I’ve always heard about how great Little Village is, and finally got around to eating lunch here the other day. Everything was delicious, definitely some of the best Chinese food in Hawaii! We tried the orange chicken and black pepper beef and pork gyozas, all were very tasty. The customer service was great too. I will be back to try more on the menu!

Great place to entertain guest from out of town for Chinese food. Especially if you want to expose them to Chinatown without having to deal with rude service which is typical here but by no means personal. It just a way of life. But hey back to the restaurant. The food was excellent and I would recommend it. Atmosphere not to noisy and the staff attentive. The service was s little slow between courses so don’t expect to eat and run.

I love foods and am local Chinese American. I had done both dinne-in and take out before, and today(01/28/2016) I had the minute chickens fried noodles, and once again it turned out the food tasted SOSALTY, just like my past experiences with this restaurant. I couldn’t even taste the foods, and it is so unhealthy when that much salt and/or some sort of sources added. I hope the owner and other patrons can see this review and do something for the better. Unless this restaurant changes its way of cooking, I highly encourage others not to eat there as much because it can be very unhealthy for our bodies.

We went here for dinner because my hubby wanted to try it & we were celebrating my birthday. The décor is nice and looked clean. The floors had a few sticky spots but it could be because they put us near the bus station near the bathrooms. My hubby’s mom, uncle, Aunty, and cousin came along with my great Aunty, and our 3 boys. Our boys are 4, 2, and 3 months. It’s a good thing they stuck us back there because my 2 oldest love to visit the bathroom. The bathrooms are ok. No foul smells just one stall. Plus the kids especially the baby can make a good amount of noise so the clanging dishes cancel out the their noise. We ordered the spinach salad, honey walnut shrimp, Peking duck and bao buns, char Sui, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, sweet & sour pork, steamed fish, and Jajangmyeon. The salad and shrimp was tasty. Can’t mess up salad. I have had better honey shrimp tho. I would of liked to have crispier skin on the duck tho but it was still tasty. My boys loved the duck tho and the shrimp chips. They are easy to please. The beef, chicken, and pork also tasty but not the best. I should have taken pictures because the beef, chicken, and pork was the same dark orange color which is weird. Throw them on the same plate and mix. You can’t tell what is what. My hubby liked the steam fish which is saying a lot since he’s a cook. He’s hard to please. The Jajangmyeon … Uh… Was different. I should have known just by the color that this was not Jajangmyeon. It tasted more like chili oil. I like spicy so the little kick didn’t bother me. I don’t think they should call it Jajangmyeon or even black bean noodles. It doesn’t taste like that at all. Whatever it is I liked it. Overall, the food was ok and served quickly. The waiters come by often offering water & tea. Glad we got to try it but chances of going back are slim.

I give this restaurant 4 stars because of the good service. This place was packed when we came in but got lucky, it took us less than 10 minutes to get a table for two. We ordered Peking duck, calamari and Kung pao chicken! The food came out within 15 minutes which was great because it was a packed night! I liked the Peking duck, the skin was crispy and the sauce was just right taste for it . The fried calamari was good, I liked it because it was not salty and the the squid tasted fresh. I did not like Kung pao chicken dish because, it was a little greasy and salty. Hint: make reservation, they reserve and set up table for you.

Been here a couple times before and since it was about a year ago so can’t really remember in details and usually when I go out with friends or by myself rarely had I paid much attention to the content and little did i notice that time and experiences had taught me great life-long important lessons that it is occasionally important to have some foodie friends because they just might know their way around to find real delicate delicious ambrosias and so I knew this place through school connections and I like the family style of dishes and for sure will go back again next time when there is a chance.

If there is a better Chinese restaurant than Little Village, I haven’t found it. I’ve eaten here many times, had many different dishes and they all excellent. My favorite is the salt and pepper shrimp with the head on and Szechuan chicken. Service is excellent, the food is served in reasonable amount of time. The price is very reasonable. Let me put it this way, I was full ½ way into the meal and was talking about a doggie bag but I could not stop till everything was gone, soooo oishi!!!

