A8 Airport Shuttle

This shuttle is way better than any shuttle or taxi! You may pay a little more, but who cares when their service is excellent and stress free! Once I got off my flight, I was instructed to call A8. However, he called me first to let me know he was waiting outside. He also told me to call him again once I reached the baggage area so he can tell me exactly where to meet him. Where we met was a quick 30 second walk. On our way to our condo, he gave us some tips where to eat and what activities to do in Hawaii! We didn’t have to worry about any other hotel stops because they only take one family in their air conditioned shuttle. It took us 20mins to our condo instead of an hour. We were very happy with the service we reserved again when we leave. The price we paid for a party of 5 was $ 50. Round trip $ 100.

I have always used airport shuttles whenever my family and I travel. I gave this Company a 5 star because of the following:
PROFESSIONAL: when booking, the person was personable, professional and gave me specific instructions. After retrieving my bags, the driver was waiting for us. Our driver Chris was so friendly and such a safe driver. He kept good conversation!
VAN: The van was very clean, didn’t smell like smoke and in good working conditions. Other shuttle companies that I used; the vans were in poor condition– was afraid we would bit make it to the airport, busted mirrors and definitely had cigarette smell!
Hr helped us with unloading our bags to the door. Even after he dropped us off, he continued to have a conversation with us! I am definitely going to use them for all my travel shuttle needs!
I cannot express how satisfied I am with the service the have given! I also took the recommendation of other Unilocal users!

Stayed in Waikiki area, and called them a day before we needed a pickup at HNL. super easy to work with. used them 3x during our stay in Honolulu with excellent service each time.
Chris picked us up for 2 trips, and he was the epitome of professionalism and friendliness. great chatting with him during the drives to and from the airport with our group of 6 (!). He even knew a little Japanese to speak to the in-​laws…
During this time it was $ 60 for 6 of us, and the final trip for 4 passengers was $ 35.
Missed out on getting Chris due to a miscommunication with dispatch for the final trip, but dispatch (Moon?) got us taken care of promptly with another driver.
Will definitely use again when we’re next in Honolulu!

Fantastic, professional, inexpensive service. Only $ 35 to take a family of 4 and 7 suitcases from Waikiki to the airport at 4:30 AM. Was promised a mini van to handle all the luggage and a courtesy call 15 minutes prior to pick-​up. Our driver, Chris, called to let us know he would be there a bit ahead of schedule and described his van. He was courteous and helpful, even though we were running a bit behind schedule. I HIGHLY recommend A8 airport shuttle service and will certainly use them again when we need a shuttle in Hawaii. Forget Roberts or cabs — use A8!

Excellent prompt service. Couldn’t have been any easier. We were off the plane and on our way to the hotel within minutes.

I’m not sure why A8’s taxi/​van prices for a ride from the airport to the Waikiki area is so much more than the base rate of other taxi/​van prices (about $ 30-​$ 35). We were quoted $ 60 for a pick-​up to our hotel on Waikiki

Booked our reservation kind of last minute the day before our trip. Our driver was waiting for us as soon as we got off the plane and was very friendly! Gave us suggestions about things to do in the area and you can’t beat the flat rate fee to drive us nearly 25 minutes from the airport to the hotel. Lincoln Town car was pretty old but it got the job done. Thanks!

Called ahead and made my reservation. When I landed I received a text and with number to call once I had my bags. Walked out the door and the George was there to greet me in a nice, comfortable, and clean car. He loaded my bags and off we went. Very pleasant conversation with some great tips on restaurants.
Return to the airport just as good and friendly. On time, and text with approximate time of pickup. Prices very good and I highly recommend this company. I plan to use them on all my return trips to Hawaii. If I could give six stars I would!!!

Staying in Waikiki, the CEO (my wife) tasked me with finding a reliable shuttle/​taxi service to our hotel. Therefore, before leaving Los Angeles for the surf of Oahu, I surfed Unilocal and found A8 Airport Shuttle. Before coming across A8, I took a look at other airport shuttle service companies, but they seemed to have a lot of dubious reviews.
A8 seemed to have the most honest reviews and the most positive reviews from Unilocal Elite members. Also, their price of $ 35 was in-​line with other airport shuttle services and an added plus was that we would be the only passengers in the vehicle.
Therefore, I made a reservation with George and provided him with my flight and contact information. Upon touching down at Honolulu International Airport, George called me and said that Chris was waiting in a white Dodge minivan by the tour bus area. Now that’s service!
After getting our luggage, we met Chris, a friendly transplant to Oahu from Hong Kong. As he drove us towards Waikiki, in passing, I asked him if he knew of any places that sold opihi (cross between an oyster and abalone). Chris responded that Tamashiro Market nearby had opihi and that he would take us there for no extra charge! So yes, Chris took us to the market and waited for us as we bought some opihi and spicy poke. Moreover, driving into Waikiki, he gave us some tips on places to try and things to do and was a really chill braddah (Hawaiian term for bro).
As our vacation in paradise and the land of pale Asians with «selfie sticks» winded down, due to my über Type-​A personality, I called A8 the day before to confirm pick-​up. George answered and said that A8 would be there.
Again A8 showed up early, and this time it was George who pulled up in a Lincoln Towncar. Turned out that George was a transplant from Daegu, South Korea and had been in Hawaii for 30+ years. He even added that our down-​to-​earth driver, Chris, was actually the owner of A8!
First and last impressions mean a lot and the drivers at A8 really exemplify the aloha spirit. We will definitely use A8 again on return trips to Honolulu.
So save yourself stress and just have A8 take you to your hotel. I never found out what A8 stood for… I think it might stand for «ah-​eight» as in aiite/​alright!

