We absolutely love our maternity & christmas portraits that Marella took. Her talents definitely show through her photographs. Not only is she very professional by responding quickly to our emails & having an uncomplicated payment process, she’s also very sweet & makes you feel comfortable to work with.
She knows how to capture those sweet moments along with Hawaii’s beautiful scenery in the background. We had our session at Lanikai Beach & she was able to make all these beautiful colors of the sunset, mountains & ocean pop out. She also knew how to make our puppy take pictures haha.
I highly recommend Marella without a doubt!

We used Marellas services for our Twentieth-​wedding anniversary photos. My wife found Marella searching online and loved her work. Completely satisfied with the experience. Easy to deal with, responsive to communications and questions, and most importantly, a great photographer! This was the second time we use Marella for our family photos and just like the first we couldn’t be happier! We are so happy with the photos and Marella. She was great the first time with our then one and a half year old. We now have a second and she did a wonderful job getting some amazing shots of our 9 month old and now two and a half year old.

We had a destination wedding in Kualoa Ranch, it was really hard to plan a wedding from Seattle, but even from our 1^st contact, Marella was flexible and easy to work with! Marella is awesome! She did my family photos during our stay at Aulani in May. I found her online through Unilocal.Prior to meeting, all correspondence were via email. She is very responsive and answered all my questions. Her contract is detailed so there were no surprises. She uses PayPal to accept payments and DropBox to deliver photos for download. A very smooth transaction and delivery.
At the time of the shoot, my three year old daughter was jumping all over the place. I feared she was not able to get any good shots of her. But when we received the photos, we were amazed that she was able to captured beautiful movements of my family enjoying the sunset on the island especially my daughter. She is truly an artist. I wished she lived in Northern California so she can be our official family photographer.

Marella is an absolutely unbelievable business owner, and does incredible work. After looking at her blog and hearing her rates, I booked a session for earlier this month. The day before the session, she had a family emergency, but because Marella is an incredible business owner, she had us shoot with one of her associate photographers.
The areas she had us shoot and the angles with the sun were so beautiful, and the pictures came out exactly as I wanted them. We stayed at Turtle Bay Resort, and shot there. I am just so pleased with how this whole thing played out, and this was all because of Marella’s business practices and amazing work. Highly recommended!

Beyond words… AMAZING!!! I could not think of a more perfect way to celebrate our 10^th wedding anniversary than our family portrait session at secret beach with Marella. As we were married on the big island of Hawaii, we planned a return vacation with our children. All I asked my husband for was the gift of family portraits during our stay at Aulani. Like many men, my husband is not the biggest fan of family portraits, but our session with Marella was an exception… A truly extraordinary exception. In the most picturesque setting, we played in the water, walked on the beach, felt the sand in our toes, gazed out into the water, listened to our children laugh and giggle, held hands, and looked into each other eyes to celebrate 10 years of marriage. And the most amazing part was Marella captured it all with expertise, ease, and the most artistic eye. I will never forget that hour, that sunset, that memory, and we have the pictures to look back on forever. A huge thank you to Marella for capturing this amazing trip and memory for us!!! The photos were delivered quickly and with ease. We had to have them ALL!!! Aloha!

Marella did our photography for our wedding in a park. We found her online, and I loved the pictures on her website. Three really great things:
1. Great communication, even when we’re 5 time zones apart. We live in Chicago, so ALL our communication was virtual. She was really great about emailing, flexible about phone calls, and made me feel really comfortable, even though we didn’t meet her until I was actually putting on my wedding dress.
2. Her pictures were beautiful and captured exactly what we wanted. I sent her a few pictures of us ahead of time (some of my favorite candid shots), and told her a bit about our personalities. She absolutely captured that the day of our wedding. There are sweet moments, fun moments, and throughout the photos you can see the genuine excitement of the day.
3. She was accommodating to our unusual wedding. The schedule was nutty, we had quite an adventure with the location, and took pictures in a lot of public places (that’s what we get for getting married in a national park!). She completely rolled with it and took great shots despite the challenges.
I am so pleased!