Excellent Chinese food. Tonight we had: crispy won-ton, garlic fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, spicy Szechuan chicken, and(my favorite) choi sum with oyster sauce. Everything was delicious. The garlic fried rice was a little on the oily side, but it was still quite tasty. Their salt and pepper shrimp is the highlight: the seasoning and crispness can’t be beat. It’s not meant to be peeled, and if you do, you miss the best part. The spicy Szechuan chicken is spicer than I remember in the past, but nevertheless is tender, flavorful, and filling. Excellent service, we were seated quickly, our waters were always refilled, and our food came out right on time. Prices are reasonable: our bill for our entire meal was less than $ 60 Parking is easy to find and if you’re lucky to score some in the back, someone is there to watch your car. Love it here!

Why did it take me so long to get here? Chicken salad dressed perfectly. My daughter ordered the Char Siu and I was a little annoyed. Why order that here? Boy was I surprised. They service it with just a touch of a liquid sauce with some kind of liquor. Subtle and perfect. The Taro Duck was crispy and delicate. Chinese food without the being heavy and greasy. No here was the topper. The waiter/server was awesome. We sat at a table with a lazy susan. To prevent it from getting too crowded, He perfectly divided the salad and noodles into 5 portions so could remove the serving trays. I don’t expect that kind of care at this price point. I’m usually expected curt rude service in Chinatown. I will be back again soon.

Some good dishes, some not so good. The Minute Chicken Fried Noodle was fantastic, definitely the highlight of the evening. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was a close second. The Mu Shu Pork was good but not great. The Volcano Pork Chop wasn’t very good, despite its best attempts and presentation. The Mother of All Fried Rice had an odd fishy taste to it, as if it was cooked in a pan that hadn’t been thoroughly washed. A passable meal overall, but even the best dishes here I’ve had much better versions of at other restaurants.

Cheap, good, doesn’t fill you up and make you feel like death. Those are my three main goals whilst looking for Chinese food. If you get lucky and get one of the tables with the lazy susan you are in luck. I recommend 1 entrée per person and 1 app per 2 people and eat like you’ve been stranded on an island and this is your first meal. What I recommend eating Orange chicken Szechuan chicken Mochi beer stir fry(#91) its glorious Steamed noodles(app) potstickers(app) Whole duck anything really because its all good and you wont be mad finish off the night with some mochi and then go home. nurse your food baby, and fall asleep at 7pm never to awaken again because you’ve reached your peak in life. That’s how I feel about LVNH. Feel free to doubt me, but that would be silly because I eat a lot.

Traditional Chinese food that actually stands out in Hawaii is worth a written review eh? The 4 star rating is for the food flavor and experience, but I would gladly give 5 for some of the best Honey Walnut Shrimp I’ve had and THEBEST Peasant Chicken. Boom. I can’t get these dishes made like this to my sincere liking anywhere else in HI so this place is on the top of my list for just that. Peasant chicken is a whole chicken cooked in the freaking ground by the way. I’d suggest this if that could be your thing or if you just love thanksgiving. I’ve tried too much to mention and they were all yummy and I was all lazy. Packed with flavor. Regular portions. Bustling little late night restaurant that’s perfect for a family dinner or a big group of drunken friends. Come. Eat. Be merry.