Awesome shuttle service to/​from the Honolulu airport.
I called them the day before I arrived in Honolulu to schedule my pick up from the airport to my hotel in Waikiki. I called them again as soon as I got my luggage from baggage claim and communication was really great — the owner told me that the car of the driver who was scheduled to pick had broken down but that he was sending another driver my way asap. I only wait around 15 minutes for the other driver to arrive, in a minivan, no less! $ 35 flat-​rate to Waikiki with a mini-​van all to myself and a nice driver — you can’t beat this!
I called them again the day of my departure and the driver picking me up arrived right on time and even texted a few minutes before he arrived to let me know.‘
Overall great service and will definitely use again if I’m ever in Honolulu again.

Excellent door to door service! Enjoyed my conversations with George upon arrival and departure! I was the only one in the car both trips.
Excellent communications prior to both pickup: from airport and from hotel. If I get another chance to return, I would call them again.

Just do it.
You are going to find other airport-​to-​Waikiki-​and-​back services that are less expensive by $ 10 – 15. They are not worth it. If the money is that important, have a Subway picnic on the beach one day instead of going out for an expensive meal. You are in paradise, you spent a lot of money to get here, and you DO NOT want to waste that precious time on some other service.
We made that mistake. I pre-​booked VIP trans to and from the airport before our trip, and our pickup experience was stupid. Ok, it started out ok. I easily found the guy, where he said he would be, holding a sign with our name. But instead of a van, as I was envisioning, we were crammed onto a small bus that didn’t leave on time, and the driver had poor social skills. Plus it took forever to get to Waikiki.
We decided that we weren’t dealing with that nonsense catching our flight home. Our airline only had one flight per day going to our home state, and missing a flight could mean a thousand or worse in the hole that we weren’t expecting to spend. So I canceled my return trip with VIP, and booked with A8.
When I called, there was no waiting on hold, the person answering the phone was friendly and responsive, and he arrived at our hotel to pick us up a few minutes early. He got us to the airport in about 15 minutes. He was friendly, but not awkwardly over-​talkative. It was just perfect and I wish I’d just booked with them in the first place.
Don’t waste precious Hawaii time to save $ 10! Just go with these guys!!!

We could not have had a better experience! We called him as soon as we got off the plane (we had scheduled him prior) and as we walked out of the terminal BAM! He was right there and we didn’t need to wait at all! There was also no waiting around for anyone else either. We were the only ones in the van. He was friendly to talk to and took us straight to our hotel. Plenty of room in the van for our luggage and the van was clean. I was pretty worried because most of these airport shuttles seem like scams, but since we didn’t pay anything at all until we arrived at the hotel, I figured we had nothing to lose. All that worry was for nothing. I would use A8 again in a heartbeat!

So we made the mistake of trying the shuttle service we saw advertised everywhere for the trip from the airport to the hotel. Like Kit mentioned… Full shuttle, 1+ hr and 10 other stops later we arrived. While in the shuttle I did some research ad realized there were other options for almost the same price! For $ 5 more we got a direct ride, right away and the driver, Chris, was early, professional and very nice. Not to mention a clean vehicle. I would recommend this option to anyone.

Fantastic service from these guys. I did make sure to call them the day before to confirm. They showed up 15 minutes early, which I didn’t mind at all. They called to inform me they were early & I appreciated that.
The driver was very friendly & a good driver. Knew a quick way to the airport & got us there super early. No mess no hassle. Highly recommended.
Note: If you pay with credit card they have to charge you like 7% more.

used A8 for transport from HNL to a downtown hotel.
Reasons I would recommend A8:
1) Very friendly and accomodating. I called to make a reservation less than 12 hours before our flight arrived, and was given ZERO grief.
2) I called after picking up checked bags, and our driver was already at airport waiting for us. Again, person on phone and driver both very friendly. In our case (5 passengers) vehicle was a minivan taxicab — hired out/​contracted to A8, I suppose (did not bother me except that it was not a shuttle bus and we had to install car seats for the young kids).
3) All in all, very friendly and efficient. No logistic problems at all.
Reasons I would hesitate to recommend A8:
1) Rate $ 45, which is what I am told is similar to regular taxi rate. So no or little cost savings. Plus, I tipped on top of this.
2) 5% charge for credit cards. This is a big drawback for me personally, especially since I’m not really saving money for the inconvenience.
3) minor issue: driver kept a distance of about 10 ft behind car in front of us, even on highway. ok to be in rush, but I do not like feeling borderline uncomfortable.
overall, I will be looking for another option for the time being.
UPDATE: Took regular taxi from hotel back to HNL. During rush hour. With the meter running (of course). Total: $ 41.50 (before tip). Honda Odyssey. This confirms that A8 was not less expensive than a metered cab.
Again — to be fair — the service was seamless on the way from HNL to hotel. But my conclusions above stand.

After reading Kit H.‘s review of A8, I thought I would give it a try. A few weeks ago I went to HNL for a few days and needed a right to and from Waikiki. I am very pleased I went with A8.
1. They are cheaper than a cab to Waikiki.
2. They showed up early, so there was no wait.
3. Like Kit H. says. there is no sharing a packed van with others.
4. The drivers are professional and courteous.
5. There is plenty of room for your bags.