Marella took our family photos just this past August while we vacationed on Oahu. After doing some extensive research on-​line I fell in love with her amazing photographs and style and decided to contact her. She quickly responded and we set up a date and time.
Once on Oahu I had picked out the place I wanted the pictures taken but an endangered Monk Seal had taken residence at the same beach and the beach was closed. Marella was very accommodating and open to make a location change or day change last minute if necessary. Luckily, the Monk Seal left a few hours before our photo session so we were able to use our preferred spot.
Marella arrived right on-​time and couldn’t be more professional yet personable. She was patient with our six-​year-​old and three-​year-​old daughters and took many beautiful family portraits as well as some great ones of me and my husband. The lighting and colors were amazing. Her style is a perfect combination of classic yet artistic with excellent composition .
Since returning home to CA I’ve followed some of her photography on FB because I love her photographs so much. My husband and I got married on the Big Island eight years ago and flew our photographer over from CA because I was so particular. I only wish I had known about Marella as I love the photographs she took better than our wedding photos!

We contacted Marella after a quick google search to take family pictures for us on our recent trip to Hawaii.
Her communication was excellent, especially with the 6 hour time difference from us in Orlando.
We left it to her to pick a spot and we are very happy with what she picked. We have beach pictures, water pictures, and even some in the field.
We had our 18 month old and she was able to get wonderful shots of her but most importantly of us as a family and some of my Husband and I (as the real reason we wanted new pictures for our 5^th wedding anniversary was our wedding pictures were horrible!)
Ive already referred her to our friends who will be visiting for their Honeymoon.
She’s truly an artist and gets some amazing photos. Our family and friends in FL are in awe of what the scenery looks like in our photos. Even joking that we looked photoshopped in. She also has the eye to get those wonderful candids you weren’t expecting to turn into amazing shots. We would definitely use her for every important function if we lived in Hawaii. I recommend you should too!

Last summer my family (5 year old and 7 year old) took a vacation to Oahu. I wanted to get our family photos taken while we were there, so I scoured the internet looking up every photographer I could find on Oahu. I’m a family photographer myself, so I had pretty high standards and a distinct look I wanted — natural colors, well exposed, no crazy photoshop shenanigans, and images on cd. It was not easy, but Marella’s style was just what I was looking for and her price was very reasonable.
We talked through email and set up a time to meet and picked a meeting location on the North Shore where she’s based. We started at Matsumoto’s Market for some shave ice pics and then Marella mentioned a spot she saw was great flowers off the road wanted to shoot at. Of course I loved that! We then followed her to the next spot with a great green mountain in the background (did outfit change off the side of the road) and then we headed to the beach for sunset.
I have to say some of our favorite pics were after our session was over. Mirella had packed up her gear and was getting ready to leave when my 5 year old daughter decided to start a family water fight in the outdoor shower area at the beach. In our clothes we all started splashing each other as the water came out of the showers. It was getting pretty dark at this point, but Marella pulled her camera back out and her assistant pulled out a flash and the two of whipped up some cool backlit photos.
Soon after our vacation was over and we were getting back into our CA schedule again, a cd arrived with a ton of edited images. Marella was a pleasure in person — professional and friendly. And she does great work. 2 thumbs up!

Marella came highly recommended from friends of mine who had used her as a wedding photographer and I was 100% onboard to work with her from the get go!
I loved the way that she composed our shots — she was always looking around the environment for diverse and interesting ways to capture us. We got married on Waimanalo beach on New Year’s Eve, so there was obviously a TON of beautiful light and atmosphere for her to play with.
I loved the way that she took the time to capture not only the physical details of the wedding, but quiet moments between guests — some of my FAVORITE pictures from the wedding are pictures of friends and family that she was able to capture when I was off absorbed in the rest of the affair!
She not only works magic with color and lighting in the tropical setting, but she’s a sweetheart to boot… She totally fit in with the crowd and did a fantastic job of being a part of the wedding… Meaning that the photos did not feel like they were taken by an ‘outsider’ — there was a very natural, comfortabe feel and the finished products are as stunning and professional as can be…
Use her! You won’t regret it…