As another team mate left the company, we were treated to a going-away lunch at this restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. This was how I was introduced to Little Village Noodle House and I’ve loved it ever since. Usually, I do take out from this place as I want Chinese food for dinner but I’m not nearly brave enough to venture through Chinatown by myself at night. The delivery service of choice — Aloha 2 Go. Some of my favorite items from here: BLACKPEPPERBEEF — flavorful, slightly spicy, tender pieces of beef cooked with garlic, onions, and, of course, black pepper. DRYBEEFCHOWFUNN — I’m not a big fan of saucy noodles, so I love the dry chow funn. While it has dry in its name, don’t think that the chow funn noodles are crispy and tough. What they mean by dry is that there is no sauce or gravy. It’s wide, flat, chewy noodles stir fried with green onions, bean sprouts, and tender pieces of beef. So good! I always worry that the beef will be super tough or just hard to eat, but the way Little Village cooks their meat is perfect. It’s always tender and seasoned well. PANFRIEDPOTSTICKERS — I got the potstickers with chicken and chives. It was nothing special, your standard potsticker. BEEFBROCCOLI — beef was seasoned well and I loved the broccoli. It was cooked to perfection — still has a crisp crunch when you bite into it, but not raw. GREENONIONPANCAKE — I saved the best for last. My absolute favorite item on the menu. It’s so simple yet so good! It’s just batter with green onions that is pan fried(crispy outside, soft inside). They serve it with their own ponzu sauce to give a vinegar-y kick. A must try if you haven’t had it yet.

In a town with oodles of Chinese restaurants, Little Village stands out as a long-time favorite. Couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been there and I’ve never been disappointed. Great for carnivores and vegetarians(lots of veggie options and tofu can be easily substituted for dishes with meat), for the play-it-safe, and the adventurous, and for the wimpy and those who like it hot. Wonderful place to bring visitors and good for families and groups. You can make reservations for lunch or anytime for groups. There’s an extensive menu and specials on the chalkboard. I’ve introduced many people to this place. My favorites? The list in long: Volcano pork chops, dried string beans(with or without pork), garlic fried rice, beef broccoli, sizzling shortribs, Szechwan spicy chicken(not really spicy; just don’t eat the peppers), curry eggplant with tofu, potstickers, mu shu roll, crispy would ton, grilled or fried chicken wings, pecan spinach salad, Chinese chicken salad, and soft won ton in spicy soup(only medium spicy if you don’t have much of the broth). The only thing I didn’t like was the beef stew and tendon noodle soup. I was so looking forward to but didn’t care for the flavor. I cannot eat shrimp, but I understand the honey walnut shrimp is a favorite of those who do. Smith Street is a one-way heading mauka(toward the mountains). There is a small parking lot just beyond the restaurant on the right, or street parking, a surface lot and a garage all nearby. Lots of buses stop at Hotel and Smith: 1, 2, 3, 9, and 13. From there the restaurant is less than a block away, just past Lucky Belly. Exercise a bit of caution late at night.

Came for dinner and it was nice to escape the busy, touristy spots. We were seated right away and it was relatively low-key. My parents live here and they love this place and go all the time. Our server was nice, and the service was quick. Dishes came out as they were ready, instead of everyone getting their entrees together. We did have leftovers, and I do think ordering 3 entrees for 4 people would have been just right. We started with the potstickers which were good; definitely get them fried. We also tried the pan fried beef, spicy garlic shrimp, lemongrass chicken and dried beef chow fun. The lemongrass was a lighter dish and the spicy garlic shrimp definitely have a kick to them. They were too spicy for me. The dried beef chow fun was good, a tasty and hearty noodle dish. I liked trying a little bit of everything. Rice doesn’t come with anything, so expect to order that and pay about $ 2 extra.

