I recommend the blueberry acai first and then lemon soufflé if you have time, both with those honey pearls. All the chairs face the ocean and they run A/​C there so it doesn’t get too hot. The relaxation room is truly peaceful. You can take a nap, read a book (bring your Kindle!), or just zone out listening to the ocean and quiet!
They also have one of those no-​moisture heat rooms, the word escapes me, but it was nice. The steam room really has a lot of steam which is super awesome for opening those pores and relaxing those muscles. Outside of those rooms, they have washcloths in ice to help cool you down and a couple of chairs to relax in and enjoy the view.
After you are done relaxing you can use their shower rooms to get ready. They have nice clean soft washcloths and towels right there ready for you. They even have shower caps and Qtips for your convenience. The showers are awesome. They are individual stalls with the shower separate from the changing area. They have the handheld shower heads and the rainfall shower head above, which was nice! They have body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the stalls ready for your use. I’m not sure what kind they are, but it seems of good quality and smells ready good!
Back at the locker rooms, they provide you with a hairdryer, hair products, and even deodorant spray in case you forgot to bring yours. I love how they also provide you with a bag to put your wet clothes into. It’s those small things that really make a difference in your experience. As a note: before you check out, try to call down to the valet to have them get your car ready otherwise be prepared to wait about 10 mins.
In addition to my massage, my gift giver purchased a tea and biscuit upgrade which came with a lot of different baked goods and some fruit. I ended up taking it home and sharing it with my family as it was quite a lot of baked goods.
So, just as a tip, make sure to bring these things to your visit: slippers, swimsuit, something to read, deodorant, a hairbrush, and money to tip. They told me the tip was included in the price for the massage, but if your masseuse does an exceptional job you might want to give extra. Also, please don’t forget to tip your valet for running through Waikiki to retrieve your car!

So I decided to return here for a girls spa day after noticing that many of the Unilocal reviews have improved dramatically since my initial visit. Boy, I am glad I did. First of all, this place has really catered to Kama’aina! Their kama’aina membership (for $ 20), which is good for 2 years, gives you a 30% discount on spa services and 15% discount on salon services! What a freaking deal! The spa facilities have had a «face lift» and everything seems fresher and newer than before. The jacuzzi and the lounge are lovely and the overlooking view of waikiki beach is just gorgeous. My deep tissue massage was divine and I received the BEST pedicure i’ve ever had. They even had antigravity chairs so I was «floating» while I got my pedicure. Thank you Moana Lani Spa… I will definitely be back

Kama’aina-friendly!
What usually keeps me away from Waikiki in general is just thinking about where to park, and the (usually) high up-​charge for visiting such a touristy area. The Moana Lani Spa allows even locals to enjoy a luxurious, high-​quality day spa without the usual Waikiki worries.
Complimentary valet parking (or if it’s full, parking across the street at the PK garage, very convenient). They have a Kama’aina program, I believe it is $ 20/​year, which gets you 30% off all services — which makes the pricing much more affordable.
What you’re paying for is pure relaxation and luxury my friends! I don’t enjoy massages much so I opted to just use a day pass to enjoy the spa amenities, however I treated my BF to a deep-​tissue massage, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Meanwhile, I spent almost 4 hours going from the jacuzzi (which overlooks the beach-​front and pool) to snoozing and reading in the relaxation room, which boasts one of the most comfortable lounge chairs I’ve ever experienced.
I left feeling totally revived and hydrated on such a blazing hot day. Thank you to the Moana staff for such a great afternoon in a peaceful, serene and beautiful environment.

Please please if I tell the Moana lani store/​spa receptionist that I will pay upfront for all services and don’t want any add ons… I really mean it! I made it clear to the receptionist to pass onto the massage therapist and esthetician that my mom and dad will not be needing any more services other than the massage and facial I clearly booked online and nothing else since using the spa facilities was included with purchase of a service.
When I came back to pick up my parents there was a bill due for over $ 200. This is the reason I covered the bill, 4.71% tax, and 21% gratuity before I left, so that my parents didn’t have to worry about the bill and of course they didn’t understand that any add-​ons during the service cost additional $$ and was not free.
I don’t appreciate the spa employees «pulling one» over me and taking advantage of my parents’ misunderstanding of how a hotel spa pricing works. Not only did I have to pay for the value of the extra service/​add-​on but also the default gratuity for any service provided as well as tax.
Two stars for 1) the clean facility and 2) the beachfront view from the relaxation room.