**Honolulu, Hi in Down Town China Town. I attended a gathering thrown by the one and only Terry K. and I feel so honored that she gathered all her close friends together to welcome me back home for the summer!!! I’ve only known her through Unilocal but never met anyone in person until this event! I’d rate this event 10 stars if I could but there was no event flyer uploaded so I’m rating the restaurant 4 stars. I wish I can say what we had as far as food but the menu was already pre-set and the food just kept coming and coming and coming and I have no idea how much everyone paid. I thought I was going to chip in some money, but we also drank wine and champagne that they brought. No I do not drink lol. K. K do NOT drink. Desserts only! Then we got up and left and I was confused because I did not pay anything! So I asked someone and they said to not worry, that everything is taken care of! Everyone is so nice!!! :) **Food quality was great, if you’re looking for authentic foods from China/Hong Kong. **BIGGROUPS? This restaurant is PERFECT for large groups! We had at least 12 – 15 people. Just call and ask about reserving the private section in the back or side of the restaurant. **BYOB you can bring your own alcohol, just ask what they charge as far as fees per person. **Parking — there are lots you can park nearby for a small fee and also down below the restaurant for a small fee. **Desserts — We TRIED walking over to WING shave ice/ice cream nearby but it was closed! Apparently the owner makes his own hours! So I was without dessert that night. But I did manage to come back a few days later. :) Thank you so much my dear friend Terry K. for your hospitality and generosity and kindness for allowing me into your ohana, I felt so comfortable and felt like I was at home and everyone was so NICE and sweet. I had a lovely time. Thank you to Paul C. for all the lovely leis you gave me this past summer! I really miss you guys, Brian, Dave, Kathy, Li, Lien, Rod, Jo, Michael, Eric, umm sorry I cannot remember everyone!!! Can’t wait til next summer!!! Thanks for reading!!! :) ~*Kenzie*~

Since hubby and I have been eating mostly Japanese and local foods in the past few days, we decided to try Chinese food and I chose this place based on reviews on Unilocal. It was a fairly busy restaurant but we were seated right away, and there were diners of all races(so not just catering to a particular crowd). In terms of taste, it wasn’t bad but I’ve definitely had better. The flavors were somewhat traditional. Portions… holy molly. My honey walnut shrimp(something I crave for but not available back home)… $ 18.50 for 10 shrimp. Clams in black bean sauce? $ 16.95 for 10 clams, mind you they were huge in size. We filled up on the fried rice and steamed veggies. Our four dishes filled the two of us up(our son ate only a bowl of rice) only b/c we weren’t starving. Service was pretty decent but I think I will try a different Chinese restaurant next time.

Portions here are on the small side. Walnut shrimp: 4 stars Potion is small, I expected it to be bigger. Taste is good but shrimps were small too. Squid: 4 stars Crispy, a little on the salty side but still good. Seafood crispy noodles: 3 stars A bit on soggy side but portion was small too. Shiitake mushroom w/vegetables: 3 stars Mushrooms were in the small side. Décor & ambiance: B Simple Chinese family restaurant nothing fancy here. Service: A Attentive, came to check up on us & filled our teas & waters. Overall: 3.5 stars Not the best Chinese restaurant that I’ve been to, but this is good by Oahu standards because they don’t have as many restaurants as California does.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time. At the same time, I’ve heard radio commercial about this place which made me think twice. But I’m glad I tried this place today. Free parking is available left side of the restaurant entrance. Do not park at those park & pay unless you want to donate your arm & leg. This restaurant is spacious. It’s good for big groups. They have 2 big party rooms. The atmosphere feels as if you’re really in China although I’ve never been there. I did feel like I was in a little village. As for the food, we ordered salt & pepper pork chop(delicious), orange chicken(with real orange pieces), dumplings(nice and soft). Mushu roll came unwrapped and I thought we have to do it ourselves but nice server presented us with free wrapping show. She used 3 spoons and wrapped our chicken & vegetable stuffing with hoisin sauce in crêpe/tortilla wrap. They said crêpe but tasted more like tortilla. Our beef tendon stew hotpot was heating up right at our table on top of one of those small gas burner. As for service, this isn’t a typical chinese restaurant. All servers are very nice & polite. Our water was filled constantly. They do have complimentary hot tea but you have to ask for them. They have many servers working efficiently. It’s byob place but not sure if there’s charge for that. The only gripe is being set at the only dirty/worn out plastic table instead of wooden table.