I love being pampered and so for my birthday decided to treat myself to a spa day. There are no shortages of spas in Hawaii, but I wanted this particular visit to be special and so I looked for a spa that was complete with a relaxation lounge and jacuzzi. Many spas in the Waikiki hotels are short on real estate so there is really no place to relax after you have your treatment. Not so with the Moana Lani Spa, located in the historic Moana Surfrider hotel. The spa is huge, with over 18,000 square feet, separate men’s and women’s steam rooms, dry saunas and water therapy areas, and a 24-​hour fitness center. Try to top that in Waikiki.
The spa is open daily from 8:00am to 10:00pm and spa guests are granted in and out privileges to the spa relaxation facilities. I arrived to the spa an hour before my appointment so that I could thoroughly enjoy the spa facilities. After filling out some forms, I was taken to the women’s locker room and given a tour. The women’s relaxation lounge is spacious with a lanai that overlooks beautiful Waikiki beach. The lounge is stocked with water, fine tea, fresh fruit and the most delicious trail mix with chocolates (so yummy!).
I had the signature lomi facial and Debbie, my esthetician, had hands that can only be described as magical as she worked on my face. This facial included a neck, hand and foot massage as well so it was very relaxing. All facials are extraction free and performed only on request. I didn’t request extractions, but every inch of my skin was clean and looked and felt sublime. The skin on my face felt firmer, plumper and tighter. I loved every minute of it and immediately texted my friend that we needed to set up a spa day.
Lucky we live Hawaii! The spa offers kama’aina two deals. Either 15% off massage, facials, and spa treatments or membership to their Heavenly Club — 30% discount with a $ 20 enrollment fee that covers two years. I am definitely taking advantage of that offer on my next visit. If you do decide to valet, ask for the spa to call ahead for your car. Depending on the time of day, you could be waiting 15 – 20 minutes.
Whether you’re looking to pamper yourself, spend a day relaxing with your significant other or girlfriends, or treating your Mom, the Moana Lani Spa is the perfect solution. Escape the hustle and bustle of life, if only for a day and leave your worries at the door. I did and it made for the best birthday. Celebrate! You deserve it.

I won a gift certificate for a 50-​min massage, so of COURSE I was going to use it! I’ve had massages before, but my massage at the Moana Lani Spa was probably the best I’ve had to date. It wasn’t just a massage, it was a whole spa experience!
Appointments:
You can set them up online or call the spa directly (like I did because of the gift certificate), but if you do it online, it’ll be easier to see how much the services cost.
Parking:
4hrs of hotel valet is free w/​spa validation. Self parking is at the Princess Kaiulani hotel’s structure.
Service:
No complaints at all! All the staff that I encountered throughout the day were friendly and helpful.
Facilities:
You make an appointment for whatever you want — facial, any kind of massage, aroma therapy, etc — and you get to hang out in the spa ALL DAY (w/​in-​and-​out privileges)! When you sign up for a service, they tell you to check-​in 15 – 30 minutes prior to your appointment because they want time for you to fill out a form, give you a tour of the locker rooms, assign you a locker & all of that, and let you get into the provided robes & slippers. You’ll go off for you service, and then come back to the women’s side or men’s side to enjoy the rest of the complimentary stuffs.
There’s a Relaxation Room where there’s ice water, iced tea, and hot tea (in 3 flavors) available. They had apples, oranges & mixed nuts out for snacking as well when I was in. The room is filled with wicker chairs & ottomans to lounge & relax on while the calming music plays. The view from the room is also really nice! They open up the sliding door to a small lanai and open the windows up to let in the breezy fresh air & tons of natural light!
There’s also a whirlpool jacuzzi, a sauna, & a steam room available for use, so make sure to bring a bathing suit! Even the bathroom was stocked & ready — at least on the women’s side (yay free pads & tampons lol)! When you’re finally done hanging out and spending your time in the spa, they also have fully stocked showers — towels galore, shower caps, q-​tips, disposable razors, shave gel, body wash, shampoo & conditioner!
Overall:
I went to my spa day alone, and I was so relaxed that I ended up staying there almost 5 hours (including the massage time), and I almost didn’t want to leave! I also kind of wanted to steal the super comfy bathrobe, but I restrained myself lol. I know that I went in with a gift certificate, but considering what you really get out of the spa, I would say it’s worth the actual price (and yes, I looked at the actual prices)! It’s definitely the kind of thing you should take a few hours to enjoy!
